The CW9 pistol in black carbon fiber.

Carbon fiber is becoming more and more ubiquitous.  From wallets to knives to guns, carbon fiber is everywhere.!

One of the latest to take advantage of this super-tough reinforced polymer is the Kahr Firearms Group, who announced last week that their popular carry pistol, the CW9, would be getting a black carbon fiber makeover.

Pretty cool, huh?

According to Kahr, the pistol features a 3.6” barrel with conventional rifling and 1-10 right-hand twist, a polymer frame with black carbon fiber print, and a matte stainless steel slide.

The gun measures just 5.9” in overall length, 4.5” in height and weighs 15.8 oz. This is the only firearm in the entire Kahr product line that has a drift adjustable white 3-dot sight.

It offers a trigger cocking DAO, lock-breach, “Browning” type recoil lug and passive striker block with no magazine disconnect. Capacity is 7+1 and MSRP is $495.

I like the idea of 3-dot sights on a Kahr.
Heine sights are simply not as accurate – at least they’re not very accurate for me.
At 5-10 yards I don’t have trouble hitting an 8″ paper plate. but at 10-20 yards It’s ‘iffy’, at more than 20 yards I rarely hit the plate.
With 3-dot sights on my Ruger P95 I do a whole lot better.
Kahr should make their guns with both Heine and 3-dot sights so buyers have a choice.

Opinion…I prefer the two dot sights on the Kahr & Taurus pistols after years of three dots on S&W, Colt & Ruger’s. The Kahr front dot and rear bar align faster for me and I cannot determine a loss of accuracy…Opinion

That’s carbon fiber just like the mirrors, door handles,, big wings, and JC Whitney hood scoops on $1.200 fart-can Hondas I see weaving through traffic. What an embarrassing announcement for Kahr.

I agree, the fake carbon fiber look should be used on toy cars only. When I first saw this I thought it was a joke.

    • Travis July 16, 2016, 12:41 pm

That’s one of the ugliest guns I’ve ever seen. What were they thinking.

Matte stainless is such a WASTE of the beauty of stainless steel!

  • Brendan Malloy July 12, 2016, 4:42 pm

It’s a carbon fiber look, not actually carbon fiber. The frame is style the standard polymer from what I can see on their website.

I noticed that as soon as I read “Carbon Fiber Print”……great for the Latino gang member driving a lowered ricer that sounds like my weed eater…

I would like to know if the Taurus Curve .380 with pocket clip will be approved anytime soon in the State of California.
also, looking for California approval for the M&) Shield 45 ACP and the Springfield Armory .45 ACP.
of the two .45 ACP, which one has the least recoil and the better control. I kind of think from your reviews that you favor shooting the M&P Shield .45 ACP. Thank you. Michael

I wouldn’t look for any new firearms to be approved in California. Last I read they’re intentionally not approving new ones and as the older ones reach the end of their production, they’re not being replaced. It’s a de Facto handgun ban. If you want to own firearms, move to another state.

I personally know two residents of Cal who own property in a different state and store their equipment at that property. It will probably save them the eventual loss through impending confiscation, which almost surely will come with a Gavin Newsom administration.

With the latest wave of bills signed by Governor Moonbeam, you can rest assured things aren’t going to get any better.

I really understand your sentiment on moving. California is a 2A battle ground stat, moving= retreat. As a resident of controlifornia I have to stay and fight peacefully. 13% of the nation’s population resides in this state we cannot allow the gun grabbers a victory here. There are millions of us responsible owners here.

You cannot and will not win this. As voters fail to control the influx of illegal aliens and the state allows them more “rights” they will soon control your electorate and you will not peacefully recover. I have friends there and this saddens me but it is inescapable. The millions of responsible gun owners you speak of are at the races or the beach when time comes for you to “take” control just as more are all over the country. If Clinton wins this election the entire country is likely doomed to collapse.

As a native Californian, born and raised in Northern California, we raised our family in Southern California, and got everyone OUT safely awhile ago. While I miss my Northern California roots and the geography, I do not miss the idiotic asinine bovine excrement that seeps unchecked out of Sacramento. Gavin Newsome is simply a pestilence in California, as are his cronies in San Francisco and Sacramento. ComradeKamala the current Attorney General, is going to either take Feinstein’s or Boxer’s Senate seat, as the heir apparent (self-anointed) successor to either Senator, depending on which she can arange to have a fatal “accident” first.
Non-compliance should be the order of the day for the sane Californians who can see through the fetid stinking political waters in California.
I am disgusted that firearms distributors continue to screw the decent people of California over, by continuing to supply California law enforcement agencies with firearms, ammunition and other equipment that the Communista Regime in Sacramento(and San Francisco) have ignominiously decreed that the Constitution of both California and the Republic, do not apply to. (apologies for the political rant against what has so infected my native state and birthplace, childhood home)
As for the Kahr carbon-fiber applique on the CW-9, really? Talk about putting a “down-market” cache onto your products! Why do they have a marketing department, and WHO was the schmoe that “thought” that would be a “great idea”?
They must have hired the designers of the Pontiac Aztec.

At least your rant was a good one! And every bit true no doubt! The Libtard scene is getting more Marxist/communista by the day it makes me sick and I’ve never been near Cali. But sure seems the citizens fall in line over there? Wouldn’t it be nice if America cleaned the political scene of these Obama hyper radical Socialist all together? We sure did all get along better before that Kenyan born commie came to save us from ourselves.
