Last month when Kalashnikov USA announced their new lineup of American-made AKs and shotguns there was really only one question: How much?
Well, on Facebook Monday the company released pricing for each model.
Below is the MSRP for each model. At first glance these prices may induce a bit of sticker shock but remember they’re American Made.

The US132 autoloading rifle is essentially a Saiga. I was hoping it would bring Saiga prices down but the MSRP is around where price gouged Saigas are at now where I live. I hope that changes.
No thanks. For all the above reasons PLUS 7.62×39 in steel = BIG NO at the indoor range. Same round in brass is close to .308 price when it is on sale. Gotta shoot it to be any good with it. I’ll keep my .308 AR.

For as long as these guys have been in buisness, regardless of which name they’ve been doing buisness under, you could always count on them for absolutely absurd pricing. RWC – home of the $1,160 BARS 4-1.
What about Ak – 74’s? No prices?
No ammo = no demand = no 74’s.
There’s plenty of 5.45 ammo, including red army standard, wolf and even still some 7N6 out there. The only AK rifles that would interest me would be an original config fixed stock AK74 or better yet a 5.45 RPK. Seems Kalashnikov is out of touch with US shooters .. and an AK shotgun with a folding stock and PLEASE a bayonet lug!
It’s too bad that the only decent looking gun is the first one on this list. The gaudy attachments and even the basic pistol grips are hideous.
Let’s not forget though, that these are MSRP prices and actual pricing will be lower by at least $100 I’m sure. Considering that these are Kalashnikov licensed Firearms, I don’t the pricing is out of line. Compare it to what an SGL 21 was going for a couple years ago.
Pricing and value are still 2 different animals though. Value will only be determined by dependability and reliability. If these are every bit as reliable as an SGL 21 then I would say that they are a great deal.

How about some wood stocks and handguards to go along with them?
These firearms are just as “American-Made” as the Hondas or Toyotas that are sold here in America. Are they made with American Steal and American Plastic? Maybe the first sentence of this article should say “American-Assembled”.

There is NO way I will pay that kind of money for an AK just because it’s made in America. Part of it’s appeal is extreme reliability at a reasonable price. Sorry, but tagging them with an “American made” label is not worth it.
Obama administration banned import, so apparently the Russian answer is American production. Beautiful!
