Filmmaker Kevin Willmott is taking a stand against campus carry.  Willmott, who also teaches media and film at the University of Kansas, showed up to class last week wearing a bulletproof vest.  His point, he doesn’t feel safe in the classroom anymore.

“Try to forget that I’m wearing a vest, and I’ll try to forget that you could be packing a .44 magnum,” Willmott told UDK.com, the student paper of KU.

Willmott likened the new law that allows law-abiding citizens to carry on campus grounds provided they’re over the age of 21 to a “nice/nasty” form of segregation from the ’50s where instead of erecting big signs enforcing the separation of whites and blacks businesses would put up small notices to conceal the policy from plain sight.

“The disturbing part of the policy for me is that it is concealed,” Professor Willmott explained. “It’s kind of a don’t ask, don’t tell kind of a policy, and so, you’re just kind of expected to forget that they’re probably there. And in that sense, you’re kind of living in a lie.”

“And that’s what this policy is all about,” Willmott continued. “They don’t want it to be visible, because if it was visible, if everybody was walking around with a bulletproof vest on, people would say, ‘Oh my God, is this a warzone? What’s going on here?’ And yes, it is a warzone. No one’s started shooting yet. Yet. But we don’t know how many people have guns.”

Willmott went on to argue that guns on campus chill the free exchange of ideas in the classroom, that everyone — students, teachers, administrators — is scared and that the mental health of college students is already fragile and having guns around will have tragic results.

“You know, I’m a filmmaker, and it’s like you’re living in a satire,” Willmott said. “You’re living in this kind of crazy satire where you’re teaching and people can have guns. I mean it’s crazy, it’s crazy. I don’t know how else to say it.”

Willmott says he plans to wear the vest for at least a year.

Fears over campus carry are overblown.  The notion that students and teachers and administrators are living in a warzone with blood in the streets is complete and utter nonsense.

In an article published on The Hill back in May, researcher and economist John Lott Jr. flat-out debunked the notion that campus carry poses a threat to student safety.

“Twelve states mandate the right to permitted concealed carry on public college campuses and an additional 22 states leave it up to the university,” wrote Lott.  “Not once has a permit holder in any of these states committed a crime on one of these campuses with a gun.”

Lott also made a good point regarding Kansas’ Constitutional carry standard which doesn’t require one to obtain a permit to carry concealed.

“It is a wonder how these professors ever go off campus. After all, there are over 1.15 million concealed handgun permit holders in Texas. Kansans don’t even need a permit to carry. Professors can’t go to restaurants, movie theaters, or grocery stores without being around legally carried concealed handguns,” he noted.

Lott’s right.  If KU is a warzone, well then so is the entire state of Kansas.  If he is going to be intellectually consistent, Willmott should wear that vest everywhere he goes, not just to class.

He was “living a lie” before the bill passed allowing campus carry. The lie was that nobody is or will be carrying a gun on campus because it’s illegal. Doesn’t he know all the school shootings were people carrying guns on campus illegally?
Now he’s living life more in line with the truth.

  • Michael Kimberlin April 6, 2019, 11:37 am

Can’t fix stupid, seems the more book learning intelligence one secures, the less common sense is obtained. Professor seemed to have forgot that campus carry is to defend against the crazed element in out society….is he one of those?

  • Mr. Sparkles April 5, 2019, 8:15 pm

Message to Kevin Willmott, the legal gun owners in this country have over 300 million guns and over a trillion rounds of ammo. If we were the problem, … you would know it.

  • Retnavet April 5, 2019, 6:44 am

“Willmott says he plans to wear the vest for at least a year.”

Probably the same for his skivvies….libtards promoting suicidal insanity since 1906

  • Mike H. September 5, 2017, 3:53 pm

Sounds to me like the dang fool needs to be wearing a Diaper too! That way Poo-Poo won’t be running down his legs. I recon I’m an old fart. When I was in the 10th grade,I aquired an old Savage 12 guage double barrel. The stock and forearm were all scratched and faded. My Shop teacher told me to bring it to class and he would show me how to refinish it. I took it to school and walked down the hall with it over my shoulder. Can You imagine what would happen if You did that now days?

    • Frank September 5, 2017, 8:40 pm

Mike H., My friends and I used to bring our shotguns to school if we were going hunting afterward. Nobody freaked out, or got shot. And we were allowed to bring our own guns in for personalized firearm safety instruction during hunter’s safety course. Today, troubled kids bring guns to school for ill intent and good kids are forbidding from even getting firearm instruction. What happened to this country?

      • Mike H. September 9, 2017, 4:28 pm

In my opinion, the biggest problem is that parents don’t teach their kids about guns and take them hunting anymore. Every time there is a school involved shooting, the first thing You hear on the news is Gun-Control. Anyone with any brain whatsoever should realize that criminals who want a gun are not going to the gunshop and go through a background check to buy one! And all of these idiotic video games! Kids nowdays think guns are toys.

    • {Paul C Dippert September 6, 2017, 5:38 pm

      Professor Wilmott,
I think you are over reacting greatly. Instead of protesting concealed carry why don’t you get trained to carry yourself. Then you would not be afraid of guns. The reality of our society, as unstable as it is, would force us to protect ourselves and families. College campuses are rife with nuts carrying weapons anyway. If one of these unstable people decide to terrorize your campus you may be able to end a threat. Give it some thought. It is much better to be able to possible neutralize a threat. Don’t bring a sharpened pencil to a gun fight.

  • daddyvortex September 3, 2017, 4:26 pm

Well, seeing where his opinion is coming from, I’m pretty sure he is wearing a vest in order to rob liquor stores without being wounded. Good luck with that, prof. Oh, did I stereotype you? Tough shit.

  • LHS September 3, 2017, 2:31 pm

Big leftist, control freak crybabies. We have had it with all you left wing so-called “professors”. The colleges today are a disgrace of mind control and indoctrination. They were a open minded institutions – what “liberal” used to mean when I was in college, but I’m an old codger who apparently isn’t hip to the new order.
Hang on snowflakes, the road for you babies is going to be washed away. Don’t forget your blankies and pacifiers.

  • Carl Tests September 2, 2017, 1:46 pm

He is a filmaker – I didn’t see what he was a professor of. Perhaps the arts. If he is a professor of the arts, then it may be easier to understand how he may want to make a “statement”. Of course, art is in the eyes of the beholder, and it sure doesn’t look like good are to me.

His argument/stance/call it what you will seems to be irrational and without merit to me.

  • Dennis September 2, 2017, 1:17 pm

This is part of America’s problem today. we have teachers and professors like this teaching our youth and they cannot even think for themselves. I am not being sarcastic either because most of the left just follow the rhetoric their media counterparts and left leaning friends spout out.
I challenge someone on the left to really think this issue thru and give your own feedback and not just what everyone else is saying. Maybe if we could do this we could build a better America.

    • LHS September 3, 2017, 2:35 pm

They won’t Dennis. They’ll call you names and say you’re mean. Brains bleached and damaged.

  • John Isbell September 2, 2017, 12:43 pm

Most of the attacks that occur on campus are on women. Is the professor afraid that some woman who wants to protect herself might shoot him? Has he done something to these women that he thinks he needs a bullet proof vest ?Hmmm. Just wondering!

  • Common Sense Tyranny September 2, 2017, 11:14 am

I’ll try to forget this moron thinks a .44 mag is a suitable CC caliber, I suppose it’s the only one he can name and he learned it at at the movies. I’ll also try to forget he’s a half baked liberal snowflake of color that thinks infusing with dramatic devices in the serious discussion of the 2nd Amendment and right to defend one’s self is a good idea. (It’s not and only diminishes his credibility, maybe he should go the “pussy hat” route if this doesn’t work) He has no respect for the Constitution and hides behind his abusive attitudes toward free citizens with the ruse of “safety for everyone”. It’s where every one of his favorite historical figures started before they became absolute despots and dictators.

  • A.D. Roberts September 1, 2017, 11:17 pm

A black professor. That says it all. Got his degree by AFFIRMATIVE ACTION.

    • OFBG September 3, 2017, 12:11 am

      Sorry, A.D.
Black or otherwise his “protest” is ignorant, uninformed, and asinine.
      Your comment is equally so.

  • Douglas Riding September 1, 2017, 10:47 pm

Hey ! that’s easy… I can forget he’s wearing a vest in no time at all… Just start teachin’ prof !
I ‘forget’ that all the cops, security guards, Park & Forest Rangers, and lots of regular folks wear ’em too !
& NOT to protect themselves from lawful, concealed carry permit holders !!!
I wonder if he’s ever heard of a ‘head shot’ ???
Maybe the thought hasn’t crossed his pea brain…

  • BOB C September 1, 2017, 8:25 pm

So, he doesn’t feel safe. I sure hope he feels STUPID. In this part of Florida most of the people are carrying a weapon of some sort. And that makes me feel very safe. Few idiots will attempt to mug or commit crimes knowing they may wind up with their brains splattered on the sidewalk. So, unless this dimwitted “professor” has criminal activity in mind – he has very little to fear from honest, law abiding, concealed carry permit holders. He should be thankful others are taking steps which indirectly make him safer. He should go to Chicago and spend some time in that “gun free zone” – so he could feel as safe as he deserves. Sad thing is that these brainless idiots are teaching young Americans how to be sheep. God help us.

  • OFBG September 1, 2017, 7:04 pm

“Try to forget that I’m wearing a vest, and I’ll try to forget that you could be packing a .44 magnum.”
My response: “Try to to forget that I could be packing a .44 magnum, and I’ll try to forget that you are an asshole.”
Because of course we all know that all armed citizens, even those licensed to carry, are to be feared.

  • Richard Hilton September 1, 2017, 6:30 pm

So he has done something to protect himself but what is his plan to protect his students. Just stand there and watch as they get gunned down, if he needs a Bulletproof Vest and he is against guns in his class then he should give all his students a Bulletproof Vest for there safety. How about the school outlaw Bulletproof Vests as well as guns. Is the teachers life worth more than the students. I don’t think so. Maybe we need more places to put the criminals and quicker DNA tests to check for more evidence. Then we need to implement the death penalty faster to discourage the would be criminals. I don’t see outlawing guns as a real way to stop crime a punishment that scare the hell out of them may work better than anything else.

    • Z September 1, 2017, 9:08 pm

Really? Is that really your contention? If the professor could and did legally carry concealed would it be his responsibility to provide hand guns for all his students? Does he have to buy their clothes and lunches because he wears clothes and eats lunch? You appear to have a cell phone, shouldn’t you be providing phones and paying the bill for everyone else that uses this comment board?

  • Kirby Wallace September 1, 2017, 4:33 pm

Here’s the conversation that needs to take place in the OUTSIDE the classroom.

“Professor, why are you wearing a bullet proof vest? Look, I carry a .40 under my shirt virtually everywhere I go, every day.
Except now. Is it ME that you are afraid of? Am I the one that you fear, causing you to wear that bullet proof vest? Am I the cause of your concern? [[he answers “no” – of course]].

“So, which one of us is it? [[Gesture to the whole room of students]] it must be one of us. [[He answers, ‘It’s none of you’, which is what he will have to answer eventually]]. Well, which student is it anywhere in the school that has you so worried? [[He eventually has to fess up that there isn’t one]].

“But professor, you are wearing a BULLET PROOF VEST, for God’s sake. At least ONE of us must be a perceived threat to you, else why are you wearing that vest?”

Eventually, if you hold his attention to the facts, he will realise that his fear is completely irrational, and that he is only a political actor, probably a tool of some activist he’s been listening to.

  • Kirby Wallace September 1, 2017, 4:25 pm

He’s got it backwards. He should be wearing the vest because the school will not allow him to protect himself with a concealed carry firearm.

“Look,” said Professor Willmott, “…if the school is going to insist that I cannot carry a handgun for protection, then I’m going to have to take my chances. And this vest improves my odds in the next mass shooting. It’s sad that I have to resort to this, but without the ability to fight back against the next shooter, I’ll have to settle for the best bullet proof vest I can afford. Sucks to be me, I guess.”

    • Z September 1, 2017, 7:29 pm

Perhaps that’s what he meant when he said, “The disturbing part of the policy for me is that it is concealed.”. His statements suggest that he fears a student may become unstable and that the legal presence of firearms may make a bad situation worse. I’d have to read the original article instead of the parts used for this article to be certain.

  • Thomas September 1, 2017, 4:23 pm

    Just another idiot

  • Patrick McWilliams September 1, 2017, 4:20 pm

    Kevin,
I remember lending you a gun for a couple of scenes in your movie “Ninth Street”. Great film, by the way. What do you think of Netflix stealing your idea for “Confederates”.

Yours is certainly a distinct form of protest. But, from a practical point of view, body armor, just like handguns, to be truly effective for their intended purpose, should be concealed.

    • Doc Loch September 2, 2017, 3:27 pm

Now this is the proper exercise of logic. I wish you were the professor. We might have some hope for our youth!

  • Y2K September 1, 2017, 3:48 pm

He thinks that there is still a free exchange of ideas on campuses?!

Clearly he hasn’t been paying attention lately.

  • Lon September 1, 2017, 3:30 pm

Another leftist, indoctrinating Americas soft headed youth.

  • loupgarous September 1, 2017, 1:54 pm

Campaigning against civil rights (the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms). Shame on you, Professor Willmott.
Unfortunately, not a surprise. College campuses have historically not been great places to exercise civil rights. LSU, when I went there, made you lock your guns up at the Military Science Department if you were a target shooter, and that was the ONLY case in which you even got to have them on campus (this was maybe ten years after the bell tower shooting at UT Austin, because, of course, when one college student out of a million loses it, everyone must be punished).
There’s silver in this cloud. though. At the end of the day, he smells like feet, because body armor does that to some people.

  • GARY September 1, 2017, 1:51 pm

This IDIOT is allowed to teach, can not be fired. We are so much better off now that the government has destroyed our education system with the DOE. and let us not forget to give thanks to the commie teachers union.

  • Michael September 1, 2017, 1:23 pm

Just another “ivory tower” racist. Nothing going on here – move on (oops – not “Move On .org!!)

If you really wanted to get rid of this clown, have him put in a couple of Level IV plates. At about 10 pounds each, that should keep him “centered!”

  • Ronnie September 1, 2017, 12:45 pm

When I got my Carry Permit the instructor/Deputy Sheriff had us do head shots. If you couldn’t put 1 of 3 in the head you didn’t qualify.

  • Ronnie September 1, 2017, 12:40 pm

When I qualified for my Carry Permit the Instructor/Deputy Sheriff has us do head shots. If you couldn’t hit 1 of 3 shots to the head you didn’t pass. We do things different here in the South.

  • KurtW September 1, 2017, 12:29 pm

This Drama-Queen teaching Film classes already seems to forget that they could have already been packing a .44 magnum illegally, and he’s not dead yet.

  • Tom S. September 1, 2017, 12:07 pm

Mr. Willmott is exactly what is wrong with this country. He lies to himself, and sadly, to young minds. I realize that this is a different time, but most of where we are is our own fault. When I went to High School I rode the bus three days a week with my Remington 121 pump and a box of ammo in my pocket. Yea, you are hearing me right, I was on the school rifle team and that was “Normal” in our town. Guess what, nobody ever got upset, or shot. Gun Free Zones have been “shooting galleries” for the type of sick individuals that our current way of raising children has produced. Nobody is responsible for their actions, it is always somebody else that is at fault, or like this teacher thinks, the gun’s fault. Respect for authority is practically non-existent, and everyone has a right to what someone else has. Today, I would not want to be a teacher, but at least those that do not want to be a victim hiding under a desk or in a closet, should be able to protect themselves.

  • Travis September 1, 2017, 11:52 am

My concealed carry has nothing to do with race. If someone tries to attack me, I will fight back no matter their color. He is an idiot. I bet he declares victory next week and stops wearing his vest.

  • Adam Jeppson's September 1, 2017, 11:34 am

*forehead slap* You know what? If this ding dong wants to wear a vest to protest OK. I’ll support his right to do so. Just because he’s an idiot doesn’t mean he doesn’t have rights. So do I. So do we all. That being said, (and I know I’m preaching to the choir here) in the left’s mind it’s ALWAYS the guns fault and naturally the law abiding citizen who has run the gamete of being vetted who is the biggest threat to mankind as a whole. . *second forehead slap*

  • Englishlass September 1, 2017, 11:23 am

He’s too stupid to be allowed around young gullible minds; He should resign and move to the South Side of Chicago.

  • Norm Fishler September 1, 2017, 11:16 am

My-O-My! Doesn’t he look Chick! I’ll bet he’ll even show up to an occasional college staff cocktail party wearing the damn thing. What some of these pathetic losers will do for a little attention is getting more & more outrageous every day. From reading through the comments on some of his class subject matter, it seems to me as though he had best better wear it. In the 60s & 70s I couldn’t choke down the garbage that was being spewed at me from the lectern. Cannot imagine how bad it is these days.

  • Ks-Hunter September 1, 2017, 11:14 am

Some one should give some level 3 plates to add. That way he can be real protected and he can get just a taste of what it feels like to be down range.

  • Willie-O September 1, 2017, 11:00 am

While his entire letter pisses me off to no end, the worst part is how he manages to go completely off the rails and connect carrying a concealed weapon to racism. WTH is this idiot smoking ?? How does this jack-ass think that these mutually exclusive libtard talking points are even remotely related ? I guess no one told this moron that his BULLET-resistant vest probably won’t protect him against the knives that are and always have been allowed on campus. Every time I think I’ve heard the most ignorant comments the left possibly has to offer, one of ’em manages to prove me wrong.

  • MJ September 1, 2017, 10:56 am

A society is safer when criminals don’t know who’s armed.

  • Russ H. September 1, 2017, 10:45 am

As he\’s never worn a vest for any period of time, nor does he truly have a valid reason to wear one – I give him a week before he has an excuse to leave it at home. He\’s seeking publicity and to make a statement – not that he truly fears CCW carriers. Grow up.

  • Foxtrap September 1, 2017, 10:33 am

  • Lee September 1, 2017, 10:20 am

No wonder kids today are so ignorant. Their college professors are idiots…

    • Z September 1, 2017, 11:26 am

Kids today are no different than you. They’re products of their upbringing. Teach them to think for themselves and they will.

  • Frank September 1, 2017, 10:19 am

The media and liberal institutions are pushing their ideology upon society. My favorite recent example is “Drag Queen Story Time” at a public library in Madison, Wisconsin to grade schoolers (story can be found at wpr.org). They would never let a woman dressed like a prostitute read to children, but if it’s a man… they call it “diversity.”

    • Z September 1, 2017, 1:16 pm

Damn those public libraries and their compulsory attendance. How are parents supposed to keep their children away from real world things they don’t want them exposed to? It’s not like they can simply choose to not attend. Yarg! Please clarify, I thought libraries were socialist institutions, you know, with their tax payer funding and open admission to everyone. You’re saying they are liberal institutions filled with media?

classroom shooters, [who have ‘ALL’ been proven to be liberal democrats] like him, “only” go to schools where guns have been banned by a-holes like him !!

  • JBud September 1, 2017, 9:40 am

The professor wasn’t scared when only the criminal or a nut case could carry a gun into the school, but now that law abiding citizens can carry, he’s scared? OMG! I don’t know what he teaches but I’m sure I can’t learn anything from him. You would think a professor would have to be smart to teach, I guess that’s another myth busted!

  • Dr Motown September 1, 2017, 9:30 am

His students are “scared and mentally fragile”….well, “social media and film” tend to attract those kind of people

    • Z September 1, 2017, 10:19 am

Are you being ironic? You know you posted your comment on social media, right?

  • Alan September 1, 2017, 9:21 am

I would point out that he states “you’re kind of living in a lie”, in reference to concealed carry.
The “lie” is that he felt “safe” when CCW was not allowed.
‘Gun free’ zones are the lie, they do nothing to make anyone safe in any manner, way, or form.
No one can honestly defend a ‘gun free’ zone as safe. To do so is intellectually dishonest.
Frankly, after reading this I sincerely question this man’s intellectual capacity to teach or instruct.

    • Rouge1 September 1, 2017, 11:05 am

These are the fools teaching our kids.

  • Mike Finn September 1, 2017, 9:12 am

Somebody needs to keep tabs on this idiot over his promise to wear the vest for a year. Even a well-fitted armored vest makes you hot, sweaty, and uncomfortable. You’re tempted to take it off even if you’re in a really dangerous environment, like, oh, say, the Middle East. Every day he approaches that smelly thing, he will think, “I’m not really in any danger? Why am I doing this to myself?” I’d be shocked if he lasted a month.

    • Doug Walker September 1, 2017, 9:46 am

I would guess that this a-hole has all the “plate pockets” filled with cardboard so it is more comfortable !!

  • Alan September 1, 2017, 9:08 am

One CANNOT be “intellectually consistent” if one has no intellect.
This man is illogical, his flawed thought process precludes intellect of any depth worth considering.
In short, he is the embodiment of the Gumpism, “stupid is as stupid does”.

  • joefoam September 1, 2017, 8:56 am

Carrying a concealed weapon is “living a lie”? With all the reported coed rape incidents, you’d think he’d want to protect the students, not disarm them. I wonder if he has a daughter he’d like to send to school defenseless.

    • Rouge1 September 1, 2017, 11:09 am

Why do you think he is wearing body armor? He use to have full reign with the little girls, but now he is in fear.

  • Mike Hadderton September 1, 2017, 8:47 am

The real stupid people are the one who pay to have their children “taught” by such fools. You parents with college age children are the ones who can stop this bullsh-t with your check books.

  • Ram6 September 1, 2017, 8:29 am

Why must everything be about race with these people. Now a concealed carry law applying to college campus in Kansas is somehow just like “nice/nasty” form of segregation from the ’50s where instead of erecting big signs enforcing the separation of whites and blacks businesses would put up small notices to conceal the policy from plain sight.” Somehow I am missing the logic of this whole comment. He says he doesn’t feel safe, well guess what, that’s his problem not the problem of the law nor those in his class who might be carrying a “44 magnum”. They are actually there to make themselves and him be safe should someone try to take over the campus and start executing people. I paraphrase Shakespeare “…kill all liberal college professors” because they are idiots and will reproduce.

  • Resolute September 1, 2017, 8:29 am

Doesn’t he need a full-face armored helmet to save him from an assassin’s bullet? Added benefit; we have to hear him speak, spreading his fecal matter.

  • PAUL September 1, 2017, 8:29 am

WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT FROM A ANTIFA LOVING LIBTARD

    • Z September 1, 2017, 10:27 am

The professor didn’t mention Antifa or his feelings about the movement. Calling him a, “Libtard” for expressing his opinions, in spite of using all caps, doesn’t justify your opinion. This is America, he’s entitled to his opinions and they need not coincide with your own.

      • Rouge1 September 1, 2017, 11:10 am

        Says the libatard.

  • Mike September 1, 2017, 8:28 am

All I can say is “thanks”! I want every libtard to buy body armor. If the companies make more units, it drives the price down, that’s when I’ll buy mine.

  • Larry September 1, 2017, 8:18 am

Isn’t this the same idiot MAKING his students watch GAY PORN??? Typical LIBTURD Fascist!

    • Z September 1, 2017, 10:31 am

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say you have Zero evidence to back your assertion and furthermore, your obsession with gay porn says more about you than it does about anyone else. Get a dictionary, look up the definition of facist.

Won’t he be disappointed when no one gets hurt for the year he is wearing that uncomfortable vest. Wonder what he will say then.

    • Z September 1, 2017, 10:33 am

That this is America and he has the freedom and the right to express his opinions even if other people find them distasteful because that’s what the First Ammendment of the constitution declares?

  • ted w. September 1, 2017, 8:12 am

I guess its true, you can’t fix stupid.

    • Englishlass September 1, 2017, 11:26 am

      “Z” certainly PROVES that.

      • Z September 1, 2017, 12:06 pm

You didn’t even spell, “English Lass” correctly.

  • Frank D September 1, 2017, 8:08 am

The old saying comes to mind…You can educate an idiot and all you\’ll end up with is an educated idiot.

  • Doc Palmer September 1, 2017, 8:04 am

    Ignorant p#ssy.

  • Frank September 1, 2017, 8:01 am

The old saying comes to mind…You can educate an idiot and all you’ll end up with is an educated idiot.

  • Jay September 1, 2017, 7:52 am

Well, here’s an idea, MOVE, you don’t like our Constitution and Freedoms take your candy ass to China, North Korea or at least wear a pink one, that will suit this buffoon better! I’ll bet he hides in the closet when a thunder storm nears!

    • Z September 1, 2017, 10:36 am

Exercising his first amendment right without violating school policy, how exactly does that conflate with, “anti-American” in your book? Are you suggesting that only the opinions and ideas you agree with should be expressed? Hmm, sounds like you have more in common with fascist ideology than the constitution.

  • Tom September 1, 2017, 7:41 am

He must be planning a trip to Chicago. Hell safer if some of his armed student accompany him.

  • Altoid September 1, 2017, 6:31 am

If he feels that unsafe, perhaps he needs to relocate to another country. North Korea comes to mind, since the general population there most certainly is not allowed access to firearms.

  • Eric Haulenbeek September 1, 2017, 6:22 am

Another brainless liberal who’s got things backwards… again! The good-guys are the law-abiding folks who carry for self-defense, and not the bad guys who use their illegal weapons for intimidation and oppression of anyone/everyone around them. This clown is typical the type of individual who’s “educating” young minds. He’s clearly the guy needing an education!

  • Guido September 1, 2017, 5:56 am

    Hello
I\’m beginning to see his logic. It\’s a racial thing, since black Americans don\’t have drivers licenses or other state-issued I.D., (evidenced by their inability to vote in states with such laws) they lack the capacity to lawfully purchase their own weapons. Therefore, it simply enhances the already racially imbalanced system and encourages all those non-black racists to open fire on the obviously unarmed black Americans.
It\’s not really about carrying concealed firearms, it\’s essentially about carrying concealed drivers licenses.
    Yeeeah…..

    • Z September 1, 2017, 10:37 am

How much does your tinfoil hat weigh?

      • Englishlass September 1, 2017, 11:30 am

Well, with your head full of Donkey farts you have nothing to worry about.

  • roger September 1, 2017, 5:51 am

At least he is safe from thugs/criminals coming to campus to shoot.

    • Rouge1 September 1, 2017, 11:27 am

Maybe safer. He can be killed with a 22lr even while wearing a bullet resistant garmet.

  • Jeff September 1, 2017, 4:36 am

“Try to forget that I’m wearing a vest, and I’ll try to forget that you could be packing a .44 magnum.”… Hahaha well the joke’s on you buddy. Any law abiding citizen who carries a concealed firearm doesn’t care about your open wearing of body armor and you still won’t know someone is carrying concealed. Some people are just too ignorant for words.

  • Carrucan Kurrajon August 31, 2017, 11:20 pm

While his logic is flawed, what he doesn’t realize is he is reinforcing the message that those who carry are doing the same thing he is doing – taking responsibility for their own safety. I’d like to see him protest on-campus binge drinking, drunk driving, and drug abuse, as he is more likely to to be affected by those activities than a legally carried gun, but to each his own. Being near a gun isn’t a bad thing, being near a drunken or high idiot is.

    • Rick September 1, 2017, 8:05 am

You’re actually eight (8) times more likely to die from alcoholism in this country than you are being shot to death by someone else. And you can be assured that most of those deaths are attributable to ILLEGAL guns.

  • piper August 31, 2017, 8:48 pm

Professors are usually smart-mouthed democrat a-holes. It’s a wonder they don’t take an a-whoopin every time they step off campus.

    • Roger F. Garner September 1, 2017, 6:10 am

      Right on .

      • Z September 1, 2017, 10:49 am

Sounds like the professor needs a concealed firearm to protect his heath and well being from people like the two of you. Ironic.

        • Joe September 1, 2017, 12:26 pm

Most intelligent argument you’ve made here “Z”. Now please explain what you just said to the professor.

  • Mike August 31, 2017, 3:33 pm

“Willmott went on to argue that guns on campus chill the free exchange of ideas in the classroom”
Isn’t normally these liberal “teachers” are the one to silence the exchange of ideas unless its progressive speech?

    • srsquidizen September 1, 2017, 7:20 am

Yep concealed weapons carried by peaceful law-abiding students suppresses the free exchange of ideas. But not violent mobs of left-wing protesters threatening to burn down the campus if a conservative is allowed to speak. Pretty much sums up the “progressive” way of thinking.

      • Z September 1, 2017, 10:53 am

When you write, “conservative”, are you referring to Milo Yianopolus? First off, he’s British. Second, he’s a white supremacist and outspoken racist. Now my question is, do you still want to claim him as a, “conservative”?

        • JP Rogers September 1, 2017, 10:00 pm

You’re letting your inner libtard show. The only thing Milo says about races, is how much he likes black dick. Not exactly racist. But lets skip him and look at Ann Coulter, who was also shut down by the left wing nut jobs at Berkeley. The “birth place of free speech”. Sad. Funny thing about that First amendment; it works for everyone. Racists, white supremacists, and even liberal wack a doos. Unfortunately, the liberals don’t want to recognize that right for people that don’t think exactly the same as they do.

    • Englishlass September 1, 2017, 11:31 am

That’s what the lefty liberal snowflakes and Antifa are doing isn’t it?

      • Z September 1, 2017, 12:13 pm

Blathering buzz words doesn’t give weight to your remarks. Milo Yianopolus is a self styled white supremacist, a British national, a commentator, a blogger, and he travels about espousing his ideology in the form of lectures whenever he’s paid to do so. As far as I know he doesn’t claim himself to be a conservative in the sense of the American political philosophy often linked to Ronald Reagan. Once again, he’s British.

  • Mike D. August 31, 2017, 3:16 pm

Kevin Willmott seems to equate legally carrying a firearm with being a criminal.
Mr. Willmott- The criminals are carrying illegally. They are the ones you need to fear, not your fellow law-abiding citizen.

    • Z September 1, 2017, 11:04 am

I agree with you Mike. I think Prof. Willmott is being dramatic out of fear and the only people who will take the time to debate his behavior are law abiding citizens. Criminals just go on being criminals.
