Not every new product we talk about is earth-shattering, but we do try to find things to make your life easier. This week we have found something that is cheap, simple and useful.
Anyone that trains with a flashlight on their weapon knows that scrubbing the powder residue and other grit off the lens is a must at the end of the session. If you don’t, the brightness of the light is seriously degraded. An issue I saw over and over again when I was teaching CQB.
If you are going to bother having a light, you might as well have one capable of delivering its max lumen output. Our friends over at Thrym have introduced an ingenious solution. Much like the tear away lens covers on motocross goggles, Thrym now offers the CLENS lens cover for popular flashlight models.
In addition to keeping the lens clean, the CLENS offers a limited amount of protection for your flashlight. A scratched lens is always going to be less efficient, and given the prices of flashlights nowadays, anything you can do to prevent damage is a plus.
The CLENS features a special adhesive that is more attracted to plastic than glass, preventing build up on the lens. If you carry a light on your weapon for duty, this is a solid product to add to your range bag.
You can pick up a sheet of CLENS on Thrym’s website. Price is $8.99. One sheet has three different sizes of CLENS.
