During the 2018 SHOT Show, Lyman released their Brass Smith line of reloading presses. All of the presses in the Brass Smith line are made of heavy-duty cast iron and are designed to last a lifetime. The Brass Smith line is composed of three presses that run the gamut from a simple C-frame press to an ambidextrous eight turret press.

Ideal Press

Brass Smith Ideal Press. Perfect as a stand alone press, or as an auxiliary for special jobs.

The most basic model is the Ideal Press. The Ideal Press is a compact, ambidextrous press that is made of cast iron and has compound linkage for increased leverage. The Ideal Press has a 1″ diameter ram and a 3 7/8 inch press opening which can handle cartridges up to 3.7 inches. The Ideal Press would be perfect for precision reloading or to serve as a custom auxiliary to your main press. The Ideal Press has an MSRP of $99.95

Next up is the Victory Press. The Victory Press, like the Ideal C-Frame, has compound linkage a 1-inch diameter ram and it’s rugged “O” frame is cast iron. The Victory Press also has a straight line primer that comes equipped with a blast shield for added safety. The Victory  Press is fully ambidextrous and has an MSRP of $199.95

All-American 8 Turret Press

All American 8-Turret Press. This press is built like a tank and there was no play between the turret positions.

The rockstar of the Brass Smith line is the All-American 8 Turret Press. The All-American 8 Turret Press features an eight-station turret that is machined out of heavy duty cast iron. The turret can be quickly replaced and has a very positive lock when rotated. The All-American has a 1-inch diameter ram is ambidextrous, and like the Victory Single Stage Press has compound linkage and also comes with a straight line primer feed. Because it has 8 turrets, the All-American can be configured for 4 complete 2 die sets. The All-American 8 Turret Press has an MSRP of $249.95.

Lyman has been in business since 1878, and it is nice to see an established company still bringing quality products to market. The staff at the Lyman booth were enthusiastic, friendly and very knowledgeable about their new products.

Also new for 2018 is the Brass Smith Precision Funnel Set. The Funnel Set has funnel inserts for 22, 243/6mm, 25/6.5mm, 270/7mm, 30 and 338 caliber rifle cartridges.

Lyman also debuted the Brass Smith Powder Measure. The Powder Measure has an ambidextrous handle that can be adjusted for comfort. Powder is adjusted via a micrometer.

In 2018, I set a goal to start handloading all of the ammunition that I use for my precision testing. The Brass Smith line is also available as a reloading kit, and I am seriously considering the Brass Smith line as a start to my goal.

    Same old ship, Different Day ! The only thing I would buy from them is the bore scope which they don’t even have a pic or video recorder or memory card !
