When I hear the words “Matt Damon” two characters immediately come to mind, Jason Bourne from the Bourne series and “Matt Damon” from “Team America: World Police.”

Up until recently, well, until I read Damon’s statements on gun control this week, I more often than not pictured Damon as the badass from Bourne.  Yeah, Matt Damon = Jason Bourne.  No one’s cooler than Jason Bourne.  Right?  So tough!  So cool!  So badass!

However, I’m firmly changing my position on this.  From this day forward, when I hear “Matt Damon,” I will only think of the doltish puppet from “Team America: World Police.”  The Bourne version of Damon is dead to me.  He is now, and forever, “Matt Damon.”

If you’ve never seen “Team America: World Police” then you’re not going to get the import of what I’m saying.  For those of you unfamiliar with “Team America: World Police,” I’ve included a video from the movie below so you can at least get a little taste as to how the creators of the movie (the guys from “South Park”) chose to portray Damon (as an imbecile whose only way to communicate is to repeat his own name, kinda like Hodor from “Game of Thrones.”).  Needless to say, it’s not all that flattering.

Anyways, what did Damon say about gun control, you ask?  Ugh.  Basically, while promoting the new Bourne movie in the Land Down Under, he praised the Aussies for their national (mandatory) “buyback” scheme that disarmed the vast majority of law-abiding citizens.

“You guys did it here in one fell swoop and I wish that could happen in my country, but it’s such a personal issue for people that we cannot talk about it sensibly. We just can’t,” said Damon, in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald while visiting Sydney.

“People get so emotional that even when you make a suggestion about not selling AK47s to people on terror watch lists, that’s a non-starter. I don’t know what needs to happen,” Damon continued.

“Obviously mass shootings aren’t going to do it. There have been so many of them at this point. Sandy Hook, when those children were murdered, if that didn’t do it, you know, I just don’t know. Maybe we just need to evolve further before we can have that conversation, I don’t know,” said the 45-year-old actor.

I know what you’re thinking, Damon’s a hypocrite.  And he is.  If Damon feels so passionately that the mere presence of firearms in a society are a root cause of violence then he ought not to take roles that showcase guns being used to kill people, whether that be good guys or bad guys.  Of course, he would never do that.  He has a classic Hollywood guns-for-me-but-not-for-thee mentality.  It’s okay when he pretends to shoot people on screen, but if you need a modern sporting rifle to defend your family against a group of thugs, well, tough luck.  And the fact that you oppose laws that would ban many commonly owned and widely popular firearms, well, that makes you an “emotional” zealot, in the eyes of Damon.

I’d also go one step further and say that Damon is not only being a hypocrite but that he is also being ironic.  Think about it.  If I recall correctly, the Bourne series is about an extra-constitutional, dare I say “tyrannical,” government program.  Bourne was part of that rogue outfit before he was concussed and reawaken with a moral compass.  In the trilogy (or, however many movies there are) Bourne actively fights against that tyrannical agency with — wait for it — guns!  That’s right!  He is using guns to keep the government in check or, at least, at bay!  Hmmm…  Isn’t that why the founders included the 2A?   Now, here is where the irony kicks in with respect to his reference to No-Fly, No-Buy legislation.  Doesn’t that agency have Bourne on a watchlist?  Isn’t he considered a terrorist or an enemy of the state?  Isn’t the government trying to keep guns out of his hands even though he is the good guy of the film?

Presumably, the answers to all those questions are: yes!  This means that one of the fundamental lessons of the movie is that government cannot be trusted.  Moreover, that the government is bad.  Moreover, that giving the government — FBI, CIA, DHS, NSA —  the power to render judgement on who and who is not a terrorist and, by extension, who can and cannot own a firearm is a very dangerous proposition.   Yet, Damon glibly defends a position on gun control that the Bourne series successfully undermines and subverts.  Ironic, isn’t it?

Damon continued his praise of Australia, suggesting that gun control is the answer to stopping mass killings.

“It’s wonderful what Australia did because you guys haven’t had a mass shooting since you went, ‘No, we’re going to be sensible about this.’ And nobody’s rights have been infringed, you guys are fine,” he said.

“I wish we could be sensible like that but I don’t think that’s going to happen in my lifetime,” Damon concluded.

Damon’s ignorance is off the charts.  There have been at least four shooting attacks in Australia since the Port Arthur massacre in 1996, which triggered the nationwide mandatory “buyback” (those guns never belonged to the government, so the label “buyback” is a misnomer).  Additionally, comparing America to Australia is an apples-to-oranges comparison.  Australia is a rather culturally homogenous country with 23 million people.  America is a very diverse nation with 310 million people.  Big difference.  Lastly, the notion that the “buyback” system didn’t infringe upon anyone’s rights is a transparently stupid thing to say.  Australia’s gun laws  effectively remove one’s natural right to self-defense.  In terms of infringing on fundamental rights, it doesn’t get much worse than that.

Long story short, I hope you join me in boycotting the new Bourne movie.  Screw Matt Damon aka “Matt Damon” (see video below)!

Just another Hollywood, anti-gun nut… I never really liked him as an actor in any movie before (his style of acting was always too stiff). And now, I have even more reasons to hate him. Stupid anti-gun nuts always say that we can’t talk sensibly about guns when they’re the ones that can’t talk sensibly about guns. With anti-gun nuts, it’s always about “their way or the highway”. So, now I can add Matt Damon to the list of actors that I hate. Liam Neeson is already on the list, and now Matt Damon.

Why do these guys get to be quoted on things they obviously know nothing about. They live in Disneyland. Jason Bourne would last 5 minutes in Rikers Island, after they got his autograph and a blow job. They know nothing about having to defend their loved ones, against rapists and murderers who aren’t giving their guns back to Hillary or Obama, no matter what laws they pass.

  • Ron July 11, 2016, 3:23 pm

I believe in the second amendment and have all my life, What I don’t believe in any more is hollywood and there uneducated actors and because there actors know more then the people, such bull shit, most of them are not worth the toilet paper you use avery day. You must think that the America people are stupid. You are no better then the news media . did any of you get past the 5 grade???? I believe in God and our country, what do you believe, its not America.

  • Mike July 11, 2016, 1:57 pm

This guy, like all the other Hollywonks are just trained monkeys, that can emote on queue.

My response to Matt is, “Shut up and dance, monkey!”

  • Rob Abbott July 10, 2016, 10:57 am

Giving an idiot like Matt Damon this much of my time (to read this and reply) should qualify me as a time-waster.

  • rob July 9, 2016, 9:35 pm

What a dickhead!! Check out Chicago,DC,and New York they have some of the toughest gun laws and yet wow huge crime rates. I’m sure the scumbags all buy there firearm legally and it sure makes it easier for the scumbags to commit the crimes knowing there prey can’t have a firearm to protect themselves.

  • Cecil July 9, 2016, 2:39 pm

Shit, I am running out of actors that I can watch on TV. I have already added to my “DO NOT WATCH LIST”
    Stallone
    Samuel L Jackson
    Quentin Tarrentino
    Governor Arnold
    Seth Rogan
    Danny DeVito
and the list goes on. For sure Matt Damon is on my list.

  • Gary July 9, 2016, 2:08 pm

He can SAY what ever he wants to. It’s his RIGHT under the Constitution, as it is ours to own guns.
Just like the Dixie Chicks on their stage when they complained about the war and those that support our troops. They had EVERY right to say what ever they please! I agreed with that 100%, when they said it was their show, and they could say what ever they wanted to.
However, WE have a RIGHT not to LISTEN any longer! Be it music or movies, if the singer or actor is an anti I simply ban them, just as they would my guns.
I just wish ALL of them that are anti gun would speak up!! That way I will know exactly who NOT to pay attention to!
The sad part is they WAIT until they are rich and famous before they shoot off their mouths and won’t matter to them if we listen or not. However, I am Positive it Still matters to the money people behind those movies and records! When ticket and record sales drop low enough the Hollywood machine will change with it. But..it is the ONLY way it ever will.

  • TR July 9, 2016, 11:24 am

If all the “Hollywood Hypocrites” would band together and never use firearms in their movies they would get a glimpse of what our lives (will be) like without our guns; poor, oppressed, afraid for our safety sheep. As gun owners we need to stand together and call them to the mat. And I agree, this needs to extend to our elected officials as well. No secret service patriots to defend them, no hero’s in blue to cover their backsides! Let them be like us commoners, relying on God and our wits to defend our families. Oh wait, they don’t have either!

  • JAMES HOOVER July 9, 2016, 10:55 am

AMAZING HOW THE HOLLYWOOD JERKS MAKE THEIR LIVING FROM MOVIE VIOLENCE DAMN HYPOCRITE’S RUNNING THEIR MOUTH SO RIGHTEOUS I REALLY ENJOYED SOME OF THIER MOVIES BUT NO MORE THEY CAN ROTT WILL NOT SPEND ANOTHER DIME ON THEIR CRAP

  • GlennVA July 9, 2016, 7:13 am

Australia has become so “wonderful” that most homes are contained within chain link fences. Crime has gone out of sight.

  • Dave Hamilton July 9, 2016, 1:47 am

    Matt, who?

  • Harry July 8, 2016, 5:55 pm

Every time one of these “Stars” like Matt Damon & Amy Schumer speak out about guns, its like driving their career into the ground. They alienate all their gun friendly fans, which I would say are 40 to 50% or more. What is weird is that they don’t know anything about the subject. They are just followers and will believe anything. I have deleted the Amy Schumer timer on my DVR.

    • Luciano Gonzales July 8, 2016, 6:45 pm

I agree with you, but, you forgot to mention the dramatic increase of violent crime and murder as a result of disarming aussies.

  • Tom Horn July 8, 2016, 5:53 pm

“…but it’s such a personal issue for people that we cannot talk about it sensibly.” First, you’d have to have some ‘sense,’ to speak sensibly about the 2nd Amendment. Second, it is not a “personal issue,” as Damon states. 2A is a right of all Americans, not based on how you, ‘feel,’ about it.

    Hollywood, STFU!

    • Tom Horn July 8, 2016, 8:28 pm

Here a proposal to shut-up all these elitist with their personal bodyguards, such as Hillary, and Damon: I’ll give up my “evil’ firearms, if EVERYONE (police, Secret Service, FBI, BATFE, personal body guard services, and the military) surrenders theirs. Whats’ that you say? But firearms are useful for the protection… Exactly!!!! But they mean protection of the elite. We mean the protection of U.S. Citizens. Want a sensible conversation? There it is Matt.

  • derwurst July 8, 2016, 5:37 pm

Matt Damon has lost all of my support and I refuse to see all of the movies that he is a cast member of. If he thinks the 600 percentage of strong arm robberies and group beatings of innocent people in Oz is ok ? Perhaps Matt Damon should read about the increased amounts of violent crimes occurrences happening in Oz. He needs to take off his Rose coloured glasses off and read the headlines

    • BR549 July 8, 2016, 6:40 pm

      @ derwurst
I hear you. I loved him in “Good Will Hunting” and the Bourne series, and he’s had a few other movies out that he’s done a good job with ………. BUT, when these people come out to talk about some controversial topic and can’t put forth a cogent presentation of the issues, they should just keep their mouths shut. As far as Damon is concerned, he has just joined the ranks of that hypocrite douche Liam Neeson; once they cross that line, it’s like finding out they’e a pedophile.

  • gunboy July 8, 2016, 4:32 pm

matt damons position on guns in america definately hit me as a real bummer. he ought to move to austrailia so he can have his front door kicked down by a bunch of illiterate psychos and have his family members murdered. then, he could pull out his blowgun and shoot them!! idiot!!!

  • Ram6 July 8, 2016, 4:16 pm

Please someone explain to me why a Hollywood actor/celebrity get’s press for his opinion on a political issue. His opinion is no more valid than anyone posting on this site. These people don’t have anymore insight into the issues confronting this country, and more than likely much less, than anyone else. They are nothing but megaphones for the extreme left wing, liberal Democrat party which they support like lemmings with a lobotomy.

  • Ray Atkinson July 8, 2016, 3:35 pm

43 years in law enforcement, state and federal now retired…Gun control is nothing more than a liberal vote getter, same for immigration…Self serving at its best or worst!! Disarm the masses, arm the criminals, flood the nation with ISIS killers, but get those votes, use the liberal press and people like a tool to serve elections..Its a disgrace.

  • Jason Blondin July 8, 2016, 3:26 pm

If Hollywood was serious about guns, they wouldn’t make any movies that have a gun in it.

  • Peter July 8, 2016, 3:00 pm

This guy was on my “NO see movie” list before this incident.

  • David Keith July 8, 2016, 2:37 pm

No problem with me boycotting his films given that I’m boycotting virtually all of the bilge that flows from Hollywood.
All I can say is that Matt Damon is a pretty good actor but in the end he follows the company line set by the delusional, hypocrites like Harvey Weinstein.
If Matt Damon has any true principles he needs to reexamine them instead of being a Hollywood douche who does not what he believes in but what his handlers believe in.
If you believe in gun control you haven’t studied the subject carefully.

  • rl July 8, 2016, 2:35 pm

I love these Hollywood clowns who know nothing of political history. They make hundreds of millions of dollars glamorizing guns, and selling the concept that a \”gun is cool\” to our youth and then blame the NRA for the fact that our youth think shooting people is cool.We should do with gun advertisements exactly what the media did with Cigarette advertisements in the 1960s and 70s….. ban them and ban movies and billboards that display them for purposes of advertising a movie. Do that and lets see what hollywood says all of a sudden about that….Hypocrisy at its best.\”In every society, modern or old, the class of persons with the power are the ones who control the right to bear arms. There is only one country on this God\’s earth that that class of persons is the People and not Government. \”Anonymous.

  • TPSnodgrass July 8, 2016, 2:06 pm

Actors have some rather bad self esteem issues to begin with, and Damon is NO exception. When one earns his/her living by role playing fiction from a screenwriter, they begin to truly believe, life can be written by a screenwriter. So, Mattie, you are as delusional as your films are. However, I do wish you luck, if you truly BELIEVE, what you espouse, you will protect yourself (by yourself like MILLIONS of Americans already do) and your loved ones (by yourself) without a small legion of highly skilled professional security entourage.
Until you do that, Mattie, you are just another hypocritical irrelevant gasbag.
(and No, I am not “jealous”, I do quite well at what I do professionally, and can manage to deal with life rather well, without to “celebrity or notoriety” of an “actor”. I love my anonymity.

  • skipNclair July 8, 2016, 1:15 pm

People boycott everything and purchase nothing except the bear necessities to get you through life. Take your money out of the banks, go to no movies regardless of what they are, or who is in them, Go to no sporting events, or concerts and in a week you will have their attention and in a month victory. They have to be hit where they get hurt, demonstrations, boycotting one movie or one performer is not enough, you must hit them hard, for if you do not they will continue with their agenda and one day come for you and yours and it will be kill or be killed. Fight the battle now with a boycott of everything and anything they profit from.

  • Geoff H July 8, 2016, 12:05 pm

This goes much deeper than Matt Damon being an idiot. Hollywood is just as responsible for putting ideas of gun violence in the mainstream as the news media. More graphic content coupled with “heroism” for the use of deadly force without restraint is how the the target audiences are entertained. If anyone really wants to stop violence in general, stop celebrating and promoting it to a generation with lack of self control.

  • Dude July 8, 2016, 12:03 pm

If there was a news channel that told all of the people that died everyday from car wrecks and drug overdose there wouldn’t be time for gun violence on the news, period!

  • Furr Gerald David July 8, 2016, 10:44 am

The type movies matt damon and mark walburg and leam make do more to promote violence and wrongly portray guns . I will never watch another movie any of these people make and am ashamed to know them as Americans .

Don’t make movies that portray gun violence and speak against my right to own and protect my family from the violence you promote in your movies.

  • Matt498 July 8, 2016, 10:26 am

Another example of an “actor” that should have stayed in school and received much more education. Maybe he should “act” like someone of intelligence and keeps opinions to himself. He has no idea of the failed gun control in AU. This is the same guy that promoted Obama over Palin in 07 because according to him, “Palin has no experience running anything”, in spite of the fact that she had been the Governor of the largest state in the nation and a state that actually produced revenue.

  • JohnE July 8, 2016, 9:42 am

It is quite simple. Never see a movie that stars or even has Matt Damon.

    #BoycottDamon

  • Bill July 8, 2016, 9:42 am

Couldn’t agree more. Parasites like this jerk and Liam Neeson who make millions shooting people on screen and then wail for gun control off screen are the worst sort of hypocrites. Whenever I see one of these (insert obscene descriptive term) I immediately watch 3 Tom Selleck movies to clear the air and help myself recover ;-).

  • Bayou Ogre July 8, 2016, 9:40 am

First Liar Neeson, now, Matt Demon. Its obvious neither has a clue to reality. Both would have the Citizens of the United States be Subjects, subject to the whims of the few, the Ultra Rich. We are already slaves to a corrupt economic system, many struggling just to survive.

  • Voice of reality July 8, 2016, 9:06 am

An actors opinion? means squat.. Besides he’s a above average actor with limited skills.

Does he realize he can no longer make movies now in Kalifornia due to the new laws?

  • David Wilson July 8, 2016, 8:34 am

Matt D is a cookie cutter image of that White House squatter Obama! Self righteous , holier than thou. Like a majority of actors if he played his self in a movie, nobody would pay to watch the movie! He’s a hypocrite for playing the characters he plays and making money off of it! Personally I never watched his movies and damn sure want now. He’s not even that good of a actor!

  • russ July 8, 2016, 7:10 am

Matt Damon lol——–hes not even a good actor

  • George McCollum July 8, 2016, 6:38 am

Matt, Matt, Matt, ….. what the hell happened to you.

  • Robert July 8, 2016, 5:49 am

I boycotted that little pussy a long time ago… also on that list are the likes of Jim Carrey, Robert Senior, Matt Damon’s faggot lover, “Mark Whalberg” and a slew of others…

    • Robert July 8, 2016, 5:51 am

That is supposed to say “Deniro”…

    • Voice of reality July 8, 2016, 9:11 am

Who is jim carrey? Isn’t that the dude who’s former girlfriend just committed drug induced suicide?

    • John July 8, 2016, 10:13 am

You mean to tell me mark Walberg is gay .
I get sick of these guys Maki g money off of using guns then turn around and damn then in the same breath I think we should boycott all their new movies plus refuse to watch them when they come on TV to stop their royalty checks

  • Robert July 8, 2016, 5:45 am

Damon ain’t nothing more than a little faggot fucking hypocrite who needs someone to break off both his fucking arms and beat his own ass with them, then shove one up his ass and the other down his throat so he can hold his own hands…

  • JL Brown jr July 8, 2016, 5:20 am

Yep those Hollywood crowd open their collective mouth and crap comes out, I won’t buy any movies that those elite in Hollywood spout their crap about our rights. See how many movies he can flop in before he’s just a old used up prop. Do you remember after 9-11! He made a comment about if he would have been on that plane it would not have gone down. He believes the secret agent that he is playing. But guess what, matt is a fake a phoney.

  • FB July 8, 2016, 3:35 am

Frankly, we don’t care what Matt Damon thinks. His opinion means squat!
I will no longer watch any films Matt Damon is involved with.

  • Roy Rey July 8, 2016, 2:50 am

Matt needs to stick to acting and keep his opinions to himself. Its always been our right to bear arms and needs to stay that way .

  • Dave Hicks July 7, 2016, 8:02 pm

Boycott Matt Damon movies ! Shut up Matt Damon you are an actor not even a good one.Keep your opinion to your self and move to a gun free country where you’ll be safe and the police will protect you. What a hypocrite, anyone how makes money from a movie that uses firearms and then bad mouths the use of firearms for honest people. Didn’t violent crime go up in Australia after their gun ban ?

    • SANDMAN July 8, 2016, 4:05 am

      WELL SAID BROTHER

    • MagicDave July 8, 2016, 8:03 am

      Hear! Hear! Dave!

    • Shawn Shahan July 8, 2016, 10:38 am

Violent crime only raised 400% after their gun ban. So it really helped one part of their society, so what if it was the criminal part. And no I did not make that number up. I researched it for a college paper.

  • taxx73 July 7, 2016, 5:38 pm

Well I was going to see the new movie but not now. I will never support one of his projects again. His ignorance is unbelievable! Hey Damon if the grass is greener in Australia why don\’t you just move there and leave the law abiding citizens alone. Matt Damon is another Hollyjoke hypocrite. LEAVE OUR RIGHTS ALONE!!!!!!!

    • Steven July 8, 2016, 6:01 am

I’m with you brother! For a person who has made MILLIONS from gun toting, kill everyone movies to open his fat mouth and support total gun banishment, Matt D makes me sick. I’ll never pay to watch another of his movies. Just a drop in the ocean I know… but it’s all I can do.

    • Sam July 8, 2016, 6:16 am

Same here, I liked his movies until now.
      Boycott Boycott Boycott !!

These idiots don’t seem to understand– Australian style gun control is worthless here, they don’t have any borders with 3rd world countries like we do with Mexico.
They are also Much more protective of who the let in than we are- President Obama has allowed the invasion of criminals and is responsible for much of the crime in this country.

Australians are also paying a price as their crime rates are rising– including armed crimes– and sexual assaults have been increasing greatly– but women there have no means of defense.
If Hillery gets in women here will be even more targeted, since she condones her husbands actions, but then she only thinks of women for sex herself– they are some Sick people.

      • murphjuss July 8, 2016, 2:50 pm

        Well said. Cheers!
