Medal of Honor Recipient Dakota Meyer Stomps Dan Bilzerian, Challenges to Fight

In the aftermath of the 2017 Las Vegas Strip shooting the actions of countless people are coming to light. People have identified individuals who rose up and displayed some of the best and bravest humanity has to offer at a very dark time.

But footage of Dan “the King of Instagram” Bilzerian is just raising eyebrows. Bilzerian, a professional poker player and firearms enthusiast, first published a video of himself running away from possible shooting victims that may have needed help.

After watching the footage, Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer criticized Bilzerian for shooting video instead of taking direct action to help others.

“A woman just got shot in the head and you are running away filming. That’s not what operators do. Please stop trying to be someone you’re not,” Meyer said live on Facebook. “People are dying, you’re running away not helping them and pretending it’s worthy of a video is disgusting. This is why children shouldn’t classify heroes by their followers or their photos.”

Meyer’s statement struck a chord with people around the world. It could be that Bilzerian was stressed and making bad decisions, or maybe he was looking for a publicity boost, and it’s possible he is just being poorly represented. Still, Meyer clearly got under Bilzerian’s skin.

A later video showed Bilzerian returning to the active shooting scene. Then he tried to convince a police officer to give him a gun. Bilzerian says he returned to help the Las Vegas police after taking two injured women to the hospital in his capacity as a reserve officer.

We now know that the shooter was firing at the concert-goers from over 1,000 yards away, 32 stories up in his hotel room. It would take a professional shooter to return any sort of effective fire without putting others in danger.

The shooter killed himself after a security guard confronted him with a baton. Identified as Jesus Campos, the shooter shot the guard in the leg. Campos was the first person to confirm the shooter’s location, even before the police.

Bilzerian and Meyer have been going toe-to-toe on Instagram and Facebook, but after recent allegations against Bilzerian, Meyer wants to take things to the street.

According to Meyer, people within Bilzerian’s circle have started prank-calling his wife, Bristol Palin.

Meyer called Bilzerian out in response. “I’m done with your petty games,” he said on Instagram. “Don’t ever drag my family into anything. I’m waiting.”

“You train. I train. Why don’t we handle this like men,” Meyer asked. “Let’s take care of this like men.”

1,000 yards away? Did the author mean to say 1,000 feet away?

    • Guido Rosso October 14, 2017, 5:04 pm

      All reports claimed 400 yards.

  • Paul D Ruffle October 13, 2017, 4:50 pm

A Washington Post article with a photo diagram of the shooting site showed that the Mandalay Bay hotel was 1000 ft. from the concert venue. The shooter was on the 32nd floor of the hotel. Assuming 10 ft per floor and doing a little trigonometry yields a slant range of 1050 ft. or 350 yards from the 32nd floor window to the ground at the concert.

The lowlifes that hide in the dark and threaten from long distances are one of the worst types. Supporters of some supposed “hero” crank calling Meyer’s family. And the “hero” allows this to happen. Just judge him and his supporters not by what they say but by what they do.

Security guard was shot six minutes before the attack began, according to police.

Why are you guys spreading Disk formation? This was a FALSE FLAG DECEPTION by Government to destroy gun rights

Two internet “hero operator, wannabe Captain America” nitwits digitally duking it out, wow.

    • josh October 11, 2017, 2:09 am

Yeah, but one is a Marine and a Medal of Honor winner, and the other was booted from training for recklessness on the firing line, and thought the appropriate response to seeing a woman shot was to look for a gun instead carry her to safety.

      • Stuart Kaufman October 13, 2017, 11:39 am

Small correction: There are no Medal of Honor “winners.” No medal is a competition, and no one “wins” it. It is awarded for valor. Those to whom it is awarded are correctly termed Medal of Honor “recipients.” Using the term “winner” is considered an insult by those who receive the award.

You sir have won my MORON of 2017 award with that comment.

“Two internet “hero operator, wannabe Captain America” nitwits digitally duking it out, wow.”

Dakota Meyer is a Congressional Medal of Honor winner (not to mention a former Marine). He is a person who can be classified as the least “hero operator, wannabe…” that a person can possibly be. Being half right with your comment by correctly classifying Bilzerian excuses you of nothing.

Why not just take a knee during the next playing of the National Anthem wise guy.

      • Rod Stiffer October 13, 2017, 5:30 pm

There is no such thing as a “former Marine”, just no longer active. Glass houses and stuff.

        • Jakob McCandles October 14, 2017, 1:09 pm

I am a former Marine. In case you are too young to know what you are talking about… the term ‘Former Marine’ was coined to fix the term ‘Ex-Marine’, because there is no such thing as an Ex-Marine, only Former Marines. Might want to get some Windex… and stuff.

  • Vito October 9, 2017, 9:23 pm

Fuck dakota meyer. What an arrogant cocky prick. Cocksucker really thinks he’s hotshit now.

    • Mike Hunt October 13, 2017, 6:55 am

      Bilzerian would kick his ass.

      • Jakob McCandles October 13, 2017, 12:20 pm

        “Bilzerian would kick his ass.”

Yeah… i’m sure as soon as Bilzerian’s phone’s battery runs dead and he’s far enough away from the Mandalay hotel he’ll turn around and kick a Medal of Honor recipient’s ass.

    • Tom October 13, 2017, 10:20 am

Hot shit? No, honor? Yes. Courage? Yes. This self serving Bilzerian is nothing but a bullschitte showboat. Only fools would have any respect for that failure of a man.

      • Stuart Kaufman October 13, 2017, 11:42 am

Anyone who uses such language to describe a Medal of Honor recipient is a schmuck and a varlet. Those who have earned that award are a step above other mortals. Using such language is a better indicator of the lack of character of anyone who uses it than it is of the intended target of the language.

    • ironhorzmn October 13, 2017, 12:00 pm

You’re not fit to clean his bathroom. Isn’t the internet great? You can talk sh*t all day long and never have to back it up. Dirtbag.

    • Michael Keim October 13, 2017, 12:11 pm

What medal have you been awarded? You’re just another loud mouth short round.

    • David Banks October 13, 2017, 5:03 pm

I agree. Dakota was talking trash because Bilzerian actually found a way to earn money rather than cash in in a dubious MOH. That’s right, read up on it. Further, if everybody in the joint didn’t run for cover there would have been a lot more dead. BTW, shot in the head means DEAD, DEAD, DEAD…why risk getting killed yourself to drag out a corpse that can die any more? Also, Bilzerian is a reserve cop who was just asking another cop to give him one of his weapons. He wasn’t showing the cop his CCW, it was his reserve cop credentials. At that time, nobody knew if there was a massive assault or just a couple shooters. Bilzerian was willing to enter the fight without knowing what was really going on. He also donated 8,000 pounds of food and water to the victims and their familes. What did Dakota Meyer do?

  • Mrninjatoes October 9, 2017, 8:48 pm

Why is Gunsamerica posting such a stupid article? I come here for serious content. The shooter was also 300 to 500 yards away, not 1000.

    • Dewey October 10, 2017, 11:28 am

Serious content? On Guns-‘Murica? That’s a good one.

    • John October 11, 2017, 9:24 am

Agreed! 1,000 yards??? Then the article goes on to state “it would take a professional shooter…”

Yes, a professional shooter with a sniper-style rifle.
