Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Like, for example, getting a group of your buddies together to burglarize a home with masks, gloves, a knife and brass knuckles. Yup, you play this stupid game and you may wind up dead.

It’s precisely what happened to three Oklahoma teens, ages 16, 17, and 18. The group got together with their masks, knife and brass knuckles, and attempted to rob the residence of man and his 23-year-old son in Broken Arrow this past Monday.

At around 12:30 p.m., the group shattered a glass door at the back of the house to gain entry. Maybe what they expected to find was a bunch of household items that they could easily snatch and grab and run off with.

What they found instead was the homeowner’s son and his AR-15. There was a short exchange of words followed by gunfire, according to Wagoner County Sheriff’s Deputy Nick Mahoney.

All three teens were shot dead. Two died in the kitchen while a third fled to the driveway before he collapsed, “succumbing to his injuries,” said the sheriff’s office.

“Preliminary investigation looks like it’s self-defense. This may be a case of ‘stand-your-ground,’ however, it’s still too early to say for sure, and we’re still looking into all aspects of this,” Mahoney told CNN.

The suspects have not yet been named. However, the crew’s alleged getaway driver, 21-year-old Elizabeth Marie Rodriguez turned herself in.

Rodriguez was arrested on three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of first-degree burglary. No bond has been set.

Apparently, this incident comes in the wake of at least other burglaries in the neighborhood.

“We’ve noticed a lot more people driving slow through the neighborhood, more than one at a time,” said neighborhood resident Leon Simmons, whose house was broken into a few months back.

Hopefully, this incident puts the other criminals in the area on notice. Don’t break into people’s homes! If you play stupid games, you’re likely to win stupid prizes.

On a side note, for all those anti-gunners that say, “No one needs an AR-15,” well, tell that to this 23-year-old Oklahoma man who had to confront multiple armed intruders in his father’s residence.

Had he had not had that black rifle this story may have ended very differently. That’s right anti-gunners, whether you like it or not, modern sporting rifles do serve a purpose beyond 3 Gun competitions. For many, they are a must-have tool for home defense.

And of course looser tube took video off their channel. We can’t let anyone know that guns can be good if you want to live!

  • Valiant Thor April 10, 2017, 11:32 am

3 kill shots in a very chaotic, fast-moving and intense situation. Good shooting!

  • RetNavet April 4, 2017, 7:43 am

    BRM !!!! (Black Rifles Matter)

    • Mike Johnson October 28, 2017, 6:57 pm

You do realize that there are people who support the 2nd Amendment AND support the idea of our police not killing unarmed black people for no good reason, right racist? Nah, you don’t. #youretoomuchofapussytosaythattoablackperson

      • Scott December 4, 2017, 9:09 pm

Glad you got that off your chest.

Do you feel better now, Mike?

      • Doc Loch December 5, 2017, 11:37 am

I would agree with you, Mike, if you weren’t so racist. Just because the word “racist” has been changed by people trying to start a race war, doesn’t mean that you are not making a bigoted, prejudiced and racist statement by saying what you did. Anytime you use race to make generalizations (worse when they are not even close to true generalizations) you ARE by the real definitions, racist, bigoted and prejudice, no matter which side of the race you find yourself. Yes, blacks, whites, browns, yellows, etc. CAN all be racist, predjudiced and bigoted. Most people tend not to be until pushed by manipulating conspirators to be so.

        • Doc Loch December 5, 2017, 11:39 am

P.S. I believe that the 2nd amendment is a good statement of my God-given right. I also believe that law enforcement kills too many people. There, fixed that for you. That’s how you make a non-racist statement.

I live in Oklahoma City and have been hearing about this since it happened. I read an article about one of the young men’s uncle saying it was “unfair” that the home owners son had a rifle. It is unfair. It’s unfair that the homeowners son had to defend he and his father like that. It’s unfair that they have to replace the door that the perpetrators broke. It’s unfair that people are speaking out against the homeowner and his son for defending their property and protecting themselves. Does this young mans uncle think there should have been a knife fight? Where was his uncle when this guy was supposed to be learning that you don’t break in to people’s houses? Why didn’t he help out then?
I also find it ridiculous that whenever they mention the weapon they always refer to it as an AR rifle. Would they be any less dead if it were a different firearm? It seems to me he used the right tool for the job in a defensive manner.

  • Mark From Bristol April 2, 2017, 11:30 am

A few years ago something very similar happened to me. A fella was at home sleeping upstairs when he was awakened to crashing and banging going on downstairs. He lived alone and knew that no one should be downstairs, so he grabbed his sidearm and went downstairs and confronted four or five kids about the same age that broke in to burglarize the home. They were armed, so he shot and killed the ring leader. When all was said and done, the local bleeding hearts wrote to the paper about what a terrible thing that had happened to such a “nice boy”. And the others were tried for murder because in the state of Indiana, if someone is killed during such a crime and you are involved…murder charge against you. All were convicted and given some pretty stiff sentences, 40+ years and the like. And then the bleeding hearts took to writing to the paper again about how unfair for these nice kids to be charged, convicted, and sentenced like that for the crime that they were involved with. As far as I’m concerned, in that case and this case…I love happy endings.

    • Mark From Bristol April 2, 2017, 11:33 am

“A few years ago something very similar happened to me”. Correction, “…happened NEAR me…”

    • Ray Sneed April 4, 2017, 3:18 pm

I won’t call it a happy ending – but it is a JUST ending!

  • Chris Baker April 2, 2017, 7:38 am

From the article this sentence appears to be missing the actual number. I’d like to know what the number is although it is actually irrelevant to the self defense of the young man’s self and family.
“Apparently, this incident comes in the wake of at least other burglaries in the neighborhood.”
Even if this was the only such event, the man is still justified to defend himself. If he had not, he could have been killed by these criminals.
Anyone who owns a gun needs to first decide what they will do in a situation like this before they buy that first one. I’ve known a few people who were so anti-gun that they claimed they would not shoot another person even if they found a home invader raping their 12 year old daughter. The particular person that I posed this question to, was serving in the Navy at the time. I have to wonder what she thought those big tubes sticking out of the ship were for.

  • elgavilansegoviano April 1, 2017, 10:34 pm

…..at 12:30 pm, wearing masks, breaking in a house, what can they expect!!??, This was NO game!!, they were obviously into NO good!!……..Live like a Thug,…….Die like a Thug!!,…….

    • John43 April 19, 2019, 6:23 pm

12.30 p.m., midday, more or less. Probably less threatening than 12.30 a.m., they probably :thought people were out at work or somewhere.

  • Honest Glenn April 1, 2017, 12:51 pm

I think they should have dragged the getaway driver back into that house so the kid could’ve killed her stupid ass, too! If I was on the Jury I’d give her the “Death Penalty” & I’d want it carried out ASAP so the taxpayers don’t have to spend ANY more money on the 4 worthless LOSERS! This should send a “CLEAR MESSAGE” to you drug users out there! Do you want to die from a drug overdose or do you want to be “Swiss Cheesed” by a pissed of home owner because you broke his window! Make OUR DAY-PUNKS!! I Love These Stories! Makes me want to go buy MORE AMMO! GOOD JOB KID! 3 less idiots that we need to deport!! Looks like Trump immigration reform is working! Ha Ha

    • Fern LeMay April 5, 2017, 3:27 pm

I don’t believe it’s ever a happy thing or a nice story when someone dies, criminal or not. I believe this was a case of self defense and that the resident was well within his rights to shoot. I wouldn’t go so far as to drag another person into the house to kill them as well. She should face murder charges and be tried. Because what you suggest is an execution.

  • Beachhawk March 31, 2017, 11:23 pm

I want to know what ammunition that man loaded in his AR?

    • Trevor Teague April 1, 2017, 2:49 pm

I think the type of ammunition used is irrelevant. And at that close range, anything will be effective.

    • ejharb April 27, 2017, 5:51 am

If it’s m193 55great fmjs it’s nasty within 100yards. But with multiple hits anything works. Young man was likely into 3gun.

  • Professor Fate March 31, 2017, 10:41 pm

Here in Florida we have both Concealed Carry Permits and the Castle Doctrine. The latter means if someone enters your home with felonious intent, you have the right to defend yourself and your family however you choose to with no repercussions. This young man made the right decision and if these punks were killed, that’s just too bad. Anyone with a grain of sense in these days and times needs to buy a gun (or more than one) and learn how to use it properly. When seconds count, the police are minutes away.

  • bob g March 31, 2017, 7:30 pm

looks like lizzy might loose some pounds in the hooskow

  • Evan March 31, 2017, 7:18 pm

I like stupid people who don’t use common sense break into homes, businesses and end up a static forever on the record books.

  • Vince March 31, 2017, 6:55 pm

I believe something similar happened in Indiana and the survivors were charged and convicted.

  • Nola_Mike March 31, 2017, 6:17 pm

There should be not even a hint that the homeowner did any thing wrong. He was protecting his self and sleeping father. Because these thugs wanted to be criminals this young man had to make a decision to take a life. We know many of our young men and women serve our country and know they may have to take a life. I’ve seen many times even though they did it in service of their country and to save their and fellow service men and woman lives it’s tough to have to live with for some. Now this young man was forced to live with decisions our service man and women do, both Military and Police on a daily basis. We all know if the thugs didn’t make him have to defend his self and father he would not have to add taking a life to his worries, thoughts and burdens in the future life naturally brings. That is a heavy burden for anyone to bear! I hope he is a strong young man and handles this as well as possible. He is the victim! He made the right and only decision he could. Sending prayers…..

  • Joe March 31, 2017, 6:04 pm

Is it bad I’m curious if he had fancy bullets or regular FMJ?

  • srsquidizen March 31, 2017, 5:02 pm

Agree with other posts that this case has nothing to do with “Stand Your Ground” because it would be plain old garden variety self-defense anywhere. Alas, in many places the would-be victim would have been arrested for simply having the gun rather than for defending himself–which no jury in the civilized world would convict him for doing.

  • Dr. Velocity March 31, 2017, 4:41 pm

  • frank noce March 31, 2017, 3:23 pm

We will never know how many future home invasions and possible murders this young man prevented. He should get some sort of accommodation from the city.

  • Tommy Barrios March 31, 2017, 2:22 pm

The perpetrators were ‘misguided’. they were ‘abused’, they are ‘victims of the gun mentality’, they are ‘victims of the 2nd Amendment”!
Let the Communist Progressive Libtard ‘whining’ begin!

    • jlwils March 31, 2017, 5:38 pm

No, idiot. Every time that I read one of you Trumpkin stupid posts, I buy another gun. If you try to Make America Great Again on my property, you’re gonna be dead. Go fuck yourself.

    • Evan March 31, 2017, 7:21 pm

How many will GOD have to sort out before the stupid will learn not to break into a home or business with an armed citizen behind the door(s).

      • Dr. Strangelove April 1, 2017, 8:11 am

That was obvious sarcasm. You’re the idiot, jlwils.

  • DOUGLAS BLAIAR March 31, 2017, 2:19 pm

Lessons need to be learned by potential Perps, and this is an excellent lesson. Put up a poster on prison walls that tells all about what happened. Put one up in the guys’ locker room (girls’ too) of the local high school. Go straight, work and earn your way to what you want out of life. Don’t be caught dead trying to take someone else’s stuff…

  • R. Brett March 31, 2017, 2:15 pm

Good job son…I’m just glad I don’t live next to you. With that round having the capability to go through the bad guy, the wall and into the person in the house next door (which could be me) I’d say get a short barrel home protector 12 ga. pump, it will do as good a job, and…Your neighbors will like you a lot more!

    • Dittohd March 31, 2017, 5:18 pm

You make your choices. He gets to make his. This may be the only gun he had and I agree I am glad the bullets did not go into a home next door and kill someone else. They may have to repair walls or windows but he is alive and the thugs are dead. Beware. Now people know he has a gun and they may break in to get that.If so, hopefully they will get put down too.

    • SammColt45 March 31, 2017, 5:52 pm

An AR15 round, unless it is FMJ, penetrates less than many defensive handgun rounds. It will not go through the perp, the walls of the shooter’s house, the walls of the neighbor’s house, and into the neighbor’s body. Educate yourself on guns and ballistics instead of being so paranoid about the dreaded “black rifles.” The 5.56/.223 round is NOT all that powerful as far as rifle rounds go. It is an excellent choice for home defense with the right ammo.

      • Keith April 2, 2017, 4:20 pm

5.56 x 45 rounds can possibly penetrate exterior walls and kill others outside. That is problems two and three. Number one was he had three intruders in his house.

I am a lot less concerned about problems two and three. I want a weapon that will be able to stop multiple intruders in my trained hands. I have picked a .40 Smith & Wesson carbine that holds up to twenty plus shots of ammunition. The only thing I want to do with my firearm is shoot it at the range but it is there if I need it. Their choice was an AR-15 and it worked. That is the bottom line.

      • ed January 18, 2019, 8:23 am

So Mr Ballistics, the 5.56 round is small and has its faults, but was chosen because of its awesome habit of cartwheeling once it enters a target. Takes a heavy toll on internal organs.

  • jared williams March 31, 2017, 2:13 pm

huh? The getaway driver was charged with three counts of first degree murder? I’m not really sure that’ll stick considering she was just an accessory and didn’t kill anyone but okay.

    • KimberproSS March 31, 2017, 4:33 pm

I read that in Oklahoma, they charge accessories with murder if someone is killed while in the act.

    • Bob Peck March 31, 2017, 5:25 pm

Yes the 3 murder charges will stick against her just as they do here in Wisconsin. She drove those dumbasses to the home and would have drove them away with anything they managed to steal if they had survived. There is currently a case in Milwaukee in which 3 punks were involved in a carjacking and one 17 year old shot and killed the car owner yet all were charged with murder. This has happened previously in Milwaukee and charges stuck and those charged received prison time. Laws have been changed so prosecutors can charge and convict all involved in the commission of the crime.

      • Slingblade March 31, 2017, 5:41 pm

Hardly the same thing…no one was murdered in this instance…three people were killed in self defense by the victim of a attempted burglary, yet somehow the sheeple of Oklahoma think that charging the only perpetrator who survived with 3 counts of murder which could carry with it a death sentence. Seems totally logical!

      • Aardvark March 31, 2017, 10:58 pm

If anyone is killed while you are involved in committing a felony, you can be charged for murder in many jurisdictions.

        • Slingblade April 1, 2017, 2:10 pm

Yeah no shit Sherlock…that’s my point. That type of “logic” if you want to even dare call it that is totally F#*k’d up!

          • taxijake April 3, 2017, 4:10 pm

slingblade – from your comments and tone, sounds like you may have been a bit “closer” to home invasions and burglaries than many of us. if someone is there and part of the crew, they are responsible for whatever happens. those laws have existed in most states for many years. those of us, who take crime and the fate of victims seriously, see the logic and necessity of such laws. i feel sorry for you that you don’t.

          • Slingblade April 4, 2017, 1:18 pm

Taxifake, Yeah that’s it my “tone”…You are talking out of your ass…read all the comments here, the three criminals who were “murdered” by the other criminal were apparently all scumbags who deserved to die anyways and now fuck-tards like you want to murder her for “doing everyone a favor”…yeah seems totally logical, maybe one day you or someone you love can get a little “closer”…BTW most of the tough guy shit talkers like you would probably piss their pants in a real scenario!

    • M March 31, 2017, 5:30 pm

In some states you can be charged with murder if ANYONE, including bad guys, is killed during the commission of a felony. Felony Murder Rule. Too bad it isn’t applicable in every state.

      • Slingblade April 1, 2017, 2:19 pm

You are an indoctrinated boot licking idiot…too stupid to realize that bullshit laws such as that are nothing more than a complete tyranny in the making. There is no use in trying to explain that to a brain-washed, half-wit such as yourself, I suspect the best part of what you could have been probably ran down the inside of your momma’s leg a long time ago!

        • ejharb April 27, 2017, 6:04 am

Didn’t know they let prison bitches comment on here.
Stay in prison where you only have to worry about a beat down for not servicing bubba.
If you get out and go back to knocking off homes remember some doors are locked for YOUR safety

    • terry April 1, 2017, 11:59 am

FYI The driver that everyone seems to think is being cruelly treated by being charged with these crimes was in fact the planner and instigator of this event. She scouted the home out and recruited the three young men to perpetrate the crime resulting in their deaths and the lifelong trauma to the citizen.
none of this would have happened except for her

  • Donald March 31, 2017, 1:43 pm

I believe the homeowner’s 23 year old son did the right thing by defending himself inside his family’s home from three buglers who by wearing masks and by carrying weapons were also committing armed robbery.
I hope the young man gets counseling if he feels he needs it, as taking a life is not an easy reality lo live with over time.
For people reading this story it is very important to note that all three bad guys were shot inside the house and not outside the house.

    • Ron March 31, 2017, 2:57 pm

No need to waste taxpayer money on Public Defenders and prison accommodations. I love a happy ending.

  • P. Perry March 31, 2017, 1:22 pm

Stand Your Ground Laws are designed to protect people who are confronted by anyone who causes them to “Fear for their Lives” regardless of the age, sex, race, number, size, ethnicity or National Origins of the threatening perpetrator.
Now the only one who knows for certain if your fear has reached the level at which you “Fear For Your Life”, is YOU!! No one else can say if you did or did not “Fear For Your Life” in your own mind and thoughts at that particular instant in time. So when someone breaks into your home and confronts you, with or without a visible weapon, or runs you off the road in a “Road Rage” attack, or grabs you, if you’re a Woman, with the intent to Rape and then Kill you to eliminate witnesses, or simply aims a weapon at you in a threatening manner, you have every right to defend yourself with deadly force, i.e. Blow the Mth’r Fuk’rs head off. Now, I fully support your right to do so, however be advised that you should check your state statutes pertaining to “stand your ground” or “self defense” parameters, definitions and limitations since many states differ in their definitions of what specific circumstances “reasonably” constitute “Fear for Your Life” and as a result you could end up facing litigation for having violated some scumbag’s civil rights or some other bull crap that they or their survivors lawyers dreamed up in order to extract some money from you that the scumbag didn’t get to steal. But my advice is, If you are really in fear for your life, in any circumstance, Pull The Trigger and ask questions later, your better off involved for a while in some stupid litigation than Dead!!! Your still gonna’ get vindicated eventually by any reasonable jury in the country if you were firing in self defense out of “fear for your life” which, as I mentioned previously, Is ultimately a determination that only you have the right or ability to make!!! So Blow the MF’s Head Off!! And have a nice day!!

  • Larry March 31, 2017, 1:15 pm

Sound like a home invasion robbery that didn’t work out too well for the criminals. It’s no doubt they would have killed the residents of the home or turned them into vegetables by beating their brain out and stabbing/slicing them. Great job of defending yourself kid.

  • Michael A. Gilliam March 31, 2017, 12:54 pm

As I read these comments I’m saddened that not many of you realize that these were KIDS. I support the guy’s right to defend his life and his property and I whole heartedly support the Second Amendment but this is nothing celebrate. I know the guy that had to shoot them will probably have night mares about this for a long time. It’s not easy to take a life and when you find out they were kids it’s even worse.

    • KurtW March 31, 2017, 1:11 pm

Are you brilliantly suggesting that the “exchange of words” was about their ages?

During the incident, the age of the predators is relevant…..HOW?? After the incident, their ages are relevant HOW?
(other than the obvious “won’t be doing that crap again” benefit)

Stupid Prizes properly awarded to 3

    • Eagle71 March 31, 2017, 1:51 pm

Michael, I agree that the young adult defending himself will probably have nightmares regarding this incident, as he had to take three lives to defend himself. That said, I would be interested in your definition of “kids”, as they weren’t identified as such until the authorities took off the perpetrator’s masks. If three thugs, wearing masks and brandishing knives and brass knuckles, broke into your house, would you give them a chance to ID themselves first before you defended yourself? The events probably happened at lightning speed…not at armchair-QB speed.

    • loupgarous March 31, 2017, 2:52 pm

I’ve only gotten as far down as your comment, so I haven’t seen anyone celebrating these deaths.
And killing another human being is not a step taken lightly, but the burglars were armed with deadly weapons. It wasn’t just a “stand your ground” shooting, it was a classical case of justifiable homicide in the reasonable fear of death or grievous bodily harm – by three assailants armed with deadly weapons. Regardless of the validity of “stand your ground” laws, this was a good shoot.
Only the man who defended himself that day knows how he’ll deal with it. I hope he seeks counselling and legal counsel as well – for some land shark in an Italian suit is probably talking to the burglars’ families now, working them up to seek damages and possibly even whistling in #blacklivesmatter.
The one comforting matter is that the homeowner’s son won’t have to worry about the US Justice Department flying out to Colorado to force the state to try him for Defending Himself From Teen Hoodlums. That episode of national insanity is over.

      • loupgarous March 31, 2017, 2:54 pm

The last paragraph ought to have read
“The one comforting thing is that the homeowner’s son won’t have to worry about the US Justice Department flying out to Oklahoma to force the state to try him for Defending Himself From Teen Hoodlums. That episode of national insanity is over.

  • Chris March 31, 2017, 12:49 pm

  • Don March 31, 2017, 12:33 pm

Listen to the 911 recording of the call this young man made after the shooting. Amazingly calm. Barricaded himself in a bedroom until deputies arrived. Then unloaded the gun and put it on the bed in plain sight and cooperated with the deputies fully. A true gentleman and a hero.

  • Rich K. March 31, 2017, 12:09 pm

Oklahoma does it right – “stand your ground”, AND “If you commit a crime, and your partners – or anyone else – are killed, YOU are guilty of murder”. More states need to adopt these policies. Make things dangerous enough for criminals – even the survivors – and make the policies widely known, and all but the most stupid might think twice. The rest, Darwin will take care of.

    • Slingblade March 31, 2017, 2:00 pm

If that’s what you believe then you are a complete moron!

      • THOMAS DUNNE April 1, 2017, 4:47 am

        COULD YOU EXPLAIN YOUR COMMENT?

        • Slingblade April 1, 2017, 2:31 pm

If you commit a felony break and enter crime then you get charged with felony break and enter…PERIOD. If during the course of the crime one of your cohorts is lawfully killed by someone else then so be it, too bad for them that is the risk you take, but advocating that you or any other perpetrator should be charged with murder especially considering no one was “murdered” is absolute lunacy and is clearly indicative of a mindset totally unbecoming of what this country was founded upon! Does that help?

          • Frank April 2, 2017, 1:33 am

Not really. You sound angry like you or someone you knew was caught up in a similar situation, and not like a person who understands the intricacies and nuances of criminal law and who resists trying to politicize everything you disagree with or don’t understand.

          • Slingblade April 2, 2017, 4:13 pm

Frank, you got one thing right. Yes, I am angry because this shit can and will happen to a lot more people! Beyond that you don’t know shit and YOU sound like another indoctrinated sheep who has fried his brain on too much TV News. Intricacies and nuances you say…do you even know what those words mean or do you just think that shit makes you sound intelligent? “Intricacy” means a condition or quality of being complex and “nuance” means a subtle or slight degree of difference. I don’t think there is anything complex about understanding this bullshit law and I would also say there is a lot more than a slight degree of difference between 1st degree burglary and 3 counts of 1st degree murder. So in other words just to keep things simple…FUCK YOU FRANK you are a FUCKING MINDLESS, USEFUL IDIOT!!!

  • D.Wes March 31, 2017, 12:09 pm

Shoot to wound, I don’t think so.
Someone breaks into my home I’m shooting TO HIT.
If they live I hope it’s long enough to know they might die.

    • loupgarous March 31, 2017, 3:00 pm

In police academy, we were taught the gun only comes out after the threshold of justification for lethal force has been met. After the gun clears leather, the drill is to shoot the person creating a reasonable fear of someone else dying or being grievously harmed until this person no longer poses a threat. “Insurance rounds” in a subject who’s no longer a threat aren’t cool, but as long as the subject hasn’t lain down arms or is still otherwise physically a threat, you shoot until that’s no longer true.

  • troy stewart March 31, 2017, 11:53 am

I have no problems defending myself, family, home, or property, with whatever means at my disposal, but if any of these individuals were shot while fleeing, that’s not self-defense! I am sure the investigation and autopsy will determine the facts, but idiots who want to break into people’s home need to understand self-defense or not, it’s not worth losing your life over bullshit!

    • loupgarous March 31, 2017, 3:13 pm

Nowhere in the account does it say anyone was “shot while fleeing” – it says one of the three assailants succumbed in the house’s driveway to his injuries. With the 5.56mm round, that’s a plausible outcome in a large young man. There have been reports that the standard service round in the M4 carbine isn’t disabling enemy combatants reliably with the first few shots.

Blood splatter should be able to show where each assailant was when first shot. However, an armed assailant withdrawing from an encounter is still a plausible threat to someone who finds himself in reasonable fear for his life or safety – for there’s no guarantee short of that assailant laying down his weapon and announcing his surrender convincingly that the threat’s over.

  • Grant Stevens March 31, 2017, 11:41 am

They chose poorly. Natural selection at work. Given the name of the driver, one has to wonder if these home invaders were illegal aliens or children of such. If so, just one more reason for Trump’s wall, and a case in point why the Second Amendment is an unalienable right, not a privilege granted by government.

    • Brad Turner March 31, 2017, 1:17 pm

Two white guys and one brown of indeterminate origin. Nice try.

    • Mark Santiago March 31, 2017, 2:11 pm

So because one has a Spanish you automatically assume they are illegal aliens or children of such. For your information, I have two uncles who served their country, no not Mexico, the United States. One fought in the European Theater and the other in Burma. When the Korean War broke out, another uncle (whose last name is Rodriguez) volunteered, trained and fought with his fellow 82 Airborne brothers in Korea. Then Vietnam came along. I served and fought for my country ( not Mexico) with my fellow USMC brothers in the jungles of Vietnam. Servral of my cousins fought in that war. Sir names, Maez, Navarette, Rodriguez, Santiago, Dimas. All proud Americans. We all served with pride and dignity to PROTECT YOUR 1st Amendment right to free speech and yes even bigoted comments such as yours. We also did our duty to PROTECT YOUR 2nd Amendment right to bear arms. You should be ashamed of yourself for making such a narrow-minded remark. In the end you have demonstrated the type of individual you are. I am just glad I never had to share a foxhole with you and that I am not your neighbor. Good riddance.

      • Dittohd March 31, 2017, 5:40 pm

Mark Santiago, You are just like the Muslims getting offended because America does not want Muslim terrorist here in America. If they are Americans why are they not protesting against the terrorist???????? Why are you taking up for the Spanish thug or thugs rather than saying that whatever the race of these punks was, they got what they deserved. If their names were Smith, Jones, Clark etc. They were thugs who thought they could violate someone else’s home and they are dead because of THEIR DECISION.

  • George March 31, 2017, 11:32 am

I have had to do the same thing 45 years ago and new it was the right thing to do. You don’t have time to look for a key or ammo to load. Keep it safe but keep it loaded.

  • Bodene Williams March 31, 2017, 11:27 am

I will have used a 300 Blackout at that close of a range, make it sting a little more!

    • Michael A. Gilliam March 31, 2017, 12:38 pm

Do you think the guy that shot those three kids enjoyed it? This is not a game, this is a serious matter of being able to defend your life and your property. Stupid remarks like yours do nothing but make the opposition think that we are ALL idiots. How old are you, 12?

      • TiredTom March 31, 2017, 1:31 pm

Good for you, Mike…. this is serious business and shooter will have to live with it… but, he did the right thing

        • gym pac March 31, 2017, 2:31 pm

Yes …….. looks like Bodene should find Jethro and they can share some big man talk.

I will say, however, from a home self defense perspective, subsonic 300 blackout is a superior choice opposed to 5.56. It runs very well suppressed, therefore, saving your hearing and the round’s slower feet per second as compared to 5.56 could prove safer as related to MISSED shots which do not hit intended target.

      • Mark Santiago March 31, 2017, 2:16 pm

Mike, you expressed my exact sentiments. Many of the comments that I’ve read on this thread have given me the impression that these individuals would have enjoyed killing someone. Granted I do believe in protecting one’s self and property but making irresponsible comments makes me wonder.

        • Nick c April 1, 2017, 2:12 am

Totaly agree with you Mark. I mean I have and carry guns, but it would devastate me to have to use one for more than killing paper. I would take a life without hesitation if need be, but not happy about it at all. I think to many loose fingered people get on here and don’t ” think before they type “. Yeah this young man did a heroic act, but he’ll be messed up for life over it. An really all everyone needs to take away from this is; its better to have and not need than need and not have. God bless and hope he makes it through the next few months and years ok.

  • Robert Mercer March 31, 2017, 11:26 am

I would not even consider living in a state that will require that iback away from a situation rather than defending family home and property.

    • troy stewart March 31, 2017, 11:56 am

Educate me, what States require you to back away? Thanks.

      • Dunn March 31, 2017, 12:35 pm

Massachusetts is a state that requires you to back away, instead of defending yourself.

      • Chip Nichols March 31, 2017, 12:50 pm

        California for one…

      • Larry March 31, 2017, 12:55 pm

I believe that if this shooting would have happened CA, the kid would be in trouble…

        • Steve March 31, 2017, 1:39 pm

Pennsylvania was like that for many years. The “Stand Your Ground” bill passed in the State House of Representatives, etc. .., but our then Governor refused to sign it into Law. That was until we elected a conservative Governor who signed it within a month or so after He took office.

I, like many others, feel its a good law. However, we hope and pray there will never come a day to test it.

        • Mark Santiago March 31, 2017, 2:19 pm

Of course you have a law degree in the state of California that would support your comment. Correct?

      • Erick March 31, 2017, 2:12 pm

Robert is referring to states that had the legal requirement to retreat (or attempt to retreat) before using lethal force. NY was a state I know that had this requirement, and I believe New Jersey, Massachussetts, and possibly California and Ohio, along with a few others.
The problem with this requirement is that there were several cases where the home-owner went to prison for shooting and/or killing a burglar, or faced civil lawsuits from the burglar, only b/c they did not (or could not) retreat before firing their weapon. One case involved a person taking a shower, heard a noise, began to get out of the shower and found an intruder in the doorway of the bathroom. Intruder was shot, but I don’t think killed. However, the resident went to prison b/c she (I think it was a woman?) failed to “retreat”. Well…how does one retreat in a one-way room where the intruder is blocking the only exit? I forget the actual case name, but a google search could probably turn it up.
This is what the “Stand your Ground” laws wanted to correct: remove the “retreat” duty. That’s it, nothing more….the liberal media spread the myth that it allowed people to murder anyone with impunity – which was 100% false. All other responsibilities in lethal self-defense remained, such as requiring an actual threat to life (or serious bodily harm) with intent to harm/kill the victim, defender could not have provoked the attacker, person with weapon must be legally allowed to posses a weapon, etc.
        Hope that helps!

        • The Truth March 31, 2017, 5:43 pm

Although California does not specifically have a “stand-your-ground” law, the Castle Doctrine is similar. Under Penal Code Section 198.5, If someone forces his or her way into your home, and you have a “reasonable fear of imminent peril of death or great bodily injury,” then you would be justified in using deadly force to defend yourself. Stop spreading misinformation.

      • loupgarous March 31, 2017, 3:19 pm

In police academy, an assistant district attorney lectured us about a case in Massachusetts where a woman, her infant daughter in arms, was in her home, running away from an assailant she believed intended to hurt her and her daughter. She ran with her daughter in her arms and a pistol in her hand to the house’s basement and, cornered there, shot her assailant to death. She was sent to jail because the court determined the woman should have tried to escape through a casement window in the basement instead of killing her attacker.

      • Dennis Cavallo March 31, 2017, 9:38 pm

In Connecticut we have to back away ,Now if we trip while backing away can we then fire ?? I’ll have to look into that

  • Steve March 31, 2017, 11:22 am

So much for AR’s not being up to the task. I wonder what caliber and ammo was used? I just might
have to buy myself one. Like said, the 5 load six shooter puts ME and my family in peril. I like the odds better the other way around.
Too bad the driver got away. She deserved it more than the dope heads that listened to her. She’ll have no peace!

    • troy stewart March 31, 2017, 12:01 pm

Experts say, for home defense an AR is one of the worst weapons you could use, try a shorten 12 gauge pump, easier to wield around close quarters, wider area of impact, and will penetrate walls, doors, etc. with much more lethal force.

      • Chip Nichols March 31, 2017, 1:06 pm

Disagree. Shotgun does not have the penetration effect of AR and certainly won’t dispatch the perpetrator with the same power.

        • Chris March 31, 2017, 2:22 pm

At home defense distances, a 12 gauge loaded with 00 has MUCH more power than a 5.56 bullet. I’m not arguing against an AR in home defense. The best defensive gun is the one you are trained to use.

        • Stuart Nuss March 31, 2017, 10:14 pm

I prefer a pistol-caliber carbine (Mine is a 9mm). It is short enough to use indoors, recoil is negligible, and the rounds usually won’t penetrate walls.

      • Chris March 31, 2017, 2:13 pm

Tray, when defending your home you don’t want to “penetrate walls, doors, etc. with much more lethal force” as your family may be on the other side of those walls. Granted, you probably just miss typed, as a rifle will go through a wall much more readily than any shotgun. I have personally seen many experts suggest an AR, mostly for the high capacity. I personally go for the 12 gauge, so not arguing against a shotgun either. The main thing is that it’s a gun you are comfortable with and are accurate with. Clearly, this young man knew his way around that AR.

      • Steve March 31, 2017, 2:26 pm

Troy, that is actually the exact opposite of the truth (unless you are using birdshot, which is completely inappropriate for self defense.)
There are multiple papers and experiments on the internet, videos on you tube, etc. showing the penetration of AR vs. shotgun vs. pistol. even pistol rounds tend to penetrate more than AR rounds (especially lower weight .223/5.56 projectiles.)

      • loupgarous March 31, 2017, 3:21 pm

Actually, for close-quarters battle indoors, with friendlies possibly beyond the walls, the US Army recommends a 12 gauge shotgun loaded with #4 buckshot, because it’s lethal up close but a miss won’t penetrate interior walls lethally to unintended targets.

      • ejharb April 27, 2017, 6:17 am

I have it on expert authority that you need a double barrel shotgun and your supposed to fire a warning shot then let em “have”it.

There’s no better tactical guru than uncle Joe biden! Did you know he tought Jeff cooper and Clint smith?

      • Irondoor May 14, 2018, 7:44 am

You may be familiar with Front Sight, a well-known firearms training outfit near Las Vegas. I attended their self-defense course a few years ago. During a lunch break lecture, the leading instructor answered the question, “what is the best weapon for my wife to use in home defense? Answer: “If she is untrained in the use of a variety of weapons, I recommend that you keep a loaded AR-15 at the side of the bed in the bedroom that is away from the door. If under threat, she should retreat to that position, get down on the floor and aim the rifle across the bed at the door. If the door is opened by a perpetrator, start pulling the trigger”.

    • Rich K. March 31, 2017, 12:12 pm

She doesn’t get away clean anyway – she’s charged with 1st degree murder because she was involved in a crime, and her partners in crime were killed. I believe OK has the death penalty, too, for 1st degree murder (correct me if I’m wrong). In any case, their legislators had the right idea when they wrote that law.

Yea. Right like you can hit three targets at cqb with a wheel gun. You need an automatic hand gun at least.anAR 15 w/a short barrel will do just fine. As for as gun control goes I’m all for it 100% I think everyone needs to be able to hit there target. That’s control my point is the young man did the right thing he defended himself and his family. To bad the teens had to die like that and so young. But I agree he did the right thing I would have done the same. SRB69

    • Alan March 31, 2017, 11:27 am

I could with a “wheel gun”, why would you sell short a fine firearm?
It’s about the person behind the gun too, ya’know?

      • gary March 31, 2017, 12:06 pm

not enough people will practice the correct way to use a revolver efficiently in a combat situation. and make no mistake this is combat!!!!!!!

That IS what is being insinuated.
The pray and spray method, eh?
So, by that standard, a D.A.O. auto is at a disadvantage????
Or a pump shotgun because one must pump it?
Do you see the fallacy of your assertions?

    • Evange March 31, 2017, 12:07 pm

  • Mike Hawk March 31, 2017, 10:59 am

It was a good article until the last paragraph. The son could have easily stood his ground against the intruders with a shotgun, or like MORT said, with a wheel gun, a hunting rifle, or even a little KelTec P32! To argue this point with anti’s is poor example. Although the son did save on ammo…

    • John Wyatt Holiman March 31, 2017, 12:56 pm

I just hope this young man doesn’t suffer PTSD or other psychological issues down the road from having to take three human lives, even though they rightly deserved it.

Instead lets give him an award for taking those morons out of the gene pool and probably saving someone else’s life by ending their crime spree. And while we’re at it, when their accomplice goes before the justice system hopefully the DA will throw the book at her. Unfortunately, as I understand it, she has already bred and taunted the gene pool. At least maybe some other responsible adult will raise her kids abiding by societies rules.

    • Bill March 31, 2017, 12:04 pm

“she has already bred and taunted the gene pool. ”
Yes because robbery is a genetic trait…..sigh.

Like others I too hope the homeowners son doesn’t suffer any ill effects from his ordeal.
Though I am sad that it needed to happened I am glad that once again it is shown that gun ownership is a GOOD THING, not some evil that needs to be snuffed out.

    • troy stewart March 31, 2017, 12:06 pm

I don’t get it…if she’s already tainted the gene pool than her kids carry the same “whatever” gene you are talking about…being raised by responsible adults makes no difference! Do you even know how genes work!?!?!? Duh!

I’m surprised that one still can not find an image of the three idiots that got shot, other than a thumbnail for a single news story. The point is that they definitely look like the usual suspects. Had any sane person been confronted in their home by these guys, especially when they were armed, he or she would have responded the same way: light ’em up.

  • Centurion March 31, 2017, 10:29 am

It just came out on the news last night here in Tulsa that the female who was the driver, who was interviewed in jail by Channel 6 (CBS) the she was the planner of the burglary, and that they had done several, and that they were all up on METH! And for those who say they were “kids,” I was 17 when I joined the Marines, turned 18 in boot camp, and 19 in Vietnam. These three were full grown, dressed in black with hoodies and masks. No one could have told their age, and even so that doesn’t count in Oklahoma once you enter a domicile whether a house, trailer or motorhome if you live in it. The same holds true now if someone forcefully enters your car while you are in it, or attempts to remove you from a vehicle. I’m a retired Tulsa police officer and I’ve seen many changes in the CCW and self defense laws over the years. It seems to consistently getting better for the citizenry. Also, I’ve only seen this story re the AR15 being used in self defense ONCE by the Fake American Media.

    • Old Marine March 4, 2019, 11:27 am

A good logical decision. I agree with you but I have a different outlook on any confrontation with any weapon. When confronted by anyone deciding to do harm or steal your property, the Constitution says you have the right to defend yourself and your property. Anything else is a form of begging. Criminal minds are more than a little dumb like in this case, ” Don’t bring a knife to a gun fight ” . As for courts upholding certain laws , well the Supreme Court , in 1803 decided that Any law repugnant to the Constitution is Null and void”. Most Lawyers are completely ignorant to this because they have never been taught any different. Basically when a person is confronted with a person with criminal intent to do harm or steal property it is Human nature to react without thought and defend like a cave man Protecting his life. Man made law does NOT supersede Natural law because natural law and everyone lives in nature. In court this can NOT be denied, therefore Natural law is the basis of all laws or that law is null and void. really quite easy to prove in court.

  • mcFoo March 31, 2017, 10:28 am

Well done on the homeowner’s part. If perps understood there would be deadly consequence associated with breaking into a home, there would be a lot less of that B.S. crime activity occurring. Glad this event got some press- hopefully it will help get other homeowners on board with armed personal protection.

On the other hand, if we end up with a country full of gun control and resultant non-armed civilians, it will pretty much become open season for criminals.

  • MORT March 31, 2017, 10:15 am

The same outcome could have been made with a healthy wheel gun! Using home invasion to justify an AR15, is akin to using a tactical nuke to calm rioting in Chicago. This just opens the door to lawsuits, a good ole six shooter, and it would not have made the news in Oklahoma. Hitting three targets is hitting three targets!

    • kb31416 March 31, 2017, 10:39 am

I respectfully disagree. What if the three had dispersed and rushed the guy? 6 shots does not allow for the potential of missing, which even trained police do when under stress.
In my mind, this is perfect justification (although NONE is required) for both an AR15 and standard capacity magazines.
Next, regarding Chicago, I would not want to be anywhere near Chicago if civil unrest breaks out. It would truly be a target rich environment, and even with an AR15 and plenty of ammo, one would not likely survive it. My daughter lives there (goes to Loyola), and I worry about it on occasion because she has not been able to bring her personal AR15 with her.

    • Centurion March 31, 2017, 10:40 am

There is an old military saying that always holds true: “You fight wars with what you have, not what you wish you had.” It is entirely possible that the AR was the first, or only gun the man could get to. Second guessing what he could have used IF he had one does not really become a factor when minutes turn to seconds during a home invasion. The object is to stop the threat. This man was outnumbered, words were exchanged (such as he told them to leave and they refused and threatened him) and they began to advance on him. Also, the subjects were on Meth according to the getaway driver who later turned herself in. And as for a revolver, you have six shots. When the adrenalin is flowing there is no guarantee that six rounds will be sufficient against three attackers in a confined area. I’m a 27 year veteran of the Tulsa Police Department (now retired) and I’ve been there. I’ve carved on duty revolvers, and semi-autos, with the evolution thru the years of .38 special, .357 magnum, then .40 cal. An believe me, magazines are much better than six round speed loaders, especially for untrained civilians.

      • Nola_Mike March 31, 2017, 9:28 pm

Very well said. Thank You for your service!

    • Z March 31, 2017, 10:45 am

You actually got a great idea …

      • Gopher March 31, 2017, 2:52 pm

old idea: MGM-52 Lance with W-70 warhead

    • Jim Grant March 31, 2017, 10:59 am

The son would hve to aim a six shooter and pray that he hitall three with just five shot as ost people that have. Bottom line what does it were plan to harm him, so argument does’t hold waterwhat he used to ward the the three that six shooters only have five in the wheel as a matter of saftey

      • Brad Turner March 31, 2017, 1:27 pm

There is no reason to leave an empty chamber in a modern double action revolver. Now get back in your time machine to 1886

    • LJ March 31, 2017, 11:04 am

The purpose was to stop them, not by wounding them as some would suggest, but by ending their corrupt lives. What difference does it make if he used a howitzer?

    • J March 31, 2017, 11:06 am

Ridiculous analogy, what kind of half life does a bullet have? What 22 caliber wheel gun would have had the power the 223 has? Just because someone chooses a more modern and reliable platform doesn’t make it wrong, it whether or not they can implement it properly. If this kind of stupidity continues we will be just as divided and weak as any other snowflake. We stick together and keep our guns or loose them all.

    • Patrick March 31, 2017, 11:40 am

I think this article perfectly illustrates the beauty of the AR-15. It is a tool that can be used very effectively for home defense, even against multiple intruders. The ability to stop the threat is greatly reduced with a handgun, unless it’s in the hands of the most skilled, of which the average citizen is not. Score one for the black rifle.

    • Retrocon March 31, 2017, 12:02 pm

      Respectfully disagree.

The average person is going to “rush” in this situation, losing fine motor control, go tunnel vision. Of all the standard firearms for self defense, a rifle or shotgun requires the least practice and skill to use effectively, especially with multiple targets. With the long double action pull and limited capacity, a wheel gun is probably the worst case for an average person, with limited training.

Unless it’s all you have, or you are proficient under pressure with it, than it’s great.

  • Joey Budt March 31, 2017, 9:45 am

NEWSFLASH: Anti-gunners neither know what “modern sporting rifles” are let alone have likely ever heard of 3-gun. This is terminology for the echo-chamber.

  • Jim March 31, 2017, 9:27 am

Until the courts stop granting restitution to criminals who don’t get killed, just injured, by homeowners during break-ins, it is always best to kill all who enter your home with malicious intent.

  • WDHaskins March 31, 2017, 9:24 am

What the article doesn’t tell you is that he killed all 3 with only two rounds fired. Off’d two of them with one round. Two dead in house, one staggered in to driveway where he went to meet his maker. Woman who turned herself in (getaway driver) now charged with 3 counts of felony murder and her three kids will now have a chance at life in what has to be a better home environment, they are now in protective custody. Coming in to a home with knives, particularly in Oklahoma where many (if not most) are armed to the teeth is a real bad idea. Boomer (x2) Sooner!

    • Slingblade March 31, 2017, 11:06 am

Oklahoma is the epitome of the government-indoctrinated sheeple mentality. Getaway driver gets charged with 3 counts of 1st degree murder and you fools think that shit’s cool. God help you all!

      • troy stewart March 31, 2017, 12:19 pm

I don’t think her charges fit the crime at all. I have never understood the connection between charging one person for the death of another person when that death came at the hands of a third party. It would be different if she had control and power over the individuals killed, but I assume they were free thinking and free will individuals who made their own decision to do the crime. She definitely deserves charges connected to her involvement as the driver, but murder!? I don’t think so, that’s a perversion of fairness.

        • Roy Lee Woodruff Clagg April 1, 2017, 10:43 am

The basis in law for charging the woman with murder is fairly common, making co-conspirators responsible for what happens as a result of the conspiracy, in federal law and the laws in many states, including Oklahoma. I believe the woman has admitted being the organizer of the break-in, not the first, a fact that increases further her responsibility. The charges against her seem fair to me.

      • Rich K. March 31, 2017, 12:22 pm

So…you side with the criminals, then? You must be a SPECIAL kind of stupid, or maybe even a criminal yourself. Best thing is to make sure NOBODY involved in committing a violent crime gets away with just a slap on the wrist, while upholding the right of the law-abiding to defend themselves from those same criminals – which is just what happened here. Might make all but the most stupid criminals think twice, if they know they could be charged with murder if their buddies – or anyone else – gets killed in the process, whether the deaths were intentional or not. Goes right back to, “Can’t do the time, don’t do the crime”.

        • Slingblade March 31, 2017, 2:19 pm

You are rather clueless and haven’t had an original thought of your own in quite sometime. Have you ever stopped to ponder just what you are advocating with that ridiculous law?

      • WDHaskins March 31, 2017, 12:43 pm

God is helping us, and he helps those who help themselves. Wish these 4 had made some better decisions. The kid with the AR made the right decision. And he’s alive, and they aren’t. What could be cooler than that?

        • Slingblade March 31, 2017, 2:08 pm

Not charging the the “getaway driver” with 3 counts of murder.

          • terry April 1, 2017, 12:23 pm

She instigated , planned and recruited the three hoods to commit this crime. It was not their first one. They would all still be alive if not for her

          • Slingblade April 2, 2017, 4:32 pm

Terry that is the same type of “logic” that the liberals use to try and take away gun rights. They would say something like “They would all still be alive if not for the AR-15” Most of the people on this forum claim that they were all scumbags who deserved to die anyways, so hell if it is her fault they are all dead then why not give her a medal instead of charging her with murder. Obviously no one in their right mind is going to advocate that shit because it is ridiculous. It is just amazing to me how much the populace of this country is brainwashed into to believing we need more draconian laws. In Oklahoma the sentence for conviction of first degree burglary is 7 to 20 years in prison, and a person convicted must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence before achieving parole eligibility…doesn’t sound like a slap on the wrist to me. I really don’t think what she did deserves 3 counts of life in prison or the death penalty and if after really thinking about it anyone here still does think that then God help you!

your mouth is overloading your ass unless you have had the experience yourself. A gang is a Gang and they all suffer the same consequences.

    • Retrocon March 31, 2017, 12:03 pm

Cool, saved his life, and a little money, at the same time.

  • Don Martin March 31, 2017, 9:06 am

It’s too bad that these kids made the choice that they did, but I have to agree with the homeowner’s son and most of the people commenting. He did what was right and legal by defending himself, and they sure made the most stupid decision of their young lives by breaking in. I would have done the same thing.

  • MB March 31, 2017, 8:54 am

Honestly, I blame the parents of these moronic kids and the 21 yr old “get away” driver for raising them to be so stupid. The home owner’s son was completely within his rights. No need for him to ascertain what type of weapons they had, can’t ask that of anyone in a quick life or death situation. They could have had bananas in their hands. Bottom line, you break into a person’s house, expect to get shot.
Just wish we could knock the stupid out of some of these crooks before they get shot. Until then, shoot away within your rights…

    • Rick March 31, 2017, 10:04 am

I totally agree with your position – break into someone’s home – expect to get shot.

  • Dan March 31, 2017, 8:51 am

When a thief is caught breaking in to steal, and he is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt for his bloodshed. Leviticus

    • m.j March 31, 2017, 9:45 am

Exodus 22:2 actually this one, good point

      • Slingblade April 2, 2017, 5:15 pm

If you IGNORANT fools are going to quote the Bible then at least have the decency to do so correctly. Exodus 22:2-3 “If a thief is caught breaking in at NIGHT and is struck a fatal blow, the defender is not guilty of bloodshed; but if it happens AFTER SUNRISE, the defender is guilty of bloodshed” This happened in broad daylight at a little past high noon…So what was the point you heathens were trying to make?

    • Alan March 31, 2017, 11:29 am

That’s what I love about this site, pearls of wisdom from Dan, and naïveté from Angel.
Such is the course of humanity.

  • Angel March 31, 2017, 8:27 am

If there is anything u can prevent from shot to kill u should do it
After all 3 teens small thief don’t think they meant to kill really it’s a shame you had to kill them you could have wounded them if you were threaten
But I doubt they did I’m sure they were to escape after all they are kids

    • Chas March 31, 2017, 8:49 am

Kids with weapons can kill just as easily as adults. It’s not the home-owner’s son’s fault that these 3 half-wits tried to break-in and wreak havoc; don’t transfer blame from the perps to the victim. This is a very slippery slope and has dire consequences. Just like blaming the rape victim for being raped, bad news.

All decisions have consequences. Bad decisions have bad consequences. Think before you act, or suffer the consequences.

      • geno , March 31, 2017, 10:37 am

YOUR going to get 100% fight, to the death, no do overs!

    • Dan March 31, 2017, 8:54 am

What would you do if you found 3 armed masked men in your kitchen? I think it probable that you would have been stabbed and beaten.

      • Taw1159g March 31, 2017, 10:26 am

Thank you! These “kids” weren’t there to play a game of “tag” or “hide and seek”. They had knives and brass knuckles. I doubt the 23yr old son had the time to ask them what their intentions were. I hate that they were shot and killed at such a young age for making stupid choices, but you absolutely can’t blame the homeowner or its occupants. These laws exist for a reason. With a wife and kids at home, I would sadly have to make the same decision. And frankly, I would not be able to forgive those stupid theives for putting me in a position to take human life against my will. Nobody wants to do that.

    • john creveling March 31, 2017, 9:26 am

Well Angle First I must say you have no idea how to write a coherent letter in English.Second IF the robbers had tried to flee IMMEDIATELY and IF the homeowner had shot them while trying to escape you would have a valid point. However they had 1.broken it to his home 2. were armed 3.he was outnumbered three to one and 4. apparently did not try to leave. This homeowner had every right to defend himself and his family.Just because they were young doesn’t mean they couldn’t have killed him.

    • Matt March 31, 2017, 10:00 am

The problem with shooting to wound is they can sue you for shooting them.

    • Rick March 31, 2017, 10:06 am

Written and posted like a true victim of liberalism. I know it’s not your fault you think this way snowflake.

    • JoeTee March 31, 2017, 10:11 am

      Angel….go get some sleep!

    • Fort Cannon March 31, 2017, 10:12 am

The fact that they were armed with brass knuckles indicates they were preparing for physical confrontation. Physical confrontation coupled with the intent to steal by force if necessary. They were not the average teen just out for kicks. They were prepared for their crime, and the home owner was prepared to defend his home.

    • Ahmed N. Dangerous March 31, 2017, 10:14 am

I get the feeling that you’re not familiar with the US legal system. If you shoot “to wound” someone, even if that person is threatening your life or has broken into your home and is armed, you are liable to be sued by the wounded perpetrator for damages–and the perp will probably win. That’s right campers, you shoot to wound and you’ll end up with a lawsuit, or potentially several lawsuits against you. If you are going to shoot, you NEVER shoot to wound. Shoot to kill. Period. The dead can’t sue you. It’s a hardball world, and the irony of ironies that scumbag felons in many states, having broken into your home, can sue you for damages even if they slip and fall on your floor, or your kid’s roller skate, even if you’re still asleep. We had a case in my state where some sh*tbird was crawling on top of a man’s house, trying to find a way in (not sure where he’d find a way in on the roof) and happened to fall through a skylight and onto a kitchen counter that had a knife rack on it–upon which the perp was impaled. He didn’t die, though, and sued the homeowner for negligence…and won. Never shoot to wound; you’re dealing with scumbags here, and no scumbag is going to have moral scruples about suing you for damages if he can get away with it, even if he is clearly in the wrong. Strange but true, stories of the American legal system. Again, if you’re going to shoot ’em, make sure you shoot to kill.

    • michael b petersen March 31, 2017, 11:40 am

you are dumb as a rock . how can you possibly know that they didnt mean to kill . did you know them ? were you there ? were you part of the organized crime ring ? if so i think you should turn yourself in as well . did i mention that you are as dumb as a rock ?

    • Erick March 31, 2017, 2:52 pm

Angel, forgive my reply in advance:
*Satire / Sarcasm is turned ON*
You’re 100% correct in your assessment. First, the home-owner should have asked for the intruder’s ID to verify their age, along with their identity, right after they willingly and peacefully removed their masks of course.
Second, the home-owner should have scanned each of their brains with the handy mind-reading device everyone has. This would have verified exactly what intent the criminals had, along with the severity of the criminal wrong-doing, if it was truly “evil” or “harmless” (i.e. murder versus simple assault & battery).
Third, after performing steps 1 and 2 with plenty of time to spare – and the intruders patiently waiting – the home-owner should have compiled the results and assessed the situation, then applied the exact amount of self-defense to each attacker.
These steps are clearly logical and rational, and I’m sure all Democrats (and a few Republicans) would get behind these steps and codify them into law!
I have beach front property in Arizona for sale too.
*Satire / Sarcasm is now OFF*

    • loupgarous April 5, 2017, 1:16 pm

A wounded armed assailant can kill you, too. It all depends on whether, in your reasonable judgment, this person COULD kill you. Anyone in MY house armed with a weapon will die at some point. When, where and how depend on the circumstances at the time. But I will defend my wife and any invited guests from intruders in my home. That is my solemn duty.

  • Cyrus March 31, 2017, 8:24 am

Break into my home when my wife and I are not there and you go up against my 140lbs GSD. Break into my home while wife is alone you meet my GSD, if you get by him you meet my wife’s 9mm PX4 Storm loaded with HP’s. Break into my home while I’m there and if you get by my GSD you meet the business end of my HK45 with HP’s! Good Luck with your “Stupid Games” . . . we have listed just a few of the many welcome gifts that you will definitely receive when you illegally enter our home!

    • Chas March 31, 2017, 8:54 am

I appreciate the 1st/2nd line of defense model. Unfortunately my boston terrier would only be a distraction while the safety on my Benelli M4 Super 90 is quietly disengaged. The aftermath, if not avoidable and surely not ideal, w/could be CSI-like clean up, interior wall repair and the turds/thugs/perps exiting in plastic bags.

  • Steven L. Ashe March 31, 2017, 8:24 am

I’m now 75 years old. Perhaps I may appear to be an “easy target” for those wanting to invade my home. I have three loaded firearms ready to be used any time someone decides to invade my home. I will not stop shooting until the firearms are empty and the perps are not moving, or in any way, trying to threaten me, or my family.
I applaud the young man who wasted the three criminals who picked the wrong house and the wrong resident to invade. Good on him. If I hear that he needs any money for some sort of trumped up legal charges, I will be happy to send him funds.

  • Infidel7.62 March 31, 2017, 7:39 am

I wonder how much this will save the taxpayers and future victims in the long run. Lost property, insurance claims, court costs, incarceration costs over a lifetime of crime. This was a job well done.

    • Chas March 31, 2017, 8:57 am

At least $100k per year, per perp during incarceration. Unless of course they require psychiatric care and/or sex change operations.

All I have to say is Good shooting son, I would consider it an honor to buy you a steak dinner for two at a fancy restaurant ( if I could afford it that is).

  • Joe McHugh March 31, 2017, 7:08 am

What about the three teenager’s constitutional rights, especially the right to life? One would ask about the long lives that these youngsters still had before them. What, in that house, could possibly be worth defending with deadly force?

Those three thugs left their constitutional rights at the broken door way. The lives of the father and son were in jeopardy. Whose to say that the robbers wouldn’t have used the kitchen knives to prevent witness testimony? You might say that the three teenagers turned themselves into dead meat by using poor judgement. It’s a sad thing to say that the lives of those teenagers weren’t worth the burial costs to the county.

    • Chip j5 March 31, 2017, 7:56 am

I think it’s the brass knuckles that win over the stand your ground law. In point, had they not had a weapon (brass knuckles are considered to be a weapon in Oklahoma) your comment may have had merit.

      • Joe McHugh March 31, 2017, 3:47 pm

Chip j5, If those three thugs had the physique of pro football linebackers they could easily have broken the necks of the father and son, even without weapons. It doesn’t matter if they had brass knuckles or a WWII flame thrower, they were home invaders. Once they forced their way into the home, they forfeited their right to continue breathing.

This is the thing, Home invaders have no rights, the innocent home residents have every right to act as judge, jury and hangman. To be perfectly candid, dead home invaders cannot sue you in a civil court for using excessive force against them. Of course, the uninvited visitors would be walking and talking if they had just walked on down the road.

    • Erik March 31, 2017, 8:16 am

How about the homeowners life who was confronted.

    • danny rodgers March 31, 2017, 8:40 am

      • Steve March 31, 2017, 11:28 am

They then cry for us to save them. Wait, snowflake, the police will be there in a half hour or so. How many times you will get bashed in the face with the brass knuckles before they arrive is the question.

    • jeff lawrence March 31, 2017, 10:07 am

I think you meant to say there is nothing in this house worth dying for , They lost their rights when they decided to cross the line between right and wrong.

    • Brad March 31, 2017, 11:21 am

I have been beaten with brass knuckles and if the perp had not been stopped I may not be writing this today. They are as deadly as a baseball bat, hammer or any other like weapon. Good shooting son.

    • Rich K. March 31, 2017, 12:26 pm

Commit a violent crime against an armed homeowner, and you’ve already voluntarily given up one “right” – the “right” to continue breathing. Commit a crime, be prepared to face the consequences – including death. AND, give the defending citizen a medal for ridding society of three scumbags.

  • Somegunguy March 31, 2017, 5:52 am

Too bad those young men made such bad life choices. Swift justice is a bitch, for everyone involved, but if you’re the homeowner it sure beats getting your face caved in by brass knuckles while someone else tickles your liver with kitchenware. Prayers for all these pained families.

  • Pierre March 31, 2017, 4:48 am

  • Sam March 31, 2017, 4:25 am

It’s a shame that those people chose that path but at the same time they decided to be real adults that day by playing the dangerous game called robbery, especially with an intent to harm whomever in their way and they would’ve probably ended the son’s life since they had the tools and numbers to do so if he wasn’t armed.

  • Mr. White March 31, 2017, 4:13 am
