Turnbull does amazing work with the finishes.
Last year at SHOT Show Navy Arms announced their new take on the classic 1873 Winchester. In short, they are taking current production Winchesters and having Turnbull work their magic on them. We are talking some of the nicest color case hardening you will see. They have added to this line with a blued model. These are not just fancy finishes on Japanese made Winchesters. Navy Arms is also having some action work done with the installation of a short-stroke kit. Aside from looking awesome, these ‘73s are ready for competition.
The color case hardened model has an MSRP of $2,500 and the blued version is $2,300 MSRP.
They also had one rifle with a French gray finish. This is a prototype to see if there is enough interest to make a production run. So what about it? Is there sufficient interest in the French gray? Comment below.
Gibbs Rifle Co. (owed by Navy Arms) is also now shipping what they call “The Toughest AK47 Magazine Made. Period.” That is a pretty bold statement for sure. The examples they have here at SHOT do look and feel very robust. And if you figure out how to break one, they will replace it with no questions asked. The MSRP is just under $20.

I like the idea of the French Gray, but I would still prefer a blued barrel.
1 do like the french grey, but add a case hardened side plate to it for contract, and & will but my order in immediately!!!
I challenge you to pick up a Japanese made Winchester lever action and work the action a few times and try to convince me that
they are not the best lever actions made today! No pot metal, beautiful walnut and bluing and more accurate than any American Winchester made in the last fifty years. Yes they are expensive and yes the Japanese Government is anti gun…….but so are the American Unions that represent the last of the American firearm workers.
The unions are not anti-gun unless it is a Police union or maybe a teacher’ union is SOME states- fact. Steelworkers, pipefitters, retail grocers unions are not anti-gun. But now Mitt Romney is anti-gun. The elite will find a way to disarm the public.

What a pity. We sell all of our technology overseas and turn ourselves into the largest debtor nation in the history of the world, and then bitch about the stampings they put on the products they send back here to market to us at 3 times the price we could have manufactured them for in the 1st place!
We seem to be the only animal on the face of this planet that is hell bent on turning a good system into something evil and change our environment to one that will resemble the leftover junk in a landfill to those who come back this way one day in the future.
And, if there is such a thing as luck, maybe someone will get lucky enough to find those two documents that the founders of this once great country had drawn up “back in the day” to help our early leaders focus on what real “greatness” is all about. And maybe they will be smart enough to take what they found, the rubble left behind as a testmony to our greed and money mongering, as a warning to live in a manner that is outlined in those great documents. Maybe then we can dispense with the stampings “Hecho en México”, “Made in ________” (insert appropriate Far East country’s name), and get back to using “Made in U.S.A.” as our go-to label for our needs as a great nation.
French Grey is beautiful, now all it needs is a pistol grip stock and I’d buy one tomorrow….

There is just something terribly wrong with this American legend being manufactured in Japan, but then again, it is a replica. I won’t buy one, especially at those prices.
I’m sorry, but no matter how pretty it’s made, I have zero interest in any Japanese made gun with an American label. Especially not a Winchester. The Japanese gov’t. does it’s damndest to push the UN to destroy the US ability to own firearms, why give your enemy any support by buying a gun made by them.
If and when Winchester decides to build them in the US, a great day, till then…never will touch one of their “faux” versions.

Beautiful looking rifles..alas, just to rich for my blood. Think I have enough money to take them up on their offerings of AK magazines tho. Looking forward to adding a bunch to my stash.

I own several replicas of the old lever actions but not the 73′. I say this is a good addition to the collection. French Grey is only one way to change it up for the modern world. I hope it holds up to the weather and in colder climates. Like phone books they have their place. Well we only use phone books for backstops around our range…
