For 2016, Stag Arms is very proud to announce that, in addition to their standard mil-spec black anodized coating, select models of their tactical-style AR-15 rifles can now be purchased with Cerakote finishes directly from Stag Arms.

Cerakote, which came about in 1984 as a ceramic coating for engine headers and exhaust components, was quickly adopted by the firearms industry for being a tough and durable finish. Stag is now offering this finish in the following colors, Burnished Bronze, Gun Metal Grey, Foliage Green, and Desert Tan.

The Cerakote finish is available for  these AR-15 rifle models 1, 2, 2T, 3, 3T, 3TM, 5, 9 and 9T rifles.  The turn around time is about an additional one to two weeks and has to be added at the time of purchase.  It can not be applied after the rifle leaves the factory.

The upgrade price for the Cerakote finish is $75 compared to the $100 to $300 upcharge applied by other companies.  The coating will include the handguard, upper receiver, lower receiver, delta ring, buffer tube, A2 grip, and mil-spec buttstock.

Diamondhead furniture is about as comfortable as it gets. This triangular handguard is polymer.

Stag has also added some new features to their flag ship 3T line.  The 3T now will come with a  Diamondhead free-floating forend and polymer front and rear sights.  The 3TM (M designates Magpul furniture) will have Magpul’s MOE grip, ACS butt stock and upgraded metal Diamondhead front and rear sights.  The MSRP on the  3T is $999 and the 3TM will be $1195.

Lastly, Stag will be offering their version of a pistol caliber carbine with the Model 9.   The 9T will have the premium metal Diamondhead sights.  It will use Colt style A-15 magazines with the added advantage of last round bolt lock open. A feature that is often missing in pistol caliber carbines.  The MSRP for the 9T $1200.

In spite of all the recent legal issues that Stag has had with the ATF, the company is still intact and moving forward.  The biggest message that Stag wanted to convey at Shot Show this year is that they are still a viable company.  Fans and consumers of Stag products need not worry about their warranty  being canceled or whether parts will be available.  Stag is working hard to maintain their integrity and reputation.

Stag has a stay of execution from ATF on the cancellation of their manufacturing FFL to allow suitable buyers to take over the company. I would expect that Mark’s Dad would take over as Stag was a spin off from his dad’s business of AR parts under the Continental Machine Tool business name. CMT is located at 533 John Downey Road and Stag is at 515. They’ll continue in business because they make money and have a good name.

      BATF is still investigating.
This is their second stay of execution.
BATF is not obligated nor are they incentived to let them off the hook a second time.
      These are facts.

It is my understanding that BATF is revoking Stags license to manufacture.

I have a Stag model 8, their piston gun. I like it, it’s an affordable gas piston AR that does everything I need it to and doesn’t have any idiotic features that I don’t want. Wonder why they aren’t offering the Cerakote for the model 8, it’s really the only worthwhile gun they make.
