New Jersey Congresswoman Introduces: ’Stop Online Ammunition Act of 2015’

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Authors S.H. Blannelberry This Week

Anti-gunners never get tired of coming up with ways to restrict our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. The latest attempt comes from New Jersey congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, who last week introduced the “Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act of 2015.

Yes, to answer your question, the bill is as dumb as it sounds. As the NRA-ILA pointed out, this ill-conceived legislation would do all of the following:

  • FORCE you to submit a photo ID in-person every time you purchase any ammunition;
  • REPORT you to Obama’s anti-gun U.S. Attorney General if you purchase more than 1,000 rounds within a five day period;
  • REGISTER ammunition buyers like you in a database maintained by Obama’s bureaucrats at the Department of Justice.

Sound reasonable? Sound Constitutional? Sound like something our founders and framers would endorse?

Nope, nope and nope. Nevertheless, Watson Coleman believes it will save lives.

“Today, I stood with faith leaders, community members, and elected officials who all agree that we need to take every action available to us to reduce gun violence, and the tragic impact it has on our communities,” said the Democratic lawmaker at a press conference last Tuesday. “This bill would take the most basic steps to slow the proliferation of guns and ammunition, helping to prevent events like what we saw in Aurora, Colorado three years ago. Congress can, and must do more to keep our families safe, and we’re urging them to do just that.”

Cosponsor of the bill, Rep. Frank Pauline echoed those remarks, “Far too many times, we have seen the shocking images of unspeakable gun violence that could have been prevented. Our bill to limit the online sale of ammunition is a long-overdue common sense reform that I am hopeful will spark Congress to put aside party difference and come together to help prevent such senseless tragedies.”

“Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act of 2015” would do absolutely nothing to prevent criminals or mass killers from obtaining ammunition. Instead, what it would do is further chill the rights of law-abiding citizens by making it more difficult to purchase ammo. It also opens the door for greater government oversight and intrusion. After all, who is going to keep the running tally on who buys what when and, subsequently, who is an imminent threat and who is just a regular schmo?

    If the people are buying lots of guns and ammo, I would think that politicians would start wondering if they were the reason. Obviously our politicians are not on the people’s side, given they move to ban and regulate our firearms rather than come to us and ask why we are stockpiling. After all, stockpiling is a sign that one fears a shortage, and the simple reason in this case is the fear of a shortage of liberty. I hope the pols begin to understand we want to be left alone.

    Geez, I go through at least 400 rounds of ammunition at least once a week. I need to buy case quantities just to keep up with my competition needs. If her reasoning is right I must be a mass murderer because I have been know to place orders for as many as 24K rounds at once from online retailers. Time for the people of NJ to recall this ignorant person they elected, she is obviously suffering from advanced mental incapacitation.

    Just looking at her and the people around her that she call community leaders and elected officials, is enough for me.
    The previous commentor mentioned medical badging as a way to make it easy to catch a rapist, maybe DNA barcodes attached to each individual at birth along with some profiling could keep people like her and others from getting elected in the first place.

    Hey America, welcome to New York State Hell. Our Dear Governor Andrew Cuomo’s S.A.F.E. state gun law already requires a database on who buys ammunition. Yup, want to buy a five round box of shotgun shells or a 50 round box of .22 caliber rimfire ammunition? Well, it’s N.I.C.S. phone call time and your name is recorded by Big Brother as a possible “terrorist”.

    And what do many New Yorkers do now? That’s right, we drive to Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts or Vermont to buy ammunition. I live in Syracuse, which is located dead center of New York State. I haven’t purchased a single cartridge in New York State since Our Dear Leader rammed his anti-gun law through the New York State Assembly and Senate in November of 2013. That law was presented for a vote at 11:30 at night and passed by 11:45 pm. No debate was permitted because the Republican state senator majority leader struck a deal with Governor Andrew Cuomo. “I will only introduce the S.A.F.E. anti-gun bill for a vote if you, Mr. Governor, declare an “emergency” to obviate the three-day debate requirement. The word RINO comes to mind.

    That Republican Senator has recently been indicted for fraud in a scheme to funnel taxpayer dollars to his son’s failing business. My own Republican New York State Senator was next in line the Job. He is a true pro gun rights guy but six upstate Republicans voted Against him in favor of a New York City area state Senator. Thanks to the Republican State Senators from Rochester, Buffalo and Albany, another RINO leads the New York State Senate.

    Hey, any of you registered Republicans who sit on your hands during the primaries, think about voting more often. If your state ends up like the People’s Republic of New York, the person in your mirror will be to blame. I’m on a first name basis with a gun dealer who runs a brick and mortar store in Pennsylvania.

    Wouldn\’t it be easer to take all the black thugs and send them back to Africa. That would cut gun violence in 1/2 instantly and would be more helpful in the long run

      That’s as bad as saying everyone who owns a gun is a terrorist

      Racist views are as narrow-minded as the politicians

    I think we can stop by requiring at birth that all male genitals be registered and penis printed and have testicle tags inserted in the seminal tube to identify the rapists throughout their life times. Arrests could always be made of any man found walking down the street for “Possession of Rape tools”. This will control and stop rapes permanently.

    I think we should maintain a salt water lake well stocked with Tuna. We feed them Mayo and pickle relish, collect them , grind them up and have instant tuna sandwiches. I’ve got other great political ideas so elect me like you did her cause I’m 75 and have a lot of spare time on my hands and want to get paid to be stupid too.

      Truly…& that’s really what it’s about. There is an Intelligence out there, the true Enemy of mankind, who wants to remove any way for us to protect ourselves against tyranny, seeks to turn men feminine, women masculine, & eradicate any semblance of what the Enemy’s ultimate object of hate, our Creator, meant for us to enjoy. That’s who puts all this crap into motion…The Utmost God-Hater, King of Crap, & Father of Lies.

    This is exactly why they should never have been given the right to vote, they are not wired properly to understand what protection of the family is, they are wired for nurturing, as we are not great at nurturing . I also think they should not be able to drive, hold down certain jobs, and own property except under certain conditions. Now I know I will be bombarded with all kinds of my being a cave man and more, but history proves me right.

  • Joe May 26, 2015, 5:49 am

    It’s back door gun registration and the congresspeople that support it must be voted into retirement !

  • DRAINO May 22, 2015, 1:37 am

    LOL! What ever she is, she is one of the many liberals that seem to be confused about their last name. I mean think about it….its almost a pre-requisite if you are a psycho left-wing liberal, you have to have a hyphenated last name or 2 distinct last names. What is up with that?! I know….slightly off topic.
    To the point……P1$$ up a rope, ya Lib-tards! Now they are attacking guns online. Keep your Bleepin’ hands off my guns and ammo! And my internet!!!
