Overview

TruGlo is best known for created the original TFO day/night sight, by combining tritium with fiber optic in one sight. For 2017 they have introduced several new great products.

TFX Pro

TruGlo started with their tritium + fiber-optic technology, putting them in a compact form with a snag-free design and longer sight radius. The durable construction of the TFX Pro is designed to be impervious to oils, chemicals, cleaning solvents and ultra-sonic cleaning processes. Illuminating elements are encased inside a chemical- and shock-resistant capsule that conceals the fiber so it cannot be seen by the target. The CNC-machined steel is protected with a rust-proof fortress finish, and there is a highly visible white ring surrounding the front fiber to make it even more visible, encouraging the eye to rapidly focus on the front sight. All of this and no batteries required. MSRP: $172.00. Shipping now.

Tritium Pro

The new Tritium Pro uses Swiss Tritium for maximum brightness front and rear. The CNC-machined steel construction is coated with a Fortress Finish that provides a permanent protective coating that is rust-proof. It employs a snag-resistant design that fits standard holsters. These sights come in two choices of heights, standard and suppressor to work with handguns with optics and suppressors. MSRP: $149.99. Shipping now.

The TRU-TEC XS Red Dot is a 30mm red dot unit with a cantilever mount.

TRU TEC XS Red Dot

TRU TEC XS is a 30mm red dot optic with cantilever mount that brings lots of high-end features for a budget price. The sight is designed so it has an absolute co-witness height of an A2 front sight and standard height flip-up sights for a consistent point of aim.

The unit runs on one 3V-CR2032 battery, and a spare battery tray is included. Battery life is greatly extended by Motion-Sensing Wake/Sleep technology. When the optic or weapon is moved at all, the dot is on. When the weapon sits idle for a programmable amount of time (10 minutes, one hour, or 12 hours) the dot will sleep to save power, waiting for your next move. The allows for thousands of hours on single CR2032 battery.

The TRU TEC XS use a 2-MOA reticle for precision aiming with click windage and elevation adjustments. The multiple brightness settings are accessed through digital push-button controls. MSRP: $258.00. Shipping now.

I have the Tru-glo TFO sights on every pistol I own. They always seem to exhibit a level of brightness that is conducive to picking up the sights quickly without being a distraction or a night vision spoiler.

I have had problems with the sight I have purchased within the last year or two though; the fiber optic/tritium tube tends to come out of the front sight. I had far-less-than-concerned response from their customer service department, and actually had to remove the sight and send it to them before getting a replacement. The process took several weeks. In discussing this with other competitive shooters I have learned that I am not alone. All front sights now get a proactive drop of cyanoacrylate adhesive.

    Be advised, and shoot safely.
