New York City Mayor Responsible for Cop Shooting?

Pop quiz: A sociopath fatally shoots two police officers execution-style while they are sitting in a patrol car, who or what is responsible for their untimely and tragic deaths?

The gun? President Obama? Lax firearm laws? Poor policing? The victims? City politicians? Video games? Violent movies? Drugs?

From my perspective the answer to that question is almost always: the person who pulled the trigger. Yup, that’s who is responsible for the crime. Sure, if the shooter had an accomplice or conspirator, then that individual is responsible as well.

Yet, for various reasons, there is a tendency for people to put blame where it doesn’t belong which is ultimately what’s happening in New York City right now as police officials are blaming Mayor Bill de Blasio for the death of two officers: Rafael Ramos, 40, and Wenjian Liu, 32.

Ramos and Liu were ambushed by 28-year-old Ismaaiyl Brinsley last week. The two officers were in their patrol car when Brinsley walked up to it, drew his gun and shot the men in the head at point-blank range. Shortly thereafter, Brinsley took his own life.

Clearly, Brinsley is responsible for the murder of these policemen. But some leaders in the law enforcement community are pointing the finger at de Blasio.

Brinsley, the man responsible for killing those police officers.

Ismaaiyl Brinsley, the man responsible for killing those New York City police officers.

“Mayor de Blasio, the blood of these two officers is clearly on your hands,” Ed Mullins, president of the sergeants association, said in a statement.

“It is your failed policies and actions that enabled this tragedy to occur,” he continued. “I only hope and pray that more of these ambushes and executions do not happen again.”

Patrick Lynch, the head of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, also blamed de Blasio.

“That blood on the hands starts on the steps of City Hall in the office of the mayor,” Lynch said in statement. “When these funerals are over, those responsible will be called on the carpet and held accountable.”

Why are they blaming de Blasio?

Well, following a grand jury’s decision not to indict officer Daniel Pantaleo in the death of Eric Garner, who died from compression of the neck and chest after Pantaleo put him in a headlock in July, de Blasio said he was “astonished by the decision” and called it a “very painful day for so many New Yorkers.”

For NYPD officers, they felt de Blasio threw them under the bus, according to Lynch. But that still doesn’t explain why Brinsley shot and killed two officers. On his Instagram account, not long before he murdered Ramos and Liu, Brinsley referenced Garner as well as Michael Brown, the 18-year-old who was fatally shot by a Ferguson, Missouri, police officer following an physical altercation between the two men.

“I’m Putting Wings on Pigs Today,” wrote Brinsley. “They Take 1 Of Ours…Let’s Take 2 of Theirs #ShootThePolice #RIPErivGardner #RIPMikeBrown.”

He concluded with, “This May Be My Final Post.”

There’s no mention of de Blasio or his policies on crime. As for a motive, it appears the shooter wanted revenge — for the deaths of Brown and Garner. But Brinsley also shot and wounded his ex-girlfriend before he killed Ramos and Liu. What motivated him to do that?

The point is a simple one. While de Blasio may have disrespected his police force and said some things that fomented the outrage following the non-indictment of the officer who killed Garner, he did not pull the trigger. Brinsley did. Brinsley is responsible. He had a history of violence and mental illness. He was a ticking time bomb.

I’m not a fan of mayor de Blasio, but I’m not going to blame him for a crime he didn’t commit. As a society that values essential liberties we must resist the urge to politicize these tragedies and we must remember to place blame where it ultimate lies: on the shooter — not the gun, not the law, not a politician, not a video game, etc.

The blame starts at President Obama’s door. He’s repeatedly declared cops as racist when the facts of the case did not support his claims , including when his own Department of Justice determined that police acted properly.

Cambridge – A police officer responding to a suspected burglary in progress instructs a black Harvard professor, homeowner to step outside the home as is standard practice across the nation for the protection of the officer and the individual who may have a bad guy pointing a gun at him.

Treyvon Martin – Despite the best efforts of Obama, Holder and the prosecution ( which included hiding key evidence) it took the jury only hours to find that Zimmerman shot in self defense. What the press knew and did not share is that Treyvon Martin was a thug, drug user, drug dealer and by all evidence a repeat home burglar. The chief of his school police force had ordered his officers to minimize reports of black student crimes and actually fired a number of officers for providing information to the police investigating the death. Even legendary civil rights attorney Alan Dershowitz went public with his condemnation of the illegal tactics used by the DOJ and state prosecutors.

Ferguson Again Obama condemned the officer and continued, knowingly lying about the event. His own DOJ had determined that the highly televised “witnesses” were lying and that after interviewing more than 130 witnesses there was not one witness whose story was consistent with the physical evidence and supported ANY charge against the officer. However, there were dozens of witnesses (black and white) whose description of the events matched that of the officer.

Obama, the mayors and police chiefs of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Baltimore, Boston and other cities with large African American populations have been and remain cowards for not telling the truth……… hands up don’t shoot is a lie used to stir up conflict and violence across the nation.

FERGUSON instead of being a symbol of black abuse at the hands of police is a giant fraud on Americans of all races perpetrated by those who are either cowards or supporters of using lies to gain political advantage, or both.

Public servants are aware that when they say, ‘life ain’t fair for minorities’ the malcontents are hearing, ‘the white man owes us’.
When Obama says, ‘cops target minorities’ the blacks hear, ‘we need to get even’.
de Blasio said he was “astonished by the decision” and called it a “very painful day for so many New Yorkers.” Brinsley perceived his words as, ‘white people don’t care if we die and so revenge is the best answer’…so he killed a Hispanic and Asian.
Nobody ever said criminal racists are the brightest bulbs but they do hear what they want to hear and I blame Obama and de Blasio for leading the criminal activists and looters down the path.

aint that the truth! they are supposed to lead by example and he certainly succeeded on this one. hope he can sleep well.

i pray the next mayor can help erase the target now placed on uniforms.

It would be nice if there were simple answers but even the most simple of answers quickly becomes complicated and lost in the mud. Almost everyone wants to point to the gun culture and guns in particular for every perceived depraved violent act committed to the fire arm.
The root cause can be directly found in the individuals who destroyed our public school systems, demoralized dedicated teachers, and instigated program that destroyed all moral and ethical influence in our schools.
When I was in school the number of firearms in society was actually greater statistically than they are now. We had no violence in our schools, teachers did not feel threatened by their students, and more importantly students were just that students there to learn and become members of society.
The social progressive’s have destroyed all of that our schools now are not places of education but simply places of indoctrination and in many instances though more than daycare operations.
When I was in grade school every boy on the playground had a pocket knife, often referred to as pen knives, and if you are really special and lucky you had your official Cub Scout pocketknife. But there was never a single stabbing or act of violence connected with the fact that every boy had a pocket knife. In fifth and sixth grade almost every boy once you hundred safety courses and in many instances gun safety courses primarily to ensure that you forget your hunting license. Many boys in my classes brought their shotguns or rifles to school, left them at the office, pick them up on the way home so they could hunt on the way home. And if you are really lucky to be able to attend a more affluent school, high school, many had rifle teams.

But there was not a single mass shooting, teachers did not worry about being molested and raped by their students, we had the best educational system with the highest achievement scores of any industrialized nation, and more importantly we had a much more peaceful and respectful society. It really doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see where the real blame should be placed. There’s always been members of our government that were dissatisfied that the American people had any freedoms whatsoever. The same people were aware that they could just not step in and take those freedoms away for no logical reason.

Solution creator reason! Destroying the fabric of our society, destroy the morality of our society, destroy our educational system of our young people, and then set up situations where violence was not only supported but glorified. An official example of this was the actions there were instigated by Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, the US Atty. Gen., and the department of alcohol tobacco and firearms. They facilitated the transfer of illegally purchased firearms to the Mexican cartels even going as far as to threaten gun dealers that if they did not fall into line and make the sales they would lose their licenses. These career politicians and their facilitators needed a reason to show the American people that Americans needed to give up their right to keep and bear arms and to do this he tried to make a case that Americans were responsible for all of that Mexicans laying all over the streets in Mexico. This may have worked had it not been for good individuals seeing the dangers of such actions basically blew the whistle and shine the light on these individuals and their corrupt dealings.

Two things in closing first of all I apologize for the length, and second of all I challenge taking Americans to really look at the differences between present America and America in the 50s. The only major difference is who was controlling our children and what they learned and then you decide who was at fault for not all of these officers executions but 99.9% of all gun violence and even racial unrest in our cities.

    POP QUIZ ANSWER >
Maybe all he needed were some rebel rising race baiters, and not an accomplice or conspirator, as you say.
Maybe the murderer had leaders he looks up to for guidance, like Obama, Holder, Sharpton, Jackson and Mayor de Blasio.
    Some quiz.

  • Charlie January 5, 2015, 10:05 am

LEADERSHIP IS A GIFT THAT FORGOT DE BLASIO. HES A POOR EXCUSE FOR A MAYOR AND YES WORDS DO HAVE CONSEQUNCES. HE SAID THE WRONG THING AT THE WRONG TIME..FERGUSON WAS A JUSTIFIABLE SHOOTING.”END OF DISCUSSION” SUPPORTING RIOTERS IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND THIS JERK MAYOR DESERVES THE DERISION OF THE POLICE DEPT. DID HE CONTRIBUTE TO THE PROBLEM “YOU BETCHA” I WOULD PREFER HIS RESINATION BUT LIBERAL WACKOS LIKE HIM HAVEN’T GOT THE BRAINS TO KNOW WHEN TO DO THE RIGHT THING

    • Russ January 5, 2015, 11:04 am

      Your right Charlie.
Dems don’t give a dam what the people think.
All those backs and he still doesn’t get the hint.

  • skipNclair January 5, 2015, 9:12 am

No gun is ever responsible for death, just as no words are responsible for any death, words and weapons are but tools for the person or persons using them. The odds are great that if not these two cops, then two others would have been his victims, regardless of what the mayor or anyone else said. Trying to blame anything but the person or persons responsible for this is no different then the gun control freaks blaming the guns instead of the individual.

    • michael January 5, 2015, 11:46 am

Unfortunately words do incite riots and bad behavior in human. Study history for your knowledge study Karl’s paper then look at world history for the last 100 years along. Wise up dude.

      • Connie January 6, 2015, 10:31 am

Correct. I don’t subscribe to this whole sissified ‘Words Hurt’ campaign and the like My answer to that sort of hand-wringing psychsocial-babble is nearly always “Thicken your skin!” I believe this to be especially now considering the sheer volume of information with which we are constantly bombarded.

However, though the words and weapons may only be tools, the intent or implication BEHIND the words must be considered. I am disturbed by the direction I see our First Amendment rights headed. We currently live in a social and professional climate where special rights are given to some groups while others are denied that same protection. I hope others will steadfastly support the capture and retention of truly FREE speech for ell. How better to do so than by supporting our Second Amendment rights?

  • DGinGA January 5, 2015, 9:08 am

The reason Mayor DeBlasio is being blamed is because during days of riots and so-called protests in NYC, there were groups that chanted, “WHAT DO WE WANT? DEAD COPS! WHEN DO WE WANT THEM? NOW!” over & over. The mayor repeatedly said how he understood the protesters’ rage, that they had reason to express themselves, and that his intent was to allow these riots and disruptions and necessary to raise public awareness of law enforcement injustices. Another reason was his numerous appearances and meetings with Al Sharpton, a convicted felon and virulent racist. I was in the NY area during these events; the national coverage didn’t show the ‘dead cops’ chanters or point out the DeBlasio-Sharpton connection.

  • DGinGA January 5, 2015, 9:02 am

The reason DeBlasio is being blamed is because during days of riots and so-called protess in NYC, there were groups that chanted, :W? DEAD COPS! WHEN DO WE WANT THEM? NOW!

  • Rob January 5, 2015, 8:34 am

I agree when it really comes down to it, the murderer is responsible.
But… if I act in a way toward you, or direct language at you that would anger a reasonable person, or incite a person to violence, then I could be charged with disorderly conduct for my words and actions without ever touching you.
If I lie to you, put you in an emotional state, and in some way coerce you to murder someone, then I’m an accessory, if not an accomplice. That’s what is being done, it’s pure psyops; mass brainwashing. The mayor owns a piece of it. Sharpton and Obama own a piece of it. Michael Brown’s family owns a piece of it.

  • JED. January 5, 2015, 7:35 am

You fail to mention in your article how candidate De Blasio during his run for office showed his lack of love and respect to the NYPD. His entire campaign ran on how the NYPD were a bunch of racist cops who went around violating the rights rights of minority’s. He has been adding fuel to this fire for some time now. His remarks and criticism of the NYPD and the events that occurred in Staten Island is what led this coward to believe what he was about to do was necessary to revenge the deaths of two criminals that are now marters to the minority community. So to say that the blood of these two brave officers is on the hands of city hall is a great truth! God bless the NYPD and the true heroes who put there lives on the line for all no matter what race, creed and religion!

  • fred January 5, 2015, 6:25 am

That’s the problem with our society today we’re too lax in our own society and not alter to the dangers around us be more alert shoot first ask questions later………

  • Richard Basham January 5, 2015, 6:14 am

I couldn’t agree with you more. The Mayor had nothing to do with the deaths of these two police officers. In addition, it was unnecessary to put this person in a choke hold if he was refusing arrest. They could had just taser the individual with out making physical contact. If it was true that the individual was selling cigarettes illegally on the street corners was it necessary to go that far and end up killing him over a few pennies on cigarette taxes. The act diplomacy was never us nor was common sense It would be great it our police officers would stop acting like a military force and act like officers on civil patrol. It would be better if they get trained on maintaining the safety and peace of the population and not go off for terrorist training in Israel.

    • Evan January 5, 2015, 9:46 am

The NYPD doesn’t carry tasers. While it’s true that the act of selling cigarettes by no means warrants death, it isn’t the fault of the individual cops that the city of New York made it an arrestable offense. Given that it was, they were right to fight back against a man resisting arrest. The fact that his obesity and underlying health issues killed him isn’t the cop’s fault either. The real issue here is the nanny state that sends cops out to enforce nonsensical laws that are only “necessary” because a pack of cigarettes costs $14 in New York.

    • Russ January 5, 2015, 11:32 am

      .I’m going to make a dumbass list;
      1. Larry
      2. Richard Basham
Hey Richard, who do you think ordered his police force to go out and put pressure on all the illegal cigarette sales?
My GOD are you Dems that dimly lit?
Start thinking, your making my head ache and I don’t want it to blow up.

      • Larry January 5, 2015, 3:57 pm

Russ- I appreciate getting on your list, but – hopefully – it won’t turn into such a dumbass that I use a possessive pronoun in place of a contraction that represents a declarative statement. Didn’t they have 3rd grade in the trailer park where you grew up?? 😉 Seriously, if I was on your ‘good’ list and not your ‘naughty’ list, I’d seek mental help.

        • Russ January 6, 2015, 3:39 am

          My head just blew up.

          • Connie January 6, 2015, 9:30 am

In case you missed it Russ, that stunt Larry just pulled is known in argumentative circles as a non sequitur. It’s a logically fallacious tactic in which a person’s answer does not logically follow from the previous argument or statement. It’s often an indicator that the user holds a weak position in the argument and/or is out of ideas.

As a bonus, we get with Larry’s statement a near textbook example of irony. Carefully read this line culled from the statement submitted by the person who presumes to lecture another about spelling and grammar:

“.. .it won’t turn into such a dumbass that I use a possessive pronoun in place of a contraction that represents a declarative statement.”

It is because of guys like Larry that I, against my libertarian impulses, support background checks.

    • mike ehrig May 20, 2016, 10:34 pm

you seem to have all the answers and solutions…..they happens to be 2 fresh opening in new york….think you can do a better job.

  • Thomas Davis January 5, 2015, 5:49 am

I disagree vehemently with the author of this article. Warren Wilhelm a.k.a. “Bill deBlasio” incited, encouraged and enabled a great deal of the idiotic protest and other vile actions taken against the NYPD. As a high profile civic leader, and elected official, the required level of personal responsibility for his words and actions is inherently far higher than the ordinary citizen. While technically not “legally” responsible, his position in a sane society requires a level of moral responsibility, which he has failed at miserably. But then again what should we expect from a commie/socialist ideologue whose primary constituency is comprised of anarchist and other assorted trash. We can only hope that the last decent person to leave NYC remembers to turn out the lights on the douche-bags who elected Comrade Wilhelm.

  • mtman2 January 5, 2015, 4:30 am

    Lets put it another way!
Suppose the mayor was a Republican and said similar things but in reverse and to black leaders were shot execution style.
Would the media stop talking about how the NY mayor is guilty of murder? Naw it would get so predominant and LOUD 24/7 that that mayor would be forced to resign, period. ~!

    • Russ January 5, 2015, 11:09 am

I’m sure they would have a team of lawyers led by Holder indicting him for accessory to murder.

    • Larry January 5, 2015, 12:28 pm

You have to be kidding me. You think that liberals are as knee-jerk ready as conservatives to blame others? That’s just laughable on the face of it. Liberals would be looking at the conditions that created the person – just as they tried to do during the still-hated New Deal and Great Society. However, no longer are we waging war on poverty (you never, ever hear anyone except Bernie Sanders talking about reducing poverty); what you hear is about waging war on the poor. Rush, Hannity, et all have you guys so ginned-up with fear (and selfishness) that your concern for your fellow man would not fill even one of Jesus’ sandals.

Conservatives are controlled by fear, and it’s not their fault.
      http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-human-beast/201104/conservatives-big-fear-brain-study-finds

Conservatives, led by ‘success’ preachers, have completely turned away from Christ. They worship money and do not help their fellow man.
Matthew 6:24 – “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

In Luke, Jesus could not have been more clear:
      Luke 12:33
Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.

      Luke 14:13-14
But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.

There are surely old-style conservatives who still believe in the Jesus of the Bible, but you won’t find them in leadership positions. Instead, you find hate mongers and money worshipers and people like Newt Gingrich (3 times divorced, cheated on his ill wife and worshipped money).

When was the last time you heard of a conservative (or anyone, for that matter) selling all possessions and following Christ? And yet most of you think you’re going to Heaven. That is a laugh, though you won’t be the one laughing throughout eternity. However, if you really and truly believed in the Bible, you’d be worried about your everlasting life and where you’re going to spend it instead of worrying about spending money on that new, luxury car.

      • HistoryRepeats January 5, 2015, 2:20 pm

“You think that liberals are as knee-jerk ready as conservatives to blame others? That’s just laughable on the face of it.”[Isn’t it Liberals that blame inanimate objects, [the guns themselves], or the NRA for the gun violence? Is this not a knee-jerk reaction as opposed to “looking at the conditions that created the person?]

“Conservatives, led by ‘success’ preachers, have completely turned away from Christ. They worship money and do not help their fellow man.” [THAT is certainly a blanket statement; I have no recollection of your interviewing me. My preacher is no “success” preacher, and identifies them as the apostates that they are. We have not “turned away from Christ”; quite the contrary, and strive to follow His teachings as closely as possible.]
        “Luke 12:33
Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.” [Like many who handle the Word of God carelessly, you take this out of context, if you are applying it to conservatives as a group. There is no “corporate salvation,” as many false churches teach. Salvation is available only through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which is predicated on repentance of sin: no repentance, no salvation.]

“Instead, you find hate mongers and money worshipers and people like Newt Gingrich (3 times divorced, cheated on his ill wife and worshipped money).” [To many, (or likely, most) Bible Believers, Newt Gingrich is not viewed as a Christian.]

“When was the last time you heard of a conservative (or anyone, for that matter) selling all possessions and following Christ?” [This instruction was directed to individuals that had made a god of their money and possessions; it is not a requirement to be destitute to enter heaven. And while it is true that riches have a tendency to occupy an inappropriate amount of sinful man’s attention, money and possessions in and of themselves are not sinful. It is what one does with them. It is the same with guns; inanimate objects cannot be evil, as evil acts require volition. Yet many liberals brand guns as evil.]
“And yet most of you think you’re going to Heaven.’ [Do you think that YOU are going to heaven? If so, why? What have you done that you think merits your entrance into heaven?]

        • Larry January 5, 2015, 3:54 pm

          To History Repeats:

About liberals hating inanimate objects being a knee-jerk reaction: Yes, it is. I have often taken liberals to task for hating/fearing an inanimate object; that’s like hating the sun or a rock. Crazy. I have 11 Class III ATF licenses (more probably any of you nutbags) and my liberals friends actually come to an understanding of that before my conservative friends. (a liberal with guns??? Impossible! they say)

Your other points are pretty one-sided; carving out exceptions as if they were a rule.

And what makes me think I’m going to Heaven? Nothing. I was raised Southern Baptist, but had bailed by the time I was 12. I’m an agnostic. I think there is an ‘intelligence’ in the universe, but that our minds will never be capable of understanding what it is or how it works. If you think Jesus is the Savior, perhaps you’ve never read about Zoroaster or Mithras or Lord Krishna or any of the other 12 ‘saviors’ that happened prior to Christ and the 5 whose stories are almost exactly the same, but came thousands of years before Christ. I could go on and on about how the Bible is an invention of man; the inconsistencies, the myths, the integration of Pagan ritual (where do you think Christmas comes from and why do you think early American settlers would severely punish anyone who practiced it?). You see, I’ve read ever religious text at least a couple of times (and my bet is that you never, ever read the entire Bible twice – or the 3x like I did) and Christianity is just warmed over myths. Frankly, it doesn’t matter if you hear God in your head, like Ted Cruz has said he does (methinks his meds need adjusting) or you think Buddha has something to teach you; nothing in any religious text is new; no commandment is anything but common sense. If you think that gays are an abomination, do you take the proscription about wearing cloth of 2 different fibers, in Leviticus as well, as seriously as that? Don’t make me laugh. Christianity, like all religions, is cafeteria-style; everyone takes what they like and rationalizes the rest. I’ve never met 2 Christians (or Islamics or Jews or Catholics) who can agree; not ever, not once. So – go ahead and tell me how great YOUR brand is. I laugh.

          • riggarob January 5, 2015, 11:18 pm

            AMEN !
Me thinks that you make VERY strong points, well thought out and written.

          • HistoryRepeats January 7, 2015, 4:52 pm

You are quite right that many, if not most people that describe themselves as Christians use the Bible cafeteria style, picking and choosing what they want to believe or obey. This is the reason there are so many “Christian” denominations. I put the word “Christian” in quotation marks because it has many different meanings today. When the New Testament was written it had only one: “One who follows Christ”. Most self-described “Christians” probably will tell you they call themselves Christians because they go to church, or were baptized, or “believe in Jesus”, (as though Satan doesn’t “believe in Jesus”!), etc.

At least your right on two points: Christmas is a pagan holiday incorporated into “Christianity” by the Roman Catholic church; and the second point is your not going to heaven.

Personally I have read the Bible through more times than you probably ever will, but, unlike you, do not keep track for bragging purposes, or whatever reason you do.

I’m sorry that you’ve squandered so much time and energy looking in the wrong places for Truth, though I am not surprised that the Holy Spirit didn’t speak to you through God’s Word: “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2:14). You see, as you are still natural, (unsaved), there is no way you CAN understand the Bible. You must first admit you are a sinner in need of salvation from the just consequences, (eternal damnation) of your sin, confess to Almighty God, and beg forgiveness.

I was raised Roman Catholic, and thought the Bible a bunch of hooey; it wasn’t until I started studying the Bible, (not just “reading it through”), that the Spirit started to guide me to what He knew I needed to understand. I reached a point, (38 years of age, almost 18 years ago), that I was studying Romans. I realized that the best I could do of my own efforts, (obey the “priest”, [I was still Catholic at the time], tithe, do good deeds, etc, etc, ad nauseum], was die and spend an eternity in hell. It wasn’t until then, that I realized that I could never be “good enough”, and I confessed my sins and begged God to save me from the hell I so deserved. IMMEDIATELY, I knew that I had gone from a “child of wrath” to a “child of the King”.

Also immediately, the Bible was reconciled in my mind, whereas before it was a hodge-podge of confusing and often contradictory stories, as it is to you.

The “wearing cloth of 2 different fibers”? That is part of the ceremonial law, which was a depiction of the saved-by-grace-through-faith child of God being steadfast in his living for God, (living separate from the world), as opposed to one foot in this world, and one in the next, as so many “Christians” live. But I don’t estimate my adherence to God’s Word by what other “Christians”, (Ted Cruz, perhaps?), do; I use God’s Word as the sole rule, (ruler, measure). In this, I often fail miserably. Have I sinned today? Yes. Did I confess and repent? Yes!

I have found that the unsaved who wish to “poke-holes” in the Bible typically use the Old Testament Law to point out that Christians don’t live by that, which makes them hypocrites to those ignorant of God’s Word. Jesus was the fulfillment of the Law, which is to say the ceremonial Law; those which were fore-shadowing things to come. He did NOT end the obligation to observe “Thou shalt not kill”, etc. That is moral Law.

Your having “read the entire Bible twice” did you no good, and for which I’m sorry. Perhaps you could try to STUDY the Bible, instead of READING it like a pulp novel. I will pray that you will seek the Truth found only in the Bible, and nowhere else.

The cops disgraced the uniform and dishonored their dead brothers and their families. Whatever their beef with the mayor, he didn’t cause, in any way, the murders. (nor, btw, did Obama) A great case be made about the ‘no background check’ for individual purchases in the state where he got the gun being culpable. The mayor has only done what he got elected to do. He was elected by the citizens to protect and serve them – not to protect and serve the police before the citizens. What the cops want is no oversight (ie. no interference) in how they abuse citizens. I have friends that are police here in Texas, and to a person they were ashamed of the cops’ behavior. (not all – some refused to turn their backs – though, I’m guessing they’ll pay for exercising their freedoms – maybe even get Serpico’d)

But to turn a funeral into a private vendetta against a mayor duly elected by the citizens is an insult to everyone.
I would expect that kind of neanderthal behavior here in Texas, but not in NY.

The reliance on “universal background checks” is so misguided in that the scope of them has been carried too darn far. I am a “convicted felon” who was able to own firearms prior to the “Expanded background checks” becoming common place and now am a “prohibited person” so what changed? Did I suddenly become a more dangerous person? The so called felony occurred in 1966 and I have NEVER been charged or even performed another act that would make me a “person of interest” since that time. So once more I ask.. did I suddenly become a danger to mankind?

Where the HELL did this guy come from!
What a heaping, fresh steaming pile you just dropped.
Larry, pull your head out, and go back to your party, and tell them you tried hard but couldn’t sway the public to see things the Democratic/Liberal/Socialistic Communist way.
How is it your the 1st to reply, not only to the article, but to yourself?
I’m really getting to wonder about this forum.

I never said that felons should never have weapons – and I don’t believe that they should be denied universally. I don’t think a felon who wasn’t convicted of a violent crime, or a felon who’s violent crime was more than 20 years ago, should be denied. Nor do I think that they should be denied the right to vote (that the Republicans for that; they think that criminals tend to vote Democratic – and that’s true, so it’s their way of denying yet more people the right to vote).

Background checks are not a panacea and I’ve challenged liberal friends of mine to come up with some concrete, workable solutions for gun crime – but they have yet to offer anything except background checks. I’m a firm supporter of the 2A, for the same reasons the Founders put the 2A in there in the first place.

You are not a New Yorker… You were never a member of a Uniformed Force of NYC. You don’t get it, like you don’t get 9/11 and what it did to NY City. This Mayor allowed the Protesting to get out of control…… He allowed the screaming of KILL COPS… His lack of actions/actions woke up this sleeping killer…….. Again…. turning backs on the MAYOR, the most Liberal anti cop Mayor NY City has ever seen….. you simply don’t get it. Not your fault for not being a NY’r/
