President Obama Blames Pro-Gun Laws for Recent Shootings

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Authors Current Events Jordan Michaels This Week

When asked at a press conference last weekend about the motivations of the shooter who murdered five Dallas police officers, President Obama said Texas’s open carry law is partially responsible for the tragedy.

Kathleen Hennessey of the Associated Press asked the President if he could “help us understand how you describe [the shooter’s] motives”: “Do you consider this an act of domestic terrorism?  Was this a hate crime?  Was this a mentally ill man with a gun?  How should Americans understand why that happened?” Hennessey asked.

The shooter – Micah Xavier Johnson – made statements before and during the incident in which he outlined his motives in no uncertain terms. He said he “wanted to kill white people, especially white police officers,” according to the Dallas Police Chief David Brown.

This, apparently, wasn’t clear enough for the President, who sidestepped Hennessey’s question by saying that it’s “hard to untangle the motives of this shooter” and that he’ll “leave that to psychologists and people who study these kinds of incidents.”

Instead, the President doubled-down on what he sees as Texas’s bad gun laws.

“Part of what’s creating tensions between communities and the police is the fact that police have a really difficult time in communities where they know guns are everywhere,” he said.

“At the protest in Dallas, one of the challenges for the Dallas Police Department — as they’re being shot at — is because this is an open-carry state, there are a bunch of people participating in the protest who have weapons on them,” he continued. “Imagine if you’re a police officer and you’re trying to sort out who is shooting at you and there are a bunch of people who have got guns on them.”

It is true that between 20 and 30 individuals were carrying AR-15’s the night of the shooting, and for this reason police initially believed they were dealing with multiple shooters. But going back to these facts as a response to Hennessey’s question demonstrates once again the President’s desire to use tragedy as a means to push his anti-gun agenda.

And he didn’t stop there.

He also noted that Philando Castile – the man killed in Minnesota last Wednesday during a traffic stop – was, in part, to blame for carrying his concealed handgun.

“In Minneapolis, we don’t know yet what happened, but we do know that there was a gun in the car that apparently was licensed, but it caused in some fashion those tragic events,” the President said.

The EX president is a horses ass.

  • Alan August 25, 2018, 12:26 am

It’s not President Obama any longer. There is no reason to show the worst president ever any type of respect. The guy had an opportunity to bring this nation together; instead he upheld criminals, torn apart the racial gains made in the last 20 years and provided protection and services to illegals. He repeatedly worked to erode the Second Amendment and the Right of the People. How is that deserving of respect?

  • Dennis M July 22, 2016, 1:01 am

What Obama fails to realize is that he is as responsible for the Dallas and Baton Rouge shootings as if he had pulled the trigger himself. One was ex Army, the other ex Marine. Obama has had 8 years to build both mental and physical progams to help our veterans. Ask any veteran how likely they would be to seek help from the broken system that VA hospitals are backed up for months, if they can get in at all.
Please do not blame law abiding gun owners for his failings to help them cope.

  • Ricardo July 19, 2016, 5:55 pm

Dear president Obama; in Mexico the goverment close all the gun shops in 1970. Now, 46 years later, we have more guns in the streets than in most US cities, including nice AK’s, M16’s, RPG’s, Barrets and other beauties.
The best part, is that all those guns enter the country via underground, without a traking number so you can´t figure when or where they came from. Whorst of all, especially for you politicians, is that the importers/sellers don´t have to pay any taxes…
So go ahead with your gun controls, play the game for the owners of the world economy, but remember that “Those who do not know history, are doomed to repeat it”

  • Jeremiah July 16, 2016, 11:36 pm

I believe that if obama wants to know who is responsible for all the recent shootings, all he has to do is look in the mirror. His lack of leadership is the only reason for all the turmoil in our Nation today.

  • slfree July 16, 2016, 2:21 pm

If Obama’s lips are moving, he is telling a calculated lie.

  • bob July 16, 2016, 10:35 am

I don’t like Obama anymore than most of those posting here. I think he’s dishonest, arrogant, and an elitist. He has however somehow managed to convinced enough American voters to win the presidency not once but twice, okay? With that said however, I wish those commenting here and on other websites about his gun control ideas would refrain from the stupid, childish, and sometimes obscene comments and insults.
Calling him names like Obummer, claiming he’s secretly plotting the downfall of the US, calling his masculinity into question and other similar remarks doesn’t portray gun owners in a positive light. It does just two things. First, it insults the roughly 50% of Americans who voted for him by painting them as stupid, naïve and foolish. Insulting people is hardly a productive way of change their opinions. Second, it reinforces what media pundits say about those of us who think he’s 100% wrong on many issues including gun control- that we are ignorant, hateful, and quite possibly dangerous bigots.

    • hey July 16, 2016, 7:35 pm

Listen Bob, the 50% that voted for him are immigrants and lazy people wanting government entitlements, loans, green cards, and the corporate world to hire them over white people. Also “some” of the normal working tax paying black people still feel hated from our culture’s past so naturally they will vote for someone who will stand on their behalf. Unfortunately gangsters are a big part of that cround as laws for criminals “selfish people” are now even more lax. The other part of the cround is just going to vote democrat and sponsor democrat to their children until the day they die, Bin Laden could have became a Democrat president if he servered 2 years as a seneter. We already know in Obama’s case you do not need a validation birth certificate and in the case of Hilary you can break every law concerning national security information, as the FBI looks the other way. The people should be demanding for the FBI to be overhauled by the way.

    • hey July 16, 2016, 7:49 pm

I stand corrected, legal aliens of family members that wish for them to have green cards and entitlements of those blood lines. Now the rest of the can end up like bankrupt California.

    • Dan Carroll July 16, 2016, 8:41 pm

Well, he is a muslim communist. The people who voted for him are stupid, naive, foolish and many of them live off the govt.
That is not calling people names, that is stating facts. The 90% plus Blacks who voted for him because he is black, are racists.
Again a fact. They voted for him based on color not the content of his character. Those of us who know who he is and what he stands for should speak up and tell it like it is. The OTHER side has no problem calling us names no matter what we say.

    • Chinch Bug July 17, 2016, 9:37 am

\”…he’s secretly plotting the downfall of the US…\”
Tell us Bob, what would Ubama do differently if the crazies were right; he was engaged in taking America down a few pegs? Perhaps it could be marketed as \”fundamental transformation\”.

    • Larry hasbro August 24, 2018, 2:34 pm

You talk like a liberal. Husein Obama. And his boyfriend mii
chael oops mischelle are two of the biggest racist bigoted blacks. Hussein who helped orcastrate the murders of our 5 finest officers killed by the cocaspritors BLM who he invited to the white house PRAISING them all before they went to see him they were preaching death to all pigs and white people. The trigger man who killed the 5 cops stated he was inspired by him to do this crime. So don’t preach about racsim and calling toilet SCUM Obama names. Just go away people like you are A**holes

  • Russ July 16, 2016, 1:37 am

This so-called President is a sick joke. He goes to a funeral for white cops murdered by a black and lectures us on why black people don’t trust white cops. He disgusts me.

  • mike ehrig July 15, 2016, 10:30 pm

obummer, the great divider…..his best plan is to make us all sheep and he will guarantee our safety because he knows best and is always there for us. ye gad, i think im gonna throw up. he wants total control…..all he needs now is to declare martial law and suspend elections for the duration. hes the main reason trump looks good and im voting for him. hes an extremist in the opposite direction from the current list of liberal choices.

    • Garry July 16, 2016, 10:36 am

I heard he already signed the papers for martial law months ago. of course I could be wrong but that is what I heard

      • Steve July 17, 2016, 12:27 pm

We’ll probably find out he hss stealing them to wear them and us non-Millenials are ultimately at fault for not accepting him outright as a dystopic black hermaphrodite

  • Jim July 15, 2016, 6:31 pm

Okay, forget BHO for a minute. We all know everything he says is crap We must focus on the future. Each and every one of us must go out and do everything we can to get people to vote for Trump, even if you don’t like him. If HRC gets in, it’s game over for all of us. Heck, if you find someone that hates Trump too much to vote for him, have them vote third party. JUST DON’T GIVE THE VOTE TO HRC. She is dangerous to this country in ways you can’t imagine. We have to keep her out of the White House.

  • Duane July 15, 2016, 3:57 pm

Obummer is BLACK & MUSLIM. These are the only 2 groups of people he cares about and will go to any length to protect these people and will never admit the truth. He is the worst POS POTUS in history by 10 fold. This piece of crap needs to be impeached immediately due to the racial wars he has personally created in America.

  • Andrew N July 15, 2016, 3:54 pm

You “gun people” are so dumb! Of course it’s not a hate crime! The police weren’t targeted because they were Black or Gay, they were WHITE! Don’t you know that just because the criteria for a “Hate crime” says “attack based on color or member of a group” means Black or Gay? “White” isn’t a color. Police aren’t a “group” What dummies! This Administration considers Whites and Police as “acceptable” targets, not people. It doesn’t matter it would take 40 YEARS for all the Police shootings of Black, justified or questionable, to equal the number of Blacks killed by other Blacks EVERY YEAR. None of that matters because our “President” says so. Whites don’t matter. Law Enforcement don’t matter. Only career criminals that are Black matter. They should not be killed by White cops NO MATTER WHAT. And THAT’S the message from the White House and Dept. of Justice.

  • booger July 15, 2016, 3:12 pm

Does this guy really believe that having less guns on the street would in some unintelligible way
would have stopped this maniac from carrying out his evil plot ? Does Obama really believe
that the people of this world are so stupid that they would never be able to find a way to make
more guns ? I have heard people say that Obama should be impeached I must disagree
he should have been impeached 7 years ago .

  • perlcat July 15, 2016, 1:55 pm

Just wondering. Since that animal in Nice used a truck, will president Dumbass be telling us the problem is easily available trucks? Is he gonna blame the “obesity epidemic” on forks? And, even more importantly, why is anyone stupid enough to believe what he says?

  • Roger July 15, 2016, 1:26 pm

Obama is such a pussy really. He never even handled a gu, He comes out from nowhere and suddenly he professes gun laws are responsible for the recent insanity. Ahem, guns have been around for hundreds of years. It has only been since the last 7 years that mass killings have become so frequent. Perhaps it is Obama that is “partially responsible” for the killings, not Texas gun laws, or any other laws for that matter.

    • Ron July 15, 2016, 11:21 pm

What has directly caused all of this insanity is 7 1/2 years of putting up with this current, so called, President. He is driving people insane. He has divided this country in ways that nobody could ever imagine. Can’t wait until he is gone!

  • Nick Penque July 15, 2016, 12:15 pm

In light of all the previous tension between the police and BLM,there should of been a restraint on BLM members carrying long guns in a supposed “peaceful protest”,these members distracted LEOs and thus the reason they were shot in the back.I think those BLM members that were run down and eventually caught should be on trial for accessory of murder charges.Of course as we all know too well BLM members always get a free pass when they “peacefully protest”carrying weapons and causing Civil disobedience by blocking highways and roads! The gloves should come off and arrests should be made by LEOs against this terrorist organization that George Soros and his top henchman Obamma have created!!!!!
Without enforcement of laws you have no order such as the case of Ferguson Mo.where the BLM “peaceful protesters”looted, burned and destroyed innocent people’s businesses, and not one protester was held accountable for their actions!!The so called Wild West was never so wild as that day, probably because everyone carried a deterrant on their hip to maintain Law and Order, the movies are a misreprensentation of how quiet and peaceful those days were, and how low the murder rate was at that time. That is how Law and Order should be,if your a criminal, don’t blame anyone but yourself if you get shot dead, you are not a Victim!

    • Russ July 16, 2016, 1:39 am

There you go… if the Feds want to keep vets and others from having / buying guns, they should start with anyone in the BLM movement which has demonstrated that they are a clear and present danger if they possess a gun.

  • jim July 15, 2016, 11:25 am

As a responsible firearm owner, I want all other firearm owners to be as responsible as am I. I want all other firearm owners to care about America as I do – my home, the place where freedom rings, where you can think and act and speak and practice faith freely and respectfully and responsibly. I think that is the point that the President is making. When you have people who own firearms not acting responsibly, even criminally, that’s where things get problematic. But like all problems, there are answers and solutions. We are struggling with this problem right now. How to preserve our right to keep arms while ensuring the safety of our society. We’ll work to find viable solutions, because that is what America does. Don’t blame the President for seeking to come to terms with this situation. Have faith that we will work it out and continue being the best firearm owner, the best person you can be.

    • Ymmot July 15, 2016, 12:04 pm

    • Ymmot July 15, 2016, 12:19 pm

I see by many of the comments here to mealy mouth IDIOTS and MORONS hang out here too!
The 2nd Amendment and the Constitution was was NEVER supposed to be regulated and twisted into obscurity! The Founders wrote TOMES of words warning against this very travesty that is happening now and has happened!
IF we start taking apart the Constitution to suit every WHINING SNIVELING SHEEP complaint, THEN we would NO LONGER have a Constitution!
ALL GUN LAWS THAT RESTRICT LAW ABIDING CITIZENS ARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL, that includes the 1938 & 1986 Gun Control laws!
Those of you WHO don’t agree we me are the VERY REASON we have a government intent on stripping away every Constitutional RIGHT that some SHEEP coddling Politician wants to impose!
      AMEN!

    • Roger July 15, 2016, 1:29 pm

The focus is on guns and should not be. Killings of this type are a recent phenomenon. The focus needs to be on why people are doing so many horrible acts. The focus needs to be on people, and what happened to them. Only then will we be able to find solutions, but it will take probably a generation to reverse the insanity, sadly so,

He’s a rag-head muslim, front and center, sympathizes with a the muslims and rag-head causes, and proceeds to make an ass of himself every time he speaks. Can someone explain to me how pro gun laws causes a good law abiding citizen to turn into an evil shooter. If the FBI,ATF, and any another law enforcement doing proper back ground checks on people purchasing guns then this good citizen turns into
something evil because of pro gun laws is a lot of hogwash.
Since Obama and his AG and other Obama’s YES people does not take responsibility for their action, they can’t comprehend
A SHOOTER is the one at fault.
Even some Gun Shop Owners refused the sell of guns and ammo to the wrong people, it shows me they have better common sense than some of so called leaders

    • Alan July 15, 2016, 11:38 am

He doesn’t care. he’s pandering to the base, the wacko’s from all the various anti-gun groups that fear their own shadow, and somehow believe that they have a Constitutional right to be made safe by and from others.
he doesn’t care about anything other than his money and power, and his “legacy”.
He’s done nothing for the poor, except to make them poorer, and to add former Middle class to the poor.
In a socio/fascist regime, there are 2 classes, and he’s bound determined to rid the U.S. of the middle class, because the middle class is where the majority of freedom loving, gun owning Patriots are.
historically speaking, the middle class has always been a problem for socio/fascists.
Because we usually won’t kowtow to their B.S..

  • Kimberpross July 15, 2016, 9:40 am

January 20th 2017 can’t get here fast enough. This liberal college professor moron is like a deer fly buzzing your head with his political rhetoric. I find it interesting that if there were many legal carry individuals that no shots were fired. The liberal gun grabbers want the uniformed to believe in instances like this, especially in Texas, there would be a huge gun fight between the good guys and the bad guys. Mass confusion on identifying the good from the bad, innocent bystanders wounded, yada yada yada… But it demonstrates the CCL people realized there were many armed police officers there and the right answer was to run. Now, I am sure if while running, they came upon someone aiming a rifle at them, and they felt imminent danger, they will draw and fire. But the right first answer is remove yourself from the danger. I am sure no one fired other than the police and the criminal or the liberal media would already have the additional shooter drawn and quartered and Obama would be using them as an example why the whole incident occurred.

  • Pontificant July 15, 2016, 9:37 am

Ok, Ok, We should compromise for Obama’s sake. We should give up our guns, so the police will know who is shooting in situations like Dallas, If each of us turns in our guns and only carries grenade launchers, then only the criminals will have guns and the rest of us will be safe. I admit, an M-79 would interfere with the drape of my suit, but it’s a price I’m willing to pay, if it will make the streets safer for the police…

  • John E July 15, 2016, 9:35 am

  • J Jordan July 15, 2016, 7:47 am

Once again the race baiting blubbering idiot in the white house spewed out more false and dumb ass statements, if the so called open carry (which you have to get a license for) in the state of Texas is why this terrorist shot down 5 Dallas officers then why havent all the other states that have open carry laws that dont demand a license has mass shootings. The problem is people listen to all this bull I have never seen a firearm of any kind shoot anyone without a live person pulling the trigger all these citys, states and countrys that have much stronger gun laws have much higher violent gun crime. Once all law abiding citizens are unarmed and the criminals out there that dont follow the laws anyway will have free rain on everyone without fear of any harm coming to them. There are more people killed every day by baseball bats, knifes, pipe and fist than br firearms so lets first ban all of those so we can save all these people if these politicians really wanted to save lives !

  • Infidel7.62 July 15, 2016, 7:36 am

  • Lamar July 13, 2016, 5:12 pm

I saw that you mirrored Jim Jefferies gun control bit and I even read down through some of the posts.
I saw one was even from an Australian shooter.
I generally speaking agree with Jim Jefferies and I’m ready for your posters to spit bile, hatred and curse words at me.
I’ll be happy to interpret all that do ONLY that as frustration that they have no real logical counter-arguments.
Maybe go back and read what that Australian shooter wrote.
AR-15s are generally banned in Australia but he got a special license to own one.
I think that’s probably where America is headed with weapons similar to the AR-15.
Anyone can read here some of the other complaints your readers make that are addressed by Jefferies. When the American delegation was in Paris to sign Peace Accords with the Vietnamese and incensed American officer pointed his finger at the Vietnamese and said “The United States won EVERY battle! Every time you stood and fought we killed you and won!”
The Vietnamese gave a wry smile and said “And yet…..here we are!”
When someone here asks in frustration “Should my right to have an AR-15 be infringed because those people mis-used them?”
The answer, ultimately, I think, is going to be “Yep.” You can scream and howl to your heart’s content and if you’ve built your business life around trading in them, then, yeah, you’ll have a decision to make to continue to trade in them illegally or find something else either in the field of guns or out to supplement your lost income, but, yes, you’ll lose the right to bear THAT arm the same as America has lost the ‘right’ to get easily prescribed opiate/opiode pain-killers.
It’s not me, you’re arguing with, but public opinion.
You can quote statistics, as so many of you do, to your heart’s content, doesn’t bother me and it also doesn’t move me. If you’re being honest you’ll know statistics on a piece of paper aren’t going to move the needle of public opinion either.
I’m sure there are people here who’d happily make the claim “Not only should I be allowed to have an AR-15, but I should be able to make it fully automatic. I also have the right to own a fully functioning ZSU-23-4, an SA-7 launcher and all the TOW missiles I want.
I actually believe there are people who follow this website who firmly believe they DO and SHOULD have that right.
Federal law and public opinion says ‘no.’
Gun people, by that I mean those people who enjoy and love guns, shooting guns, holding guns, giving guns girl’s names, whatever, have had the benefit of the doubt of non-gun people for decades. The gun-people have had a never-ending chorus of “We nnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeddddddd those! We mmmmmmmuuuuuuuuuusssssssttttttt have those!” and non-gun people who don’t think about guns, don’t know anything about guns, don’t like guns, don’t want to think about guns and don’t want to learn about guns have, mostly, given in. That strategy has had some horrid consequences.
Every Orlando, every Sandy Hook is forcing non-gun people to educate themselves about guns and there are too many facts against that type of gun.
Right now you have the right to have a BB gun.
I don’t think that right is in any jeopardy at all.
Right now you do not have the right to own a ZSU-23-4 or an M-60 belt fed machine gun or a TOW missile.
I don’t see that changing anytime soon, either.
So, we’re going to have to live somewhere in the middle of those two.
That means it’s just a line we draw and have to draw as a society.
I get it, you don’t think it’s fair to lose your ‘right’ to have something because of someone else’s bad decisions.
The guy who wants to spend the rest of his life popping Oxycontin like they’re Tic-tacs doesn’t either, but it isn’t good for society for us to have such easy access to such dangerous things. In the case of opiates/opiodes the jury, the data and public opinion are in.
The pro-gun side isn’t offering any substantive solutions to this problem the way the AMA did for Vicodin.
If you want to keep your Bushmasters, find a solution that keeps them off CNN or non-gun people will demand their solutions get tried.
Spit your venom to your heart’s content, but it’d be better to make a logical argument.

    • Will Drider July 14, 2016, 12:18 pm

Your position is badly flawed as is your desired compromise result. Popular and limited opinion can drive political decisions and law especially when supported by media bias.
When Prohibition was passed only Law Abiding Citizens complied. Local bootleggers, international smuggling and organized crime filled the void. All in spite of the Laws. Prohibition was recinded.
Drug access restrictions and laws have increased since the first drug law in 1914. Law Abiding Citizens complied. Local growers and labs, international smuggling and organized crime filled the void. All in spite of the Laws. Pot has now been legalized in several States with activity to increase legalization.

We can see a pattern of human human nature, greed, supply and demand. If there was a total ban on high capacity magazines and firearms that take them what would happen? I think due to the state of the U.S. (all inclusive) some Law Abiding Citizens comply. Others would not but not use the restricted items for criminal activities. Underground manufactures, international smugglers and organized crime will fill the void.

Please tell me how a restriction or ban will eliminate the root cause of gun violence or eliminate these magazines and firearms from our streets? Don’t use the crutch of it will “reduce gun violence or if it just saves one child its worth it”. As you answer, consider how many lives it would be worth for you to give up your other Rights. YOU are the one putting a price on them. I am looking forward to your reply.
      Respectfully,
      Will

I suppose that since I am a veteran I am a potential terrorist in your eyes as well. And yes, I do own a couple AR 15 pattern rifles, in fact one of them is the ever so much more deadly and powerful Bushmaster XM 15 e2. I bought it 3 days before the Lanza punk made them infamous.
Oh and speaking of spitting as you were, it looks like you have some Bloomberg still dribbling off your chin.

    • 157 July 15, 2016, 5:47 am

Lamar, it seems you are comparing all gun enthusiasts to prescription drug abusers.
How do you come about that comparison?
Pot was not legal in the 80’s when I was at that “experimenting” age but even at 14 years old I had no problem finding it.
EVERY firearm is man made, by machinists that are rapidly being replaced by computer operated machines that can turn out a receiver in a blink of an eye. Meth is not legal and is a MAJOR problem yet anybody can learn how to make it on the web. I am sure there are programs for machines floating around as well.
SO,,,,, how do you keep illegal items out of NON-law abiding peoples hands?

I would like to know so I can STOP locking my car and house and not worry about things being stolen.
Your problems today are from POPULATION and the mind blowing growth of it.
Toss a rat in a trash can with some grain and it’s happy
Toss 50 more in there and they will EAT EACH OTHER
There is your problem, there is less than 9 acres of United States property per person in the USA right now, this includes water, swamp, mountains, ice and desert.

It AMAZES me how everyone fixes the symptoms and ignores the problems,, stop ignorant people from breeding so fast and your problems will fix themselves.

      YAY RAH GO DUGGERS!!!!

      • Lamar July 17, 2016, 8:42 pm

I’m not comparing the owners, I’m comparing easily acquired guns to easily acquired prescription drugs.
It was too easy for too long to get Vicodin.
Go to a doctor, complain of some pain or other and he’d write you a scrip.
        Easy and legal.
Now, it isn’t because society’s opinions have changed.

    • carter July 15, 2016, 6:12 am

i agree with some of your assessment. i think its probably inevitable that military rifles, probably even most handguns, will be severely restricted if not banned in the future.
however, the vast majority of “gun-people” in the US are not perverted barrel-strokers as you suggest. if you want to engage our community, you might want to do so respectfully, instead of climbing on the lib-tard wagon of saying gun appreciation equates to some kind of masculinity deficiency. i get so tired of that crap. if you dont like us, why are you even here, in this digital pro-gun venue? i dont post racist remarks in the comments section of black publications, but if i did it would not be much worse than how you choose to address all of us.
anyway, back to what we agree on, i think eventually america is going to try your liberal, anti-gun crowd’s proposed solutions to stop gun violence. without confiscation, it would take many decades, probably generations for the availability of guns to reach a point low enough that a determined mass-shooter to be cannot get his hands on a semi auto rifle. so, my prediction is your additional gun laws will not reduce mass shootings any time soon.
hell, even if we cooperated with confiscation (which is just not going to happen), practically every law enforcement vehicle now carries an ar 15. if killing a cop becomes the easiest way to get an AR15, do you think criminals wont target police?

      • Lamar July 17, 2016, 8:50 pm

I’m sorry you disliked the way I phrased things. I do appreciate that you were able to start and finish, though, with the substantive issues.
We haven’t had any kind of severe restrictions on guns in this country.
It is the one thing we haven’t tried and I don’t accept that anyone can know today, for a certainty, what the results of them will be.
Yes, I think that if the only way to get an AR-15 is to kill a cop then the guy who wants to shoot up a movie or a club or a mall won’t be able to get one. Those people target those places because the do NOT want a fair fight. They do NOT want to engage with police.
Jim Jefferies’ argument about the economics of the black market is perfectly valid.
To acquire an AR-15 on the black market in Australia costs $32,000. If you’ve got $32,000 you don’t NEED to be a criminal. You’re a great little saver, keep going!
Why wouldn’t I come to a pro-gun site to discuss the potential benefits of banning certain kinds of guns?
Doesn’t make much sense to go to a dog lovers’ site to discuss the same topic.

    • Robert Morris July 15, 2016, 7:29 am

You have obviously never heard of the Bill of Rights. So if 100% of the public thinks slavery would be a good idea, I suppose you would support it? If you like Austriala so much please mover there.

      • Lamar July 17, 2016, 8:55 pm

I’ve TAUGHT the Bill of Rights.
They’re the first 10 AMENDMENTS to the Constitution.
The first 10 CHANGES to the Constitution.
They weren’t the LAST 10 changes to the Constitution, either.
Slavery isn’t discussed in the Bill of Rights, knucklehead, but if 100% of Americans were for slavery, then I’d leave. Politically, they’d have it. Morally they’d be wrong and I’d have no part in it.
Why would you say something as ridiculous as this?
        The Constitution CAN be changed.
If you don’t think you can change something called an Amendment, then what you really need is a Thesaurus, not a Constitution.

    • Alan July 15, 2016, 11:44 am

Actually, your claim to “public opinion” being against us is deeply flawed.
It depends on who’s conducting the poll, and how it’s worded.
And YOU fell for the one stating that “public opinion” is against us.
So, where did you see these polls?
I’ve seen polls claiming Americans DON’T think that way.
Your post is in fact, simply your one sided opinion, based on information from a one sided source.

      • Lamar July 17, 2016, 8:56 pm

88-90% of Americans polled think the gun laws should be changed to keep people on the terror watch list from being able to purchase guns.
I’ll flip it on you, then, why do you WANT Islamic terrorists to be able to get guns in America?

  • Christian July 12, 2016, 1:59 pm

Hi guys, as I’m mostly not following news because I’m tired of the “lying press” as we call it in my country, I am sad to see on this website that five of your police officers have been killed by some racist nutjob in a cowardly act of horrible violence. I wish that the horrible spree of violence in your nation as well as around the world would finally stop. Can’t we all just live together in peace? Humans kill humans because of a different skin color, yet we are all humans…. It keeps me speechless when I just think about it.

Anyway, I don’t want to write a comment written with nothing more than sorrow and words of condolence. What I will write now is, as always, my personal opinion from just a random guy at the other side of the Atlantic. So here I go:

I do believe that president Obama is at least right in saying that it is of course far away from easy if there is suddenly a shooter out there and many of the peaceful civilians do carry guns as well. Suddenly everyone could be a threat (keyword: Stockholm syndrome) or not and I personally don’t want to be inside of a police officer in such a situation.

But I do not follow president Obama by stating that it is in fact the open carry law that is responsible for this shooting. As I only have my info from this blog entry there were 20-30 other individuals armed. And because of one racist that started shooting at white police officers the president blames the open carry completely? There were 20-30 other people with open carry that haven’t done anything. And again, by following this blog, more and more I see the same statements from American politicians coming up every week, stating because of one bad person with a gun all the other people with guns are dangerous or bad as well. And I do also repeat myself in telling you that in my country one kid goes on a spree, police founds violent video games on his computer and suddenly all people that play video games in Germany are under the microscope again, mostly of course by our lying press Goebbels couldn’t been more proud of. So in my eyes our media and our politicians are not very different from each other.

Now let’s take a look at another statement of president Obama: “Part of what’s creating tensions between communities and the police is the fact that police have a really difficult time in communities where they know guns are everywhere,”

This is in fact against many other blog entries that I have read on gunsamerica, where many police officers have been reported to more likely patrolling those areas where people can legally have guns because the crime rate in these parts is lower than in cities with “weapon free zones” where gang crimes and crimes in general are exceptionally high. In Germany we say “These politicians live in an ivory tower”. It is a saying that states the politicians are already living far away from reality and in fact do not know what is going on at the streets anymore, as they are always surrounded by their guards, servants and whatever else they have. But WE, the people, we don’t have these kind of things. We only have ourselves and we have to live in the reality these politicians have created. And this is the thing that I personally see as the most dangerous one a politician can do: Living away from reality and therefore cannot see the outcome of his/her own actions. Or better, creating it all and then leaving politics and us all alone with the mess to live in, while they have enough money for the rest of their lives to live in safety and far away from all these problems.

About the mentioned incident in Minnesota I have just heard from my father so far, when he visited me last Saturday. He told me that he saw a video where the man has been tied down at the ground and police just shot at him, although he couldn’t even move. Maybe it was another incident and not the one in Minnesota but anyway, to blame the person that has been shot, although, from what I could read from this blog so far, it seems he did not tried to use the gun or even touched it, is a wrong move and I do believe that president Obama is just saying things like this to support his anti-gun views. And this is, in my personal opinion, disgusting, using the death of a person, which could also have been you or me, to support your own political agenda. Reminds me of Columbine by the way as, from what I remember, ex-president Clinton was also using this horrible massacre for the same agenda Mr. Obama is supporting. It looks like times never really change.

Again, using incidents like this to support your own agenda is disgusting to me but I do accept that Mr. Obama also has the 1st amendment on his side, so he can say his thoughts about such a thing. But there is of course a problem. At first he is the president and although his words surely won’t mean much for the most visitors of this website, his words mean much to his followers, therefore to the people that in November will have the ability to vote again and then surely would vote for Hillary. And this is what makes these words of Mr. Obama dangerous to the American future because with those words he also tries again to infringe the 2nd amendment verbally. But as a president he should know that he has to defend the constitution of the USA and not trying to change or destroy it, although I know many of you guys are saying that he in fact wants to do exactly that and I am also sometimes thinking this way.

Anyway, although my wish is surely going against what the future will be, I hope one day this nightmare with all the shootings and the hunt for your rights will finally end for you. Take care of keeping your rights together and do not allow yourself to turn into a dictatorship with a democratic masquerade, like so many European countries as mine have always been and always will be as we don’t have any right to carry a real gun (or they are so harsh that it’s quite impossible to get one). That is why your ancestors took the risk of travelling across the Atlantic and to bear all the hard work and dangers hundreds of years ago. To live in freedom and far away from dictatorship. Take care!

    • len July 15, 2016, 6:40 am

Obama’s delusion and fantasy likely leads him to believe gun laws were responsible for the killing of 80 people in NICE FRANCE. The moron along with Clinton are responsible for ISIL.

      • Christian July 15, 2016, 8:59 am

No len, I do more await from your president that, after the newest massacre in France, he now wants to ban all the trucks in your country because this is, as I wrote already, the logic they are following with guns, so why not keep following it with other things as well? I wouldn’t be surprised if he or any other of your politicians would now propose such a thing. Politicians get more and more crazy with every year. Not just in America but also in Europe. Our world is in serious trouble.

      Christian,
You sir, are smarter than most Americans or I should say liberals. It shows me that you understand our country and I just wanted to let you know that you are right on. There will never be any stop to all violence until Christ returns. I am a Pastor from the mountains of East Tennessee USA and again sir I want to commend you on your political understanding of most of the world as we now know it or really has been for many many many years. God bless you sir in the name of Jesus and even if you are not religious sir you are very sharp in your understanding of politics and human nature. Thanks again for your comments. Dr. Dewayne Chappell

      • Christian July 15, 2016, 2:25 pm

Hello Dr. Chappell! At first I want to thank you very much for your blessings! Yes, you can call me religious as I do seriously believe in God but I have to admit that I’m not part of any religious German community as they are too close to the German government and seem to be not as you, seeing the truth about it all and rightfully use your freedom of speech to say this out loud. People like you are what we miss in Germany and the other European countries. Thanks to you I now finally see that there are still good believers out there as I haven’t found them in my country. I am just a “free believer” as I call myself.

Anyway, back to topic I just decided to take a part into the discussions here because I do really like the friendly community and I try to use my humble English skills as best as I can. President Obama also did catch me in 2008 with his “Yes, we can!” chants because I thought he really would be good for your country. But thanks to the blog entries here and the fact that the overall situation doesn’t get better I see now that it was all just a phrase. I thought your country is different than mine but even your politicians aren’t really. They are against their own people like they are here. Anyway, I stay on my toes and stay politically incorrect but always in a friendly manner. I do believe this is the best way. In Germany you just say one wrong word and they already want to lock you up. So, I like to keep in touch with the American situation via this website and I’m proud that you like it. It keeps me joining in some of the discussions here.

May the Lord be with you and everybody else here and I wish you the most luck ever for the coming votes in November! Fight like Judas the Maccabee that is all I can say about this. Thank you again!

  • Tom Horn July 12, 2016, 12:36 pm

Yeah, leave it to Obama, to blame the recent terrorist attacks on the evil, law-abiding gun owners. Disgusting, but, 75% of Americans seem to be unable to see through this facade.

    • Tom Horn July 12, 2016, 1:07 pm

      P.S.
      “…is because this is an open-carry state…”
I suppose the record homicide rate in the President’s hometown of, Chicago (with some of the most restrictive firearms laws in the USA), is because of open carry laws in Texas?

      • SuperG July 13, 2016, 11:19 am

Now you understand. You merely need to apply delusion and fantasy to know what the cause was. It wasn’t a psychotic racist that finally blew a gasket, it was the law that allows people in public to protect themselves.

        • CharlieKing1 July 15, 2016, 10:00 am

Correct! O is always projecting and deflecting. He will never answer truthfully and looks for a scapegoat. For right now, I guess my home state of Texas is his current whipping boy. I would like to correct him though, he and the press are confusing (purposefully) the term open carry. Open Carry refers to the ‘open carry’ of a handgun; not a long gun. We have been able to carry long guns in public since the state was conceived.

Now the question that should be asked is how do peaceful protesters carry long-guns in a lawfully permitted march or protest? What should the law enforcement response be? As a retired 30+ year LEO, I am in support of peaceful protestors being able to carry their long-guns. The burden is on the state on how to deal with it without violating a Constitutional right. The police want a quick and easy fix and disallow the carrying of firearms, but I don’t think that’s the answer, and it’s not going to stop these type shootings. Think back to a different time in Austin, TX, on August 1, 1966. Basically, the same thing happened there that happened in Dallas. One thing that differs though is private citizens armed themselves with long guns and started shooting back at Charles Whitman. I have my opinions on how it could have been better handled, but I wasn’t in Dallas, so I’ll keep my opinions to myself.

        He is predictable.

      • Miles July 15, 2016, 5:16 am

Yea the guy shooting might be the one with the gun pointed at you or others not the one slung on a shoulder

      • Jadwinjim July 15, 2016, 5:59 am

Mind you all Obama’s blathering about gun control coming from a guy who could not get a top secret security clearance for a janitor position within the federal government based on all the problems with his communist father, his bogus birth certificate, his bogus attendance at Columbia, his associations with radical organizations, his lies about citizenship, and the list goes on, but he can be President because this is HOPE & CHANGE. Unfortunately what he delivered was the same old shit raised to the power of 10. Because of him our education system is now 26th instead of number 1. The amount of our national debt, will never come close to being paid for the next 100 generations. And with his and Bush the banks and wall street runs the government. Thank you Mr, President. This is all the Hope & Change anyone would consider for a freaking life time, you ponce.
