Anti-gunners have stopped pretending to feel bad about politicizing tragedy.

Former President Barak Obama joined dozens of his fellow gun grabbers yesterday afternoon to galvanize his base of supporters around renewed calls to “reduce the weaponry in our midst.”

“May God also grant all of us the wisdom to ask what concrete steps we can take to reduce the violence and weaponry in our midst,” he tweeted at 4:51 pm, less than six hours after the gunman opened fire.

He wasn’t alone. The cacophony of gun control advocates has crescendoed on social media to promote a pet policy, attack the NRA, or condemn gun owners.

“Can you sleep tonight, colleagues, when the price of gun lobby goodwill is this — blood soaked church and school floors, city streets,” said U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., who introduced a universal background check bill last month.

Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., turned his attention to the NRA and included a not-so-subtle plug for the 2018 midterm elections. “Screw the @NRA & can you help Dems take back the House,” he tweeted.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., took a similar tack.

“How many more people must die at churches or concerts or schools before we stop letting the @NRA control this country’s gun policies?” she tweeted.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., called on Congress to use their legislative authority to ensure that nothing bad ever happens again.

“We have a solemn obligation to the victims of Sutherland Springs, Las Vegas, Orlando, Newtown and the many tragic shootings that occur each day to respond not only with prayer and unwavering love, but with action,” she said. “Much more needs to be done in the Congress to ensure that no other family is forced to endure such an unimaginable tragedy.”

The anti-gun organizations echoed their brethren in Congress, complaining that legislators have failed to use their power to prevent mass-casualty events.

“It is time for every single American to get off the sidelines and demand our lawmakers reject the NRA, which has far too much influence over our gun laws,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, in a statement.

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence followed suit.

“After every horrific event, thoughts and prayers are offered, but action is not,” the org complained in a statement. “Now is the time for citizens to stand up, hold our elected officials accountable and demand changes to ensure dangerous people do not have ready access to guns.”

Amidst all the virtue-signaling, however, Pelosi and her ilk conveniently fail to mention the hero who shot the shooter and forced him to leave the premises. They also haven’t mentioned that the shooter sought and failed to obtain a concealed carry permit, yet he carried a firearm onto church premises anyway.

When you’re trying to win a midterm election, it seems, only those facts that help your narrative are worth including in a tweet.

The leftists are always looking for a way to disarm the general public. It should be no surprise that Obama would vent his anger at a patriot who stood and took decisive action against a shitbag, The leftist in him hates the fact that an individual would be able to defend the lives of others. The leftist in him believes that government should be responsible for defense of the masses. Even though 100s may die as a result. We must never allow the leftists to take the action of individual away from us, and replace it with government intervention. As an American we must always remember we are only one generation away from losing our freedom. With the second amendment protecting the first.

  • Paul Christensen July 5, 2019, 7:00 am

They do not believe in laws. They only believe in laws that let them control people and use an excuse of safety as their ploy. If they wanted to protect people’s live they would do something about abortion. It not a law that lets the be free with their bodies but a law that lets them kill babies legally.

  • Paul Christensen July 5, 2019, 6:58 am

And some people want to let these people control their lives. What part of stupid are they?

  • Pete November 16, 2017, 9:05 pm

A typical knee-jerk reaction from an ignorant liberal who spends all his time trying to take guns away from law-abiding citizens instead of trying to solve the real problem which is liberals letting people who commit crimes with guns off with light sentences so as not to ruin their futures which they’ve already ruined by committing gun crimes in the first place. This is the same incompetent man who as president for 8 years never was smart enough to realize you can’t continue to spend money you don’t have and did everything in his power to ruin this great country. He is the one who should be in jail.

  • Randy Overly November 14, 2017, 10:28 pm

So who does this guy think he is? He’s a has been, A never was, A nobody, A total failure, A person with no respect and a long long history of incompetence and lying!

Couldn’t accomplish anything of value and tried with all he had to destroy our democracy and should be rotting in Gitmo!

I remember a photo that appeared in the newspapers when Barrack Hussein was the president. It was a photo of Barrack Hussein, Joe Biden, and Hillary Clinton crossing some street in DC on their way back from lunch, laughing and joking. ALL THREE OF THEM IN THE SAME CROSSWALK, arm in arm as I recall. My first reaction when I saw that photo? Where in the world was a speeding Mack truck with no brakes when the world needed one? A missed opportunity.

  • Sepp W November 11, 2017, 12:55 pm

Guns don’t kill people, but people use guns to kill other people. Guns are not the problem, People are the problem.
The socialist liberals hate the Constitution, they abhor individual rights, and their ultimate goal is to disarm the American people. Plain and simple.
The “common sense” thing to do is enforce the current laws and ensure those that are prohibited from obtaining, owning, or possessing a firearm are in compliance with the law.

  • Mike H. November 10, 2017, 1:36 pm

Hillary,Feinstein and Obama should all get together and have a party. Clinton should have plenty of champaign left that she was going to use to celebrate her election victory. They can all get drunk and take a walk through the woods. If we get lucky they will all get lost or fall in a deep hole.

Who is this foreigner. I recall someone that resembles him from a long time ago. By what authority does he have to even comment on America’s business? Barry Sotero is the name I believe. Go away Barry!!!!!

  • Grant Stevens November 10, 2017, 1:24 pm

“Gun control?” An armed American citizen used perfect gun control to stop a cowardly POS before he could continue his murder spree. Instant justice. Time to prosecute Obama and Holder for their “Fast and Furious” gun-running to Mexican drug cartels. Their back-door attack on our Second Amendment back-fired and cost more innocent lives. Instead of shooting-off his mouth about “gun control,” Obama should be wearing an orange jumpsuit in a maximum-security federal prison where guns are completely controlled.

  • Pants Up Dont Loot! November 10, 2017, 12:09 pm

More people are killed with knives than guns.

  • Dan F. November 10, 2017, 11:24 am

Same shit, different day. A mass killing occurs. The answer, according to Obama, Pelosi and the “liberal/progressive” ilk is to pass stricter gun laws. What about enforcing the laws we have now? Only a complete repeal of the 2nd Amendment and seizure of every gun in private hands could decrease these mass killings. And that is a non-starter. Or maybe these idiots could introduce mega million dollar funding for a magic crystal ball. The ball could then tell us that on July 28, 2021 mild-mannered accountant Joe Blow will go bat-shit crazy and shoot up his local mall in Ames, Iowa. So, we should detain him now. Or they could pass legislation banning mass shootings, and that will solve the problem. Right. Meanwhile when your local blivet (a five pound sack stuffed with ten pounds of bullshit) comes up for election–vote for someone else.

Never was. . .at any point in all eight years.

  • Common Sense November 10, 2017, 9:30 am

Guns don’t kill people, people do. A gun is a tool. Yes, it has a longer range than some other choices (you could use a cell phone to explode a bomb further away than the range of a gun), but the vast majority of these scenarios are up close and personal (for a reason – the folks are nuts). You could make the argument that video games are more of a cause than the gun used, but that would involve looking at the real problem rather than twisting to an agenda. Someone who wants to kill will find a way (nobody ever talks about the guys who killed all the school children with swords in Japan about the same time as one of the school shootings – that school wasn’t any better prepared to protect the children than ours are in the USA). The guy in Texas could have just thrown a container of home made napalm… Not as personal for the nut job, but…. I would rather be shot…
All this being said, some things we gun owners do are just plain stupid when it comes to maintaining our rights and educating the ignorant. You had to know that it was just a matter of time until someone put a bump fire stock on an AR and all of this crap from idiots with no common sense would come crashing down. Do we really need something that turns a perfectly acceptable firearm (regardless of what the ignorant say) in to an automatic weapon (I’m not going to argue about definitions, so just save it!)? If you really want to own an automatic weapon (and use for the “right” reason in the “right” environment) , there is a process to legally do so (we can debate the process and the necessity another time). The process for owning automatic firearms probably should be fairly robust. If you can’t get one legally, you definitely shouldn’t have it or be trying to skirt the law (even if the loop hole that allows it hasn’t been closed yet).
Unfortunately in our society survival of the fittest has been mostly eliminated (we won’t even let folks drive cars without seat belts or motorcycles without helmets in most places). The ignorant (of all persuasions) don’t die off and silent majority have to suffer the consequences. We’ll even let them run for political office…

Obama has absolutely no room to talk about gun control when his home town is the gun crime capitol of the country. Go clean up your own back yard before you tell everyone else how to live.

Obama failed as a president !
      He failed as a leader!
      His laws failed!
      His ideas failed!
      His Heath care failed!
      The economy failed under him!
Does anyone else see a pattern here?

  • DC November 10, 2017, 7:16 am

Obama who lol he needs to retire and fade into the anti gun missy where he belongs and plz take these other anti American senators with u

  • Chuck Farmer November 10, 2017, 7:04 am

If added laws for controlling possession, purchase, or ownership of firearms is deemed needed, the source of the misuse should be addressed. Have any of these mass shooters been members of the NRA? I suspect the answer is NO. What might they have in common? Could it be a leftist/anti-American tendency? IMO, YES! A possible solution, limit possession of firearms to conservatives.

  • Douglas Jones November 10, 2017, 4:03 am

What President. He’s no President. He talks out his rear end
Did nothing in office to make our Country better, only made things worse. Now he wants to speak up. What a regard. Get a life Obama Bum.

  • Frank Romo November 10, 2017, 3:59 am

Why doesn’t he tell his butt buddy (Rham Emanuel) in Chicago to stop the violence there, I’m so glad this turd bucket is not in charge anymore. He FU our great country, now, we’re having the shit residual from his worthless tenure…

  • Blue Dog November 8, 2017, 10:03 am

I agree with President Obama in spirit but the timing feels off to me. While there is an immediacy for the need to “do something” so quickly in the aftermath of a tragedy like this, when our feeling of safety has been violated nationwide by a single home-grown disturbed individual but we should take a beat and let cooler heads prevail. We definitely need an overhaul of this nation’s outdated gun laws for regulating outdated guns but we need to do so from a rational moment when cooler heads prevail on both sides. How many such tragedies must feature AR-15s until legislators take notice? These AssaultRifle-15s (see what I did there?) are dangerous and even so-called prohibited possessors can get ahold of them. Who did he get the rifle from? Where is the accountability for that person that sold him the gun? Or the accountability for the system that failed 26 people tragically in just this single incident. That in and of itself is argument enough for reform of the way we handle guns in this country – this madman wifebeater acquired his rifle through the prescribed legal procedures even though he was a prohibited possessor.

    • CharlieKing1 November 9, 2017, 10:52 pm

Blue Dog, seriously? Overhaul what outdated gun laws? Can you be more specific? What is wrong with the AR-15? It’s nothing more than a semi-automatic firearm. Are they more dangerous than say my bolt action .308 rifle? I’d venture to say that my .308 is more lethal than the AR platform. Also, how or why do you want to hold the person who sold the gun to the killer responsible? Did he/she do something wrong or against the law? What about the Air Force who dropped the ball? Maybe we could start assigning blame there? What reforms do you propose or are you just joining the other voices expressing empty platitudes?

    • DC November 10, 2017, 7:11 am

Hey a$@hole troll u did this very thing on the banning of assualt weapons column how about u actually look up what the definition of assualt weapons actually is and kindly leave our great site because this is guns “America” not just guns for some and u even state on the other comment u made on the banning column that u supposedly have an AR what a hypocrite go away and troll on some anti American anti gun site u belong on

    • Ken November 10, 2017, 7:39 am

Yeah, I see exactly what you did there… like most, you’ve confused the letters “AR”, which in fact stand for “Armalite Rifle” (the original manufacturer) with the rather ambiguous and still incorrect term “Assault Rifle.” I happen to agree with you on the points of accountability for the entity responsible for the gunman’s ability to purchase the rifle, but the person who SOLD it to him isn’t the one at fault, as I understand it, but rather the court system which FAILED to report said scumbag AS a domestic violence offender. As to Obama, Feinstein, the Brady Campaign, and all the rest of the would-bes and has-beens in the gun control lobby, they can ALL GO take a FLYING COPULATION, preferably off a high place. 2A supporters MIGHT one day humor them enough to consider their points IF even one of them knew crap from coffee grounds ABOUT firearms and gave up the fear-mongering for rational, INFORMED debate over guns, but to a person, every time they speak ABOUT guns, they display just how ignorant of guns they are. If you’re going to make an intelligent case to someone about giving up firearms, at least educate yourself enough to carry on a conversation with them about it! If you’re intent is to represent yourself as an authority on a subject, BE ONE! Establish your credibility with the 2A groups, KNOW THE ISSUES, stop parroting what some other jack-wagon espouses and develop an original thought on the issue, and you’re likely to make a much more favorable impression rather than being tuned out immediately and labeled as ignorant about guns.

    • Shawn Shahan November 10, 2017, 8:20 am

I guess I have to agree. We need to ban the items used by these nut jobs. We need to ban Home Depot because of the New York killing of 8. As well as banning Dodge Challengers for Charlottesville. The people that committed these atrocities cannot be held responsible, it was not their fault so we need to blame President Trump and the NRA. #LeftLogic

  • Dr Motown November 7, 2017, 5:05 am

Where were their calls to ban assault trucks after the NYC mass murder? It’s easy to back those automatics up and “bump drive” them into crowds

  • Bryan Birch November 6, 2017, 10:38 pm

There is only one case in America where the violence was stopped during one of these stupid mass shootings, and that was in Salt Lake City, Utah, at a place called Trolley Square. A young thug, looking to to vent his frustrations and kill lots of innocents was stopped in the middle of his act of violence, because an off duty police officer heard the gunfire inside of the complex. He was there with his wife, and having dinner at a restaurant, and immediately told his wife to call in to 911, that he was going to be there to try and stop this person, and he took off to assist. He stopped and killed this predator. He saved countless lives by his act of valor.
The only way the violence will end is if these predators know that there are people who are armed and will shoot back to protect themselves and others. More gun laws are not going to stop criminals from getting firearms and ammunition. But people that have passed background checks, and been properly trained and have learned the skills to take on and defeat these predators is the only way violence will end. Maybe it’s time to repeat history, and arm the citizen again, and in the process end the violence.

    • Danny November 10, 2017, 8:38 am

Bryan, I agree with what you say with one exception. In my state of Ga and I think many others it is against the law to require me to be properly trained and skilled. Although I think it would help at least with accidental deaths if it was required which would then improve part of gun ownership image.

  • Dilligaf November 6, 2017, 9:24 pm

Typical anti-American libtarded tactics, they use a tragedy like this, before the bodies are even cold, to push their communist agenda on the American people

  • Just a guy November 6, 2017, 5:12 pm

The tyrants will never give up until your privately owned gun is legally required to be disassembled in two different locked safes with the ammunition locked in a third separate safe. Magazines over five rounds are banned from legal ownership and you are no longer able to legally own a handgun. If you own one of these legally owned firearms be prepared to accept random searches from police officers verifying your gun is locked up according to law.

What we have left of the Second Amendment is not up for negotiation. Only corrupt tyrants seek to outlaw self defense.

    • Just another guy November 7, 2017, 6:30 am

Yep, and I couldn’t agree more with that statement. Next, probably hammers and knives and folks are next.

    • MBZ November 10, 2017, 5:07 am

Will never get to that point, which it require all gun owners to turn in their guns and other prohibited items. About 20% will, the other 80% won’t. And there is the quandary, do the police go door to door to confiscate? Good luck getting volunteers to line up single file to breach doors at 2 am and die, there aren’t enough stupid police, and then what? You think there is lots of gun violence now, try confiscation, see how quickly city streets look like civil war battlefields.

      • Buck November 12, 2017, 12:07 am

The English thought about the same scenario and decided to have grandmothers in tennis shoes go door to door collecting all the registered weapons. It all went off without any difficulties. Governments only sacrifice their police when absolutely necessary.
