Palmetto State Armory has two new exciting products at this year’s SHOT show. First is their take on the AR-10 platform. Details are still a little vague on the exact configuration for the rifle at this time, but we know it’s in .308. The demonstration model at SHOT is a pretty straight-forward AR-style rifle. It has a flat-top upper with forward assist, adjustable stock and a free-floated hand guard over a 22-inch barrel. According to the company’s representative, the final model is not 100% set in stone. They will offer a complete rifle at first and expect to have them on the market by the end of this quarter. After the rifle is released, they plan to offer lower and upper kits with other calibers to follow.

They are also planning to release a 1911 or two this quarter as well. The two examples they have here at SHOT are very impressive. The fit and finish is superb. The parkerized pistol had a clean and crisp trigger that broke around three pounds. If the production models are as nice as these prototypes, they will be serious contenders on the market. The MSRPs are not yet set, but I was assured that they would be in line with Palmettos State’s usual business model: offer great products at a low price.

    NEW AT GUN BUILDING…
Does anyone know if AR parts are interchangeable between manufactures? my son wants an AR 15 so I have started for holidays and birthdays buying single components for him to start building it him self. the first part was a Ruger receiver then butt stock along with hand grips and rails. Then I found Palmetto State Armory… will there barrels fit a Ruger receiver? as well as trigger assemblies and other components?

Thank you in advance for any help / input.

PSA brought the retail price down on AR15 and AR10 Stripped lowers , complete lowers , parts , and Daily Sales on quality carbines , rifles and AR pistols to a reasonable price point with American made ARs . I have purchased several over the last 2 years for myself and ” schooling ” . Not a bad thing to say about this American Home Grown company ! Really bring ” your personal ,, custom carbine and rifle ,, to your home . Stand behind every PSA product with In House quality warranty and tech service . My Students beat them up on our outdoor rough terrain course . And actually better quality than the DPMS AR15 & AR10 , off the shelf , these are not our Fathers Gun Case Showoff’s but a real working guys Range, Truck , and Hunting ARs . Good Quality , Good Product for an American Working Guy

I have nothing but good to say about PSA. My last order stated that it would be take three weeks for delivery, I received it a week later. All other orders have been received within the time limit they said it will be. So far I am very pleased with this company and will continue to use them as I see them as value for the money and the waiting period isn’t that big a deal to me. If you need instant gratification a gun store is the way to go.

I order from psa 3 times in past year the first 2 times were ok just took 5 to 7 weeks to ship the 3rd time I ordered 4 d&h mags and a MOE stock kit 4 weeks later I get a Blackhawk stock build kit and now mags 7 weeks later is when I got the mags and I paid 130.00 for stock kit and they said that the Blackhawk was all they had to send at the time I asked to send it back for a refund to hear them say that they couldn’t do a refund because on my invoice it had Blackhawk stock kit it funny the Blackhawk kit was on sale at the time for 49.99 and I got stuck paying 130.00 for it psa is bad news and dirty

Not had that experience with them But I feel for you . Had similar things happen at different places . Want what we pay for ! Not a scam and shuffle slide of hand ! We work hard , squeeze out a few extra bucks and just want what we pay for . Working people just want a Fair Deal ! NOT another form of Obummer Care !

In the last 18 months, I’ve probably placed 7 or 8 orders with PSA. No more. Yes, they have some great deals on great product. But no, I can’t deal with their business model any more. Like someone else mentioned, they charge you at the onset of your order, but then don’t ship for 2, 3, 4, 6 weeks? And then only after trying to hunt down someone to talk to (or having to go to their apparent de facto customer support forum on AR15.com because…why? They couldn’t think to have their own customer support together enough to allow people to contact them, you know, from their OWN website? Sorry, the bargains aren’t worth it to me any longer. Sad too, because they do have some good deals, but plodding through the delivery execution and having to micromanage your own orders, horse pucky. Lots of other little companies have sprouted in the past two or three years that deliver far better service, as good or better product at a good price and make it easy to contact them.

PSA is the worst company ever. I ordered a complete upper and lower kit. They shipped the lower kit promptly 99.00 item, and charged my account for the full amount of 799.00. Over a month and no upper. I email them and they say it will be in within a few days. I contact them a few days later because on my invoice the upper is marked shipped. They now tell me they can’t supply me with the upper they charged me for. Instead they offer me a substitute upper supposedly a better and more expensive upper in there opinion. I am not happy and tell them i would take it if they give me a 10% discount on the upper price i paid since they need to satisfy a irate new customer that has half of a AR assembled from there parts. They said all they could do was refund the uppers price after holding my money for over a month or refund 17.00 dollars for the shipping and ship me there substitute upper that is inferior in my opinion.. So now i have a choice take a barrel i don’t want or get a refund on the upper and have a lower built i dont have a upper for or have a desire to use mismatched upper and lower suppliers . Needless to say i am fed up with this company. I should have pursued legal action if possible for false advertising or bait and switch practices. These people need to go the way of the Dodo. Do not buy from them no matter how good there price or product looks. They will bait and switch, they will charge your card before you receive all your product they will tell you 14 days for the build from them and go untold amount of time ,not notify your under can’t be filled and then offer bait and switch. They will just sit on your money till you complain and you won’t be happy the way that goes. AVOID PALMETTO STATE ARMORY, NOT A GOOD OR REPUTABLE COMPANY . Order placed on 4/17/14 had to contact them on 6/2/14 to find out what was happening with my order and now told 14 days or less to receive what i didn’t originally order (bait and switch). Still to be seen if they can even deliver what there now pushing . As i said avoid PSA at all cost. There may be more to the story. Least i hope for now is that its not a piece of bait and switch junk if it ever arrives. Be forewarned if choose to chance this shifty company.

I’ve made numerous purchases with PSA and never had any negative issues. It really suprises me that some people have problems with their shipping/customer service.

  • Yknot January 31, 2014, 10:33 am

The comment about the girls is just plain stupid…..Yell, put a pretty face on a turd and it will sell to stupid. I think most Real firearms enthusiast are way over the advertising hype. I could care less about who is pushing the gun, if it’s some model or other idiot that has never shot a firearm or worst yet, will take the pay check and then go on line and bash Guns and the owners, then I say do away with all posers and show only the gun, or the gun and someone that knows how to use it, and has in the past. All other hype is none important….

I think Customer Support and all that goes along with it like Shipping, giving you a tracking number and a reasonable delivery date and very important. If this doesn’t matter, then what does? Any fool can take your money…It’s what they give you in return that matters. Today there are more players in the arms business then at any other time in history. let’s face it, Firearms and Ammunition are big money, huge money. I say the more the merrier, but with that, I expect to be treated like a paying customer should, and customer service, Accessories and warranty service are all a huge part of a sale. If you want to throw your hat in the ring and call yourself a arms dealer, then be one. I expect the low hanging fruit will consume itself and be out of the picture in a few years. It’s up to you who gets your money.

A Men brother . Not had any personal issues with PSA , products S/H , ..but at the end of the day , think most of ” us gun guys ” should expect and receive a Fair Deal . Period . Colt excluded the Commercial Buyer … Priced most of us out of the AR market , catered to the Military , restricted parts , then came the Colt ” contract rifle / serial #’s start with crxxxxx . To try to stay afloat . Too many really good American Mom ‘n Pop AR shops on the net . A2 brick and mortar shops want MSRP , walk in customers . Entrance customers . Truth is , guessing that most A2 guys know what we want , scrap together a few bucks after Obummer Admin has taxed most of us at 45 to 50% of our income then raped by obummer health care , I just want a Fair Deal at a Fair Price and at least pretend to care that I spent my hard earned money with you !

I’ve had 3 problems with palmetto in just about a year. 2 were someone else’s order that was sent to me and did not get my order. Called and was told I had to send back at my expense and when they received it, they would send my order. What!!! The last bad order was for a marpat backpack that arrived without shoulder straps, cover or hip belt. This is called a bag, not a backpack. Called and was told that is how they are sold now.

  • Ben Moser January 17, 2014, 8:37 pm

Look folks, they need to make sure that inventory meets demand. They need to use UPS, FED EX and any way to track shipments. They need to have a comptent staff, from order pulling to final shipment !

  • Walt January 16, 2014, 6:33 pm

They have been swamped with orders, mentioned above, they can run out in minutes on sale items.
However they are a very honest company. You will get what you ordered, albeit you must be patient, they state the time delay specifically in days in the order form and you must acknowledge before proceeding.
Not many offer FN CHF barrels in some of their kits, as FN(U.S.A.) is close to them.
    Ammo ships real quick.
    Good American Folks.

    • Thunder December 15, 2017, 9:51 am

I like to read other gun guys comments on products . American made Quality SHOULD be expected , period ! FN makes a fine product , most Deals on the Net are Imported , ( code for Chinese well it’s close to the specs ) this isn’t horse shoes ! These X Mas Cheap , very cheap , Specials have to be imports .. think ..bought it for This Much and they still made money ??
Just bought an Ambi side charge upper from Primary Arms ” Xmas special ” bcg hangs out rear 1/16″ … Probably sold hundreds of them.. BUT they will NEVER WORK ..PSA may have some Ad or S/H or inventory problems BUT AT LEAST ALL THE PARTS FIT ! Specs are consistent mil spec .. all we want and should expect is a Fair Deal on a working American Made Product… Right ?

  • Ringo Lapua January 16, 2014, 4:40 pm

Don’t know much about their customer service, however the girls in the above photos are real nice to look at.

  • Ringo Lapua January 16, 2014, 4:38 pm

Don’t know about the customer service, but the girls in the photos above don’t look too bad.

  • Rusty Shackleford January 16, 2014, 12:11 am

@Stephen, you might want to look at their sub forum on AR15.com then. I’m far from the only person that’s had issues with them. Add in the PTAC junk they sell now and I’m pretty disappointed with them. Low prices are great as long as you receive what you order.

    • Thunder December 15, 2017, 10:06 am

Absolutely Right! @rusty .. the comments section on products gives a great cross section of experiences with products and warranties . Figure it like this , If a guy takes the time to read and post either positive or negative experiences ,,,, I should take the time to read , discover business , product , customer service . Most Gun Guys will tell you straight . *@ web/ primary arms/ ambi side charge upper receiver , X Mas Special .. HA ! bcg hangs out rear of upper @1/16 of an inch ..THIS upper Will NEVER WORK .. not even close to any MilSpec Quality Control .. Working Guys just want a Fair Deal at a Fair Price .. WE have been rapped over the past 8 years to the tune of 50% + on our hard earned money ! Bent over again God forbid you or family might get seriously sick .. Fair Deal at Fair Price ..should be EXPECTED & RECEIVED .. A2 guys are mostly good honest family oriented men and stick together on Main Common Issues ..I an Thankful for group comments sections ..

  • Daren January 15, 2014, 9:48 pm

I recently made a purchase of magazines, bolts and ammunition. GREAT price , fast shipment with no issues at all. I do wish they had more stock of items when they go on sale, out of stock in minutes it seems.

  • D.T. January 15, 2014, 8:31 pm

I do like the looks of the 1911 and the young ladies are pretty too!-:)

  • D.T. January 15, 2014, 8:27 pm

Haha. Before I posted, I noticed the comments about bad customer service. It used to be bad. Now it’s non-existent! I’ve bought quite a lot from them over the last year. Good prices. Pretty good stuff. The last order, they sent the wrong AR mags. Can’t get them on the phone. Will not reply to emails. Don’t know how much longer they can operate that way? Just hope I don’t have a warranty issue. -:)

  • Stephen January 15, 2014, 4:32 pm

@Rusty: I’ve had one issue with shipping after 5 or 6 orders and I can’t even be sure it wasn’t an FFL issue. Anyway with my limited experience, I don’t think they have a systemic problem with their shipping.

From the pictures, it doesn’t look like it will happen up front but I’d really like to see an Ultra-sized (3″) 1911.

    • Jeff January 16, 2014, 7:40 pm

I always have problems with their shipping. I’ve never had a reason to contact them for customer support but I live only a hour and a half from Columbia and it takes 2-3 weeks for everything I order. Very poor shipping! I will say I continue to order from them when they have good deals but the shipping could use some help.

  • Trevor January 15, 2014, 1:02 pm

Release the 1911’s in multiple calibers including 10mm and I’ll definitely pick one up!

  • Rusty Shackleford January 15, 2014, 11:51 am

Maybe they should work on fixing their crappy customer service and shipping first.
