2015 brings the launch of the first pistol made in the USA that bears the CZ name. The CZ 1911 A1 is an homage to the past, a 5” government sized model built as a modern incarnation of the original 1911 A1.
That original was adopted into US service in 1924, ‘improving’ on John Moses Browning’s original design. Our version makes several small ‘improvements’ as well, swapping the checkered plastic grips for checkered walnut, adding serrated slide stop, magazine catch and mainspring housing and using a stainless steel barrel. For the sake of the shooter, we elected to forgo the lanyard loop, and added a taller set of sights that are easier to use, with the front dovetailed in so that it can be swapped more easily. Though there are a number of changes, we feel the CZ 1911 is still true enough to the original service pistol to wear the A1 name.
Built with much tighter slide-to-barrel and slide-to-frame tolerances than vintage models, the result is much improved accuracy without compromising reliability. Built without a trigger safety, the trigger itself is aluminum, with pull specified at 5 lbs., give or take a pound. Its forged carbon steel frame and slide are finished in a black oxide and it ships with two 7-round magazines.

I believe Dan Wesson 1911’s are made by CZ . Would someone please confirm this please.
It is the other way around. This pistol was made by the Dan Wesson Gunsmiths.

I h.ave a C Z 75 omega 9 M/M I like a lot. QUESTION Will this version take COLT or military parts ? The article doesn’t mention if the pistol has the slide safety ” series 80 ” need to know more.
While I don’t claim to know if it would work, or what the difference would have been, I’d have liked to see CZ develop a 1911 with the frame/slide position reversed like the CZ75. With the slide inside the frame of the 1911, would accuracy have similary improved? That’s the question I’d have liked them to have answered.
Lovely. Acceptable price, assuming that the street price will be about $100 less. I have a M1911A1 on my wish list, but I’d settle for one of these. Sadly, it probably will not be offered for sale in California until the microstamping nonsense is (hopefully) eliminated.

$208 for the CA sales tax!? That’s roughly 54%. F-U, Commifornia! That kind of taxation should’t be allowed at all. Just one more reason this guy will never be caught dead or alive in that awful place. I’m confident I only have 2 guns that would be allowed there.
It is now January 4th 2016. Tomorrow his excellency will meet with Atty General to decide how to further encumber honest law abiding gun owners and honest law abiding gun dealers. CNN as usual is in the tank for more “common sense” gun control, and Anderson Cooper will have a special on Thursday 7th with his excellency to inform the low information general public on how more regulation and paperwork for FFL holders as well as individual sales will make a dent in crime. God help us.
