Shot Show is full of surprises. Some of them are actually meant to be surprising. Take this duck blind, for example. No more hunkering in the mud for me. From now on I’ll be kicked back in my easy chair, waiting for the ducks.
The concept is simple enough. It is a chair–something like a lawn chair from the 1980s–only very well built and comfortable. This chair has a camo drape around it that surrounds the chair on all sides. In order to keep the shadows at bay, this drape can be easily staked to the ground with big aluminum stakes (which have plastic T handles). The stakes fit through grommets.
Once staked in, you fold the doors over you and your gun. The contraption has slits so your hands can reach strings or dogs outside (though there’s actually room for a dog inside, too). The doors run the whole length of the chair, which allows for more than enough room for guns. You sit comfortably beneath the doors, with the mesh face hole open to the elements above.
When the ducks fly over, you pop up and shoot. That simple.
Alps Outdoorz makes a bunch of waterfowl and hunting accessories. This blind has a one year warranty. You can pack it on your back (it only weighs 23 pounds). The camo pattern (Max 5) matches the rest of the gear from Alps, and all of the waterfowl gear is associated with the conservation and habitat development projects of Delta Waterfowl, too–so proceeds from sales help keep ducks in the air.
