MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow blasted Sen. Ted Cruz for getting his firearm facts wrong when he starred in a video titled, “Making Machine-Gun Bacon with Ted Cruz.”
Clearly Cruz was using a semiautomatic rifle when he cooked up his porcine breakfast meat, not a full automatic weapon.
Cruz addressed the faux pas in a tweet:

I’m almost afraid to comment here because of all the trolls. Good Grief people, it’s a belt fed machine gun. Impugning Ted Cruz’s politics is not the point here unless you’re a troll. The point was the inaccuracy of Rachel Madow in her reporting. I’m wondering if she even knows the difference between an automatic aka machine gun and a semi automatic aka an autoloader. A machine gun may or may not have selective fire but nothing stops you from pulling and releasing the trigger to get single rounds fired.
But wait … aren’t AR-15s supposed to be the dreaded “Assault Rifles”? Spraying bullets with the pistol grip? Now a Progressive/Liberal says .. it’s only a “semi-automatic” and you gotta pull the trigger for each shot …. now I’m really, really confused, ya know? Like everything they do/say they have to have it both ways.

I wonder if most of the above comments are by non-veterans; personally, I’m getting sick & tired of ANY news folks (OK, most of ’em) who continually refer to semiautomatic firearms as automatic. And as far as auto weps firing in semi or single shot mode, REALLY??? No shit, Sherlocks??? That wasn’t the point, you collective numbnuts. No one on Earth can fire a semiauto wep anywhere as fast as full auto, and as far as Mr. “bump stock”, that device won’t add full auto to a wep, forget about that right now; say G’bye to any semblance of accuracy, too. If you want a fully automatic firearm be prepared to pay a $1,000.00 bond, be THOUROUGHLY background-checked, & required to get a safe and a logbook. I’ve always been one to believe that if you are going to call someone else stupid for their point(s) of view, be damn sure to proofread your own comments for accuracy. It’s ONLY $200 for a Class 3 permit (NOT $1000) and not even the Mini-Gun fires at 850 times a SECOND……
His point is very accurate despite the 850 times in a second claim, if you bring a bump-fire stock to the range you will be escorted off the property, at least with the Sportsman’s Club I belong to. Also the list of restrictions placed on fully automatic firearms is extensive. We don’t need to start regulating or even considering semi-automatic only firearms as fully-automatic weapons. Our lovely State government here in NY State did just that and now we are up to our necks in restrictions. Sometimes with the anti-NRA articles posted on this website and the comments which do *nothing* but breed in-fighting among firearms advocates, I almost start to think the site is being run by gun control advocates. The only thing I can agree with is that maybe the NRA should have thought a little more about supporting Trump as their #1 candidate considering the guy is a monster and not the best poster child for gun safety.

A gun doesn’t have to shoot more than one shot with each pull of the trigger. Any auto loading firearm is considered a “machine gun” in my books. Rachel Maddow, you just debunked your own Debunktion Junction.

Rachel you are an idiot, and like most libs, the more you act like you know what you are talking about when you talk about guns, the more stupid you show your self to be. First of all, a machine gun does have a selector switch to shoot in either semi or full auto mode. So the sound that you claim a machine gun would make could also be the sound of the slower semi auto, one shot for one trigger pull. There is also the possibility of using a bump stock that would replicate auto fire on a strictly semi auto rifle but I’ll stop there since your little liberal mind may collapse with this much added information. And by the way, a semi auto rifle barrel can very well become hot enough to cook bacon, but then not knowing anything about guns, you wouldn’t know that either. Finally you idiot, it is obvious to me that no one cooks bacon on his rifle barrel, and that this video was all tongue in cheek. But as with most liberals, your’e too stupid to know the difference.

the M249 SAW does NOT have a semi-auto position. An M-16 rifle does have a semi-auto position. Please research your topic to have correct information in your comments.
