Custom gun maker the Precision Syndicate is getting a lot of praise and taking some heat for their stylish Nintendo Zapper-themed Glock pistol. The Zapper, the most iconic light gun in living memory, was the game controller for Nintendo’s popular video game “Duck Hunt.”

“We were waiting for someone to let us do this,” said the Syndicate on their Facebook page. “We weren’t the first to do it but wow, this Glock turned out good!”

The gun is finished with a classic red, grey and light grey Nintendo color scheme, with a lightened slide and fluted barrel. Critics of the gun  slammed the Precision Syndicate for modelling their work on a toy, leading the custom shop to post a follow-up to their announcement.

“In light of the ‘Nintendo Glock’ drama, we feel that the media and our fans need to know that this firearm will not be mass-produced nor will it ever be. This is a one-off custom build for a friend of ours,” explained the Syndicate. “[Due to] the thousands of emails and messages we have received in the past two days we have been unable to contact everyone in a timely manner; please be patient we will get to you as soon as possible. Thank you all for your support! Oh, and please…keep your guns locked up and away from children, it’s common sense.”

It would be hard to mistake the Syndicate’s homage to the Zapper as a video game accessory, and even harder to imagine any kid looking to play a round of “Duck Hunt,” now that the game is a few decades out of style. Apart from the color scheme the two look pretty different; one has a cord running out of it, and the other is a Glock.

Realistically this is a nice piece of custom work, including the lightening cuts and slide work, and crisp lettering in bright red. If someone wants to genuinely take the fire to the Precision Syndicate, it will be for re-using those terrible basic sights.

Make me one issued a Ruger Mark III! That’ll put the realism into it!

I love this idea, and all the nay sayers need just read another article. Stop bashing things because you’re anonymous. You wouldn’t dare tell the people of Precision Syndicate to their faces how terrible you think they are. Confrontation is scary….

  • Kip April 16, 2016, 5:45 pm

That is awesome! I love it. Super customization. Hello Nintendo? Are you listening? You’ve got a big winner here if you guys decide to manuf some real guns. What a great Xmas gift huh?

  • Pragmatist April 16, 2016, 2:35 pm

As pointed out, this glock actually looks nothing like the Nintendo Duck Hunt gun, it is only reminiscent of it. The browning buckmark actually looks far more like it–almost exactly like it–and no one is whining about that one: http://14544-presscdn-0-64.pagely.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Buck-Mark-Camper-UFX-MID-051482-l.jpg

This is a custom gun, and needs to be kept away from children as rigorously as any other working firearm, and handled in a safe manner like any other firearm. I’m sure its owner is prepared to do this.

Further, anyone who played that game shot at the dog when he laughed at you. Did we all grow up to become dog murderers?

So, in closing, people who can not tell the difference between a toy and a firearm should not handle firearms. People not prepared to treat every single firearm with respect, regardless of appearance, should not handle firearms. People not prepared to teach their children the difference between pretend and reality shouldn’t rely on a bubble-wrapped world to protect their children (and should probably not be parents).

Me to .We still have the “Duck Hunt” game and pistol, I always liked getting the one in the out house.Lots of fun for the whole family!!

I’m dead set against producing real guns that look like video game anythings. In fact, as I read down the article and finally realized the “Nintenda” connection, I blurted out, “No No No!” so loud my wife, upstairs, thought we had a situation.

  • KILGORETX April 15, 2016, 8:45 pm

Being kids from the 80s the first thing my wife and I said after seeing it was, “I want one !!!”. AND ALL U ANTI GUT NUTS STOP ALL YOUR PERSONAL CO2 PRODUCTION. THE WORLD WILL BE BETTER FOR IT..

The decal is the only “toy” implication. The rest is pretty common. Two tone guns are popular. The slide lock, slide release, mag release and pins can all be ordered in red or an assortment of other colors. I have them added to one of my guns for looks. Race guns are even more colorful, exotic and toy like.
Gun haters complain about the evil “black gun” and now they complain about decorating it to look less evil.
The complaints are really without merit and sound stupid.

  • bobtheaxolotl April 15, 2016, 2:29 pm

But the real question is, will it work on a modern flat screen TV?

    • Berq April 16, 2016, 7:02 am

Finally, a “zapper” that performs equally well on CRTs, projection TVs, and LCD screens! And it’s cordless! Now you’re playing with power.
On a side note, axolotls are the best. Well done, sir.

A gun made to look like a toy. It will no doubt cost some poor LEO/LEO’s their lives for that moment of hesitation and indecision, not wanting to shoot a perp with a “toy” gun. What were they thinking? They were only thinking about making a few bucks. I hope that they are one of the many manufacturers spending millions on trying to protect our 2nd Amendment rights because this gun alone will be the catalyst for legislation, certainly in California, and in many other states to ban them, change them etc., It just gives the anti-gunners more unnecessary fodder for their assault. I can already hear the rhetoric, ” We need to limit that sales of this semi-automatic weapon provided by an industry that seemingly doesn’t care or worse is so stupid that they can’t comprehend the extreme threat this creates for our children.” “How could they be so irresponsible to make such a weapon.” In less than 6 months there will be backlash guaranteed! Just so that you know, I am not suggesting that we not fight over our 2nd Amendment rights, just the contrary, we need to do all we can! However this is a battle that is totally unnecessary in today’s social and political climate.

I have always been pro gun and anti hippy. However one thing I will not stand for are real firearms that look like toys. Its already bad enough that toy manufacturers are making toy guns that look real. But now we’re making real guns that look like toys!?! Are you out of your damn minds!?! I have seen may competitive shooters customize their guns with all kinds of flashy colors, I have also heard the arguments on firearms manufacturers making colorful guns to try and reach the female market… If you are buying a gun because it’s pretty then you shouldn’t be buying a gun! Flashy colors belong on toys! Not real weapons! Camo and such coloring serves a purpose for combat or hunting. Orange, blue, pink, and other flashy colors do not! If we don’t stop this now the hippy bastards in our government will use it to take our rights away. So stop being part of the problem and be part of the solution.

  • vonrock April 15, 2016, 2:09 pm

I wonder what it weights, it may be a nice practice piece, maybe they could make it recoil too.

  • Ngb April 15, 2016, 1:30 pm

Why do people make toy guns look real ?Thats the real problem.
    Not the other way around..

  • Boludo April 15, 2016, 12:49 pm

Love it. Color scheme is awesome and if it weren’t for the nintendo name on the slide I would never think it was a toy gun. Not gunna cry about it either. I want one.

  • Man April 15, 2016, 11:37 am

What a bunch of sissies crying about it looking like a toy. I can’t believe people come on this site, read an article like this, then cry their little pansy heart out. Omg a kid might get ahold of it and shoot someone. Really? I guess if you have let the government raise your kid then they might be that stupid. A gun like that is a masterpiece and should be showcased to all of the thinking people left in this country. Unfortunately that is not too many people. It blows my mind how many grown men seem to need their diaper changed and get a new passy after seeing something like this. What a bunch of baby wimps. teach your kids gun respect, if you can’t do that then shut up because you don’t deserve to own a gun because of you stupidity level.

    • Mark Wynn April 15, 2016, 10:28 pm

Might take a nap, “Man,” as making up, over the top insult must be terribly exhausting for you. And what are you, about 15 years old?

  • JoshO April 15, 2016, 11:02 am

What an awful, awful idea. Like it or not, we all have to be mindful of the optics of what we’re doing as gun owners and manufacturers. Making a real weapon that looks like a children’s toy gives the anti-gun jerks too much ammunition. Dumb.

  • Dennis Fitzsimmons April 15, 2016, 10:13 am

I’m guess that they will get enough requests that this will no longer be a “one off” and, instead, will be the beginning of a trend. And then someone will use it in the commission of a crime because it looks like a toy. This is one instance where the manufacturer should be held responsible.

  • Rustyjack April 15, 2016, 10:13 am

Very bad idea to make real guns look like toys. Wait to see the uproar when a cop shoots a kid with actual Nintendo light gun.
    VERY POOR JUDGEMENT!

  • Izzy April 15, 2016, 9:26 am

Great design. sucks u got any back lash for it. like kids now a days even know what DUCK HUNT is. And as for making it look like a toy, and letting some kid play with it, and having to tell people to keep their weapons safe, just goes to show u how stupid people r now a days. That said I WANT 1 lol! wow can i use “lol” or do i have to spell it out to prove this is not a kid appreciate conversation!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mike_Hunt April 15, 2016, 8:34 am

    Stupidest idea ever

  • Henri R Helanto April 15, 2016, 6:56 am

Nice theme. I’ve been looking into powder coating and painting a Glock 17 into a “blue gun”, but training dummy implications it carries are a bit too obvious and can cause unexpected problems further down the road.

  • Darrell Norwood April 15, 2016, 6:26 am

This is sweet , this is a realistic gun to hold in your hand. New A’s games need a little reallness in playing games. To bring back the old days in front of the TV kid. Go Nintendo Fantasy Glock !!!

  • Pseudomind April 15, 2016, 5:43 am

Why do some gun manufactures and after market accessory makers insist on making guns look like toys and then cry when anti gunners get upset.

This is not much different then the cereal manufactures putting all of the junk cereal down low on the store isles for children to readily see.

  • James M. April 12, 2016, 1:00 pm

Awesome job! Definitely takes me back to the hours I spent playing Nintendo.
