RIP Gunny R. Lee Ermey

RIP Gunny R. Lee Ermey

Gunny likes his Glock 40 chambered in 10mm.  From SHOT Show 2015, Media Day at the Range.

I met “Gunny” R. Lee Ermey at SHOT Show several years ago (see interview below). What a great guy! I just remember him being incredibly pleasant to be around. Nothing like what you’d imagine a famous Hollywood actor to be like. Of course, he was much more than just a working thespian (with 120 credits to his name!).

Gunny was a Marine, a Vietnam veteran, a promotional personality for team Glock, a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and, as his longtime manager Bill Rogin said in a post on social media, “a family man, and a kind and gentle soul.”

With that in mind, GunsAmerica would like to extend our condolences to Gunny’s friends and loved ones.

“There are many Gunny’s, but this one was OURS. And, we will honor his memory with hope and kindness. Please support your men and women in uniform. That’s what he wanted most of all,” said Rogin.

“After 14 years of working together and many more years of friendship, we are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of our good friend, Gunny,” said Glock on Facebook. “He was an integral part of our family and he will be deeply missed. Semper Fi, Gunny.”

Gunny died suddenly of complications stemming from a bout with pneumonia. He was 74 years old.

I enjoyed his movies and the
“Gunny time” show. It’s a bummer he’s gone to the big house. I’ll miss him. He was one of the leaders in the “NRA” spoken word. I hope no one in the hospital he was in did something wrong to him. I’m sure that’s not the case.

We are very short of Patriots, Its hard to hear of one,s passing. I have seen him in all his parts in movies and I always think he was really there, not just and actor. A real American.

If you’ve never seen it, Google some of the “bloopers” from Gunny Ermey’s TV shows.

They show the Gunny’s lighter side that didn’t always come across in the shows that made it on the air.

Btw, Gunny Ermey was a Staff Sgt., not a Gunnery Sgt. when he was on active duty. After his acting career got going, the Marine Corps awarded him the honorary title of Gunny in recognition of his work. Bet that’s the only person ever given an honorary rank by the Corps!

“I want you to clean that toilet so clean the virgin mary would be proud to come down and take a dump in it”
That forbidden laugh helped me begin my separation from the intellectual slavery of religion many, many years ago.
Thanks, R Lee Ermey for your time and the rest of mine, not many men I admired more than you.
