This video starts with an overview of the features of the new LC9 pistol from Ruger. If you look back to our SHOT Show Sneak Peak post from a few days ago you’ll see that I actually got a chance to shoot this gun, and we also did a post when the gun was released a couple weeks ago.

The other big story from Ruger this year is this .308 Scout Rifle. It has a 16” barrel that comes with a threaded muzzle break and is suppressor ready. Ruger is really thinking their new products through these days and this gun is not exception. It has a front mounted rail for up-head optics, but it could also be used for a forward night vision in front of a regular optic mounted on the regular scope ring rail on the receiver. It is the Ruger Model 77 platform, so a more reliable rifle doesn’t exist, and this light and handy bolt gun comes with a 10 round magazine. This is a feature you don’t see in many bolt guns, and though a lot of bolt rifles make very effective sniper weapons, the three to five round capacity of the magazines make them not so practical for many uses, including a police duty rifle.

Will the trigger guard/ clip assembly fit a standard M77 308? If not, does anyone know where to find a floorplate conversion kit for a standard M77? the only companys I know of only make em for the Rem. 700

    I want it…except I need it in 300win mag.

Ugh. There’s one in every crowd.

“If I can’t get it in my niche pet caliber that serves no real purpose other than range bragging rights it’s crap.”

      Sheesh.

No wonder innovation is very, very difficult in the production of firearms.

THANKS GOA for these most informative video’s. They definitely help me make decisions about what firearms to look for on the open market. This scout .308 looks like a real winner and I saw it first on your video!

I really like the rifle, . . . but I think they could have picked up a much greater following with one simple change: fix it so it uses M14 magazines. Every M14 and M1A afficionado would then have at least “thought” about adding one to their collection. I would love to have a bolt .308, but I’ll balk at having to buy proprietor magazines (that will undoubtedly be over priced).

      plus +10000 on M1A mag compatibility….!!!

Does the rear iron sight need to be removed before a scope can be added?

    • Administrator January 23, 2011, 1:41 am

it mounts on the rail so yes, it comes off.

Will there be a left handed version of this rifle?

    • Bay January 26, 2011, 2:40 am

      Good gosh man.

Let the gun get off the S.H.O.T. Show floor before you ask for customization.

Will there be a version for those with myopia?????

It’s NOT muzzle “break”…it’s muzzle BRAKE. I can’t believe how many writers spell that incorrectly.
Neat rifle package by the way~!

Nice to see detachable mags coming on bolt rifles with more than a 3-4 round capacity. I just added one on my Rem 700 and am very happy with the addition from CDI inc.
This is a great looking rifle with nice additions all around.

Please tell me where you got the mags and floorplate to convert you Rem 700 rifle. I have a 35 year old Rem 700 Vamint Rifle in .243 cal. and have been looking for a conversion kit to change my rifle to a largre capacity removeable magazine scout type rifle. I know the barrel will seem to be to heavy but I think it will help the balance by keeping the wait forward. rcater6
