Impression

The American Made SIG Sauer P210 -- SHOT Show 2017

Shooting the P201 was an absolute joy.

Coming from a heritage of legendary accuracy, the P210 did not disappoint. I have been very clear how I generally feel about measuring pistol group sizes for accuracy, but I will make an exception for this pistol.

Picking the gun up, it is the closest to a combat/target pistol hybrid I have ever seen. The grip looks unorthodox, but it feels like it molds to your hand. I shot the six-inch model, though it is available in a five inch as well.

The targets at SIG range day were entirely too close for a pistol that shoots this well. By the end of my 10-round magazine, I was trying to shoot the bolt out holding the target to the stand at 20 meters, and succeeding far beyond what I should have for just having picked it up.

The trigger is one of the best pistol triggers I have ever fired, and that includes custom 1911-style race guns. It’s pretty hard to get me excited about a single stack 9mm that is too big to conceal, but this gun has done it. I can’t wait to take one of these out and shoot it at some long distance.

The 9mm is very smooth, but since we are talking about essentially a target pistol, any thoughts on this gun in 357 SIG? Now THAT would give this pistol some legs!

I’ll believe it when I see it. SIG said they were reintroducing the P210 here in the US at the last 2 SHOT shows but nothing is even on their website about it yet. When I called Sig USA a week ago I was told it’s coming but they haven’t even issued the gun a part number yet. I wouldn’t hold my breath for April or May of 2017 as advertised based upon the past history of this P210 remake. I hope it is at least close to the quality of the original Swiss/German P210 models. It took me nearly a year to recently import my X5 Black & White and SIG USA offered to warranty repair/replace parts that were pitted from moisture on this brand NIB gun. Once SIG got it from me they told me they couldn’t get parts from Germany for the X5’s anymore and because it wasn’t imported by Sig USA they charged me $110 to look it over and just send it back to me with no work being completed. Obviously I am/was a huge SIG fan but these days Im starting to wonder why…..

Why did the have to change it? Why couldn\’t they have made an exact duplicate of the original P-210?

The only SIG that the family owns is a P-238 my daughter purchased when she was out in Utah, before she knew any better.
The most expensive hand gun we own.
Not a bad one, just overpriced, like all SIG guns.

OK, I think I’ll buy 3 Glock 34 long slide 9mm’s for the price of one of these. I just don’t get the ridiculous prices that the “SIG” name will bring for something that probably cost them $200 to make at the most with modern CNC machinery doing all the grunt work. Make it affordable SIG! $1600 is NOT affordable. Half that would be, but just barely.

Too bad the interview was at the range. Couldn’t hear a doggone thing over the gunfire. I quit watching the video after 30 seconds.

I want one! I’d like to see a version with a more low profile/carry style (novak) rear adjustable sight. I get that the p210 isn’t really a carry gun but that huge “target style” rear sight keeps it from being a possibility all together for me. That being said, i love the p210!

    • Anthony Romano February 14, 2018, 8:18 am

That would be lik putting novaks on a model 41 or a Clark long slide. Its a military bullseye gun. Why does every pistol have to be a tacticool combat gun. Geeez!

    P210 is the BEST 9mm ! Colt Python in the BEST 357 ! S&W 41 22lr is the BEST 22lr !

According to YOU. I’d out shoot any SIG P210 with a Steyr GB any day of the week. AND do it with 20 rounds of ammo in a pistol that has a fixed polygon barrel with delayed gas blow back operation. I have a Colt 357 Python. Actually I have two. A 4″ and a factory tuned 6″ that I purchased new for $250 bucks. Yes, I’m THAT old. And granted it is ONE of the best except for the timing that takes a dump which S&W and Ruger don’t. And that bull barrel Ruger MK III can shoot right along side that S&W 41.
