Say hello to the SilencerCo Hybrid, rated 9mm through .45-70, FN 5.7x28mm through .338 Lapua Magnum. The Hybrid is both a centerfire pistol and rifle suppressor, that can be mounted on a huge range of firearms thanks to its modular mounting system, which can be used with boosters for handguns or quick-detach and direct-thread mounts for rifles.

The idea behind the Hybrid is to make one can that shooters can bounce from their pistols to their rifles–up to and including .338 Lapua Magnum–while only having to pay once for a single tax stamp.

Despite not being specialized the Hybrid performs well across the board, coming close to and sometimes beating some of SilencerCo’s purpose-built suppressors. Compared to the Octane .45 the Hybrid suppresses both 9mm Luger and .45 ACP better, and it beats both the 5.56 and 7.62 Sakers as well.

The trade-off is that the Hybrid is a beefy suppressor, weighing in at almost 14 ounces with a direct-thread adapter. Still, even though it’s a bigger can compared to other handgun suppressors, it’s actually pretty light compared to most rifle suppressors. Other critical specifications are that it’s 7.8 inches long and has a 1.56-inch outer diameter and has a grey Cerakote finish.

Part of the way the Hybrid manages to perform so well compared to other multi-caliber SilencerCo suppressors is by using interchangeable caliber-specific end caps. SilencerCo has four different end caps for 9mm, 5.56mm, 7.62mm and .46-caliber ammunition.

There are some limitations to the Hybrid. Although it’s full-auto rated SilencerCo puts a 16-inch barrel minimum for use with .45–70 and .458 SOCOM and an 18-inch minimum for all magnum rifle cartridges for safety.

The Hybrid will also work with ASR mounts for use with ASR muzzle brakes and flash hiders which come in a wide range of thread patterns including 1/2×28, 1/2×36, 9/16×24, 5/8×24 and more. The Hybrid works with Osprey/Octane pistons which are also easy to find.

Of course, all of these mounting systems and other Hybrid accessories will be sold separately, but the good news is that the base price for the suppressor is pretty reasonable at $999. Like with most products in the gun world, street prices are expected to be less and probably cover the cost of the tax stamp.

Another product launching for 2016 SilencerCo is the Omega 9K, which could not be more different than the Hybrid and still be a suppressor. It’s a monolithic welded design without an outer sleeve, similar to SIG’s new line of suppressors.

The Omega 9K is full-auto rated but only for two cartridges, 9mm Luger and 300 AAC Blackout. At just 4.7 inches long it’s one of the shortest pistol suppressors on the market, although it’s not a featherweight can at 8.8 ounces–and that’s with the direct-thread mount. Still it’s two ounces lighter than the Octane 9 and performs nearly as well–it cuts three inches and only adds three decibels.

The Omega 9K has a 1.475-inch outer diameter, a black oxide finish and runs $865.

Now that the ATF has removed the CLEO signatory requirement for all NFA-regulated transfers a lot more people will be buying suppressors this year, and these two are quite the pair: one do-all can that works well on any platform and a simple suppressor that focused on compact performance.

I HAVE A SAVAGE .17 HORNET RIFLE. WHAT WOULD IT COST FOR A SILINCER (NO LOUDER THAN A B B GUN) FOR THIS GUN. I ALSO HAVE A COLT DOUBLE EAGLE .45 FULL SIZE, HOW MUCH SOUND CAN U KILL ON IT? WAITING FOR ANSWER.

For only $12,568 you can get a silencer that will kill 100% of the noise from all firearms. As I understand it, once you have paid up they come out to your house with some heavy digging equipment and dig out a 20′ deep hole 10′ wide and as long as you want. After the hole is complete they line it all with insulating material and build a concrete cap with an old, double submarine hatch entry and a ladder to enter it. Seems pretty cheap to me so silence everything you can carry down there.
Are you going to buy it? I’m waiting for an answer.

        Great answer!
But he probably wanted something that weighed less than an ounce and was only two inches long and never needed cleaning…

A subsonic .17 Hornet? Isn’t that called a pellet rifle?
