Small Town in Tizzy over Gun Store Name

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Authors S.H. Blannelberry This Week

Some of the folks in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, are not happy with a new gun store that opened its doors on main street recently, reports CBS Minnesota.

Apparently, the members of the community are not upset about the fact that the business sells firearms but rather over the name of the gun store, “F-Bomb Ordnance,” which is prominently displayed in the windows.

“It really stands out in big block letters,” said St. Croix Falls Mayor Brian Blesi.

Blesi added that around 50 people showed up to complain about the signage last week.

“To me that phrase means only one thing, and I think that’s the majority sentiment here in the community,” Blesi said.

The city council is reviewing whether the name of the store violates the city’s nuisance ordinance.

“The question is, ‘Can that be displayed prominently on our main street?’ and so that’s the question really in front of the city council,” Blesi said.

However, the owners of F-Bomb Ordnance — all of who either served in the military or in law enforcement — said they did not mean to cause a stir.

“We’ve moved into a new building and that’s aroused the ire of some concerned citizens in town,” said co-owner Dr. Geoff Gorres, who explained they relocated from Amery, Wisconsin.

“We would just like to have our constitutional rights respected,” Gorres added. “We didn’t intend to cause a furor or offend anyone.”

I like it. Sounds better than My Pink Kitty Gun Shop to all you offended mental panty wearers.

  • Paul December 28, 2017, 7:59 am

While I do find the name funny, I don’t think I would have chose it. However, it is their business, and whatever they want to call it is their right.

  • Richard Couden July 24, 2015, 4:05 pm

They definitely wouldn’t like my “Kiss My Ass Doughnuts” shop.

    • Paul December 28, 2017, 7:45 am

I think it would be funny to call it KMA Doughnuts. When they ask what KMA stands for, then you could blurt it out “Kiss My Ass”.

He should have spelled it out, I can’t think of anyone who doesn’t smile when thinking of a gun shop called Fart Bomb Ordnance.

I simply don’t see what the F is wrong with their chosen name. Get your panties out of your crack, citizens & start worrying about something worth worrying about. God knows, there are enough real problems in this country.

What everyone here fails to recognize is that the Logo is stamped on many American Service rifles as the proof mark. It’s on my 03-A3 barrel near the sight. Besides there is nothing profane about saying “F-bomb” since it is frequently used on the “News” to not offend when they are recounting that a person dropped the “f-bomb”. Again, as Orwel warned we are defending in to “new speak” or otherwise called political correctness, which is an affront to the notion of freedom of speech.

    • Damon July 20, 2015, 9:45 pm

Technically, sir, the armory mark to which you refer is the “Flaming Bomb” used to distinguish service rifles produced by Remington and Springfield Armory. I do see how “F-Bomb ” works for this, and understand your point, which, if you’ll forgive a minor pun, right on target.

  • DaveGinOly July 20, 2015, 2:04 pm

    But “Hooters” is OK.

  • davud July 20, 2015, 11:48 am

tasteless name. gun owners already fight an image problem as boorish louts, this doesn’t help

  • wigunowner July 20, 2015, 10:47 am

Wow, maybe next they will pass an ordinance against having a sense of humor.

  • Jim July 20, 2015, 10:02 am

Okay, it is a strange name and I wouldn’t have picked it for my new business. But, in these times the name F-Bomb is mild considering the language used in conversations between teenagers (and even younger kids)! You can’t tell me that the name F-Bomb on a store front would offend them!

The real issue is the fact that a government wants to tell these store owners what they “are allowed” to name their store. It gets down to the very basic reasons that people from dictatorial countries came here looking for freedoms they were being denied. The action of the government in St. Croix Fall typifies what is happening to our country (especially the last 6 years) as we witness the erosion of the very freedoms this country was founded on. Bottom line, if the First Amendment is taken down, the Second will follow and vice-versa! Our basic freedoms will topple in the “domino effect”!

Has any of these leaders in St. Croix Falls ever gone to a movie (or watched some TV shows) produced in Hollywood? The F-Bomb is really the F-Bomb in the trash coming out of Hollywood. But, to the Liberal way of thinking, “that’s different”!!! I guess the leaders of St. Croix Falls won’t be banning movies anytime soon, will they?

They have nothing more important to worry about in this burg?

  • Charles July 20, 2015, 8:12 am

What seems to be the issue with the tender folks in that community> I mean geez, there are infinitely more disturbing choices for a name of a business. If someone decided to included this oh-so-terrible choice of syllables into the name of a newly registered house of religion (of what-ever nature), I couldn’t expect that these self-same protesters wasting anyone’s time with their news-making rejection of this company’s choice of moniker.
If there were anything truly offensive about this it would likely to have been caught earlier in that bastion of conservatism (the State of Wisconsin). Hell, if our dark-skinned commander-in-chief can mutter the word nigger on national TV and not get censored how is it possible that a whimsical naming convention like this example be an issue in this day and age?

I’m a veteran, a gun owner, a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment. I’ve gotten over myself and have gotten on with living my life. A good life I might add. And I think it’s a stupid name.

    • Sebastian Rooks July 20, 2015, 8:59 am

For a guy that has served in the military and your support for the second amendment, I’m surprised of your little concern for the 1st amendment. While people may have their own opinion as to the “stupidity” of the name, no where does it say he can’t use it

      • Gary T July 20, 2015, 10:15 am

Sebastion you’re being argumentative. I have as much respect for the 1st amendment as I do *all* the others. Nowhere did I say he (they) couldn’t use it. I simply stated I thought it was a stupid name. I’m surprised at your little concern for the 1st amendment in not accepting my right to say it.

Of course this is what makes good forums with comment and reply sections. A place for folks to jump right in and read other people’s minds. Like your instant attack mode when you don’t even know me or wonder *why* I think it’s stupid.

        Your turn.

      • Chief July 20, 2015, 10:16 am

He didn’t say he didn’t support their right to use that name ,he said it was a stupid name ,I agree its a dumb name for a gun store .

    • Peter July 20, 2015, 10:08 am

You think its a stupid name. OK. But would you complain to the town

      • Gary T July 20, 2015, 10:19 am

No I wouldn’t complain to the town, he can name it anything he wants.

    • Peter July 20, 2015, 10:09 am

You think its a stupid name. OK. But would you complain to the town

  • John William Staab III July 20, 2015, 7:13 am

Some people would complain if the Sun didn’t rise early enough for them. People should get over this petty nonsense and get on with living their lives!

  • Guano July 20, 2015, 6:08 am

I have but one thing to say to the residents of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin: GET OVER YOURSELVES.

    • JesseJames July 20, 2015, 11:36 am

I don’t see what the big deal is……………

    • Dave Hicks July 23, 2015, 7:51 pm

Agree Not my sign. I don’t see a problem, but I don’t know what an F bomb is either.
