Overview

Steel Will Knives launched the Cutjack at SHOT this year, a drop-point, budget blade made from D2 steel that functions as a flipper with liner-lock locking system.

With an overall length of 8 inches, a folded length of 4.5 inches and a blade length of 3.5 inches, the Cutjack is designed to be an every day carry/utility knife.

Impression

Of all the knives I saw at SHOT, I think I was most impressed with Steel Will’s Cutjack.

The reason is simple, it’s a no-nonsense knife that doesn’t break the bank. Priced around $50, it’s well within the wheelhouse of almost every penny-pinching knife fan out there.

I should note that there are two Cutjacks pictured! The big one and his little brother.  No specs yet for the little brother.

Look, I know a lot of you guys love your $20 Walmart specials. You opine how great they are in almost every knife review we publish on GunsAmerica. But seriously, before you buy another one of those (after your last one broke), check out the Cutjack. It’s stout, it opens with ease and it feels great in the hand.

Price and Availability

There is a nice finger choil that allows one to choke up on the blade.

Available in OD Green or Black, the Cutjack will be available in March. As mentioned, the MSRP is $49.99. Street price may actually be lower.

Looks like a nice affordable knife to me. I have found you can find really quality blades under $100.00. Yes you can spend 3-4 hundred dollars on “custom made” knives but do you really want carry that out on a work site or a day slogging through the brush and woods? I really like my SOG Flash II, a knife very similar to the SW shown here, purchased locally for $48.00. Tough, light, sharp and affordable. We need more real world products like these.

I’ll bet it gets better looking every time you use it.

Enough about your mom…. what do you think of the knife?!

    Very nice!
I may try one, although it would be tough to replace my current favorite, the Kershaw/Ken Onion designed Shallot.
So far, this has been the best bang for the buck pocket knife I have ever owned.
Under $50 too. (Ya just gotta know how to shop)

Visited their web site. There are about 10 different models of the Cutjack. While the site doesn’t mention where the Cutjacks are made other knifes on their site say “made in Taiwan.” Not that that’s a bad thing. I’ve got some wickedly serious knifes that were made in Taiwan and they cost a lot more than $50.00.
As soon as I have the time to ascertain the difference between the Cutjack models I intend to order one.
But if $20.00 is your budget you can’t go wrong with the OSO Sweet made by Kershaw.

Is that supposed to be a “finger groove” foward, as pictured being held? That aside, a snag bumb at the base of the backbone would have been great to assist opening when drawn from a pocket.
