When the Rashiwala brothers arrived in Singapore in 1925, they started off a modest business, C. Rashiwala Bros, trading raw gems with nearby retailers and promoting jewellery to affluent local colonists. They started what’s right now one of the region’s most famous dealer associated with semi-precious stones and jewelry, additionally C. Rashiwala Bros is South East Asia’s oldest and most trustworthy suppliers of Swarovski goods. This company carried on right up until 1942 when WW2 broke out. The Rahiwala great grand-uncle returned to India together with grand-son and the rest of the family. The grandfather remained behind in Singapore to protect and look after the store. Life was hard through the Japanese occupation. In the past of the occupation, he hid inside the nearby forest throughout the day time, coming out only at night time in order to look for foodstuff. In those days, the shop was looted, fired upon & once partially set alight by a marauding mob. Penniless and with what ever he could salvage from the flames, he spread-out a small canvas at the store and placed the recovered fabrics to trade. He was not able to move back immediately into the store because he was unable to pay for the $170 month-to-month local rental and for fixes to the broken shop. A couple of weeks later, he shifted back into the actual store. After the war and also the withdrawal of Japanese troops in 1945, the store was refurbished with teak wood cabinetry and exhibit cabinets. I have owned a few Swarovski Binoculars in my lifetime. I have been a hunter and a avid birder for over 24 years. I use my binoculars weekly if not daily at times. You will not find a better quality optic anywhere on the market today. I have had Leica and Zeiss as well. One thing everyone should remember. No matter how good a product may be if you can not have them serviced in a timely manor what good are they. The Swarovski Team in Rhode Island are nothing short of amazing!! I have had two emergency situations. Going on trips where I have thousands of dollars invested and would be ruined without my bins and not only do they service your optics quickly but I have had two occasions when they Fed-Ex me a loner pair to my home for the next morning at no extra charge!! Brand new in a box to use until you get yours back!! I kid you not!! I will also add that the two times I had problems with my bins in the past 24 years was due to my neglect, I had damaged them. I own pairs of 7×42/ 10×40 / 8×50 and the 8.5 EL’s. All are perfect and fit specific needs. I recently just purchased the new HD80 spotting scope with the 25-60x zoom eyepiece. UNREAL!!! If you can afford them and even if you can’t save for a while and get a pair that fit your needs. You will never be sorry!!!

I hadn’t ever heard of these binoculars and I didn’t know that there was such a big difference. Swarovski is a really good name they must be worth the money.
