Ted Nugent, the ‘Motor City Madman’ Calls for Civility

Rock star Ted Nugent is calling on both the left and the right to take on a more civil tone in light of the shooting at a congressional baseball practice last week that left five injured, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise.

Yes, you read that correctly. The Nuge, the Motor City Madman, the self-described “Detroit street fighter” who is known for his brand of rock n roll rhetoric — you know, the same guy who once told Obama to “suck my machine gun” — wants lefties and righties to now play nice.

In an interview last Thursday with 77 WABC, Nugent said that he would be “more selective with my rants and in my words.”

“At the tender age of 69, my wife has convinced me I just can’t use those harsh terms,” said Nugent. “I cannot and will not and I encourage even my friends, slash, enemies on the left, in the Democrat and liberal world, that we have got to be civil to each other.”

“I’m not going to engage in that kind of hateful rhetoric anymore,” he added.

Is Nugent being sincere? Did he really have a change of heart? Or is he now just saying this because the guy he backed for president in 2016 is in the White House?

I guess we’ll have to wait and see. As it relates specifically to his rant about Obama sucking a machine gun, he told “Fox & Friends” that it “was a direct response to the liberal Democrats — Obama and Clinton, et al — to ban certain types of firearms, violating their oath to the Constitution and the Second Amendment.”

“That was a metaphor and nobody is too stupid not to know that,” he said. “But the left is so dishonest that they have misrepresented that.”

Nugent was also asked if he thinks the left will really follow his call for civility. He noted that he has “not seen any gesture whatsoever from the Left.”

“It looks to me that they are going to burn down buildings if they disagree with your speech, and they’re still going to turn over cars and attack people if they don’t agree with you,” he continued.

    nugent seems sincere and well meaning to me. it can only hurt his brand to be one of the cooler heads – look how he’s being called a ‘wuss’ here – but he’s doing it anyway.

    no good can come of armed occupations of federal property, burning cars in the street or other shows of force. though the way our internecine rancor is building, that’s the future we seem to be headed for.

    I recently read one of your articles wher Ted Nugent was called out for a Facebook post as too extreme and anti semetic, complaining he needs to watch what he says etc.
    And now he is a wuss for trying to show more wisdom and be more careful and calm with what he says….. hypocrite much? These types of articles are starting to remind me of NBC and CNN types of shenanigans

    “Wussification”? Really? Wow, just wow. Remarkably poor choice of words. I surmise then from your title and article that if one’s wife asks a husband to change something about themselves and the husband does he then becomes somehow less “manly” by doing so as opposed to – oh, here’s a wild idea – the husband loves his wife and wishes to please her and bring her joy and peace.

    I can only conclude from your writings here that you don’t put much value in your wife’s opinion or happiness – assuming you’re married – and qualify as an ass. Rethink your paradigm on this. And get a thesaurus.

    The so-called ‘writers’ of GA content should be required to have their copy reviewed/edited/approved by a competent, mature, and articulate editor before it gets published. Whether reviewing firearms or covering quasi-political subjects, these writers are a mediocre (at best) bunch. As to the author of this one using “wussification’ of Ted Nugent in his (original?) title, I guarantee you that Ted would/could kick said writer’s atrophied posterior all day long and twice as hard during Ramadan.

    Regarding some of you boneheads excoriating Trump, you sound like liberals (whining about what the government should be doing for you instead of taking responsibility for your own situation), and given the nature of our hugely flawed two-party system, Trump was clearly the lesser of two evils. If you think that hateful harridan, that broom-flying b*tch, that power-craving castrating shrew Hillary was a better choice, than you should turn in all of your firearms at the next buy-back program and take the movie tickets they give you in return and be first in line for Michael Moore’s newest propaganda.

    Even so, we shouldn’t be focused on placating the left; like with Reagan during the Soviet era, we aren’t trying to appease them — we must DEFEAT them.

    Ever since Vietnam, Ted Nugent has run his mouth like a bad ass. But when the lead starts flying Ted Boy stops showering and dirties his pants.
    I personally call for conservatives to stop being so damn nice. Show up at these snowflake protests and bring your own flag poles to bash their heads in with. Pain compliance works wonders on these liberal nancies. If they limped away from some of these protests they might be a little bit more hesitant to show up at the next protest. Sorry Ted, but civility is not something the left has learned yet and the only way they will learn it is to get their lumps. So in other words, bash a liberal’s head in today and save yourself from having to blow their heads off tomorrow.

      I disagree with your statement. I do not agree with the socialist statements and violence that attend too many of these free speech demonstrations. Becoming violent like them will only make you like those who wish to create chaos in America. Avoid violence at all costs except when in threat of serious bodily injury or death. Do not provoke violence.
      We must do as Samuel Adams said: “It does not take a majority to prevail. but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.”

When you compare Ted Nugent to Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton and the tens of thousands of mindless liberal trolls, Ted looks like a GIANT among red ants (he enjoys stomping on the red ants). Ted is not a politician and he is just like the rest of us constitutional Americans and feels the pain of the totalitarian liberal monstrosity machine. How a lot of people negatively treat Ted Nugent is disgusting and misguided. A lot of conservatives, some wishy washy talk show hosts and of course the liberal media ilk condemn Ted Nugent just like they condemn our President Donald Trump…… for speaking his mind and not playing the political game such as so call Republicans like John McCain.       I’m a detective in a large city police department, use guns at work, and own them of course. You people are not about guns, you’re about hating anyone who disagrees with your particular paradigm. That’s called “ignorance”. You think it was cool Nugent made the remark about President Obama and his shotgun? You people must still drag your knuckles when you walk. I assume GunsAmerica, where I buy my ammo, wants me to enjoy the hobby of owning guns and target shooting (I don’t hunt … that make me a wuss?) but likely don’t support shooting innocent people. So Nugent shows some thoughtfulness, is upset this country can’t get out of violent rut, can’t conduct governmental business, and somehow decides … yeah … we gotta be nicer to each other, and he’s a wuss? I will be taking my business to another ammo shop, and encourage those I brought to you (family, friends, and colleagues) to do the very same. Congratulations on coming closer to the human race Ted.

      Good Lord can’t a man come to his senses and realize that not everything can be solved through violence. He is out there sometimes. He just realized that there are other ways of hanging things. Who cares if he was a draft dodger. The Vietnam war wasn’t too popular. Not everyone wanted to go. I am not happy he did it. It is a shitty thing to do but that is him. How many times in life have you changer you thinking on things. I know I have. That doesn’t make them bad people. He is doing the right thing in his eyes. This world is run on negative feelings and thoughts. It’s tearing America apart. Look at the BLM and the kkk. Hate groups that are being blown up by mainstream media to the point that the uneducated and the sheep of this country are taking it to heart. Mainstream media is going to start a civil war in this country. A racially charged war that the snowflakes are getting involved in that have no idea of reality and are going make decisions on the lies of the media. Ted is evolving with the world. We all need to do that but not forget about the past. We must not relive the past and the sad thing is we are. Hitler took the freedoms away a little bit at a time just like our government is doing today and for the past few decades. Next the people will be fighting certain groups like the Jews were demonized and murdered by Hitler. We are starting to relive the past. It’s time for the good people of this country to open their minds and see what’s wrong and speak out against it. Its ok to change your mind just as long as you don’t lose your mind.

    One of the big condemnations of Trump during his campaign for office was that he incited violence. The Democrats and the media were merciless about the couple of times a supporter punched a heckler in the crowd. Hillary even went so far as to name us all (Trump supporters) a bunch of ignorant rednecks, or something to that liking. Yet, here we are after the election with all the riots and upheavals being promulgated by the left.
    So, Ted calls for civility. I really don’t see how we, the right, can object to such a notion. Taking the high road is the way to ultimate victory. In the end, it shames those who will not. It makes them look the fool. You want the best current example? Just take a look at the what continues to happen in the different local and state elections since November. By and large, it is the Republicans who continue to dominate.
    One other thing; I personally am sick and tired of Congress not doing what they are elected (hired) by the American people to do. They are too busy playing their political games to go to work. Most of us, were we to run around our work place playing games and not doing the job we were hired for, would be fired. Well, we have that same right when it comes to election time. We can fire our elected officials and hire someone else who will do the job. But, one thing we need to recognize; without cooperation – civility – nothing will change. All will remain “status quo”. If you, like me, are tired of this, then we have to demand that the 2 sides of the isle start working together.

A duly elected Congressman and several others who were in his presence have been assassinated by a blind with rage leftist fascist psychopath. Ted Nugent is a hard core warrior for liberty. Did he suddenly grow a vajayjay? NO. He is smart enough to see where this thing is headed. WE HAVE BLOOD IN THE STREETS OF AMERICA. If cooler heads do not prevail, if both sides do not step back from the abyss, the only feasible destination of America’s current path is no holds barred warfare in the streets and martial law – and all that comes with it. Now suddenly Nugent and many others suddenly realize ‘oh wow, violence does not care about your politics’ and liberals have guns to. So were all supposed to play nice. I see what people say in forums, they look forward to the purge, when they can finally kill off all the ‘liberals’. Anybody who dares have an alternative opinion, how dare they, what is this America? Kill off all those ‘traitors’. Odd as it used to be people who worked with or took money from Russians were traitors, now it makes you a patriot, just as dodging the draft makes one patriotic. While a vet who served and dares voice their individual opinion is labelled a traitor. So while Nugent may be calling publicly for civility, we all know nothing has really changed, and they still rant about killing liberals in forums and in private.     The title of the article in the headlines of our emails shows “The Wussification of Ted Nugent”. This could not be further from the truth and I find it highly disturbing that when one of our own changes tactic to something you don’t like (if it were you who put that title in the email) then you eat your own JUST LIKE THE LIBERALS AND DEMS. Look at what happened to Joe Lieberman, he supported the military and they ATE him out of office he was forced to go independent.
    Quite simply Ted is realizing that anger on anger = violence, insult on insult = anger, hate on hate = anger and violence. You don’t swat the hornets nest with a stick you wait till its calm, smoke them out calmly. As you well know dealing with the truth with these people is nearly impossible because the truth is kryptonite and the only way they can see the light is when things happen to them. Because they only have an attitude of “when it affects me” ill deal with it until then, I don’t care. I am speaking of CC and your right to defend yourself. These people only understand the here and the now not a possibility, not a what if, they blindly support those that agree with their other values and candidates that are only concerned with being popular. This country has bred hate since odumba was in office. I personally have never in my 52 years of life seen such racism and hate come out and more so in this past election. Ted is realizing that spewing more insults, is no different than putting gas on a fire. Time to make changes is through education, information and just flat out showing them the reality of things CALMLY. He is realizing that 2 negatives in this case do not equal a positive.
    Overall his message is not wussification its about not arguing, not shouting louder, about being calm, fight with a pen, educate, inform and overall you cannot argue with someone who isn’t arguing.

    So from one of your subscribers, we do not eat our own. Ted is a Patriot and a champion for us and we need more people like him not less. By that title alone I would not want to be on this side and am now questioning the use of this news letter with titles like that!
