It may look a little out of place on this remnant of a bygone era, or on your pheasant gun, but given the choice for home defense between a deer rifle and a doublegun, I'll take the doublegun any day

Four rails is a lot and you may not use more than two, but having them in all positions gives you the the most flexible configuration options

Out of the cool closet comes a quad-rail for side by side shotguns from LaserLyte that would make even Doc Holiday come out of his grave and get out his credit card and laptop. The OK Corral would have gone a little different if he had a laser on that there doublegun, and whether you own a Rossi Coach Gun like you see here in the pictures or a fancy engraved high grade upland game gun, your home will be a little safer with this nifty easy to use device from LaserLyte.

The ADP-ZK Quad-Rail is made specifically for the side by side 12 gauge shotgun and requires no gunsmithing .    It installs in about a minute with a supplied Allen key and six included screws. It is a pressure fit, and the inside of the solid 6061 T6 aircraft grade aluminum is padded so it won’t mar your finish. I installed one on my 12 gauge Rossi Coach Gun easily. I then attached a front grip from Tapco and a combination light and laser on the side, leaving the top free for an up-head sight.

The only limitation with this version of the product is that it is specifically made for 12 gauge guns. I tried it on my 16 gauge and it didn’t fit, so it for sure won’t fit 20 gauge. I do not own an over under, so I was not able to try it on one of them.  If I get a chance I will update this article at a future date. The promotional materials all have side by sides in them.

I can offer one piece of advice if you plan to buy one. Consider mounting it close to the front stock as I have shown in my pictures, not towards the front of the barrels like the promotional materials show. This will give you easier control over any light and laser devices you may choose to put on it, and it gives you the option of using a front handle. With a front handle and a laser, the side by side shotgun becomes an extremely effective hip shooting home defense weapon.

There is nothing like a 12 gauge shotgun for home defense. They are the most recognized weapon that when confronting a criminal, will make them stop dead in their tracks, in fear of being dropped dead in their tracks. Guns are expensive and are a lifetime purchase for many Americans. If you already own a doublegun, even if it isn’t short, this isn’t a huge investment to make your old reliable a little more tactical and purposed for home defense. LaserLyte sells them direct for $79.95.

Is there a max torque specification for mounting this? Can it be made too tight, constrict the barrels?

Do you make this type of rail system for a Rem 870? Thank you for your response. Jim J

We actually don’t make anything but there are aftermarket tactical rails systems for 870s. Check midwayusa.com.
