Tim McGraw Headlining Event to Raise Money for Gun-Control Organization

Authors S.H. Blannelberry This Week

Mega-country music star Tim McGraw will be headlining a summer concert aimed at raising money for the Sandy Hook Promise, an organization dedicated to, among other goals, pushing for tougher restrictions on the Second Amendment.

The Sandy Hook Promise is led by family members of the victims of the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

McGraw believes in their approach to reducing gun-related violence.

“Out of this tragedy a group was formed that made a promise to honor the lives lost and turn it into a moment of transformation,” McGraw said in a statement obtained by NBC Connecticut. “Sandy Hook Promise teaches that we can do something to protect our children from gun violence. I want to be a part of that promise – as a father and as a friend.”

Likewise, McGraw’s fiddle player Dean Brown, who is friend’s with one of the victim’s fathers, is excited about the concert.

“I look forward to being a part of a night of hope and promise and music that will help continue the great work that Sandy Hook Promise is doing,” Dean Brown said.

In addition to McGraw, there will be other country music singers, including Billy Currington and Chase Bryant.

UPDATE: McGraw addresses criticism, Currington withdraws from concert.

I know he is a country singer I guess but every time I see him glen Campbell in rhinestone cowboy flashes in my mind. Him and his ole lady need to stick to music if it’s their thing . Please leave the gun issue to people than understand how to pour piss out of a boot.maybe they could donate money to the viet cong gay rights community .maybe adopt a Iraqi child . Madonna or a. Joline might help her out there

What can you expect from a bastard…?

I never liked his attempts at music from day one.

I am surprised that there are so many people surprised. Haven’t you folks ever heard of Public Relations companies? They can make any hammer and sickle flag waving libertard look like a conservative poster child. Apparently Tim McGraw is one of those. Looking at his bio, he was raised by a waitress mom and a step dad, His real father was a pitcher for the Mets and Phillies, Tug McGraw if you followed the Phillies back in the 80’s. I have no doubt he was raised in a fairly liberal home and has probably never owned or shot a gun in his life. A leopard does not change its spots. His whole image is a lie and you folks fell for it.

I always knew he was a liberal little poser P****. I don’t have to boycott him because I never did like his crap.

  • Mark April 21, 2015, 9:16 pm

Figures, I always thought his music sucked anyway. So long traitor, go and cater to the pussy liberals while us real men go shooting.

  • Russ April 21, 2015, 12:12 pm

Tim you can join your wife as a has been. Your wife fell out of favor with the public because of her diva like behavior, poor music talent, and just looking odd. You seem to have forgoten who your fans were, enjoy your descent into nothingness.

I don’t want one more; inch, sentence, sentiment or whiff of gun control measures in the U.S….. Ever.

That said, I followed the link above: http://www.sandyhookpromise.org/our_story and found no mandate in their organization for further control measures. I may well have missed something so let me know by links if I did. I wish to cut no one any slack who may be just the next person to advance their agenda while screaming from the grave tops of children.

    Todd.

Todd, of course they aren’t going to display a gun control mandate, but you don’t have to google to much to find the Executive Director of SHP influence on gun control. You have to dig a little deeper than the splash screen on the website.

“Tim Makris and a sizable group of SHP families were in town to lobby. The level of their newfound sophistication about Washington and gun policy was impressive. After they were briefed on the contents of Manchin-Toomey, they immediately began pressing target Senators to support the bill. They were told time and again that the bill would never have progressed this far without them and that they had much to be proud of.”

This is all due to Sandy Hook Promise

Lots of Boo’s at Tim Mcgraw! Not an example of a American country singer I am boycotting him and his wife also.

  • Drifter April 20, 2015, 10:17 am

Do not forget that Jay Leno couldn’t step down fast enough as speaker at the NSSF Convention when told that NSSF stands for National Shooting Sports Foundation and issue a statement that he does not support any organization that supports private ownership of firearms!!

The starting place for prevention of future horrors like Sandy Hook is to release the pharmaceutical history of Adam Lanza including his toxicology reports. What was his history with psychotropic drugs? Well that remains top secret information despite efforts by members of the Sandy Hook community using the FOIA to have the information released. Once a person is determined to be guilty of a crime they should have no right of privacy and the medical histories of spree and rampage killers should be released to the public without any delay. Of course “big pharma” is really the one being protected and President Obama and scores of others are in the pocket that political behemoth.

This is a typical celebrity issue. They get themselves embroiled in something they haven’t researched very well.. McGraw thinks that this organization is all about firearm “education” when a little research would show they are really about total government registration and ultimately confiscation.

It’s my understanding that Currington has pulled out of this concert. The problem for McGraw is while he is welcome to support whatever group or organization he wants to since it’s his right as an American, he needs to realize that no matter how “big” he thinks he is, the fan gives and the fan takes away. This will not end well for his career.

“As a father and as a friend,” my Tim McGraw tunes just went in the same file as my Dixie Chicks tunes. Another balance beam act by someone who just wants to sell records. Maybe his next wallering album will be titled, “Can’t We All Just Along?”, featuring the song, “A Country Boy Can’t Survive (If He’s A Limp Wristed Fraud).”

I was raised in the 60s in a house full of loaded guns. There was a simple rule: Those are Daddy’s guns. Do not touch.

And Daddy taught us all to shoot.

    God Bless Toby Keith.

You mean Dean Brown is friends with one of the actors hired to portray a bereaved parent of a Sandy Hook victim. How long will the American public be subjected to this farce perpetrated by our Government? Enough is enough already! The powers that be will not be happy till we all are unarmed sheep to be rounded up, and placed in reeducation camps just like the hapless fools in European countries, now wondering how to monitor the activities of Muslim extremists in their no go zones set up all over Europe and Britain. Now go zones are here in this country thanks to our Muslim in Chief. ” We can’t do anything till they do something” is not a good way of thinking. !

  • Chief April 20, 2015, 9:27 am

Boycott em all.forever and never forget !

  • Bruce Frey April 20, 2015, 8:54 am

I always figured him as kind of left and flaky. This kinds of proves it. You can Put Willie Nelson on the list, too
He’ll be so far up Hitlary”s butt during the campaign you may not recognize him when he pulls his head out again.

  • Tim Waters April 20, 2015, 6:47 am

We have enough regulation in our lives and freedoms being restricted by people who don’t understand. I can place a loaded gun anywhere and that gun won’t hurt anyone. We don’t need to restrict guns just the way people gain access to guns.

    • Peter April 20, 2015, 8:30 am

SO LONG TIM! You joined the other side. It’s not about the terrible, and tragic events its about freedom with you obviously do not support! How about giving a concert focusing on ways to prevent crimes of all kinds against children (like armed people in schools) or preventing deaths of children in Swimming pool accidents which by the way take far more “children’s” lives Good bye to you and your music~

  • Mace Whatley April 20, 2015, 6:14 am

You was one of my favorite entertainers but i don’t think so anymore. Put on your wifes dress and stay in the house. While my friends and myself use your cds for target practice. What a disappointment you are to the mans man. Maybe you could be a spokesperson for cover girl.

  • John April 20, 2015, 5:25 am

    Bye Bye Tim !

3 more artists to boycott; but it probably won’t have much of an impact. They are already being boycotted by shear lack of demand by consumers. Currington and McGraw are nut basket; Currington, anger issues and we are definitely better off with his being disinterested in guns. Chase I don’t know about…but if he is promoting tge anti-gun, lib-commy agenda, he needs to move to a dufferent genre of music.
