Vortex Optics is a sports optics company that manufactures a complete product line of binoculars, spotting scopes, riflescopes, monoculars, tripods, and accessories.  Vortex has gained a reputation for producing some of the “best value for the money” products in the hunting and shooting industry. These Optics are what you buy when you want quality, but don’t want to break the bank and still have the confidence of a limited lifetime unconditional warranty.

The Golden Eagle HD ECR-1 MOA was specifically designed for long-range, F-class, and other competition shooters. The 4x optical zoom, side focus, generous eye relief, and minimal weight are all positive features for staying in line with the competition. Made from a solid piece of aircraft grade aluminum, this scope is waterproof, shockproof and fog-proof–meeting the Vortex standard of ruggedness and durability.  Designed with the competitive shooter in mind, the Golden Eagle has extra-fine resolution Turret with the increment of adjustment of just 0.125 MOA per click which allows for very small adjustments to fine tune shots.  Slated to be released this summer the Golden Eagle has an MRSP of $1899.

The new Razor HD AMG is 100% made in America. Every component from the smallest screw to the index-matched lenses are all entirely made right here in the USA.  The 6-24×50 FFP makes the Razor HD AMG an ideal riflescope for an extremely wide range of shooting scenarios. When it comes to weight, at just 28.8 oz, this scope is extremely lightweight for a long-range scope packed with all the features one would expect in such a diversely capable  scope. If you’re looking for a quality long-range precision riflescope, it would appear that Vortex hit the mark with this one.  This will be available on a limited basis starting this summer with an MSRP of $3399.

Vortex is also introducing a lightweight, fast, point and shoot Red Dot optic with the Sparc AR.  For me, the most welcomed feature of this new optic is that it uses AAA batteries.  How great is that, to not have to hunt for batteries since AAA’s are batteries most people keep readily at home.  The battery life at the maximum brightness is roughly 300 hours and at the minimum setting will be around 5,000 hours.  Available this spring the MSRP is set at $259.

I’ve tried so many scopes in my life and frankly, Vortex Viper line us their sweetspot. For the money, they stand up to comparable focul length Night Force scopes.

Another name that is often overlooked is Millett. They were swallowed up by a competitor but still being maintained as Millett. The LRF is a really bright scope with 135 moa vertical adjustment.

I’ll be happy to compete with ANY shooter from 1,500 yards or less with my Vipers or LRF. I’d rather have them and afford to hand load thousands of rounds of ammo every month… and practice doing what wins competition.

Give me a Break,Vortex for years did not manufacturer any Optics. All crossfire are from China,PST HST from The Phillipe’s.Razors from Japan. The New AMD is redicously priced for for what it is.Thank God Those PST come with that warranty as you will need it.Vortex warranty is no longer the only one with No Fault.

There is much better Stuff out there for the money.

I don\’t care where scopes are made (hopefully AMERICA ) What I do care about is the QUALITY & WARRANTY !
Will they replace it after a day at the range after I use it on my M2HB ? At the end of the day is it still holding a ZERO and are the lens & seals still holding ! While shooting one evening it got so dark I couldn\’t see the target with my (L) brand scope so I picked up my (N) brand scope on my bolt gun and saw the NIGHT & DAYS DIFFERENCE between the two !

  • Ricky Price January 28, 2016, 4:52 pm

They sure don’t make scopes for a poor man. Ho would give over 3 plus for a hunting scope.

    • Paul Helinski January 28, 2016, 5:07 pm

Yes they do! They are called Burris! Maybe a poor many would have to save up, granted, but they are just as good as these expensive scopes from my tests with them, even in low light, and half to a quarter the price.

$3399 “but don’t want to break the bank”!!!! What kind of bank do you have?

    • BillyBobsniper January 31, 2017, 2:57 am

These scopes would be a decent buy at $1200,A rip off at anything more.

  • mark January 28, 2016, 5:02 am

    made in china

    • Paul Helinski January 28, 2016, 6:26 am

I believe Vortex is Japan actually.

    • Bruce January 28, 2016, 8:37 am

Why would you throw them under a made in China bus? First, at least for the Razor HD AMG, it is 100% made in the US; it states that in the article. Second, a simple visit to their website, http://www.vortexoptics.com/content/about_you, shows that they are an American/veteran/family owned business in Wisconsin. Do they use foreign made parts in some of their products; most likely. It would be hard to find a scope that is 100% made in the US.

      • George January 28, 2016, 9:37 am

Actually, the higher end Leupold and Burris scopes, not to mention US Optics have plenty of US components in them and always have. If anything, only the glass is sourced from overseas like Schott from Germany.

Some of the Vortex scopes are made in China, with others made in the Philippines. Glad to see them coming out with a US manufactured scope but its a tad pricey for me. In fact, my only issue with Vortex was the kinda high prices they put on their products made overseas but many competitors use them with great success. I would prefer to buy made in the USA Leupold or Burris for about the same money.

        • Pat February 2, 2016, 9:01 am

George- Burris is no longer made in the USA, Leupold is 100% American made except the glass

Vortex Optics are assembled in the Philippines (with the exception of the AMG, apparently) and carry a lifetime full repair/replace warranty for ANY reason. The scopes are top shelf. I own 2 Viper PSTs and they are excellent scopes. I bought them over the Leupold Mark 4 LR because of their warranty and the excellence of field of vision and clarity of glass. I actually had someone drop one of them on a table and seriously damaged the windage adjustment. I sent it to them on a Monday and it was repaired and arrived back at my house on the following Saturday morning. I HIGHLY recommend their scopes. I just wish I had the $$ to buy a RAZOR HD Gen II or the newest, AMG. Great optics and great company.
