Shannon Watts, the founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, appeared on ‘CBS This Morning’ and touted the group’s anti-open carry agenda now targeting The Kroger Company, the retail food chain corporation.

Currently, Kroger’s policy as it relates to open carry is to respect local and state gun laws.

As executives for the company said in a recent statement, “our long-standing policy on this issue is to follow state and local laws. … We know that our customers are passionate on both sides of this issue, and we trust them to be responsible in our stores.”

Watts finds this untenable, and is actively pressuring Kroger via the new “Guess Which One” campaign to prohibit open carry in store locations.

“The ads portray what is real, which is you’re allowed to bring a loaded assault rifle into Kroger, but you’re not allowed to bring in an ice cream cone,” said Watts.

“Hopefully Kroger will respond quickly,” Watts said. “And we can move on to other companies and other laws and policies. But you know we aren’t going away.”

Over the past year, Moms Demand Action has successfully convinced Starbucks, Chipotle, Target, among other major retail outlets and fast food restaurants, to issue an anti-open carry policy.
