Here is a specimen of the IZH-70 Russian Baikal Makarov pistol, one of the most desireable Makarovs there is, that came into the country in limited quantities in the early and mid 1990s through Bear Arms in Dallas, Texas. This is the .380 caliber variant, and by our poor recollection considerably less plentiful than its Makarov caliber mates. This fine pistol is in its original box with cleaning kit and instruction manual. It has its brown inner paper, cleaning rod, screwdriver-disassembly tool, and extra 8 round magazine. It is excellent throughout, near mint, with no surface detractions that we can observe at all. Bore, chamber, mechanism, and magazine are all bright, clean, well lubricated, and excellent. Specs are traditional double action semi-auto; caliber .380 ACP = 9mm Kurz, 9x17; capacity is 8 + 1 rounds, and this pistol comes with a total of two magazines; sights are flat black windage and elevation adjustable; safety is slide mounted lever type decocker for right handed shooter; barrel is 4-groove rifles 3 3/4 inch; disassembly operates from the trigger guard as a lever; weight empty is 23 1/2 ounces. These are truly fine pistols, perhaps the best on the market in the Makarov caliber, one of the most plentiful rounds in the world.
