This is a Sauer 16ga, 28” barrels IC/O, Scalloped Boxlock with Sideclips, Double Intercepting Sears and Automatic Ejectors imported by Abercrombie & Fitch probably in the early 60’s. It has been my personal grouse and quail gun for over 25 years. It was a gift from my teacher the late Parker restoration master, Dan McCombs (see Double Gun Journal Volume 3, Issue 4, Winter 1992). My bird chasing days are over and it needs a new home. The gun weighs 6.25 lbs. with 13.75 LOP. It’s nicely balanced and carries like a dream in the hand. The barrels ring like bells and are near perfect inside and out. Trigger pulls are crisp and the inside lock works look like a fine Swiss watch with timed screws. External screws are perfect and case colors are about 25%. The action uses a simple yet clever coil spring loaded top lever system which is easily accessed - unlike so many other boxlocks, Parkers, Fox, Smiths etc. making buttstock removal very easy. In short, it is one of the finest boxlocks I have seen short of the very expensive European guns pushing above $50g’s It comes in a high quality metal Dakota Arms case (not shown in the photo) with fitted screwdriver bits from Brownell and a cleaning rod. It also comes with a 30 year old piece of true exhibition California juglens regia that is partially turned and ready for restocking. A job I never got around to since I was so busy working on customer guns. The price is a very reasonable $5,995.00 plus shipping or you can pick it up if you are near Phoenix. If you are a serious buyer I will send you whatever pictures you wish. I have, over the past ten years, sold off my large collection of fine firearms to many very satisfied Guns America customers. randomrc47 at gmail
