Colt National Match Transitional Gold Cup Semi-Auto Pistol serial #27510-NM, 45 ACP, 5” barrel with a bright excellent bore. Pre-Gold Cup “National Match” marked, this firearm comes in its original box with Gold Cup legend and markings and Gold Cup National Match instruction pamphlet within and the test target serial numbered to the gun dated May 13 of 1968 denoting “Colt’s Model 45 National Match”. The metal surfaces retain about 98% original blue, the loss is due to even fading, a bit of high edge wear on the slide and some toning on the frontstrap. The bright portion of the barrel shows a bit of oxidation staining which would easily clean, the polished sides of the hammer remaining mostly bright with the trigger showing light operational wear. The checkered walnut grips with gold Rampant Colt medallions rate very good with the left panel showing some lightly chipped points scattered throughout. The factory black on black target sights are unaltered. A single unmarked blued seven round magazine is included and is not Colt factory. The box itself rates very good with a number of areas of torn tape lifting of the paper covering on both lid and base, the lid with numerous taped repairs, but with the Gold Cup and National Match trophy on the front still legible; it is not numbered in any way. A very handsome 1968 National Match pistol that no doubts shoots as good as it looks.
