The City of Alton, Illinois is every bit as important to Winchester History as New Haven, Connecticut. Here is a fine looking piece from the collection of one of our many friends and relatives in the Alton area. This is a closely replicated descendant of the original Colt Single Action Army that was introduced in 1873, manufactured by Premiere Italian Arms Maker A. Uberti. Importer is Stoger Arms of Accokeek Maryland. Type, of course, is Single Action only, capacity 6 rounds of .357 Magnum or .38 Special Ammunition; matte blue finished steel upper with classic satin finish brass grip frame; Italian Walnut grip panels; and Casehardened Spur Hammer. Barrel is 4 3/4 inch with blade front sight. Weight empty is 41 ounces, with center of gravity directly above the operator’s index finger. Surface detractions are minimal, only faint cylinder rotation marking and fint whitening to some of the cylinder face edges and one of the screws on the left side of the frame. Since it comes in its original box with all its papers and California Compliant Lock, we rate it as Near Mint in Box, 97 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. From its superb condition and from our knowledge of its exclusive owner, we estimate it has been fired fewer than 50 times. From its CH Date Code, it was manufactured in 2011.
