This mint condition pistol was manufactured in 1978 and is still in the original factory plastic wrapper. All original paperwork is present and the box end-label is intact. This pistol is both cosmetically and mechanically in 100% perfect condition. Owning a P210 pistol is the ultimate prize for the advanced SIG collector. Swiss made SIG pistols have always been terrific investments and are now even more so since SIG discontinued manufacture of the P210 series several years ago. If you desire a pistol that is considered to be one of the finest out-of-the-box weapons in the world -- as well as an outstanding investment – if you want the Swiss watch of pistols the SIG P210-6 is for you ! Every male citizen of Switzerland is expected to be an active member of the countries armed forces until age 45. The weapons and equipment issued them on their first day of induction must last the Swiss soldier for the entire length of their military service. For this reason, Swiss weapons must be composed of only the finest materials and manufactured to the highest standards – they are often referred to as “over-engineered”. The Swiss Army staged exhaustive trials to select a new side arm in the late 1940s. In the final competition between the W+F ( the Swiss national arsenal ) 47 pistol and the SIG 47/8 pistol, the SIG entry won the trials and in 1949 it was officially adopted by the Swiss Army. The SIG 47/8, or under its current commercial designation of SIG P210, quickly earned the distinction of being the most accurate and most expensive military pistol ever made and was in continuous production ( and military use ) for over 50 years ! The SIG P210 is a short-recoil operated, locked-breech pistol of all-steel construction. It is somewhat unusual in design in as much as it has inner slide rails, that is, full-length slide rails are machined on the inside of the frame. Most P210 parts are machined from solid steel forgings and then hand fitted. This time consuming and expensive manufacturing process results in exponentially increased durability and accuracy. This P210-6 features: a finely tuned target trigger, beautiful checkered walnut grips, fixed low-profile combat style sights, lanyard bracket, European style magazine release, deeply grooved front strap and a four point safety system including thumb safety. The SIG P210 series is world renown for the accuracy provided by the closed bolt design which insures that the action remains closed until the projectile has exited the barrel.
