Business leaders from around the country signed a letter this week urging Congress to pass new gun-control legislation.

“Gun violence in America is not inevitable; it’s preventable. There are steps Congress can, and must, take to prevent and reduce gun violence. We need our lawmakers to support common- sense gun laws that could prevent tragedies like these,” the letter reads.

“That’s why we urge the Senate to stand with the American public and take action on gun safety by passing a bill to require background checks on all gun sales and a strong Red Flag law that would allow courts to issue life-saving extreme risk protection orders,” it continues.

The letter, embedded below, was signed by 145 bosses from companies including: Airbnb, Amalgamated Bank, Bloomberg LP, Brookfield Property Group, Condé Nast, DICK’S Sporting Goods, DoorDash, Gap Inc., Levi Strauss & Co., Lyft, Pinterest, Postmates, Royal Caribbean, RXR Realty, Square, TOMS, Twitter, Uber, and Yelp.

This call to action earned praise from Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, the anti-gun group funded by former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg.

“As a former corporate executive, I can say with certainty that these business leaders would not sign onto this letter unless they were confident that their customers were with them,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action.

“This letter, along with the recent announcements from corporations like Walmart and CVS to prohibit open carry in stores, proves that acting on gun safety isn’t just the right thing to do — it’s good for business. If this many major brands can act, surely the Senate can, too,” Watts added.

Perhaps the most important name on the letter is Joshua Kushner, the brother of Jared Kushner who happens to be President Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser.  Maybe that familial connection will have the most influence on the president when his administration signs off on its own proposal to address gun-related violence, which is expected in the coming days, maybe even before the weekend.

Because, remember, as much as the letter calls on the Senate to “take action,” Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has already stated that he is going to wait on the president’s plan before any gun-control bills are brought up for debate on the Senate floor, as GunsAmerica previously reported

Trump apparently spoke to Sens. Pat Toomey (R-PA), Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) on Wednesday and was “very engaged, personally asking thoughtful questions, asking reasonable questions,” about various proposals, but didn’t give a thumbs up or thumbs down on any particular bill.

“We’ll know hopefully by tomorrow if there’s something, we can agree on, and once we agree on something we’re going to hold to it and fight for it,” Manchin told Politico Wednesday. Trump “can support something we all can agree on is what I took out of it.”

“We’re getting to the witching hour and we’ll know soon within the next day or two about whether the White House is willing to put a substantive background checks bill on the table,” Murphy said, adding that he is still “less than 50/50 [on whether the president will endorse universal background checks], because I know the president has a lot of people calling the opposite direction from us.”

The takeaway: Maybe this letter will influence what the president includes in his plan, maybe it won’t. Only time will tell.

People are always ranting about needing term limits. If we don’t make LOBBYING (aka bribery) a crime with severe consequences, then term limits will not work.

These corporations throw THEIR opinions (opinions of their few leaders, not their 50,000 employees) in Americas face and a corporation is not a person, citizen, it has no opinion of its own. Like movie stars getting their opinions advertised on CNN like somehow their opinions matter more than mine or yours. BS is going to eat us alive!

Why are you folks so hateful? Is it Michael Berry, Tucker, or Shawn?
If you listen to people spew HATE eventually you will HATE. Feeling strongly about an issue is one thing but the world and God above will not tolerate HATE. Quit HATING for Gods sake!

Now we have a list of the dumbest CEO’s ever employed. Thank you ladies and gentlemen for showing us what intellectual morons you truly are. If any of you have guns please turn them in. You’re too stupid to own them.

I like how all the liberals point their fingers at other people and blame them. Time we turn the tables. Let’s look at the medical community and see how many people they kill every day. This article is from a total liberal organization, NPR, “Medical Errors Are No. 3 Cause Of U.S Deaths, Researchers Say”. Here’s a direct quote, “Johns Hopkins study estimates that more than 250,000 Americans die each year from medical errors”. That works out to 685 US citizens die each DAY because of errors!! Johns Hopkins study estimates that more than 250,000 Americans die each year from medical errors.

If you think that’s bad, don’t look at the deaths attributed to the number of prescribed medication deaths! (Not illegal drugs, but drugs prescribed by doctors!!!)

We need to demand all medical professionals have background checks, and mental evaluations to stop this senseless killing of innocent Americans! These people are already licensed and insured, but it’s not working.

Thank you, GoA, for publishing these sheeples. We won’t patronize their businesses! Never!

Wonder what the stock holders will do when they’re profits crash and burn. Board members are also expected to vote on whether to approve these proposals. If their decisions hurt the shareholders, they should all be dismissed. Haven’t heard of most of these “corporations”,but if I was using their “servaces”,I would inform them that they would no longer be needed. Us 2nd amendment supporters can also boycott them.

Only an idiot bans a tool because some moron hurts themselves or someone else by using the tool in an improper and illegal manner. Perhaps it would be more feasible to ban morons and criminals.

  • Munnster September 13, 2019, 1:52 pm

I would be willing to do it.

Drop the coward fools. Never do business with a company owned by a democrat. Democrats are evil.

There were 4 that I have used. The most used being Offerup. I deleted the app from my phone.

Are there any business owners out there that would want to sign a letter that we support the 2nd A and would put their name to it?

  • SuperG September 13, 2019, 10:32 am

So they do form cabals at the higher levels of corporate America, as this is proof. So now that we know that they have formed a conspiracy on this topic, it makes me wonder what other topics and business practices they are conspiring on. A man with common sense would wonder if there are non-compete agreements in place, or if price fixing was happening.

The usual list of of SWP suspects, bent on controlling every aspect of people’s lives….I stand with the III%

Other than the usual leftwing suspects such as Levi Strauss, I never heard of the vast majority of these companies.

  • Raleigh Thomas September 13, 2019, 7:46 am

Who originated/wrote this letter, and who was it presented to these businesses by? I don’t see that anywhere in the article. The premises it makes for demanding action is absurd, and of course very specious.

How can I “boycott” them ? I have only heard and/or done business with three of them. One of them, Levi Straus quit making their jean product in the USA many years ago. Levis are overpriced and foreign made. Been boycotting them for 20+ years.

Hell, Wegmans is a food store chain based out of the Peoples Democratic Republic of New York. They have LONG been, if not always, a heavy lean to the Left.

Lastly, ChinaMart….err, I mean Walmart. They are one of the major influences on the destruction of the American manufacturer. In turn, tax base reduction and loss of American jobs and sovereignty. 95% of product sold in ChinaMart is Chicom produced. If not Red Chinese it is of foreign manufacture.

When these “business leaders” state their employees stand with them on the eradication of gun rights, Liberty & Freedom in the USA, they most certainly are expressing their Chinese Communist employees, Mexican, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia and other foreign nation employees support the elimination of the USA and what is left of it’s CON-stitution. Hell, these are the same Leftist scum who gave us the illegitimate POTUS Barry Soetoro, aka Barack Hussein obama. To hell with these 145 seditious “business leaders”

    Verify your zero.

    NEVER give up your guns.

      Agree.

2nd amendment is not going away unless we let it.

  • J September 12, 2019, 11:31 pm

Glad we got a big list of companies to boycott and not buy from now. Makes things easier for us 2nd Amendment supporters on where to shop and get services from.

I went down the Asshat List. The only one I’ve used is Levi Strauss for a couple of 501’s that I “grandfathered”. Just like Hollywood/celebrities signing onto this type of shit lists: it means nothing to me. The’re just publicizing that they don’t support the Constitution via their 1A Rights. Lol
