This AR-15-compatible lower gives you 53 rounds in one mag.

Desert Tech Quattro-15

This new lower receiver takes 53-round magazines and allows you to carry seven magazines worth of ammo in just four magazines.

Desert Tech says this saves 8% weight and each 53-round mag is shorter than a normal 30-round magazine.

Rather than a double-stack layout, this magazine uses a quad-stack.

Showcasing the versatility of the AR-15 platform, the Quattro-15 lower receiver is compatible with any standard 5.56 upper receiver.

It maintains an ambidextrous bolt catch and magazine release – though not standard – and it still takes drop-in trigger upgrades. You could upgrade to an ambidextrous safety.

Quattro-15 has AR-like controls for mag and bolt release, though they are not exactly the same as usual.

Rather than using a double stack layout inside the mags, it has a quad stack — hence the name.

What’s more, it is also compatible with standard AR-15 magazines with an adapter. And it does all this with an insignificant increase in weight.

The Quattro-15 Lower is compatible with standard AR uppers.

Desert Tech’s Quattro-15 lower receiver will be available later this spring for $249 and that price includes one Quadmag-53 magazine. Additional mags are $49 each.

For logistics and marketing purposes they need to make that a 60rd mag even if it is longer than a standard 30.
They do need to make a 30rd that would be shorter too like they talked about.
I doubt it would work or at least not well with 300 blk because the weight the spring would have to push would be too much as the 300 blk is so much heavier than 5.56

Check out Schmeisser’s offering I found at SHOT:
    5.56, .223 and 7.62×39 (AK only)
More capacity, no adapter needed, lower price

REALLY?! Why not just purchase the Schmeiser 60 rounds magazines that fit in any AR15? That would be 8 magazines in only 4 magazines. Hmmm. More rounds in fewer magazines without the added cost of the new Quatro platform.

I wonder if they will make one of these AR-15 rifles in .300 AAC Blackout? Having about fifty rounds of .300 Blackout would be neat in your rifle.

It is too expensive for me presently. Thirty rounds is enough for me. I can reload after thirty shots.

Nice upgrade. The price is reasonable. Thanks for the review. Stay safe.

Just purchase the 60 round Schmeiser magazines. If you wait for the sale, they are typically about 50. I can’t see having a much wider mag well as being a good thing. Instead of 7 mags worth in 4 mags you would get 8 mags in 4.

Interesting concept….. but why not just develop a wide magazine that necks up into a standard AR receiver? I have seen it done on other guns.
