Actress Alyssa Milano: ‘Stop the coronavirus gun surge’

Actress Alyssa Milano: ‘Stop the coronavirus gun surge’

Last week, actress Alyssa Milano had a message for America: stop the coronavirus gun surge.

The former star of “Charmed” and “Who’s the Boss” took to Twitter to make her plea.

“Americans bought over 2 million firearms in March of 2020, over a million more than this time last year,” Milano exclaimed. “We have to keep each other safe by social distancing and washing our hands and not bringing dangerous firearms into our homes.”

“I know that we are all scared and really stressed out during these uncertain times,” Milano continued. “But that’s exactly why stockpiling weapons could have dire consequences for our own personal safety and those around us.”

The notion that people are “stockpiling” weapons is probably a gross misreading of what’s really going on out there.

What’s most likely happening is that tens of thousands of 2A fence-sitters who’ve thought about buying a gun in the past but never pulled the trigger (forgive the pun) decided that now would be a good time to purchase their first firearm.

And they’re not wrong for thinking this way.  After all, we are in the midst of a global pandemic where police around the country are ticketing lawbreakers instead of arresting them and releasing inmates from jail all in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19,

These first-time buyers are not hoarding firearms at all but buying one or two for home defense and personal protection.  What Milano doesn’t consider is that the vast majority of these individuals are law-abiding citizens that will undergo an FBI background check at the point of sale from their local gun dealer.

Felons, mental defectives, minors, illegal aliens, among others, will all fail the NICS background check and be prohibited from taking possession of the firearm.

What we’re witnessing is not panic-buying per se but responsible people waking up to the reality that they are — not the government — ultimately charged with protecting themselves and their loved ones.  The Nannystate, despite what the Left says, will not be there to save their hide should a looter, burglar or, worse yet, violent offender victimize them during this crisis.

Milano doesn’t see it this way.

“You know, the weapons that people are buying today could end up being used in households, schools, churches, bars and on our streets in the future,” she said. “So we all have to look out for each other. Please, please, please share this video to help stop the coronavirus gun surge. We can’t lose any more lives to guns during this pandemic or after it’s over.”

She’s so fixated on the fact that guns are being sold she forgets to consider who is actually buying them.  Because by and large, it’s not prohibited persons.  It’s not people who are going to shoot up a school.   As mentioned, it’s reasonably concerned citizens who recognize — what many of us longtime, “stockpiling” gun owners already knew — personal defense is the prerogative of the individual, not the state.

What’ta dingbat! She should also have her bodyguards carry slingshots, instead of popguns then. She’s probably just getting used to adrenachrome rushes and hasn’t gone through withdrawal yet!

  • Ken November 26, 2021, 11:16 am

I like it when anti gunners out themselves… lets the rest of us know where we can go to get free stuff WTSHTF.

  • Steve Hughes April 24, 2020, 5:42 am

Gee, honey… looks like yer zipper’s slipped a bit. Advertising with your fake tits again, you little pig…!??

  • JonsOn April 21, 2020, 12:00 pm

Does Milano know that guns are inanimate objects and pose no threat. It’s when people mishandle or purposely use guns that they become dangerous. So without a person a gun is nothing more than a piece of metal. wood or plastic. The real danger isn’t guns it’s left wing morons who want to take away our right to protect ourselves from both criminals and tyrannical politicians bent on imposing their will on the rest of us. I’ll keep my guns and buy more if I want thank you very much.

    • mike ehrig April 21, 2020, 3:51 pm

im sorry, but I don’t take Hollywood actor leadership seriously. I also cant afford a secured mansion in California with fences and gates and security alarms. our first responders take great risks and they never seem to be within 10 foot of me if I or my family have a serious problem. enjoy your mexifornia, but in the real world, life isn’t always that glamorous.

  • Ziggy April 21, 2020, 10:42 am

I’m sorry if this has already been said but: Regardless of whether her concerns are or are not valid, in what universe is a person who has decided to go through the hassle and expense of buying a firearm due to an emergency situation going to change their mind because some Hollywood person says to?

  • baesment52 April 21, 2020, 9:14 am

While everyone who can pass the checks can own a firearm, we are seeing thousands of people who have never had a weapon. Have no idea how to safely operate, make safe, or store it.In these cases these people are more of a danger to themselves and their families. With ownership comes important responsibility.

  • David April 21, 2020, 9:03 am

This makes me want to buy 2.

  • James LaGasse April 21, 2020, 8:59 am

If firearms are so dangerous than there should be a tremendous increase in firearm deaths if not then there must be something they are missing.

  • Vic April 20, 2020, 7:30 pm

I can’t believe I wasted a good part of my youth fantasizing over this nitwit. I’d like to tell her just to shut up. But I don’t think she would understand.

  • Hondo April 19, 2020, 3:09 pm

When is her sex tape from Tijuana donkey show going to surface ?

There is lot of these folks around , they’re dangerous to your freedom and liberty , take them very serious no doubt.

  • Bob April 18, 2020, 11:31 pm

Spoken like anyone who has never been robbed or assaulted in their own home. Next time ask someone with a bit more life experience.

  • Thomas April 18, 2020, 8:14 pm

Enjoyed your acting especially Charmed I hope you never need a gun , or if you do there is a sheepdog nearby to save you.

  • Andrew N. April 18, 2020, 1:55 am

Not to mention she needs those guns and that ammo for her armed bodyguards. She wouldn’t want them to run out of ammo and subject herself to danger from us “unwashed masses”. Milano, you used to be cute. Then you opened your mouth for something other than oral. Don’t talk about things you don’t understand.

  • Gene Harris April 17, 2020, 11:50 pm

Alyssa, get a real job and a life! To bad you will never see these posts.

  • Shan April 17, 2020, 10:33 pm

  • Tim April 17, 2020, 10:18 pm

    Funny how she has guns.

    • Give Me Liberty April 28, 2020, 5:52 pm

She may not own firearms but she very likely has armed security or body guards around her. If I could afford that I would not need to own firearms either.

  • Greg April 17, 2020, 8:05 pm

I have had a crush on you since I was young. We are about the same age. Now my crush is finally over!

  • AllanB April 17, 2020, 6:59 pm

I have a friend a 63 y/o single woman that lives in a small town south of Youngstown Ohio. It was once a city of steal workers but all the mills closed about 30 years ago. Her home was built around 1940 and is paid for but needs a lot of work inside and out. She can’t afford to move and has had many health set backs including lung and breast
cancer. Drunks and drug offenders roam the streets day and night. Gun shots are so common no one even calls the cops any longer. I have a suggestion for Miss gun hater Alyssa Milano. Trade living quarters with my friend for one year bringing your entire family with you for one full year then tell is we don’t need guys to protect our selves.

  • Beachhawk April 17, 2020, 5:33 pm

Noted firearms and home defense expert and B-list actress wants to give the rest of us advice on how we should (or should not) buy firearms. I think we should all tell her what she can do with that advice.

  • Donald Hoyle April 17, 2020, 4:37 pm

Mine your own business fat butt!

  • RR April 17, 2020, 4:35 pm

We have already seen new felonies committed by convicts released from prison due to the ChiCom virus. Hollow assurances from public servants who were too ignorant or indifferent to do their jobs justified their release. And this sheltered twit wonders why good people felt the need to buy an efficient and effective defensive implement? Get real.

  • Jon April 17, 2020, 4:35 pm

This women has a screw very loose!

  • sudont April 17, 2020, 3:31 pm

    She’s right.

We need to stop the gun, ammo, toilet paper, beard trimmers, (yes, beard trimmers), and whatever else dumbasses are hoarding, surge, lol!

C’mon, people, just buy the stuff you need, so that others can get the stuff they need. Walking in the store and saying, “I’ll take all the 9mm ammo you got!” doesn’t help. That’s how runs on banks and stock market crashes occur. Spreading paranoid fantasies on the internet ain’t helping, either. Crap like that could become a self-fulfilling prophecy by creating fear and panic amongst the gullible. Jeez Louise, it’s just a self-quarantine, not the apocalypse.

    Alyssa:

Please post your address so I know where to go get toilet paper at an unprotected home.

  • Mike Branden April 17, 2020, 2:18 pm

Actually this woman is so correct. Why is it that all impulsive yahoo’s jump on the wagon now to arm up whey you should of had a firearm a long tome ago and trained with it for safety and security sake? It’s a fad and now when this pass’s over you will neglect having a firearm around forgotten and possibly not secure for a mentally ill , crazed person or even your own child to gain access to it and cause harm. God forbid a Death or multiple deaths in a frenzy. Think and be safe this is not a game, firearms are deadly. I am a strong person that respects our constitution and ex military Honorably discharged from the service and advance weapon training with multiple combat deployments. I believe some should own firearms and some should not. Use you head for Gods sake and have respect for one another. God Bless America.

    • DELCO January 1, 2021, 3:38 pm

Stop with the background highlights. No one is buying it . She is in no way right mike. For you to assume everyone buying during the current surge will be irresponsible while you and your specialized skills will show us all how it’s done is ridiculous. Maybe people are reacting to the surge in crime, or the violent BLM, ANTIFA riots taking place in many major cities. Or the fact that the media for the most part won’t report the truth about who is actually committing the crimes. Maybe mike with your skill sets you can protect us all while holding hands with little miss who’s the boss.

  • Chris April 17, 2020, 2:09 pm

No one is hoarding firearms. People are preparing to defend themselves because police have stated that they will not answer calls for crimes that are not “serious”. Now that many states are releasing criminals back into our communities, the need for self-protection is even more important. Read the headlines: several released criminals have committed serious crimes, including homicide. The state of Washington just released 950 “non-violent” criminals. There has also been an increase in burglaries of closed businesses. The good news: home burglaries are down because armed citizens are home.

  • OldGuy April 17, 2020, 12:55 pm

What can be expected from a Hollywood actress who lives inside a privileged bubble while being catered to and exposed to all the liberal Democrat yada-yada crap?
Don’t most of these Hollywood types live in Fantasy Land? Most of these types, whether female, male, or the undecided in-betweeners who cannot, or do not, identify with either gender, like it or not, are likely registered voters.
I see the 2020 Presidential Election focusing on one key issue, The Second Amendment to The Constitution and gun ownership as supported by the Republican incumbent and our President Donald Trump. In contrast, the Democrat Candidates, likely, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, will definitely treat gun ownership like a selected piece of forest land ripe for clear-cutting.
The 2020 Presidential Election is likely the most decisive and pivotal event of our lifetime which will either keep our gun rights or watch them being taken away.
If you want to see the modeled California gun control agenda nationally forced down the throats of the other 49-states, then the Democrat ticket is definitely for you and so is Fantasy Land.

  • Martin Messersmith April 17, 2020, 12:26 pm

When times are tough, that’s when criminals get busy… It’s the MOST IMPORTANT TIME to be armed and prepared.

Now – go back to your secluded, secure mansion with 24-hour armed security and STFU.

  • Torn April 17, 2020, 10:28 am

@Alyssa: Why do you think your voice matters? You have no more right to an opinion than anybody else!

    • brian wrox April 18, 2020, 12:17 pm

She has a right to state her opinions – intelligent or stupid.
And her “fame” or notoriety gets them put on magazines or sites.
That gives her commentary a certain weight, deserved or not,
which convinces movie fans of its veracity and importance.

  • Gus April 17, 2020, 10:23 am

Another Hollywierd mental defective DEMANDING she be in control of everyone else’s lives. This stopped being about THE PEOPLE’S CHOICES a very long time ago, now it’s who’s got the $$ and power to dictate THE PEOPLES LIVES.

    • Walter morris April 17, 2020, 12:28 pm

What is a dangerous gun? Probably the one in your hands. The guns in honest citizens hands can be your life saver, or mine. The 2nd amendment is the thing that has guaranteed your freedom from tyrants.

  • Gus April 17, 2020, 10:19 am

I had to pick up my new 2020 Colt Python that was pre-ordered for months before all of this a few weeks ago, the same day that Ohio Gov. DeWine made his first covid-19 address. It took me 6.5 hours total waiting in lines to pick up a gun that I had already done everything to get, just needed to get to the gun counter to show my I.D., sign the paperwork and go to the register. People had shown up at 4:30 am to the gun store that opened at 10:00 am. When I arrived just before 12:30 p.m. the line was already 200 people OUTSIDE the store doors, and this is a very large gun shop and indoor range. By 1:30 p.m. they cutoff any more gun purchasers, moved all of us inside, gave us a ticket # and closed the doors to that side of the store, posted someone at the store entrance to only let in “other than gun purchases” customers. After 5.5 hours I finally got to the counter and because my paperwork was already mostly done, only had to sign and go to the checkout line, which was another 1.5 hours. After standing in line for 5.5 hours it was very pleasant and easy to strike up conversations with alot of people, it made the long wait somewhat better. Out of about 250 people in line, 65-70% were first time panic gun buyers, most commenting they never thought about owning a gun until the covid-19 panic. Of those, about 50-65% said or made comments that they had either voted for anti-gun legislation, much tougher gun laws or were just voting for “sounds good” anti-gun laws blindly without knowing anything about guns or what we already have in place. Watching so many get delayed purchases (holds to determine if they pass background check or not/further research for 3 days) and denials walking away pissed off and furious, and just how angry people were that they couldn’t just walk up to a counter, pick a gun and walk off became a very REAL AND SOBERING SLAP IN THEIR FACES that all the anti-gun talk on the news and in public WAS NOT REAL BUT FAKE NEWS.

    • Carl Schweitzer April 17, 2020, 4:29 pm

      Oh my,That is so cool.

    • Irish-7 April 21, 2020, 10:02 am

Let’s hope ALL these folks remember the lessons of gun purchasing, when they step in the booth on Election Day! I hope your Python lives up to all your expectations. I am considering buying one of the new Colts as well. It may be a while……

  • Jim Cargill April 17, 2020, 10:16 am

Take a break, Snowflake. While you are on that break, do some opposite thoughts research into how weapons save lives. It’s out there, you just have to look for it because the media will not show it.

What’s funny to me is that the three greatest spikes in March gun sales over the last 20 years occurred during COVID19, and the years immediately following Obama’s re-election. Makes me laugh.

  • Ed Taylor April 17, 2020, 10:08 am

Who the Hell is Alyssa Milano?

  • Dave April 17, 2020, 9:46 am

Typical, disconnected, oblivious libtard. Take away her armed body guards and watch her change her tune.
Cities, Counties and States are releasing prison inmates in a misguided attempt to “fight” this Pandemic. Police are calling in sick, being told not to respond to assault or B&E calls and looking to minimize exposure.
We are truly being left to ourselves and this brain-dead bimbo is doubling down on the failed policies of the left.

  • Lynn April 17, 2020, 9:24 am

Well, maybe if the libs weren’t so intent on sneaking everything from 2A infringements to out and out gun grabs into their version of the stimulus bills, folks wouldn’t be so intent on getting one while they still can. The cash needs to go to peeps who need it, not pork, pet projects, or illegals.

If it were up to me I’d require gun owners to take a basic pistol or rifle class at least once in a lifetime. (This means I’m not a constitutional carry proponent). I do have plenty of toilet paper, however and my mother did show me how to wipe my rear end. 😝

That is true to a point. Their are some people that are clueless on how to properly handle a firearm and should have to go through training to attain a weapon. Just because they can pass a background check doesn’t mean they can handle one. I have an FFL icense and sell firearms but am picky as to who I will sell to. When in doubt I won’t sell!

      • Mike April 17, 2020, 10:06 am

Shout out to Ted and Al. Both great points.

My FFL is the same, only sells to customers who “you’d invite into your living room”.

Nothing wrong with some good old fashioned common sense either. Those of us who have trained and practiced to be and are safe.

Funny, the dipsh-ts in Hollywood have full time and well trained security. Of course they don’t need to buy a gun. Funny thing is if you searched their homes or were able to look at the ATF database, I bet most of these baseless idiots living in never never land have several guns. When it hits the fan, let’s all go to Hollywood and meet our friends on the far left like Melissa who is so concerned about us, set up home at her house, poop on the lawn and in her house, eat her food, and take the occasional PAID trip to vote or give her our new printed ballots from the Internet. Now you know why she wants to appear like our Mom! BS, and take the trash out and turn out the lights Melissa after the virus ruins the useless cancer called Hollywood.

  • Robert April 17, 2020, 7:15 am

“Dangerous” firearms into our homes? What about cars? Are they dangerous? What about medical malpractice or heart disease? Are they dangerous? It’s not about being “dangerous” Mrs. has never owned a gun in her life. EVERYTHING’s dangerous.
And “But that’s exactly why stockpiling weapons could have dire consequences for our own personal safety and those around us.” is rediculous – stockpiling weapons never has “dire consequences”… LEAVING THEM LAYING AROUND THE HOUSE WHILE YOU’RE OUT SHOPPING DOES however have dire consequences, because now you’ve just armed a burglar free of charge. Like my parents just did. Again.
Just like the military, guns belong in only two places, ON you, or in the arms room, period. It’s when we put a gun on the nightstand and then leave the house, is when these guns fall into other people’s hands and it’s those people that do nefarious things with these guns, not the responsible citizen that pays the money and undergoes a background check there little Mrs. ignorant. When you buy a few guns and go out shooting, then come back and start posting little “tweets” or videos about the things you know about firearms and their owners.

  • me April 17, 2020, 7:11 am

If she or her husband are not responsible enough to have a gun in the house than they probably do the right thing and not have one. But, she shouldn’t project her weakness on the rest of us.

    • SeppW April 17, 2020, 6:40 pm

Not projecting weakness, but lecturing you. Liberal elitist like to lecture the rest of us on how we should live and what to value, neither of which includes freedoms, liberty, or rights.

  • Rick Cosmar April 17, 2020, 6:51 am

Another baseless point of view from a left wing liberal. She needs a therapist. Her unreal world opinions should be ignored.

    • BR549 April 17, 2020, 8:04 am

The problem is that most of the therapists are, themselves, consummate libtards and have no idea about the emotional immaturity it takes to deal with Trump Derangement Syndrome. That is why so many of their patients are only able to get marginal help in band-aiding their discomfort and they keep coming back for help.

Of course, those therapists are quick to reinforce their development-arrested patients’ contorted view of society, which is why their patients keep coming back to have their precious egos massaged.

  • Jesse Scott April 17, 2020, 6:45 am

I bought another one in your honor. Don’t tell me what to do bimbo.

    • Boomer Taylor April 17, 2020, 8:55 am

I wish that Ms. Milano would realize that it’s not the guns that are dangerous. Nor does the legally responsible buying of firearms in order to be able to protect one’s self pose a threat to the general public.
It’s the people who are not of sound moral compass who would and HAVE taken advanage of this and any other time of civil distress in order to steal, rob and otherwise take criminal action against a vulnerable public who pose the actual threat.
I understand and support her plea against firearms related violence however i also belive that is, at times,, misdirected.
Violence will occur but not by people seeking means of personal protection. Unfortunately it can and will happen anytime people believe that they can get by with violence, that it happens. Human nature is not all peace and fairy-dust when civil disruption occurs.
The storms in N.Y. and through the south turned into a free-for-all and lots of people and businesses were attacked and looted. Armed citizens were forced to defend themselves and their businesses.
Readily enforceable laws under times of a “secure” state deter most who are afraid of the immediate consequences of illegal actions but, when those laws become difficult to enforce, such as during times like these, it is both the right and responsibility of the individual to be able to protect themselves, when the standard enforcement of the rule of law becomes threatened. That is, after all, the premise of our constitution.
It is reasonable action to take the necessary steps to ensure our individual security.
It is true that gun sales increase because those who normally think “I have time, I’ll buy that gun when I have a little more money.” change their priorities and put their personal security to the top of the fiscal list.
Unfortunately, just like people who think irrationally about things like hording toilet paper and other supplies, they tend to over react and buy more armament than they need which throws the scales off balance. There is a difference between being able to protect one’s home or business against a break-in, even by multiple invaders and being able to defend against a full-on armed assault by enemy forces. Be responsibly armed and trained in the use of those arms and have enough ammunition to facilitate training… But there is no need to buy 3,00 rounds of ammo when other people are trying to purchase from that same supply for the same reasons. That said, it’s often quite cost-effective to purchase in volumes of 500-1k rounds. BUT, this is not the time to be selfish. If your neighbor also has the ability to buy ammo, your entire neighborhood becomes able to defend against a rogue group of bad guys. Buy responsibly!
I don’t believe there will be a shutdown of the manufacturer of paper products because there is a dangerous virus going around and I don’t believe there will be massive riots and looting, such as existed during storms Sandy and Katrina, etc.. However, I do believe that there will be an up-tick in crimes of opportunity anytime law enforcement is stretched thin. More break-in robberies and home invasions, etc. React and arm according to the situation, not for an impending zombie outbreak.
It is the duty and responsibility of an individual to be able to ensure the safety of themselves, their family and property… For the government, at any level, to act against the responsible act of protection by an individual is as much of a crime as it is to break in and steal their property.
People should act with reasonablility and restraint when acquiring supplies and in the act of arming themselves.
People with concerns that buying a weapon directly implies a rise in gun related violence should stop to think and realize that people who take up arms in times of social unrest or threat to the security of the general public aren’t doing so to be able to commit acts of violence but to prevent them and to protect themselves, their neighbors and those weaker than themselves, which could possibly include you.
Armed citizens come to the aid of their fellow citizens daily in this country. Unfortunately, that action garners little notoriety in today’s media, if at all. It doesn’t fit the desired narrative.
Lastly, I would point out that concerns of safety, responsibility and negligent firearm-related accidents and fatalities are genuinely deserved and anyone choosing to arm one’s self out of fear for their security should give great weight to the act of purchasing firearms and to the responsibilities undertaken with that action.
Learn the physical and moral implications of being an armed citizen and get the physical and mental training in order to become a RESPONSIBLY ARMED CITIZEN.

Easy for her to say since she probably lives behind a huge gate and more than likely has armed body guards. Look snowflake, try living in the real world with the rest of us.
