The appeal of the Aimpoint Micro T-1 is as easy to see as its 2MOA dot. The optic is small, yet not as exposed as most of the red dots on the market. For shooters who demand performance, durability and versatility, the T-1 is a great option. its modular bases allows it to be mounted just about anywhere. Yet that modularity has allowed others machinists to get rich making aftermarket mounts, especially for the AR-15. But not anymore. Aimpoint is now selling the optic with a riser and a quick detach mount, neatly packaged together, to cut down on all of the aftermarket confusion.

Aimpoint 02Before we get to the package, which is the real news, let’s go back to the optic. The T1 has been around since 2007. It is hardly new. Yet Aimpoint continues to refine its performance. The T1 is now available with a 2MOA dot. That’s incredibly precise. I’ve used Micro T1s and Micro H1s (their scaled back version aimed at the hunting market), and I’m a convert. While I prefer the wider field of view of some other optics, I have yet to find anything that can compare with the pinpoint accuracy offered by the T1. What it lacks in speed, it makes up for in accuracy.

But mounting it has always been a challenge. AR pattern rifles have low tops. The T1 sits so low on an AR rail that it is almost impossible to use. Risers help, but some are chintzy at best. Their fin like protrusions off the top of an AR sometimes seem fragile, which isn’t something you’d ever say about an AR or an Aimpoint. There are options, obviously, but they require extra legwork to find and can be pricey.Aimpoint 03

The new package from Aimpoint comes with a Micro, the LRP mount (which pops on and off with a lever), and the Micro Spacer High to get that perfect AR fit. Rock it up on your shoulder, and the dot is there. It increases the speed of target acquisition, the mount and riser are as rugged as the T1 itself, and the whole combo makes shopping that much easier.

No word yet on the package price, but that shouldn’t be too far behind.
