Owners of SIG Sauer P320s just got a new subcompact option thanks to Amend2, and Glock 43 and 48 owners are getting another magazine option with Vuurwapen. Both are branching out into new territory.
This isn’t just new territory for Amend2 and Vuurwapen, this is a new segment of the gun industry that a handful of companies are only starting to explore. The S300 by Amend2 is a grip module that lets P320 Compact and Sub-Compact owners use P365 magazines, while the Vuurwapen HMC9 is a new firearm that takes Glock Slimline slide assemblies and also uses P365 mags.
Both are interesting developments for what they represent. With components like the S300 and HM9C gun owners are gaining the ability to mix and match different parts of different guns to get the best features of multiple designs.
Like a lot of emerging technologies, there are some caveats to the new products. The S300 is built for the SIG P320 Compact and Sub-Compact, the latter of which is getting hard to find since the introduction of the P365. And the HM9C, which is still in early development, will be an 80 percent kit that will need some finishing work at home to use.
Still, what these represent isn’t any less promising. We’re seeing a turn-around time on polymer parts production that’s incredibly quick, with other manufacturing processes enabling rapid prototyping and testing that dramatically reduce the amount of time from concept to final product.
With the S300 you can take a P320 Compact or Sub-Compact and slim it down a bit, and with the HM9C you can take a Glock 43 and really upgrade its capacity. Of course the HM9C will also work with 43X and 48 pistols, which start with a 10-round capacity, but will also be able to take advantage of 15-round P365 magazines.
One more advantage shared by both the Amend2 S300 and Vuurwapen HM9C is that they incorporate full-length Picatinny accessory rails, which aren’t available with the P320 Sub-Compact, SIG P365 or any of these Glock pistols right now.
The suggested retail price for the Amend2 S300 is $49 with retail under $40 while the Vuurwapen HM9C is too early in development to predict a lot in that regard.
Of course for anyone who already owns a Glock 43X or Glock 48 there is a really easy way to bump up the magazine capacity there with the new, steel Shield Arms Glock magazines.

These slim-walled steel magazines by Shield Arms increase the capacity of the Glock 43X and Glock 48 to 15+1 without adding any length to the grip. They do encourage the use of an aftermarket metal magazine catch over the factory polymer part.
They’re not cheap at $39 per mag but that’s not outrageous in the greater world of handgun magazines, either. Shield Arms also offers magazine combos including an upgraded magazine catch as well as combos including magazines and magazine extensions for the ultimate everyday-carry package.
The Shield Arms website show you can order them in packs of 3. $125 or $200 for 3 three G43x magazines. The website indicates both magazine packs are out of stock.

You mention shield arms magazines for the Glock 43x and 48. That 15 round capacity is great but the magazines still have not been widely released to the public. I have been waiting for a year now to buy the magazines and every time I speak to the company they are coming soon. I gave up on shield arms and bought a sig p 365xl instead. I carry the 15 round magazines. My idea is that either shield arms needs to release the magazines or quit advertising until they have something to sell.
Did you pre-order? If so you’ll have them in hand soon. Mine was one of the last before they stopped taking them. I just received my three in the mail with the mag catch yesterday.
If you didn’t then you have to wait until all the people who put their money where their mouth is and actually supported a new untested product get theirs first.
From what I can tell Shield Arms is filling all the preorders first, and it’s being done in 4 groups based on when you preordered (according to their blog). I would think when those are done the general orders will be taken. I was in the fourth group and got mine last week.
It’s an excellent product. So far in my tests the magazines have worked flawlessly; when my tests are complete (including carry ammo tests), I’ll use them for daily carry.
