AR500 has a wide selection of sizes in various levels of protection.

AR500 makes armor. In light of recently introduced legislation that would ban civilians from owning body armor, we thought we’d show them some love. And they’ve got some great new options for those who want or need extra protection.

The AR500 Micro Plate Carrier is a new twist on ballistic protection offering its user both hard and soft armor options in a small plate carrier capable of use in both concealment and in a GTW “go-to-war” scenarios. Available in Black, Coyote, Wolf Grey, Olive Drab, and Multicam, the carrier is ready for employment in urban environments as well as in the field. One size fits most, and they even have an option for youth sized shoulder straps if you are purchasing this carrier for a smaller framed host.

Designed with mobility and comfort in mind, this Micro Carrier gives adequate protection to large framed shooters and full coverage to small frame shooters. It covers the vital organs, focusing on the heart and most (if not all) of the lungs. The Micro Plate Carrier is optimal for youth and some female shooters as it gives them a full sized armor option built to scale.

The Micro Plate Carrier is small, which means it is lighter and easier to conceal.

The Micro Plate Carrier comes with two 8”x10” ASC Level III plates, but has the option for upgrades to either curved plates for $40, or soft pistol plates for $74.

The Micro Plate Carrier also comes with a 2x double M4 magazine pouch and a double pistol magazine pouch. This carrier is optimal for someone looking for a one-carrier solution; it gives you an armor system that is adaptable as well as expandable. The Micro Plate Carrier is a small enough to be concealed under a light jacket, yet capable of being loaded out for all of your tactical needs.

It is built in America and retails for $270 with two 8”x10” ASC Level III plates. With civilian body armor under constant attack don’t miss your opportunity to own this great piece of kit.

Better the armor should stop the bullets than your body.

If you should be unfortunate enough to need it, it would be nice to not be hit by the bullets. No, you are not “bulletproof”. But instead of bleeding out, you might only have really bad bruising. And maybe get a “second chance” at your aggressor.

Pretty cool, I wonder how many people will use it for concealed carry purposes? So many ccw holders are looking for light-weight carry options for all sorts of clothes in warm weather. It is not a substitute for training and being aware of what is going on around you–it may stop some bullets, but it doesn\’t make you bullet proof.

Follow the link in the article to find more information on pricing, options, performance, etc.

Anyone wanting more information can go to ar500armor.com for purchasing/pricing.
Also, they – as well as third parties – have multiple test videos posted on YouTube. Just do a search for AR500 and a slew of videos appear.
Wonderful company to deal with. The turn-around time on my plates were accurate, but they still went the extra length to keep me updated during the wait. Fit and finish are superb.

I was wondering when someone was going to catch on to the AR500 metals! Those of us that knew already have been shooting this stuff for years. It will stop any thing pistol wise even the 500Mag at 20 yards. Rifle wise we’ve shot 5.56 penetrators at 30yds, no problem, 308 at 30yd no problem, 300 mag at 30yds dents a bit, so far no penetration on any round we have but if someone is packing a 50 BMG, Run! Someone should test with a real armor piecing round to see what it will do as they are tungsten and that would be the real test! Just for information, no steel plate will fully protect you and anything that will stop a bullet your also going to need protection from Spall and Ricochet! You have to figure in the cost of the plates, Spall protection and a vest to put them in. So your looking at 350 plus on average maybe more depending on where you get them! Want even better go with the AR600 cost more but it’s even harder!

Jay, the AR500 (company) plates come with anti-spall coatings, and you can get the “extra” layer of coating at an additional cost. Total package is under your $350 estimate. I got a front and back plates, curved, shooters cut, with two 6×8 side plates, all rated level III, with the extra coating for $270. Just an FYI

Typical government, ban anything that could give us citizens the upper hand.

    • Jim February 4, 2015, 8:41 pm

      Sad but true.

    • PJ - "That Others May Live" February 5, 2015, 12:09 am

The government does not speak for our military. Politicians, for the most part, are pansies. Without military backing, out government is helpless.

    • Whyawannaknow1 February 5, 2015, 10:21 am

Or perhaps, if you know how to lead a pig?

Maybe at some level, US Govt. knows something about a future need for a REAL, self financed, widely distributed militia and are stimulating all interested citizens to properly equip themselves via reverse psychology. Like, for instance- If our economy is going to crater and they won’t be able to PAY the regular army soon… But want some light infantry level defense capability positioned nation wide? But not at a level that could RESIST the federals in a local secession type insurrection. No crew served, no secure commo, MANPADS or AT capability allowed.

I have seen how the US Government behaves when they REALLY don’t want you to have something (like the afore mentioned effective encryption, modern machine guns and light anti armor weapons) What I have seen for a while now looks quite different-

  • Steve February 4, 2015, 7:08 am

No performance test? Just what will it stop? 12 gauge slug at 50 feet, or less ? High-powered rifles up close and personal?

    • Mark A. Rittner February 4, 2015, 11:53 am

Go to Demolitionranch’s channel on Youtube. He tests a lot of things for a lot of companies. There are also a lot of other people that have channels on Youtube that make videos on a lot the the products you see on Guns America.

  • Ted Konugkis February 4, 2015, 7:00 am

    Where is it sold ?

    • Mark February 4, 2015, 11:50 am

AR500.com and you can check out videos of it being tested by a young man on demolitionranch videos on Youtube. I have subscribed to Demo Ranch for a while. He’s a veterinarian that has a couple of Youtube channels and he likes to shoot things, mostly with shotguns but he has shot AR500 plate armor with most calibers.
I am not associated with any of them, just a shooter that likes to help others get the right information.
