Don't Mess With Date Night: Armed Couple Stops Robbery in Progress (VIDEO)
© Louisville Metro Police Department – A true power couple, Detective Chase McKeown and his wife, Officer Nicole McKeown, are credited with stopping an attempted robbery at a Louisville Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020.

A masked robbery suspect received quite a surprise on Saturday, Feb. 15, when he entered a Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers franchise in Louisville, Kentucky.

The suspect entered the restaurant at approximately 10 p.m., to find only a pair of customers in the establishment. That couple, however, were two married off-duty police officers out on a date night.

Elizabethtown police officer Nicole McKeown and her husband, Detective David McKeown, drew their off-duty weapons, pursued and apprehended the suspect who was later identified as Justin Carter.

“I saw her hands go up like this and I’m like, ‘Is he doing what I think he’s doing?’ ” Nicole McKeown said during a news conference, describing how the scene unfolded. “And he’s like, ‘Yeah.’ “

“There was literally no question. We just looked at each other: ‘Is this what’s going on? Let’s go,’ ” said Chase McKeown, adding, “We just did what we felt like we had to do.”

“The couple, who met on the job at EPD when he was a patrol officer and she was a dispatcher at the agency, have been married for six months,” Elizabethtown Police said.

Carter, a convicted felon, appeared in court on Feb. 17 and was represented by a public defender. The Associated Press adds that he will next appear in court at a preliminary hearing on Feb. 25.

As for Chase and Nicole, they said they’d be back to visit Raising Cane’s in the near future (the restaurant they ate at the night they got married).

“Oh, absolutely,” she said. “I love Raising Cane’s.”

Maybe it’s a misunderstanding! He was only wearing a mask to cover his ridiculous prison tats.

Missed that one on the national news. I suppose that if the scumbag had shot the clerk then it would have supported the left’s gun CONTROL agenda we would have seen it heralded far and wide. but since a bad man with a gun fell victim to a good man ( and woman :)) with a gun then it just gets a last page low ball mention.

I’ll bet Bevis the butthead will be more careful next time. Oh, wait he is going to prison. Bye, bye jerk.

Everyone with neck tattoos should be arrested and imprisoned for pre-crime.

Before I start I lean way more Left then Right, but I am Party Blind with a Free Mind, and I don’t vote straight tickets as I vote for the person or the issue; Now if I am more Left then why have a carried for over 30 years, and I want The Right to put in National Carry as they blow smoke about, lets just do it. Anyway, I want all our LE to be taught that there are a lot of US good honest Carry folks out here. This story would read the same if a civilian did what these brave cops did. But, do all of our Cops understand that a lot of US have their backs?

Lefties should be disarmed, being unable to honestly answer “no” on question 11.f of the 4473.
