ATF: This Valentine’s Day, Nark on Your Ex for Firearms Violations!
The ATF got creative for Valentine’s Day.

The hapless federal agency tasked with investigating and prosecuting firearms violations has announced a new strategy for identifying suspects.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) posted a graphic across their social media platforms this morning encouraging readers to turn in their ex-lovers this Valentine’s Day.

“Valentine’s Day can still be fun even if you broke up. Do you have information about a former (or current) partner involved in illegal gun activity? Let us know, and we will make sure it’s a Valentine’s Day to remember! Call 1-888-ATF-TIPS or email [email protected],” the captions reads.

The response on social media came fast and furious. Here are a few of the gems from Twitter.

Many of the comments revolved around one of three stories. The most common response noted that from 2009 to 2011, the ATF itself allowed Mexican drug cartels to obtain over 2,000 firearms used to kill at least 100 Mexicans.

Dubbed “Fast and Furious,” this operation was ostensibly designed to track firearms from straw purchases in the United States to high-level Mexican drug cartel leaders.

But the ATF failed to trace most of the firearms agents allowed to “walk” and many were found at homicides much later, according to a review by the Inspector General for the Department of Justice. Some have also speculated the ATF, at the behest of the Obama administration, allowed the guns to be used in homicides to advance the gun control agenda in the U.S.

Other commenters to the ATF’s Valentine’s Day post pointed out that Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, lied on a Form 4473 in 2018 and has never been prosecuted.

That year, Hunter Biden purchased a .38-caliber revolver and marked “No” on the question, “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?” according to Politico.

Hunter Biden is infamously addicted to drugs and was discharged from the Navy Reserve in 2013 after testing positive for cocaine.

When Hallie, now Hunter Biden’s wife, found the gun in his pickup truck, she tried to throw it away in the trash can of a nearby grocery store. Hunter claims Hallie was worried he was going to kill himself, but he became “very agitated” when asked if the gun had been used in a crime.

The gun was recovered and turned in to authorities by a man who was searching through trash cans for recyclables.

Hunter has not been prosecuted, and ATF agents confiscated the purchase forms from the gun store the day of the incident.

Other commenters slammed the ATF for killing dogs, which is a popular internet meme stemming from the ATF’s involvement in the Ruby Ridge incident. During that incident, federal agents killed Sammy Weaver’s dog, which sparked the first deadly encounter of the 11-day siege of the Weaver property.

As of this writing, the ATF has not commented on criticisms of its Valentine’s Day post.

Just wait…..they will establish a hotline and promote it with social media advertising…..they want liberal, brainwashed millennials to “rat out” those “crazy uncles” and others in the family that have “scary war-looking” firearms for Biden’s Confiscation Corps, otherwise known as the ATF. Or is it the AFT, Joe? Joe is dAFT. Do you remember when you showed your brother’s/sister’s kids your “cool stuff”? Well, they grew up to be leftist dolts who will be enlisted to help the ATF disarm the public. Hide your good stuff. Better yet, lose it in a boating accident and inform your extended family you are now officially without your stuff. It might work.

This story I am relating goes back decades, but I remember it clearly and the fact it took a long time for the case to be resolved. A mad ex wife reports to the ATF that her former husband had a machine gun. In his case, he did not, he had a standard AR, but he was arrested anyway, and charged. The ATF performed an in his house inspection of the rifle, it was obvious it did not have ‘Auto’ on the receiver, and by simple manipulation of the safety, it would not go beyond the ‘Fire’ position into what could be assumed was automatic and owner modified. The ATF, in trying to prove their point, loaded the weapon for testing, with ammunition hand loaded with the primer set a bit higher than factory normal, which is way to make an AR fire more than one round with a trigger pull, and it did fire several rounds in succession. In court, his lawyer exposed everything that happened, and the ATF admitted it had doctored the ammo for the test, but all the grief he had to go through, all the government employees being paid to hound this man, he having to pay out of his pocket to prove his innocence. It is an ATF fact, if you have a semiautomatic firearm of any type or caliber, that fires more than one round with one trigger pull, for any reason, including manufacturer defect or ammunition defect, you can be charged with the illegal possession of a machine gun.

This could come back to Bite BATF If someone gets pinched because of it
Well, when they get out of the joint They Know who to settle the score with don’t They?

Which would make BATF an accessory to murder

BlueHeHimDog, the criticism of the ATF’s post is spot on funny. The original post?……only a a rabid, power-hungry leftist would find anything remotely funny about an attempt by a government bureaucracy to use romantic relationships to encourage citizens to wreck their partner’s lives. Give me a break, didn’t land right? You are a troll.

It’s kind of a funny joke that didn’t quite land right. And the way the reactions got away from them, at least as reported by GunsAmerica, is kind of funny too. The overall situation is greater than the sum of its parts.

    I wonder if it worked.
