Once the sole purview of military units and billionaire preppers, thermal optics have become increasingly attainable by the Average Joe. Still, it’s been tough to find a good thermal for under $3000. That is, until now.

ATN announced at SHOT Show 2020 a new line of low-cost thermal clip-ons and monoculars along with a revamped version of their popular day/night optic. We stopped by their booth to peer through their new products for ourselves, and we gotta say—we were impressed.

The clip-on line of thermal optics was getting the most attention at the ATN booth, and rightly so. The TICO LT can attach directly to a day scope or be mounted just forward of the scope on a Picatinny rail. Users simply mount their favorite optic (including ACOG and Aimpoint), and the thermal reticle will align with the day scope’s reticle.

The TICO LT is available in a variety of configurations depending on the end user’s needs. At the low end of the spectrum, the TICO LT 160 (17-micron 19mm) can detect a target at 475 yards, recognize that target at 240, and identify the target at 160. At the high end, the TICO LT 320 (12 microns 50mm) can detect a target at 1,700 yards, recognize it at 700, and identify it at 400.

ATN hasn’t released pricing details on the various models, but Director of Marketing Steve Lemenov told us the entry-level model will cost around $1,799, and all models should be available in the summer of 2020.

We were impressed with the quality of image. Unlike other budget-friendly thermal optics, which often depict people and animals as little more than blurs or blocks, the TICO LT produces great clarity and detail.

“I was very impressed. It’s a lot better than I was expecting,” GunsAmerica Editor True Pearce commented. “Really, really good thermal.”

ATN’s new monocular, the OTS LT, maintains that high quality. At just 1.2 pounds, the OTS LT is perfect for a go-bag or hunting kit and can be used for everything from scouting to tracking to search and rescue. ATN plans to offer the entry-level OTS for $999, and it will be available in the summer of 2020.

Finally, ATN unveiled a more streamlined version of its popular day/night optic. This model is called the X-Sight LTV, and it reduces the sometimes-overwhelming number of features found on their previous products. The X-Sight LTV only offers users video recording and one-shot zero, but it upgrades the HD sensor and significantly lightens the overall weight.

The X-Sight LTV uses a high-end infrared-capable digital camera to allow users to see potential targets during the day and night with the aid of an infrared flashlight. ATN plans to offer 3-9x and 5-15x models, which will be available this summer for around $699.

Price points are very attractive! The clip-on is priced almost identical to Armasight Gen2+ devices. I hope they can integrate a laser range finder as they have with their Binox 4T

“the OTS LT is perfect for a go-bag or hunting kit”

It may be IF it has magnification… Does it???

    • KEN February 27, 2020, 1:34 am

      It’s a clip-on. It doesn’t need too magnify!

The OTS is not clip-on except perhaps your belt. It’s a monocular! And, yes, it does come in various powers.
