Beto O’Rourke Is Running for Governor of Texas, And He Still Wants to Take Your Guns

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Current Events This Week

Beto O’Rourke wants to be the next governor of Texas.

The former congressman and failed 2020 presidential candidate announced his 2022 gubernatorial bid on social media.

“I’m running for governor,” O’Rourke said, “Together, we can push past the small and divisive politics that we see in Texas today — and get back to the big, bold vision that used to define Texas.”

“A Texas big enough for all of us,” he added.

O’Rourke may be the most anti-gun politician in modern Texas history.

Not only does Beto believe civilians shouldn’t have access to commonly owned firearms and accessories, including modern sporting rifles, but he also believes the government should actively confiscate them from law-abiding citizens.

During a 2019 Democratic presidential primary debate, O’Rourke made his intentions clear, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.”

Following the debate, O’Rourke even tried to capitalize on the remark, selling t-shirts on Twitter:

This week, when asked about his controversial call to disarm Americans, O’Rourke did not back down.

“Most of us understand the responsibility that comes with owning a firearm, and we will vigorously protect that Second Amendment right and also protect the lives of those around us,” he told The Texas Tribune

“But I think most of us also understand that we should not have military-style weapons used against our fellow Texans,” he continued. “We have four of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history right here in Texas that took place over the last five years.”

The National Shooting Sports Foundation, the firearms industry trade association, believes O’Rourke’s anti 2A stance won’t fly with Texans.

“Mr. O’Rourke is out of touch with not only Texas voters, but also with the rest of America,” said Mark Oliva, NSSF director of public affairs in an email to GunsAmerica. “His opening gambit was to double-down on his unconstitutional plan to not only ban but confiscate lawfully-owned firearms from Texans.”

“This is on the heels of Gov. Gregg Abbott signing into law Constitutional Carry and the Firearm Industry Nondiscrimination (FIND) Act, which prevents corporations from benefitting from Texas tax dollars while discriminating against members of the firearm industry and working to deny Texans of their Second Amendment rights.

“Mr. O’Rourke’s gun control policy proposals have more in common with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau than they do with Texas voters,” continued Oliva.

A University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll published earlier this month had Abbott leading O’Rourke by 9 percentage points.

They get enough imported weak minds they will have this virus as governor. Time past Time to lock the border down and ship the invaders back where they came from

  • Nicholas November 24, 2021, 8:35 am

As early as 1807 came before Chief Justice John Marshall the case of treason by Bollman and Swartwout. In his ruling the Chief Justice wrote “To complete the crime of levying war *** there must be an actual assemblage of men for the purpose of executing a treasonable design.”. Ex Parte Bollman 8 U.S. 75. Sending men or women afield to disarm the people by force “evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism” that would certainly “amount to levying of war”.
That would apply except for the fact that people, the organizations, and the attorney’s in the questionable pro-2nd community deny and disparage what is in the original Constitution and the purpose of the 2nd. The community doesn’t even understand the fact that agencies such as the FBI, ATF, etc. are forbidden by the fact that the Constitution recognizes only Militia in those roles.

From U.S. v Miller 307 U.S. 174 (1939) (A ruling that is almost universally misread by both sides.)

“The Constitution, as originally adopted, granted to the Congress power —

“”To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel
Invasions; To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of
them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the
Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed
    by Congress.””

“With obvious purpose to assure the continuation and render possible the effectiveness of such forces, the
declaration and guarantee of the Second Amendment were made. It must be interpreted and applied with
    that end in view.

“The Militia which the States were expected to maintain and train is set in contrast with Troops which they
were forbidden to keep without the consent of Congress.”

If we maintained constitutional Militia as required by law, Beto and groups like Mom’s and Everytown would be serving long stints in prison for Treason, if they could even be speaking about gun control. But, let’s ignore the law as it is written and trust people who are enriched by fighting a battle to stop gun control. Let’s go on creating bad case law, and dumping billions into legal fees instead of producing ammo and training with it. How sad!

What is the matter with these politicians?? The ( electric grid ) did not fail!! GENERATION is what failed!! These. Idiots that think the green BS will generate enough electricity are getting rich over it! Most all the gas, fuel oil , coal power plants were closed by the getting rich politicians pushing their green new deal. Build more real power producing power plants here in TEXAS because the Wind and Solar will never produce enough power or even pay for them selves. Your tax dollars are subsidizing wind and solar!!! Wake up!!

  • Jrp November 22, 2021, 8:06 am

Of course he has a shot. 2020 showed us that a guy that couldn’t draw a crowd larger than 200 and couldn’t win his own parties nomination until they paid Bernie the communist off and received 81 million printed and adjudicated votes. Senate seats around the nation went blue by impossible odds while house seats were lost in the same states to red. As long as you have electronic voting machines to adjudicate and mail in ballots you can print like money anything’s possible for whoever counts the votes. Ask Stalin. Fix 2020. The corruption is on both sides. We learned in 2020 that people have been buying and manipulating elections since the day the machines were put into use. Why else do think Beto would run to begin with in a state he doesn’t have a shot in the dark. There’s a reason they opened the borders. The communist want Texas worse than Florida. Funny. They let anyone and anybody in from South America but don’t dare let any Cubans in. Could it be that they have seen communism first hand and probably wouldn’t vote for more communist when they get here? God’s speed.

  • jim November 19, 2021, 3:30 pm

For Jack (below): Why does it not surprise you? It’s because you have a singularly focused mind. You ignore evil events in history which were preceded by gun confiscation, and other events in which private gun ownership helped turn the tide against oppressive dictators.

You also ignore that every person on Earth has a natural right to self-defense, and defense of their loved ones. People like you want us to be reliant upon everything from frying pans to kitchen knives for our self-defense. Are you, Jack, a trained knife-fighter? If not, you and your family will be butchered by people who have NO qualms about breaking the law.

To sum it up, Jack, you sound like an idiot. We have an indisputable, natural right to protect ourselves and others from harm. The Second Amendment simply provided us with the best available tool for that purpose.

Your comments literally scream, “I don’t care about the facts. I don’t like guns, and nobody should have them.” Man, talk about “little pea brains”…

  • Jack November 19, 2021, 1:07 pm

Why does it not surprise us that there are so many folk that purport to value democracy yet vote completely over ONE issue as against the overall benefit. But that reflects the stupidly and ignorance of these people who would sacrifice our country due to their perverted and uneducated understanding of what “freedom” and “democracy” really mean – and what they Allow.
How ignorant can one be to think their little guns – such an unnecessary need in life – control their very limited intellect.
The gun makes a man of these wanna be Lone Ranger’s and John Wayne losers. Better to lose democracy in this country but maintain our little guns to fondle and drool over and to show what a man we are!
Whattya gonna do tough guy, go fight the government forces with your beloved AR-15 when the fascists take over, as almost happened under the previous lunatic President?
No, you don’t have a clue, I’ve been there, seen war, anarchism and death, corruption in 3rd World countries to appreciate what we have. Not the hateful, ignorant, in-bred Neanderthals such as the Proud Boys and the really stupid losers that stormed our Capital under trump’s instigation – a real true american fomenting violence of this magnitude – you gotta be kidding me if you have any support in your pea-brain for any of these people!

Dude, check your audience, and spell and grammar check before you rant. You do realize that not everyone just fondles and drools over their guns to prove they are John Wayne. Some people actually hunt and put food on their table, also keeping the deer and game population down so that people like you aren’t dying on the highway in an accident when you hit a deer. And I too have been to those third world countries you speak of. Yeah, I am grateful that I have the right to bear arms to defend my family from people who would do us harm. I have personally seen the pictures in the papers of those who had their ears and lips and breasts cut off by rebels in the bush because the government troops who were to protect them did not get there in time, and they were not allowed to own a gun to protect themselves. If I were you I would research your stand before approaching with emotion and stupidity. You might learn something about those of us with our “little guns.”

    • PilotBill November 20, 2021, 7:22 am

I too have been to third world countries MANY times and have seen the corrupt system there. I have visited with the people on the streets and sat in the homes of people in drug ran slums. Their government’s promised everything and delivered nothing. Meals for the impoverished if we can have this bit of power, healthcare for all if we can have this bit of power, jobs if we can have this bit of power, protection if we can have this bit of power, and slowly they gave away their countries to men who seemed benevolent but became or were already corrupted.

Soon, nothing was left and the only ones to protect them were themselves and they have no means.

The intellect… oh what a stupid and pitiful argument over intelligence. Observe the facts and keep your insults to yourself as they only heap shame on your head. You don’t even know that we have never been a democracy and in fact are a representative republic. It is not weak minded people who fight and prepare through the tools available. It is the resourceful, brave, and wise who stand and protect our liberty.

  • swimmer November 19, 2021, 11:54 am

Beto is a political hack. He makes a living by running for office. This is just another new job for him. Really disappointed in Willie Nelson endorsing this guy.

  • Ken November 19, 2021, 10:23 am

I am an El Paso, Texas Democrat. Beto shot himself in the political foot when he came out against AR rifles.

Sometime during the last time he ran I remember driving in a high end Dallas conservative neighborhood filled with Beto lawn signs. I was surprised he had appealed to that demographic of voters.

Then during the course of the campaign the Walmart El Paso mass shooting occurred and Beto was driven to make the controversial AR statement.

A few weeks after that I was back in the same Dallas neighborhood and all the Beto lawn signs had disappeared.

Republican or Democrat… this is a gun loving state. Beto will not do well. Poor Beto couldn’t get elected to dog catcher in Texas.

I sometimes marvel at the ego of some, actually most, politicians. It makes them think that no matter how wrong headed or self defeating a position is… they won’t walk it back… even in the face of certain defeat because of it.

It’s politics as spectator sport around here now.

  • Javier Keefer November 19, 2021, 10:02 am

  • Karl Beesch November 19, 2021, 9:37 am

Texans would do best to “Remember the Alamo”.They fought bravely there but were over run by the sheer massive numbers of Hispanics not unlike the southern border presently . At a time when you are being invaded by illegal aliens desperate to have what you have and bringing increased crime and drugs and trafficking with them you don’t want your Governor to confiscate your only and most effective means of protection. The police are only minutes away when there are just seconds to save your life and the life of your loved ones.

    • Ken November 19, 2021, 10:35 am

In 1836 the Alamo… and Texas were Mexican national territory. The invaders were Americans trying to annex Mexican territory.

As for today… in Texas there are three times more felony level crimes committed by whites than by Hispanics.

From a proud Hispanic Texan whose family has been here long before your people left Poland.

      • Aquaman November 19, 2021, 11:45 am

  • Nicholas November 19, 2021, 9:29 am

I’ve already made note of this in a reply to a comment by “Let’s go Brandon, FJB”, but it worth pointing to this case; Ex Parte Bollman 8 U.S. 75 (1807)
In his ruling, Justice John Marshall wrote, “To complete the crime of levying war *** there must be an actual assemblage of men for the purpose of executing a treasonable design.”.
In this country, unique in the world, the Constitution commands that each State maintain militia for the purpose defined at Article I, § 8, Cl. 15. This establishes that Militia, composed of all able-bodied men 18 – 45, (States may require younger and older people) MUST be enrolled in the county Militia in which the individual resides. It is a lawful entity, not a bunch of guys running around claiming to be something for which they have no legal understanding.
Since the Constitution commands that the people, who by law compose the militia and enforce “Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections, and repel Invasions”, must be armed to perform their lawful authority, disarming them by force, is an act of treason. It is precedent. I’ve sent my article on the subject, and I know of a constitutional scholar who sent a similar article with more detail, to the NRA, GOA, etc.. Those supposed pro-2nd groups want nothing to do with the actual law as it interferes with their fund raising, but it would also show that they’ve mislead the people and collected billions in a fraudulent proposition.

  • Clint W. November 19, 2021, 9:17 am

O’Rourke is not the problem, it is the 37% who are currently supporting him that are the problem. They are the reason for every problem this country has right now, from Biden to the border. They have no critical thinking ability between their ears, they support every destructive thought that comes down the pike, they suckle from the government teat, and just want more.

    • Big Al 45 November 19, 2021, 11:37 am

Bingo! You nailed it my friend! And this is why we DON’T have secure borders, the Dems gotta get those illegal votes.
“We the people” of all States should be deeply concerned by this, if Texas goes, what then?????

    • P. D. November 20, 2021, 4:41 pm

No, the real problem is that the support for someone like Beto in Texas is now up to 37%, and rising. And the 37% number is how many say they would vote for him for certain. Many undecideds will also vote for him, pushing his numbers into the 40’s. Dangerously close. Think it can’t go over 50%? Let’s not forget it was not that long ago TX had a democratic governor.

And to make it worse, current polling shows only a 27% approval rating with independents for the current governor Abbott. It is, after all, the votes by independents that decide most elections. Abbott on the ballot is a problem, giving Beto votes in protest.

Every year TX becomes more blue, a victim of its own great business and tax polices. It will likely be within my lifetime that TX goes so far left that it ends up with a governor like Beto. And that just might be the tipping point for our entire society.

    • Nicholas November 19, 2021, 8:40 am

When the Constitution was created, there were several that saw issues that would eventually destroy our unique form of government. They were very wary of the judiciary noting that it would be likely that it would centralize power. The Anti-Federalists were correct.
The original Constitution provides the people with the authority and power to restrain, even prosecute public officials for violations of the oath of office. The courts have completely corrupted the rule of law. What is beyond my comprehension is why the American people submit to all the obvious violations of the Constitution. In fact, very early in the Nations history, Justice John Marshall ruled as to why actions by agencies such as the FBI, ATF, DHS, etc., commit acts of treason. http://www.restoretherepublic.org/?p=4471
The Constitution forbids the creation of all those agencies, but, unfortunately, they exist and it is the pro-2nd community who is foremost in assisting the unlawful acts of government agents.

I don’t get tired of voting for Beto. He’s likeable. After some point, William Jennings Beto will find his Cross of Gold.

The Ds are out-hustling the Rs in Texas. The Democrats are playing a long game, organizing and getting their voters out. The Republicans know this, they see it happening and they can’t be bothered. They are taking Texas for granted. Some time in the 20s, and I think sooner than later, Texas will flip blue in one of the Senate seats, the Governor or nationally in a Presidential election, and there is no way Republicans win the White House if Texas flips. This is all fine with me, mind you.

Real Republicans, not guys like Trump, more like Jeb Bush and Paul Ryan, I am not sure they want to win. It is almost like they apologise when they win. The real Republicans are embarrassed to be in the same party as the pro-life, 2A hillbillies in fly over country. Professional Republicans and Democrats, people that work for the parties, are the worst of the swamp creatures.

You’re right Alex. The aholes move from NY and NJ because they can’t stand living in the hell hole they came from and move to a red state and vote the same way eventually turning that state blue. I live in Virginia and the same beltway sludge has moved in and turned out state blue. This 2021 election the people had had enough. People in the less populated areas actually got out and voted. It made a difference. We elected a republican governor, lieutenant governor and att. general. Don’t think your vote doesn’t count. If you look at the state counties colored in red and blue about 90% of the state is red. However the populated areas in northern Virginia, Richmond and Virginia beach are heavily populated and in the past have controlled the outcome.

      • Blue Dog (he/him) November 19, 2021, 9:01 am

This is what I am talking about! The Texas Republicans keep burying their head in the “no true Texican” sand while the Democrats are organizing, texting people who voted in the primaries and harvesting their electorate. Are you familiar with the “no true Scotsman” fallacy?

Real Texicans made less than 51% of the electorate of Texas in the 2018 Senate election. Beto set a record for most votes ever cast for a Democrat in Texas, more than even voted for Hillary in 2016 and nearly tripling the 2014 Democrat Senate candidate total. The national media has been focusing on Texas during mid-terms, Beto in 2018 and Wendy Davis in 2014. Beto’s mistake was that he began to believe his own press; in 2018 he was on the Colbert show and the cover of the Rolling Stone, in 2019 they won’t give him the time of day in the Presidential race. It would be funny if it weren’t tearing down such a good man. Will 2022 be the time they build him up big enough to topple the true Texicans? Bury your head in the sand to find out.

It’s coming on fools like you, your senile dunce and BeatoffO. How will you all escape the wrath of God and the damnation of everlasting fire?

      • Blue Dog (he/him) November 19, 2021, 9:15 am

How do I escape the wrath of the Lord? By redemption in the Blood of the Lamb. Sola fide; only by faith am I redeemed, sola gratia; only by His grace am I justified. Judge no lest ye be judged.

(he/him)? I have a better pronoun for you coward:
(she-it). Satan can quote scripture better than most. Here is a quote for you: “I know ye not”.

    • krinkov545 November 19, 2021, 8:53 am

Snippy annoying little devil’s boy cuss aren’t we blue dog.

Without the holy city are the DOGS.

How appropriate and fitting is your name.

Enjoy the flames flamer. Just like your senile dunce.

      Oh, horseshit!

You want Beto to be crucified? That’s pretty dark, man.

You know the whole point of WJB’s speech was for mankind not to be (financially) crucified on a cross of gold? All you liberals like to fancy yourselves intellectuals, right?

      • Blue Dog (he/him) November 19, 2021, 3:18 pm

You mean how WJB was warning against the gold standard? Yeah, he had a point about bimetallism. Silver slippers on a golden road as L. Frank Baum allegorised, at a time when America was banning Muslims because they believed in polygamy, not because we were modern Crusaders in pointless and unending foreign wars for oil.

Oh look, it’s Blue Dog the Horses Ass again.
You wouldn’t KNOW a “real Republican” until he kicked your ass Blue Boy.
And once again, you show your true colors by insulting people you don’t even know, typical elitist Demmie jack wagon nonsense.
The anonymity of the internet makes you one brave asshat.

“getting their voters out”… We call that letting illegal aliens across the border. Apparently the only way you losers can grow your party since you have nothing of value to offer a knowledgeable voter.
