President Joe Biden is notorious for talking nonsense about firearms and the 2A.
Here are just some of his past remarks:
- He has told folks that ARs are “harder to use” and “harder to aim” than shotguns.
- He has also advised homeowners who feel threatened by a potential invader to empty their double-barreled shotgun into the air, and “fire two blasts outside the house.”
- Cops should shoot knife-wielding attackers “in the leg,” as opposed to center mass, according to Uncle Joe.
- And, part of the reason why one should support a ban on “assault weapons” is because cannons were “outlawed” during the Revolutionary War.
Well, this week he was at it again while talking to the press after disembarking Marine One on Monday.
Biden referenced a recent visit to a New York hospital where doctors showed him x-rays of victims with gunshot wounds.
“They showed me an x-ray,” he said, recounting how a 9mm bullet from a “high caliber” weapon causes more damage than a .22 caliber round.
“A 9 mm bullet blows the lung out of the body,” he continued. “There’s simply no rational basis for it in terms of self-protection, hunting.”
To make matters worse, 46 then reiterated his lie about a founding-era ban on cannons which has been explicitly fact-checked by The Washington Post. The Post gave it four Pinocchios, which means it’s a “whopper” of a “false claim.”
“The Constitution, the Second Amendment was never absolute. You couldn’t buy a cannon when the Second Amendment was passed,” he said.
Several GOP lawmakers scorched the president for his astounding ignorance.
“The 9mm is the most popular self-defense round in America, and the caliber of choice for his own Secret Service,” Oklahoma Senate candidate Rep. Markwayne Mullin told Fox News Digital. “Biden’s ignorance is a threat to our constitutional liberties.”

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) added that Biden, “finally admitted how widespread the Socialist-Democrats’ gun control agenda is when he calls for the banning of handguns that citizens use to keep their families safe from criminals.”
“Law-abiding Americans have a constitutional right to protection whether Joe Biden likes it or not,” Scalise continued. “Especially as crime rates soar in Democrat controlled cities across the country, now more than ever Americans are exercising their right to defend themselves from the violent criminals being released on the streets by ‘defund the police’ leftists.”
Reports indicate that Biden plans to meet with lawmakers in the coming days to discuss various gun control measures.
On a positive note, at least Biden is somewhat aware of his own limitations, as he admitted to reporters Monday that he doesn’t have the power to ban guns.
“I can do the things I’ve done and any executive action I can take, I’ll continue to take. But I can’t outlaw a weapon. I can’t change a background check. I can’t do that,” Biden explained.
I have never been a fan of the 9mm round ( personal preference ,
nothing against it ) , but the notion of our government banning any
round , in common use , is absurd .

To defend Biden on one point in particular – he might not mean .22LR when he says a .22 bullet. A 5.56 or .223 projectile would be correctly described as a .22 bullet and would fit with the current focus on ARs.
I think pretty much everything the Executive branch can do, or even get away with, to crack down on assault weapons has happened in the last 10 or 12 years. They didn’t manage to pull off the ban on penetrator 5.56 ammo after their 5.45 ban and the ITAR redefinitions on gunsmithing fell flat, so I guess they could go for that again. Barack Obama’s influence is certainly easily seen in the current administration with so many of his people back in high positions of the current administration and Obama has said repeatedly that his inability to get any of his firearm agenda passed was the greatest disappointment of his administration. I think this has contributed to the singular focus on restricting access to certain firearms and accessories in the wake of these shootings at the expense of considering other measures that would help with school safety, like what they are calling hardening the schools. Why not do both? Why so vehemently pursue one with the absolute dismissal of the other?
It is a total shame that Chuck Schumer is an ineffective fossil. The comments I have heard reported from Mitch McConnell, that he is open to advancing gun safety legislation but it would have to come from the Democratic caucus, only to have Schumer say they won’t be doing anything in the Senate… it is like what I heard this one guy say on the radio, not all old people are innocent. Why is Schumer scared? Why are the Obama holdovers so urgent to move on gun safety now? Because they are preparing in case the mid-terms go poorly and the nation is burdened with two years of gridlock and stagnation. Congress has very little power if any on gun bans and anything limiting or banning would be infringing which is not legal under our Constitution. However state’s Rights have self-appointed power and leeway to do as they please but usually under executive order which can be trashed when the tyrant has left office which occurs never soon enough. If you are old enough to recall that when Reagan was fired upon by John Hinkley the LEOs were on him (Hinkley) in a split second and one standing up was quickly scanning the area holding what appeared to be full-auto UZI type weapon in his right hand. You do not see Secret Service carrying these but obviously they have them concealed in an easily accessible carrier. 9mm is my choice for a semi-auto pistol and minimum in ballistics. 357 and 44 magnums are superior but the recoil can cause hesitation not to mention reacquiring target delay. Full auto such as the old BAR 30.06 and on down in size will cause everyone to hit the deck faster than the rounds can travel or so they hope.
I had occasion to visit an indoor range and took the opportunity to hang the silhouette target at 25 ft.. As fast I could possibly fire, no hesitation, all 13 rounds hit the body mass and I guessed that all were severely disabling and most fatal. Each were satisfactory if one had had only a single round to fire. I have that target but I moved so it is boxed up somewhere.
My next elk/deer hunt I shall save the lungs to hang up between rib cages and see what happens when a 9mm is fired at that target. I know already only thing to exit the target will be the bullet. I can try a 30.06 as well and know again that a bullet will be all that exits but it should be a interesting video to share
I should add that it was a Browning Hi-Power 9mm I used at that target to be clear.
