Biden’s Strategy to Win Iowa Voters: Attack Gun Rights, NRA

Joe Biden wants to gain traction with Iowa voters before the February caucuses.  To do so, Uncle Joe is rolling out a series of ads attacking gun rights and the National Rifle Association.  Because, apparently, Biden believes Iowans don’t value their right to keep and bear arms.

Of the $4 million he plans to drop in the Hawkeye State over the next several weeks, a portion of it will be dedicated to disseminating two digital ads on social media.  One is called “Troubled Soul,” and uses clips from Biden’s speeches to reaffirm his anti-gun position; the other is called “Classroom” and features a school teacher voicing her displeasure with active shooter drills.

“This is not something an educator should have to be talking about,” Jayne Lyons, a teacher from Denison, Iowa, says in the “Classroom” ad.

“I shouldn’t have to do this. When I found out that Joe Biden was going to run for president, I was excited, because I trust Joe Biden with gun issues. He’s brought both sides together. He will fight the NRA, and he knows how to get things done,” she continues.

The notion that children are constantly under fire is also played up in “Troubled Soul.”

“Children went to school today learning how to duck and cover because they may get shot in school.  Talk about a troubled soul in a country,” says the former Vice President in the clip.  “Assault rifles, magazines that holding 40, 50, 60, 100 bullets there’s no room for them in America.

“We have to go out and take on the NRA and beat them,” Biden declares.  “I’ve beaten them twice and I’ll beat them again.”

Biden is fear-mongering.  Schools are much safer today than they were at the turn of the century.  That may sound like a controversial claim given the incessant media coverage on school attacks nowadays but it’s the truth.

Four times the number of kids were killed in schools in the early 1990s than today, according to James Alan Fox, the Lipman Family Professor of Criminology, Law, and Public Policy at Northeastern, who just last year did a detailed analysis of school shootings over the last three decades.

“There is not an epidemic of school shootings,” Fox explained, while also pointing out that more kids are killed from pool drownings and bicycle accidents than active shooters.

Putting the numbers aside, we can all agree that even one school shooting is one too many.  The question, of course, is how do we stop the next attack?  Biden, as the ad makes clear, believes more gun control is the answer, specifically banning certain classes of weapons

But given that over the past 35 years, there have been only five cases where someone ages 18 to 20 used a so-called “assault weapon” in a mass shooting, even a widespread, confiscatory-style prohibition is unlikely to have an impact.

What then?  Well, unfortunately, some like Fox believe that attacks are pretty much inevitable.

“The thing to remember is that these are extremely rare events, and no matter what you can come up with to prevent it, the shooter will have a workaround,” said Fox.

Which is probably true.  No matter what perimeter security measures are in place, a patient and resourceful killer can find the vulnerabilities and exploit them.  That said, there is one surefire way to stop an armed killer in the act: an armed responder.

We saw this just last month in White Settlement, Texas.  A parishioner at the Church of Christ pulled out his pistol and fatally shot an armed attacker who had gunned down two innocents.  Authorities believe that more churchgoers would have died if not for the heroic actions of the armed responder and the security detail that backed him up.

Incidentally, just months earlier, Biden slammed the idea of guns in church as “irrational.”  Maybe it’s irrational to him — but to the survivors and witnesses in the Church of Christ that fateful day it was anything but that. It was life-saving!

Iowans, just like all Americans, will have a choice come November. Vote for a presidential candidate that supports armed resistance in the face of evil or a candidate that honestly believes the best way to keep children safe from a determined killer is to create more soft targets (gun-free zones) and ban weapons rarely used in school shootings.

Seems like an obvious choice to me. But we’ll see what Iowa has to say about it starting next month.

Biden is leading nationally with 29.3 percent, according to RealClearPolitics. He is third in Iowa, polling at 20.3 percent behind Sanders (22 percent) and Buttigieg (21.7 percent).

This man has been a RABID anti gun politician from day one of his political life, so his diatribe should not be a surprise.

Just one more proof that “Double Barrel” Joe is completely tone deaf, if not senile.
“That “Corn Pop” was a bad dude”.

I particularly enjoy the film clip of Joe Biden spouting the words of an Irish politician as his own words during an earlier president bid. I am sure it survives somewhere for his current candidacy.

So if Uncle Joe get elected and does what he promises to do, what is he going to say when (not if) another attack happens? No one on the campaign trail is talking about “mental health” and the lack of resources to address it. Guess if we keep our heads in the sand and continue to address these school shootings with the same knee-jerk reaction and new laws we will be better cause this makes us feel better. No need to look at another direction because of the great impact these laws have on criminals … oh wait criminals don’t follow the law; isn’t that what makes them criminals in the first place? Sorry it time to stick my head back into the sand…

We used to have drills for nuclear attacks in school. We had earthquake drills in California and my kids had drills to prepare them for Mt Rainer to go off. In Missouri we had tornado drills. In the 60’s and 70’s we had drills to prepare us for noncustodial parents coming to the school with the potential for violence. Isn’t that just part of school having drills to prepare our kids and let them know that bad things do happen in this world whether they are man made or natural disasters we need to have a plan.
