Why do Billionaires Want Your Guns?

We all know that billionaire business magnate Michael Bloomberg is a gun-grabbing zealot. He wants to disarm America. Plain and simple In fact, there’s little doubt that a large percentage of his fortune, Forbes estimates he’s worth $33 billion, will be spent on rolling back the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners.

That’s a lot of money. And it should cause gun owners great concern. But the thing about Bloomberg is that he hasn’t been shy about his disdain for the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Quite the opposite, the former New York City mayor has been very open concerning his antipathy for the your fundamental right to defend yourself, your property and your family from both the criminal element and a tyrannical government.

“If you want to have a gun in your house, I think you’re pretty stupid — particularly if you have kids — but I guess you have a right to do that,” Bloomberg told Rolling Stone magazine in a July 2014 interview.

“You know, to arm everybody and have the Wild West all the time is one of the more nonsensical things you can say… It just does not make any sense. The bottom line is if we had fewer guns, we would have a lot fewer murders,” Bloomberg told Bob Schieffer, host of CBS’s “Face the Nation,” in of July 2012.

Yes, Bloomberg loathes the Second Amendment. That’s not surprising. But what about the other billionaires who are now backing pro-gun control measures? Why are they now pushing for tighter restrictions on gun ownership?

I’m referring to Microsoft co-founders Bill Gates and Paul Allen, former microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and Seattle-based entrepreneur Nick Hanauer, all of whom contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, to I-594, the universal background check ballot initiative that was passed earlier this month with 60 percent of the vote.

Yes, I know what skeptics will say, basically that there’s a difference between Bloomberg and the rest, and that donating to a ballot initiative requiring criminal background checks on private transfers made over the Internet and at gun shows is not the same as aggressively advocating for legislation banning certain firearms or restricting concealed carry rights for responsible gun owners. Not all gun-control measures are equally nefarious, and Gates, Allen, Ballmer and Hanauer simply put their dollars behind background checks, not bans or gun-grabbing bills seeking to confiscate commonly owned and widely popular firearms. So, what’s the big deal?

I’d counter that argument by pointing out something New Yorker writer and pro-gun control advocate Adam Gopnik once wrote in an article, titled, “A Few Simple Ideas About Gun Control.

But to repeat the central truth of modern criminology: building low barriers against violent crime has a disproportionate effect in ending it. Make something difficult and you begin to make it impossible. You don’t have to back-engineer every law to cover every past criminal circumstance; you just have to sensibly craft laws to discourage the next one.

Make something difficult and you begin to make it impossible. That’s precisely the intent of UBC legislation. Supporters of UBC want to make owning and transferring firearms incrementally more burdensome, thereby discouraging the public from exercising its 2A rights. What was once a fairly painless transaction is now one that is subject to fees, third party intervention and a larger investment of the most precious resource one has: time.

That’s right. With a universal background check law in place, gun ownership becomes more difficult. Think about it. Instead of simply giving my non-gun owning friend a firearm, he now has to travel to a gun dealer or federal firearms licensee and pay a fee to the dealer so that the dealer could run a background check on him ($40 transfer fee at my local gun shop in Lackawanna, NY). That’s extra time and extra money. And the truth is, it adds up.

Also remember that UBC is the main objective today. Five years from now, when all states have background check laws on the books, what’s their next objective? What’s the next progression to making gun ownership more burdensome and costly? Probably gun registration, because “background checks would work better if every gun owner was registered” or some other B.S. argument. More fees, more time. Pretty soon, owning a firearm becomes a prohibitively expensive and time consuming luxury.

But back to UBC. The deep irony of UBC is that they not only make gun ownership more inconvenient for the law-abiding citizen, but they do nothing to stop criminals from gaining access to guns. By their very nature criminals don’t follow the law, and one more law on the books will not change that. Besides, criminals steal firearms, borrow them from other criminals, use straw purchasers to obtain them or buy them on the black market. Very rarely do criminals go through legal channels to obtain weapons.

So why then are these billionaires supporting background checks? Why are they trying to suppress one’s fundamental right of self-defense?

I don’t know. Maybe they’re like Bloomberg (or George Soros, who I didn’t mention but could have given that he’s another gun-grabber), and they perpetuate an institutional hostility toward guns and want to see a European-style (aka gun-free) America. Or Maybe they were hoodwinked into believing UBCs would make a difference. Quite honestly though, I’m not sure it matters why they are doing it. I think the important thing is to recognize that they’re doing it so we can spread the word to help stop them. If we don’t stop them, if we don’t wake up enough folks and alert them to what’s going on, our right to keep and bear arms will be but a distant memory.

Has the right annulled anti-weapon legislature since 1933 ? NO. Liberty has no left & right.

  • Jeremiah January 15, 2015, 6:52 pm

I just bought a handgun at Rural King in Bonita Springs, Florida and had to pay an additional $8.00 for the Fed’s background check. Not a big deal, but this will go up quickly and become more and more burdensome.

    • Dan January 23, 2017, 10:13 pm

That fee was imposed by the dealer for whatever reason….money. I don’t think they have to pay anything to use the background check system. They just charge you to get an extra $8. I would not buy another gun there. You say no big deal but it is to the dealer. It adds up big time.

I have a hard time with theses assholes trying to impose their will on me, and my rite to own and bare arms. Armed with this information it becomes all to apparent that every gun owner must vote any anti-gun legislator from office ASAP. The leftists will never stop their pursuit to disarm us.
We must remain ever vigilant to the gun grabbers plans. Take the time to inform your friends and neighbors to those that would infringe of our rites. Talk to them and make sure your family and neighbors understand how important it is to vote pro gun. Once they take our guns away we will never get them back!!!

I think that the intelligentsia (and those who associate themselves with the intelligentsia-the wealthy, the liberals, the artsy, etc.) share a desire to make their marks in the world. To do this, they must affect “change.” They don’t really care what the change is, but change means moving from the status quo. Note that the intelligentsia in the USSR was against communism. Why? Because to affect change in a communist country, you have to move from the status quo. Here in America, where we nominally have freedom, change means moving towards socialism and away from freedom; where are founding principles demand a small government, they want to make the government as big as possible, and so on. I seriously believe that it is a desire to affect change that is at the root of the intelligentsia’s activism. The direction that activism takes is determined not by any great knowledge or wisdom, but by the status quo, and their need to move away from it. If there are guns, then activism must be directed towards removing them. Doing so gives them the satisfaction of having done something, even if that something is ineffective or downright destructive or harmful. Simple as that.

The US is a fascist oligarchy with most sitting on BoDs and leading Fortune 1000 companies. The men mentioned in the article are but just Three of them. Some of their friends/ partners are in the US House; some in the US Senate; and some run for President- betcha 10,000 dollars!

    • Russ January 4, 2015, 1:25 am

      The US isn’t.
Myself and many others who belong to the US most certainly don’t consider it to be an oligarchy and are not fascists.
Some may be, including leaders, but the vast majority of US citizens aren’t.
Don’t give up on America Winston, there’s no better place to be.

Let me give you a hint. Disarmed we are subjects, not citizens. Disarmed we have no means to revolt or fight against tyranny. That is why the States demanded the second amendment at the Constitutional convention that authored the Bill of Rights. 100% of dictators disarm their citizens and make them subjects.

There is WAAY more of us than them and it IS not the NRA’s job to do OURS. These people are entitled to their opinion and if WE got off OUR A$$e$ and did the same would crush their pathetic push, as they’d see just how many they are against.
Problem is they’re organizing grassroots and WE are waiting for “somebody-else”(NRA) to do what only WE can do. This starts on local levels and WE being so independent WE are OUR own worst enemy.
The minority will win if the majority do nothing, WE are the majority and are not taking these morons serious ~!

Your right mtman2, but like minded people need instruction and direction.
So if people want to do something about it, you need to join your State militia.
Or you may want to get into politics at a local level.

The real answer as to why the mega-rich, or as I call them, the Uber-elites, do not want the common citizens to have access to firearms is that it is much easier to implement their eventual plans for the New World Order, or One World Order if you prefer. It will be MUCH easier when they collapse the world economy and implement their OVERT control over the countries of the world (they already control them through the Central Banks COVERTLY now) to control the masses of panicked, starving people if these people do not have any means to defend themselves from the tyranny that they mean to impose. “Agenda 21”, “The Creature From Jekyll Island”, “How The World Really Works” by Alan B Jones. There are many books and articles out there that will tell you what has been going on for the last few centuries among the money elites of the world. If the common people would only open their eyes and inform themselves. But, unfortunately, the Uber-Elites are not too concerned that the information is available to anyone who looks because they know that most will not. And those that do will be dismissed as “quacks” and ignored by the masses. People are creatures of habit. As long as they have a house to live relatively comfortably in, and food to eat, and sources of entertainment to keep them happy, most will not listen or pay any attention to the signs of impending disaster at their doors. After all, it has always been this way (in your lifetime), why would it ever change? Well, maybe it won’t. Maybe I’m FOS! Or maybe your world is about to come crashing down around your ears and the majority of you will either die, or wish that you had. One thing that I can guarantee you is that these Uber-Elites do NOT give a Rat’s Ass about YOU or your Welfare. If they are working diligently to take your means of self-defense away from you (which they are), it is NOT because they wish to make YOU safer. The only ones would who be “safer” in a world where the masses have no means to defend themselves would be those Uber-Elites would WILL have their own Security Forces to keep THEM safe. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hey Joe, check out the New York State “Conservationist” magazine of December 2014 which states that New York State is eighth in the nation for buying duck stamps. In Commiefornia the gun transfer fee is $25.00. The State of Ca. has now built an excess of 24 MILLION dollars, that`s right 24 MILLION! And guess what? It`s been given to Kamala Harris` DOJ to harass gun owners who had their right to possess firearms while on probation at one point in time or another taken away, and though they`ve since bought new firearms, WITH a PASSED background checks not knowing they must re-apply for their RIGHT to own firearms, even though they passed the background checks ( one would assume passing it made you legal to own again ) are breaking down doors at all hours of the early morning and forcing men, woman, and children, to the ground, and sometimes even shooting the house pet, then confiscating their firearms and arresting them! This is where the 24 million in excess fees are going. Why don`t they go BACK to those who paid them since those fees were meant to cover ONLY the costs of the transfers?
We are living in a POLICE STATE that is WORSE than NAZI Germany. If we don`t squash this anti-gun crap SOON, our children and their children are DOOMED to live in a life of Dictatorship and slavery!

Steve”s comment I would like to add to. My son got railroaded by his wife to become a Jehova’s Witness, they don’t believe in Christmas, saluting our flag, celebrating birthdays, joining the military, on and on. he and I had a falling out due to differences of opinions. On my last visit at his house i was told he never wanted me on his property again and in a heated discussion i said to him the same! This was horrible for me, but thats the way it went down. Then a week later I had two sheriff deputies show up at my doorstep with a restraining order from my son..Now this is what adds to Steves comments, they explained the rules with restraining orders and also said we have to CONFISCATE YOUR GUNS !! I said i will go along with all your rules (which me son and I already agreed on) but your not taking my guns! I was stunned when they said ok..Know your laws and rights! I am a 75 year old retired fireman never been arrested or done any drugs! sorry to say can’t say the same for my son.

  • Dave January 3, 2015, 12:19 pm

Billionaires, like the rest of us, have varying opinions. The difference is that they possess money in vast amounts, which can push their opinions onto others in a very powerful way. This is a very unfair advantage but it is, what it is.

In case you haven’t figured it out yet, we have already lost most of our rights and the USA is now in a state, where the average guy must follow the rules, or pay the price. Every time you buy a gun, you either submit to a background check, or you don’t get the gun. It would seem that possessing a carry permit, which already subjects you to a background check, should be all that you need. Yet, if you buy a gun this week and then opt to buy one next week, you still have to do it all over again and we all know the real reason, don’t we?

For most folks, it’s, at least, a pretty smooth and quick enough process. For me however, it’s a battle that never ends. I’ve been able to decipher that the route cause of this issue is that the Government wants information from Canada, as to a charge for which, I was never convicted. No conviction, another country and the so called “charge” goes back to the mid eighties.

When I buy a gun, I can not pick it up immediately after the background check. I wait the mandatory three days, only to be told that, no decision has been made. I once waited thirty days and still, no decision, which without approval now allowed me to pick up my gun under the threat that US Marshals might come to my door at any time and retrieve the gun.

Next time I bought a gun, I waited three days and simply said, I’ll take it right now. The dealer reiterated the same threat of a possible visit by US Marshals at any given time. It was insulting and degrading. I’m a Master Near Coastal boat captain, licensed by the Coast Guard, with a Transportation Workers Identification Card issued by Home Land Security. Yet, if I want to buy a gun, I must put up with this kind of indignation, not because I like, or agree with it, but because this is now the society that we live in.

As for billionaires, I’m not particularly concerned because freedom is largely, already lost, with, or without them. If I had their kind of money, I might well try to change things, too. I can dream as well as the next guy, right?

  • Rocky January 3, 2015, 12:08 pm

“This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more effective, and the world will follow our lead into the future!” Adolph Hitler 1935
We all know what happened after he got his gun registration. All current gun control laws are derived from the Nazi model and for the same reasons !
‘The only reason for disarming the people would be to control them’ ~ Samuel Adams
‘Firearms are the people’s liberty’s teeth’. ~ George Washington
“To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them…” — Richard Henry Lee, 1787
“…Who are the militia, are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom? Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American…. The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people. ~ Tenche Coxe

The number of quotes available, from our nation’s Framers are almost endless, with regards to the people’s right to keep and bear Arms. The Militia Act of 1903 (aka ‘The Dick Act’) created the ‘Unorganized Militia’, which members are all American males, of military age and up to age 60, if a veteran (considered old age at that time). Many, who are avid anti gun ownership are, themselves, members of said Militia, without their even being aware of it. All gun control laws are , at base, blatantly Unconstitutional. The Second Amendment does Not give us any ‘Rights’, but instead codifies certain pre-existing, naturally occurring rights, due all mankind, into the basis for all our laws; The US Constitution, in order that no one may ever attempt to abridge them, or take them away. IE; the right to defense of self, family, home and community far predates any form of government ever devised by mankind.

  • ab7698 January 3, 2015, 11:41 am

I think they don’t want an armed populace if things go south. History has shown that time and time again, if there is a popular revolt against the government, there is a looting and bringing down of the aristocracy. The rich are the targets and the armed masses may want what they have. If they are armed, they can take it. Just history.

  • BR549 January 3, 2015, 10:36 am

The only reason that sociopaths like Bloomberg are throwing that much money into the situation is NOT to take any philosophical stand on the issue, but because their are still enough ignorant morons in the population, who still haven’t figured out what the real issue is.

  • phil box January 3, 2015, 10:34 am

bloomturd’s thoughts are of a true dilettante who lives with armed guards who protect his sorry hide around the clock.
hey bloomturd leave your armed guards behind and spend a month on the streets of harlem then tells us about gun control.

didn’t think so, all mouth and aho.

  • John Porter January 3, 2015, 10:11 am

The reason the rich want to disarm the citizenry is simple. When the revolution comes, they know who the first targets will be!

  • William January 3, 2015, 10:10 am

You have to ultimately Eliminate guns from the citizenry in order to fulfill a Socialistic society. Duuh!! Why the hell do you think despite the mountanous facts on pro gun statistics , that they keep making new excuses to take guns away?? The very fact that the 2nd Amendment was put in place to keep those in power in check is evidence enough as to why they want to destroy it. Wake up people!

  • Jw January 3, 2015, 9:43 am

I love it when multimillionaires and billionaires, who live in exclusive gated secured communities with armed security, deem it necessary to dictate how your average citizen should live.

These folks want your guns for a number of reasons and, i suspect, very few of these reasons have to do with a concern for their fellow man. Many of them didn’t become wealthy without stepping on a lot of toes. Many of them realize that all the money in the world can’t save you from a determined, patient, and semi intelligent nut job with a rifle. All of them fear being separated from their money.

The common man is product or votes to these folks. Docile subservient cattle is far easier to manage, govern, sell to, and disenfranchise.

  • WR EDWARDS January 3, 2015, 7:26 am

I wonder if Bloomberg has ARMED bodyguards? Of course, he does, because he believes he’s better, than the rest. He doesn’t think the HE should be subject to restrictive gun legislation. I guess he’d feel safer if only his bodyguards(and criminals) had firearms.

  • C. Ray Sellers January 3, 2015, 3:56 am

This question surprised me. I wasn’t aware that the very wealthiest Americans could be rallied around the gun control movement. I started a list. After three names I was struggling. Of course a control-freak like Bloomberg, and someone like Bill Gates, who wants to be a philanthropist (but who is notoriously naive, politically), and George Soros whose vision for this country seems driven by contempt.
But I couldn’t keep track of the billionaires who oppose most gun control measures. Sheldon Adelson? Hardly! Forster Freise? No way. The Koch bros? Please! Steve Forbes? Never! With each name I discounted I was struck by how few of the wealthiest Americans fear self-reliant people fear for excessive government.

  • CGB92Fan January 3, 2015, 2:58 am

I believe the real reason why they’re against the second amendment is because the idea of eliminating an amendment, especially one guaranteed under the Bill of Rights, comes off as the (current) ultimate way of flaunting their wealth.

Sure. Vote it in and support private enterprise and the profit motive. The American way…….

Freedom is the sure possession of those alone who have the courage to defend it. Billionaires have NO COURAGE to defend anything or anybody, so If they can buy you out of your self defense (guns) to own you. WHY NOT ! They will still enjoy their freedom provided by hired, well armed professionals.

  • Greg November 24, 2014, 3:00 pm

Ironic, isn’t it, that Paul Allen backs gun control but collects tanks, yes the big ones with cannons and machine guns.

  • Joe McHugh November 24, 2014, 1:04 pm

    S. H. Blannelberry asked an incomplete question. He should have asked: “Why do billionaires and liberal Democrats want your guns?” Then he admitted that he doesn’t have a clue about the matter. One wonders why he bothered to write the article in the first place.

OK, in an effort to enlighten Blannelberry and any other American who is confused about authoritarian control of firearms, I will attempt to elucidate one and all. Pssst! Do you want a background check regulation that the dreaded National Rifle Association, (NRA), and all law-abiding gun owners of America would applaud? Here is the secret, write the bill draft to be a …………wait for it, ………BACKGROUND CHECK requirement.

Ah, the pregnant pause as one begins to digest the message. And then the obvious question, namely, why are some people still resisting the state of Washington’s I-594 Universal Background Check bill that passed into law, and Obama’s Senate bill S.374 that failed to pass in April 2013? The problem with both of these initiatives is not the checking to see if a prospective gun buyer is a violent criminal or an adjudged dangerous psychotic, the problem is the wording that requires information about the firearm that the customer wishes to purchase.

Senario: A citizen appears at a gun dealer’s store and asks to buy a particular firearm. The gun dealer is required to call the
National Instant Criminal Background Check System, (NICS) located at Clarksburg, West Virginia to verify that the customer has no record of being a violent criminal or an adjudged violent psychotic. (So far, so good.)
But the dealer is also required to record all information about the pending gun transaction including the brand, model, serial number, caliber or gauge, etc. etc. of the firearm, on Federal form # 4473.
The use of Federal form # 4473 is a gun registration system that the gun dealer has to keep on hand if the government makes an official request that the gun dealer fax it, or any other guns to a government department/agency.

Question: What credible reason would the government have for wanting to know what firearm a competent, law-abiding adult citizen owns? While the Billionaires and liberal Democrats ponder how to answer that question, here’s another question.
What constitutes the government’s description of a dangerous gun? Answer, any firearm that could be employed by a citizen, that wishes to maintain his or her independence from a government that becomes abusive to one’s inherent rights. You know, the ones inscribed in the Bill of Rights.

However, the most important question is: Why is the Federal government and the state governments pushing for
background check/gun registration legislation? Answer: all governments seek control of the people. Such control inevitably becomes abusive to the individual freedoms of the citizens. The people who promote such gun registration are really setting up the first step of a nefarious program. The second step is CONFISCATION of “dangerous” guns.
The psychology of the “trusted” leaders is simple. They know that they can not abuse the rights of an armed populace.

And you thought that all of this was confusing! NO ONE opposes background checks for gun buyers. However, all competent, law-abiding adult citizens oppose any program that enables the government to know who owns what firearms. And that is the righteous beliefs of all who understand that they control the government, not vice versa.

By the way did I mention that the criminals and the crazies do not normally obey gun laws?

    • Robert November 25, 2014, 12:20 pm

Good and accurate comment Joe. Unfortunately more people are concerned about having their IPhone taken away than their Constitutional rights which they have little knowledge of. I personally write to my representatives, call their offices and write “letters” to the editor. I wrote one this morning to the Knoxville newspaper about the Ferguson situation. What the business owners there should have done was board up their windows and then posted themselves on the roofs with 12 ga. shotguns with 00 buckshot and a rifle with a good scope. That is what owners did when the O. J. Simpson decision and no one entered their neighborhood! We have a right to defend our possessions and lives. Criminals need to understand that attacking either of them is going to lead to disaster for them.

  • Michael November 24, 2014, 12:53 pm

Well it,s simple math people. The rich control and own or Government but can not outright give free people commands another words we are not completely under their thumb. The rich pretty much control us and our lives but it is time to cut back the herd because it is in their best interests to kill of the slaves who are unproductive. Most of our Manufacturing has been moved to slave Countries, cheep labor. Most young Americans will not be able to afford a higher Education and there are not enough jobs for unskilled labor unless you want to work on the cheap pay. Our guns are the only thing that can stop the rich and Government from Dictatorship. If I knew how this Country would have turned out to be twenty five years ago I would have left to Iceland or one of the other Country’s where the wealth is shared. I am a Retired Manufacturing R & D Engineer, CAD CAM and CNC Programmer. I made a lot of Companies and people Wealthy. But because of my weakness to want more knowledge and do more interesting things I never stayed more than 3 years at any Company. My mistake on moving around a lot, but I had a front row seat in watching what big Corporation were doing after Reagan,s traitorous acts against the American Workers. He signed the beginning of the end for the American Dream and Manufacturing. Our Weapons are our only protection from not the low life crackhead but from the upper hand that wants it all.

I just picked up on this ‘blog’ and you partially “hit the nail on it’s head”: gun-ownership of ‘common’ citizens is all that holds them back to impose an all-out & total dictatorship upon us. However; this is not only on you US Citizens, but on us all of us across the globe! Unknowingly to most of us, they have already mostly succeeded in doing so by making the very foundations of this new ‘Corporate Building’ under construction! Look only around you at the introduction of these numerous US Security Agencies, US Border Control’, ATF and many others! Just the implementing of the “Patriot Act” gives the US Government ‘explicit’ and ‘unlimited’ export and sanctions rights across the globe and unwittingly of it’s true intentions and contents; most other countries got ‘suckered’ and ‘bullied’ into signing-up for it! The one hurdle left is this hand-full of seemingly smarter countries who didn’t sign-up and don’t care for any of these US implemented Export-regulations! Then the final hurdle is to implement a global ban on ‘civilian’ gun-ownership, then the road is all cleared for them! Doesn’t it sound all familiar: at least it does to me and reminds me of our old and deceased neighbor Nazi-Germany? *For this: I don’t know where the hell this one writer has gotten his idea/info that Hitler was ‘Pro’ civilian gun-ownership; as the first thing that happened during the first 4-8 days after conquering our country and the rest of Europe was that their Wehrmacht troops, lead by small S/A & S/S divisions, started confiscating all ‘registered’ arms in both ‘occupied’ territory and in Germany itself! It was easy pickings: as few countries/municipals had actually destroyed’ their own Arms-Registries, as they were supposed to do right at start or even at the tread of any invasion! In fact: not even air-guns where left alone and were confiscated and any sign of revolt or disobedience was immediately answered by a firing-squad!
If you guys think you’ve got it bad right now in your country is in trouble, then have a listen to this!
First: I’ve been ‘born & bred’ in The Netherlands quite close to the German border and have seen it change over the years!
A country, were ‘legal’ gun-ownership is only allowed to those that have A) followed a costly 2 year hunting-course, while at the same time having access to the proper size/location of land to hunt on or B) those that are an ‘active’ member of a shooting-club, with no criminal records and of a ‘spotless’ character and has been a member for at least one year of un-interrupted weekly shooting-sessions, period!
On a side-note: Yes Michael; I’ve followed pretty much the same work-pattern in the very same industries as yours for quite some time; with the exception that I’ve also included other metal/mechanical skills such as some conventional machining, tool-making, welding, mechanical, and mill-wrighting skills! I even worked ‘off and on’ at two different gunsmithing places in those days; no doubt, all this in preparation of my final and what in my eyes, what I thought was the ‘ultimate’ trade I was planning to master! Further more; I also like to add that I’m no ‘racist’! In fact: I have little time for any of the followers of this ‘brain-dead’ and brain-cell destroying cult! Instead: I belief in the equal, free and fair treatment of all human beings; especially so for those that are the tax-paying part of the population! Being born rich, struck rich by career or married into wealth and having quite handily adapted this sick skill and habit of paying as little TAX as possible, doesn’t ‘automatically’ mean one can assume total power over your surrounding pheasants! On the contrary: they should be the very last ones to be considered for any of these positions! Anyway; these fond memories of my Dutch youth, which take me back to my years of family-life, followed up by some quality education and ‘hands-on’ apprentice-training that was second to noe and one that has become nearly non-existing in today’s world where max. corporate profits take priority and finally my years of working as a machinist!
Holland: this little ‘socially’ oriented place, that I fondly remember, but at the same time, also a place I sadly became to hate increasingly every single day, as I got older and was ‘forced’ to stay living/working and be part of!
This little country that over a short time of period became ‘oppressive’ towards it’s own ‘native’ citizens: increasingly aggressive to those who openly spoke their minds and opposed the new ruling class! A country which government had slowly but securely adapted themselves a ‘reverse’ discrimination policy against it’s very own ‘native’ population under the clog of (extreme) social ‘politically-correctness’ (gone wrong)! All the while pouring the bulk of the countries financial resources into accommodating and heavily favoring ‘foreign’ guest-workers/asylum-seekers in all aspects of life and this has been going on for these past four decades! Unlike you; in the end I couldn’t take it any longer, so I actually packed up my belongings and immigrated as far away as possible from the homeland: New Zealand! I’ve really enjoyed living/working there most of my life! With some short interruptions, whenever the opportunity presented itself: like studying on a ‘student-visa’ for over a year at one of your local Colorado Gunsmithing Academies to get my North American Gun-making qualifications. Followed by a brief post-graduation stay in Europe for some additional gunsmithing-training before returning with my family back to NZ! Here, for the nearly a decade I continued working mostly as a self-employed gun-maker/gunsmith, while I had ‘specialized’ in the building of custom ‘mid-end’ lightweight Hunting/Sporting-Rifles. Yes, I bet we would have made a great team working-in together if one of us had had the access to the proper CNC-equipment at the time, lol? Although, not making any real good money: my trade has paid for all the basic living-expenses & bills, but I never got to a point I could save something and actually pay for my retirement funds! In fact: it would all have been impossible to survive without the additional input of my spouses work as long! Things have certainly changed dramatically for all of us living/working in this trade outside the USA in the aftermath of Post 9/11! Yes, truth is: it has now become a ‘politically in-correct’ trade, real ‘burden’ and a financial liability to be working and trying to make a living in this trade outside of the USA! I was hoping our latest move to Canada proofed to bring the final fiancial and it did so partially for the first 4 years, while being employed here ‘full-time’ by another Gun-making firm! However; the next 4 years of self-employment in Canada have made things a lot worse then they ever where before in NZ! Especially; if one is solely dependent and relying on the import of ‘bureacratic’ time-consuming and costly US ‘red-tape’ In/Export paperwork that is needed for the simplest of gunparts/supplies nowadays! The relentless and ever changing stream of Import/Export restrictions/regulations, that are being imposed upon us by your country: even while living next door, are taking it’s toll! Restrictions; originally intended to target these ‘so-called’ terrorists/tugs & criminals: have now turned out to be an excellent and effecient tool for the US administrtion, then ever before! It ‘literally’ makes our lives ‘hell’ by denying smaller ‘foreign’ companies ‘free’ access to not only the US guns/gun-parts markets, but also to the ‘global’ gun-parts/gun-export markets! It basically works like a ‘two-edged’ sword: 1) only the bigger companies can justify these huge expenses and sustain themselves through these senseless and ridiculously long waiting-times for the simplest of gun-parts of up to 1 1/2 year 2) as a result most US based mfg’rs have decided that they are no longer applying for their costly US State Department Export-Permits and subsequently, a much smaller quantity of guns/gun-parts is now able to ‘trickle’ across the borders! This is especially so for the ‘overseas’ civilian markets. 3)With this vacuum created; an even bigger ‘overseas’ export market has opened itself up at the very same time! However: it has been my past experiences, that the way it has been set-up for the civilian markets to be filled, it is mostly favoring US-based contractors and companies. Ironically, in this new world order, which was created to make this world a much safer place, we now see more and more conflicts flaring up across the globe then ever before! This new ‘world-order’ that promoted the idea of “so-called’ ‘Free Trade Agreements’: in retrospect, today’s reality is that things have turned out to go in quite a different direction! Anyone which follows the Globes news channels on an ‘un-biassed’ basis, can clearly see the ‘cat & mouse game that is played here? Today’s big ‘global’ arms sales are heavily dominated by the Big Four: Russia, China, US, Israel and called to the ‘side-bench’ to pick up the scraps is the EU! The first two never signed up: the very reason, they can be part of this brotherhood. The fourth seems to be allowed to do it’s business by mutual consent closely around it’s borders as long as it is ‘friendly’ countries concerned, while the latter seems to take the crumbs that are left after jumping through all of these hoops that include Export! All the while the third is taking an increasingly bigger chunk out of the pie of ‘global’ arms-sales, under the banner of fighting ‘terrorism’; especially in the more sophisticated arms? Not really helpful ,while promoting world-peace and the idea of ‘dis-armament’ among the worlds civil populations, all the while engaging in trouble area’s that make them money and in the process exporting and spreading an increasingly and unknown to us ‘civilians’ amount of AR-style small-arms and ‘specialized’ “smart-weapons” across the globe! I’m sure with all our small differences of opinions and ideologies: we can all degree on this one ‘sure’ thing here? The very fact that “CORPORATE-GREED” is the one to blame here and the US ones are on the forefront of it all? Sadly we’ve all been ‘suckered’ into this ‘global’ protection-scheme and over the years been ‘scare-mongered’ an brain-washed into this make belief fear for terrorism. I acknowledge and condemn the atrocities committed by the ‘tugs’ of ISIS/ISIL, but this is only a minor tread to us all and will only last that long! The biggest treat to us all is the fact that none of us ‘pheasants’ knows where this ‘roller-coaster we’ve all been place on to, will take us all nor where it’s all going to end? In the meantime, even with the oil-prices at an all-time low; the big Corporations are still making Guinness-book’ world-setting ‘record’ profits; all the while we are suffering financial hardships all the time and we’ve all left our kids with an insecure future in a world that is getting increasingly volatile, dangerous and ‘sick’! A world where the majority of it’s economies are in ruin or in total chaos, who are struggling for ‘basic’ survival and who have now more problems to solve, then they’ve had ever before! Just my two cents worth!

  • Carl Tests November 24, 2014, 12:44 pm

I suppose the answer to the question is “let me count the ways”. In California, we had proof that if guns are banned, only criminals will have guns. With perhaps the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, we recently had CA FORMER Senator Leland Yee (one of the largest CA proponents of gun control in the legislature) arrested for running guns. He was a mainstay Democratic leader in CA, funded by criminals and crime lords (funny – sounds like Chicago). He worked very hard to make obtaining a gun in CA near impossible and then ran a lucrative business selling those guns to criminals. At least the Feds practiced equal-opportunity in arresting him. When dealing with criminals you follow the money. So, why do billionaires (and so many Democratic politicians) want to grab your guns? They have a way to make money or secure power, which equates to money. That is the bottom line. I’m sure Bloomie has ways make more money and/or secure power over the people from gun control (probably on both sides of the fence).

  • Doug November 24, 2014, 12:05 pm

Think they want to take our guns because they want total control of us and they fear us. They fear that the people will rise up against the rich controllers and punish them for exploiting us. And they will still have guns, like through political programs as “special deputies”. They will have armed guards and gated communities and homes. They will have political and police buddies that they take care of financially who will in turn allow them to have weapons. We will be helpless pawns under their total control.

    • Joe McHugh November 26, 2014, 5:05 pm

Doug, I’m a little confused here. Maybe you can help me out by clarifying what you mean when you wrote “…they want to take our guns because they want to control us.” I understand that the politicians want to control us but what guns are you talking about?

I reside in the People’s Republic of New York State and I don’t own a gun, and none of my associates own firearms. Heck, I don’t think that there are more than a dozen shotguns for duck hunting in all of upstate New York! The people who still had rifles and handguns sold them to other Americans out of state or turned them in to the State Police for destruction, after Governor Andrew Cuomo convinced us that the ownership of guns cause tragedies in the home and always lead to criminal activity. That’s why he initiated the New York S.A.F.E. gun law in January of 2013. It all but outlawed most firearms because they were “dangerous weapons”. Our Governor Cuomo just won re election by a comfortable margin thanks to our fellow New Yorkers in New York City. What can I say? We love the guy!

And the results of New York’s new gun restrictions? Almost all of the guns are gone, and the state government no longer feels concerned that there might be dangerous guns flooding our city’s streets. So Doug, I’m almost sure that if you check around your house and ask your friends and relatives about guns, that you will all realize that none of you have guns either! I mean you don’t want your trusted elective office holders to worry about the obscene number of guns in private hands, right?
When the politicians in your state realize that they don’t have to pass anti-gun laws due to the lack of guns, they will move on to other initiatives, like laws that will provide government help for the financial hardships that you must be laboring under. This might cause higher state taxes but you have to understand that others aren’t as fortunate as you.

See what I am getting at here Doug? When the guns are gone everybody can breath a sigh of relief………for now.

This is why it is so important to get involved with the NAGR or the NRA, or any other grass-roots movements that know where this is heading. Universal background checks are one step closer to straight-out confiscation. I hope our children and grandchildren can have the same fight.
    NAGR: http://www.nationalgunrights.org/

It was the Second Amendment Foundation that won both the DC and Chicago reversals of right to carry before SCOTUS.
As Pete stated to “get involved” with good orgs but that means funding them and the ones that fight and win regular court battles are the ones that need funding the most or they’ll just peter out and OUR Bill of RIGHTS will be steadily stripped til gone ~!

  • Disillusioned Washington State Resident November 24, 2014, 11:18 am

The truth about I-594 in Washington is that it is much much more than “universal background checks.” It was completely misrepresented in an emotional campaign of falsehoods to the low information, liberal populace in the Seattle metro area as “universal background checks.” The truth is that 594 is handgun registration and it regulates literally EVERY “transfer” of a firearm, to include “temporary transfers”, such as handing a collectible firearm to your friend for 30 seconds. Under the oppression of 594, this “temporary transfer” is a “legal” transfer and requires an FFL, background checks BOTH directions, as well as fees, and a waiting period on either side of the transaction.

Bloomberg, his Stalinist cronies, and their army of useful idiots will now use 594 as the model for every other state that has voter initiatives. They will run the same emotional campaign of deceit in state’s urban areas that have the largest concentration of low information voters (who are easily duped) to pass more Stalinist style “background” check laws. Outside of the Seattle metro area 594 was not advertised, but VERY little, because there was little to no support for it.
The Bloomberg Stalinists have already announced that they are going to push a similar measure in Oregon and Arizona next year.

Do not under estimate the evil of statist/socialists like Bloomberg, Obama et al. They are actively working toward a Stalinist style of government. They seek to tear down the American Constitution and style of government and replace it with something entirely different. We have to resist it, we have to educate our people, and we must not let “incremental” measures of tyranny slip by as ok because they don’t go too far.

“I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce, and agriculture, in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain.”
    -John Adams

    • Pete B November 24, 2014, 11:47 am

Well said! We must remember to tell the truth to any urbanite or uninformed resident about what these types of crony laws are designed to do, for us and for future generations of Americans.

  • Carlos November 24, 2014, 10:23 am

It’s easy for both sides of the argument to ignore the facts: preventing law abiding citizens from owning guns increases crime, mental illness and access to ANY weapon do not mix. Firearms in the hands of the mentally ill needs to be prevented and background checks is a way of doing that. That it costs a little money or is a bit more inconvenient pales in comparison to children, college students, etc. being killed. And some of those killed were using firearms to reach those that were ill. Sad…

    • Mahatma Muhjesbude August 24, 2015, 1:49 pm

Carlos, nobody likes to see dangerous weapons, big fast trucks, gasoline, alcohol, baseball bats (the favorite ‘tool’ of mob enforcers, and doesn’t waste ammo) or any potential item that can complicate and exacerbate the bad behavior of a person who is mentally ill or otherwise hell bent on doing bad things. But you are missing the entire point here. Which is that because of the ease with which the fascist regimes can abuse the ‘public safety’ psychology and manipulate legislators in creating anti-Constitutional laws for NOTHING ELSE but to disarm the populate o they can eventually totally control and fleece the sheeple for their own agenda based tyranny. Which is mostly to enslave you for their pleasure! This has been the reality theme all throughout history until the visionary Founders put a stop to it. Mainly with the 2nd/A.

The only solution is to repeal all anti-2/A laws, which are blatantly illegal. Starting big time with the GCA of ’68 which started the illegal UBC/ registration which will be used to quickly disarm us because we will all become ‘criminals’ subject to the ’68 GCA felony gun prohibition laws. Only now, it’s misdemeanors and domestic violence and ‘mentally’ questionable people, as well. You do realize that one out of every 3 persons has some sort of ‘condidtion’ or emotional content issue that technically be defined as a ‘mental condition’ or med drug dependency which ‘administratively’ can be ‘prohibited’ from having a gun depending upon how ‘ambitiously” THEY decide to enforce the ever changing form 4473?

Thing very hard about that before you ‘acquiesce’ to submit to their tyranny in the name of ‘extreme crime prevention’ for specious notion of ‘Public Safety’. Think very hard. The 2nd/A simply cannot be ‘Infringed’ no matter what the justification, and any and all gun laws and restrictions should be repealed and annulled. PERIOD!

Otherwise sooner or later they’ll have to cancel the 4th of July. It won’t mean anything anymore.

  • steve November 24, 2014, 10:22 am

Everyone must realize that a man does not derive his/her rights from paper. Only privileges can be given and taken. Rights, or inalienable rights, are provided at birth given by what ever diety, god, or belief system one has. No man has the authority to force another without consent from him. All written laws are statutory. Meaning, you either consent to be governed, or, you do not authorize the law to be held over you.

Everyone needs to understand that our government only has two jurisdictions granted to them by its people. To preside over a common law (or civil court) case, and admiralty (military tribunal). (B.O.R – Article 6, section 8, clause 17….I belive this is the correct clause). The gov’t can truely only act under military tribunal, as common law they are merely a 3rd party mediator.

The bill of rights grants nothing that a natural born man/woman wasnt already given. It merely SECURES rights that one is born with, and that no entity (except THE creator) can take away without consent. The created is subject to the creator..

If you think I am nuts or dumb, just ask yourself one question, “why do I HAVE to register to drive, to own a gun, (enter question here).” Now, ask, by what authority does this come? If you said the gov’t, doesnt the authority of the gov’t come from the people by which are choosing to be governed by consent? Then, wouldn’t this lead to being able to resend your consent and return governing power of yourself to you?? Not meant to bash on gov’t, just more of a thinking exercise to get someone to think outside a box that has been created within most people’s minds. Rights cannot be converted into a crime, UNLESS you consent to it.

    food for thought…
    God bless,

    • Robert November 24, 2014, 1:02 pm

Steve, all your comments are true and correct. They do not teach history of the country or the contents of our founding documents anymore in our public schools. I used to watch Jay Leno’s and Bill O’Reilly’s man on the street asking common questions of people who if they are educated properly ought to know. The ignorance of the people in this nation is tragic but that is what happens under a national education program like the United States Education Department controls the curriculum. No Child Left Behind and Common Core are just programs that are started to eventually brainwash our children. No current person in Washington D. C. work to get rid of the Education Department, the ERA, the duplicity programs that are costing us billions of dollars, etc. The government is bloated with employees who will vote for candidates who will support the agencies they work in so they won’t have to get an honest job in commerce. Same with the welfare program. 50 million will not vote for candidates who will take away their free WIC cards, cell phones, health care and subsidized housing. So add it up. 50 million and all the millions that work for the U. S. government and what do you have. Control of the voting booth. Plain and simple.

        WE can thank Jimmy Carter for the Fed.Dept of Ed. 1979, the former Pres of the Teachers Union(AFT), stated when asked about his plans to help the school children and he said;
Again folks, Google- “Communist Goals for America” -as read into the Congressional Record 1963.

Now as to voting here in the U.S. Most of the 60% of registered citizens that did not vote in 2012 are Conservative, moderates, libertarians or independents likely to vote conservative; like the Reagan landslides- but not for RINO’s.
And WE have always been in the majority aka the “Silent+Moral-Majority” and also the “Sleeping-Giant”…
This is why the Left, now the Far-Left uses every trick in the book or not to win by hook or crook.
Again they laugh on their way to acceptance speeches knowing they are not the majority. So keep not showing up+lose!
It’s true though that a real leader like Reagan will draw out the largest numbers, but WE have good people out there now. This socialist cabal in DC and regime in the WH has finally awakened many yet not most to the anti-American danger ~!

      • Joe McHugh November 26, 2014, 3:43 pm

Robert, more and more Americans are beginning to see the truths that you write about.
Another American said it even better. “When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the Republic.” Benjamin Franklin

  • Charles Franchina November 24, 2014, 10:21 am

I never owned a gun. But now the more they try to take away guns the more I buy. I bought three in the past 60 days. Talk some more sh!t and I’ll buy another three.

    • TomLang November 24, 2014, 3:32 pm

God for you, Charles Franchina! Now if only a few million more non-gun owners would get the message, maybe the sheer volume of sales might chase the Bloombergs, Soros and Gates back into their money vaults to guard their gold. As for me, they better not bother to come for my guns unless they accept the notion that one of us will end up dead.

they can try all they like they will never disarm the american people.they can steal our money steal our health care take our houses but they will never disarm us.i use my 62 guns as a hedge fund just in case the stock market crashes.and would never allow the govt to take my guns without a fight.i am not some lunatic who thinks guns are the problem.most murders are caused by criminals not people who follow the law.i have no problem with background checks.only problem i have is this is the govt way of keeping track of what we have.the armed people of the usa is the largest army in the world.

      • GunNut November 25, 2014, 1:53 pm

Isn’t it possible that they could own the Gun Industry ie: Freedom Group. Does anyone know anything about this company? I believe one company is buying up the ammo manufacturing also. I could be wrong, but if your that rich you can buy your way into anything and then close the doors. Thank God Americans have a way of rebounding with new companies.

  • A. Yokum November 24, 2014, 9:25 am

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

It’s all about controlling others. Huge amounts of money gives them the false impression that they are smarter and know better…

  • CGB92Fan November 24, 2014, 9:11 am

It’s probably just some demented way of flaunting their wealth and what could out-flaunt destroying or limiting one of the ten unalienable rights of the Bill Of Rights?

  • walt morris November 24, 2014, 8:58 am

taking guns away does not reduce murder. take mao tse tung he got all the guns away from his people and proceeded to murder hundred of thousands–even millions of his own people who didn’t have a chance to defend themselves. then there are the communists in Russia who have murdered millions of their own countrymen. dictators around the world have done the same and probably have killed more of their people than all the murderers in history. the only difference is that our own communist leaders just haven’t started killing us–yet. before they can make that happen they MUST take away our guns. our prolific gun ownership is the only thing that kept the Japanese from attacking America during ww-II. tyrannical governments hate it when their citizens can protect themselves.

    • Robert November 24, 2014, 12:11 pm

Walt, you are perfectly correct in your remarks. If you want proof, although there are not any millionaires in ISIS that I know of, they are into people control. They started with seed money from somewhere and expanded their acquisitions of weapons until they are where they are today. Plus the ones we gave the Iraqis to defend their country who were cowards and threw down those weapons and uniforms and helped to equip ISIS. Don’t forget all the trucks and other vehicles like troop carriers, etc they handed over. The other part of this is that the people they are killing by the hundreds (or thousands, no one has an accurate count) are not armed. It is easy to take over when you have no resistance. That is what this is all about. If they, our illustrious millionaires, can control gun ownership the next step is where you are allowed to live, who you are allowed to marry (Islam already has that covered) and where you can work. Perhaps in their factories and businesses as licensed by the central government. This, health care (?) and all other programs are about control. How do they get this done. If you are a candidate for president and someone, name any millionaire or billionaire, contributes to a super PAC who runs thousands of TV and newspapers ads all over the country convincing people you are the super hero they have been waiting for (sound familiar) you are going to do what they want when you assume office and will bow and scrape so you can keep the position, power and all the perks that go with it. Now back to ISIS. It does not take a person of courage who has captured, say an American photographer, and ties their hands, makes them kneel and then proceeds to behead them, a painful and gruesome procedure. Those people are cowards and savages, much as they have been for centuries. So what do we do? Do not register your weapons, do not surrender them and do anything you have to to keep possession of them and all the ammo you need to be stockpiling. Defend America from the ground up. We have millions of trained vets who will help us.

    • Rob January 3, 2015, 8:58 am

Good point, it’s not about reducing murder, it’s all about who gets to murder whom.

  • Jay November 24, 2014, 8:40 am

The whole truth and nothing but the truth is, it is not about gun control, crime or reducing criminals with guns! It’s simply about control, and you can’t control the human factor when they can fight back and are armed with guns!

      • Castle January 3, 2015, 7:52 pm

Amen brother! Amen! middle class …. wake up!

  • Glenn Hagler November 24, 2014, 8:16 am

I believe that those who have accomplished the goal of being super wealthy, and basically have everything in the world that money can buy want to conquer the only thing that money can’t buy, and that is control of men, which is impossible in a free and armed society. History proves over and over that to control men, you must first disarm them. I believe that this is also the desire of our current President. They are simply drunk with power.

      • steve A. November 24, 2014, 10:31 pm

contrary to what i always hear on this site, hitler actually reduced restrictions on guns. the laws were already in place when he gained control, and he actually repealed some of the laws, making it easier for people to get guns, and reduced the restrictions on who could own them. it was actually one of the first things he did.

        • Gearmoe December 10, 2014, 7:49 pm

Let’s not get carried away here. Hitler was well aware of the negative effects of an armed population.
This subject is tossed around all the time in the anti-gun arenas. Suffice to say, Hitler was no idiot and did not want to fight an uprising within his own Country.

          • Christopher January 3, 2015, 8:08 am

Ever notice that Snopes, the internet lore watchdog everyone puts 100% of their faith in without question, has a heavy left-wing liberal bias?

        • Gregg August 25, 2015, 12:02 pm

Hitler also when it came time to collect all of those guns had people shot on site if they could not come up with them.

    • Gearmoe December 10, 2014, 7:40 pm

You know Glenn I’m not on board with the “drunk with power.” But your initial statement is likely the bottom line, they want ultimate control as this is the only thing money shouldn’t be able to buy. But as you know they will try and have succeeded to some point.

  • Rob November 24, 2014, 7:49 am

The question and title of this article is Quote :”WHY DO BILLIONAIRES WANT YOUR GUNS?”
Unfortunately the author is not able to answer that question here.
Quote: “So why then are these billionaires supporting background checks? Why are they trying to suppress one’s fundamental right of self-defense? I don’t know.” Quote: “I’m not sure it matters why they are doing it. ”
Maybe some of the readers have a pretty good idea why billionaires want your guns so please let us know what you think.

    • Administrator November 24, 2014, 7:58 am

Well Bill Gates is a eugenicist, just like his daddy who was instrumental in starting Planned Parenthood. He would probably prefer that people not have guns when he dictates to them whether they can have a child or keep granny alive. The rich never want the serfs to be armed, because they can be troublesome. Bezos is probably more of a me too’er, though I’m sure he has his spot in the luxury bunker all picked out as well.

      • mtman2 November 24, 2014, 10:35 pm

“Luxury bunker picked out”……Nah, these people have entire huge Islands owned with bunkers that would embarrass the CIA.
No! It’s the One-Worlder plan to eventually ‘eliminate’ 90% of human kind that are unnecessary but share the planet at this point in history. Once the useless eaters are ‘eliminated’ the elites will allow the highly skilled and technical in needed functions as servants, entertainment, maintenance, industry and agriculture to live blessed by their generous benevolence.
As these masters of earth are jetted around their planet to enjoy life without the riff-raff to tolerate at whatever beautiful location desired. “Bunker”?… nah they want the planet; the same one offered to Christ in the wilderness ~!

      • Stravo Lukos January 3, 2015, 9:24 am

Gas & bombs are soooo much more effective & efficient. That’s the real reason billionaires want our firearms. They love efficiency. C’mon guys! Get w/ the program!

      • Randy January 3, 2015, 9:32 am

What’s wrong with eugenics ? I think it’s a great concept. There truly are a very large amount of people that should have NEVER been parents. Most of their offspring makeup the majority of prison and mental health facility populations.

        • Bryan January 3, 2015, 10:20 am

If your child has autism, or your father has dementia, then you wouldn’t be saying that. Isn’t eugenics a central tenement of the third Reich? And while they are too many people here in this world, only god has the right to decide who stays and goes.

          • Travis January 3, 2015, 11:14 am

Eugenics by itself is neutral. It is the means of accomplishing it that is evil Forced sterilization is evil. Incentives aren’t evil

          • Gabo January 4, 2015, 6:57 pm

Mother nature will kill you, long before God.

        • Gabo January 4, 2015, 6:50 pm

eugenics – how do you think we got here??

      • BullpenBill January 3, 2015, 10:45 am

Hmmm. I wonder who will be left to make their toilet paper and ……..

    • mtman2 November 24, 2014, 10:18 pm

      1) No he didn’t answer why billionaires hate the 2nd-A; but power in the common “peasants” hands isn’t acceptable
      2) Why do they want background checks = It invariably leads to full registration = future confiscations for increasing reasons.
      3) These super-mega wealthy folk are privy to the One-Worlder cabal that has plans where a 2nd-A could cause problems.

    • Tom January 3, 2015, 10:42 am

My opinion – Bloomberg et. al. want to be the USA’s Stalin. He knows the 2A is there to stop just that from happening.

  • teebonicus November 19, 2014, 3:07 pm

Some folks are beyond retrieval. But others aren’t. We need to connect with the latter and bolster their understanding and respect for America’s First Principles.

    • John Peloquin November 24, 2014, 8:38 pm

Well, for one thing $40 for a transfer fee is a ripoff.

      • Whyawannaknow January 3, 2015, 9:03 am

Around here (Minnesota), I pay between $15.00 and $25.00 for a transfer from FFL’s I do business with regularly.

The big box stores either refuse to do transfers or charge $50.00. I do business for EVERYTHING GUN AND SHOOTING RELATED I CAN with the small local gun stores/FFL’s/MN Weapons Collector show members who take care of me instead of over charging me on this 10 to 15 minute long customer service…

      • KK317 January 3, 2015, 1:13 pm

John, you’re right! And the first thing the firearms stores we support should be doing is supporting us right back! “Oh, you need to do a transfer that takes me 3 minutes and a phone call? That will be $5, UBC included.” They should be helping us by making this as easy and pain free as possible. NOT another way to bolster their profit margin.

By me, it’s just like the CCW classes. They charge $250.00/person whether they have 5 people or 35 people. And the industry seems to have colluded on the price of these classes. Nobody is cutting any deals.

Anything I tell ya is just the way i see it.

        • Dr Raymond E Fischer January 3, 2015, 4:01 pm

In Missouri everyone is making CCW class discounted prices. They normally run between 75.00 and 125.00 but are now 25.00 to 60.00…. All are encouraging the Citizens to exercise their 2nd Amen. Right to keep and bare arms! CCW classes are completely full right now and are fully booked for a number of months ahead.

    • Outlaw November 28, 2014, 3:03 am

Might be but it seems to be a rather universal amount. It’s the same $40 around here except if you buy from Bud’s then it’s $65!

      • Jerry January 3, 2015, 10:16 pm

My local FFL charges me $20 for background check. You might shop around for best prices. Yes big box folks charge enough to discourage so I consider that. Bought several from Bud’s at that price

    • Ed January 3, 2015, 11:33 am

Maybe if we all could afford armed body guards we wouldn’t need guns either!

      • steve January 3, 2015, 6:39 pm

yeah you are right! its funny how all the rich people, pollititions, and movie stars are pro gun control but they have armed guards in many cases! the reason they dont want us middle class to have guns is because the one percent fear us!

    • JP January 3, 2015, 8:52 pm

Please tell Mr. Bloomburg that the rest of the country isn’t NYC. Also make all of your security disarm before they come to work and let me know how secure you are with that. JP.

      • Gregg August 25, 2015, 11:50 am

Better yet drop them off overseas or even downtown Philadelphia or the bad part of any city without their bodyguards and see what they say then. Hell even let them live like most of us normal people do, just trying to provide and protect our family and friends.
